Well done FFF, 8lb in 2 weeks is great. I think I might join dh next time he goes to the gym and do some cycling, maybe walk on the treadmill too.

My psoriasis isn't particularly bad atm, so no need to feel sorry for me - just a little patch at the hairline and that will probably go when the days get a bit warmer.

Evesmama I'm so impressed with your chocolate abstinance - what willpower!

Evesmama · 25/01/2005 20:01

thankyou bran, have been sorely tempted today but havent hurray

bran · 25/01/2005 20:33

Do you think it's getting easier or harder to resist Evesmama?

am thinking about it more, but thats just the withdrawel kicking in now i think, im sure it'll pass and i keep munching raisins

bran · 25/01/2005 21:05

I think it's probably easier to resist now too Dior, but I remember when I first gave it up the cravings just kept on increasing for the first 2 or 3 weeks before they finally faded away. I did have chocolate over Christmas and I though I would have the cravings all over again, but it really wasn't too bad at all, probably on 3 days of not too bad cravings.

I didn't think it tasted too sweet though, I really, really enjoyed it when I had it and was sorry that I had to stop again.

I was definitely eating it more slowly at Christmas, but I never really had enough IYKWIM, I could hear it calling to me even when I'd had a quite a lot. In fact I'm a bit that I felt a little like having a toddler tantrum on Christmas morning because I had decided to eat chocolate on Christmas and boxing days and I had assumed that someone would give either me or my parents a box of chocolates, but no-one did, so I had to wait until dessert after Christmas dinner to have my first chocolate for months.

Hi All!!

Bran have you tried dermaguard? It is a barrier cream that keeps chemicals out. Use it when doing beauty treatments as it keeps water out and the chemicals too. It's also used by caterers/chefs to keep odours of hands.

Hi Dior, i think i was addicted to choc too...could shove it in without tasting it but always wanted more

monkeygirl · 26/01/2005 10:51

I cannot understand people who just can eat a square or two - maybe one day I'll be like that as well, sigh...I've definitely lost my overwhelming urges to buy a bar every time I'm in a shop now. In fact I know choccy cake will be on offer this weekend and it would be rude not to have a small slice (MIL's 80th b/day) but am terrified about it - what if the addiction kicks in again??

bran · 26/01/2005 18:23

Hi Champs, how are you doing? Dermaguard sounds good, I'll have a look at it. I suspect it would be a bit of a faff to put it on my entire body everytime I go swimming though, and wouldn't I look like a cross-channel swimmer? How do you get it off afterwards if it's water resistant?

Has anyone seen Woodpops recently? Just wondering how she's getting on. I suspect she's left this thread because she's now slim rather than a slimmer.

Wayhayyyyy I've just been to my weigh-in and lost 3 lbs. Only another half pound and I'll have lost 2 stone.

I know what you mean about birthday cake MG - if you don't have a slice then it feels as though you're not being sincere in your birthday wishes or something. Perhaps you could ask for a small slice, the person cutting it will ignore you because they always do, then say "Oh that's a huge slice, I'll share it with dh" and then let him eat most of it. If you let him hold the fork and just feed you one mouthful for every 3 that he has, not only will it look romantic but you won't be tempted to keep shoveling it in.

Flossam · 26/01/2005 20:15

Hi everyone,
Well done bran and FFF and everyone who's managed to loose. I'm off tomorrow to do my weight, dreading it. Don't feel like I've lost anything still. Have been doing my Davina and have been reasonably good.... Ok, Ok I had cake. Just one slice. And it was the healthiest looking one there, orange and blueberry. The best of the bad lot at the Nescafe cafe. And I was bloody starving. I'd walked for 45 minutes to the next town centre (still determine not to use buses alone anymore ) and was about to embark on my 45minutes back again. Can I please, please be forgiven? Thats two slices of cake in 4 days . Other than the chocolate cake DP made me have (honestly he forced me ) I have been quite good. Helped the chocolate cravings by having a pot of cadbury's light chocolate mousse in the evenings. They've all gone now so I'll try and stop for a while all together. Have been doing a gradual weaning programme since getting myself well and truely reliant on it at xmas! Anyway isn't it you are what you eat on? Better go and see if I can learn more and be converted! Wish me luck for tomorrow!

Evesmama · 26/01/2005 20:57

puff...how did you do???

Evesmama · 26/01/2005 20:57

and ..WELL DONE BRAN

PuffTheMagicDragon · 26/01/2005 21:01

That's brill bran - well done !

Evesmama - I stayed the same this week, which seems to happen every couple of weeks and I had a huge meal out on Sat with lots of champagne, so its a fair kop! Here's to the next weigh in!

Evesmama · 26/01/2005 21:05

well done puff, see it was better than you'd have thought!!, hope you've had a good start to the week

monkeygirl · 26/01/2005 21:16

Thank you Bran and Dior - lol, definitely one of my demons getting his first airing for a while. The sharing with dh would normally be a great idea but he has been on diet and has lost 1.5 stones in a month . I think I will have a small slice and try not to lick the plate clean as well .

Well done Bran - that is ace! (Nearly) 2 stones is a great achievement.

Flossam, I'm in no position to comment on cake when I seem to be planning my whole week around it . All that walking must have burnt of a fair bit of it - was it good??

Evesmama - still no choccy??

Evesmama · 26/01/2005 21:20

nope!!{grin]
9 days with none at all!
sorely tempted today though, but have been eating bananas instead!, me and dp need to set up shares with a hot country that produce them.. or maybe even move there!...now theres an idea, ill start a banana farm

monkeygirl · 27/01/2005 10:37

I'll have some shares in that plantation please. I've been a bit desparate today cos am hungry again and have no bananas!! Will be going on a hunting expedition later before I do something I regret.

nowayout · 27/01/2005 13:34

ooh, am starving today..think its cos i feel fed up, but havent eat, didnt even have time for brekkie, so had ravioli on toast and bag of crisps(not so good)

champs · 27/01/2005 17:03

hi all!!
bran, well done!! you are doing so well.
the dermaguard is like normal cream/lotion and cannot be seen. you could just put it on in morning before you get dreasses, it lasts for hours and hours. it gradually wears of i think it was 10hrs but cant remember... have misplaced mine so cant check. will try and find out.

monkeygirl-- you may just find that you dont enjoy the cake. It will taste strange. and if you do enjoy it then just go with it and count it towards your daily intake,( can't remember what diet you're doing.)
