Look you lot - this is not the place to boast about how much cake you can eat - lets hear some boasts about who ate a whole cucumber in one sitting instead .

I'm doing well today, I went down 2 points last week and found it difficult, but I think I've started to manage a bit better now. Although I did have a wobbly 10 mins this afternoon when I logged on and found everyone talking about cake, it gave me an instant craving. But I had some rice cakes instead.

I did the calculator on-line Dior and it dropped me down, probably because I have a sedentary occupation. But under the old system I was only 2 lbs away from dropping down so it was due to happen anyway.

Has the extra 2 points made any difference to your weight loss?

18 points would have been very low, I can't imagagine coping with that. But then I won't have to thankfully, as my goal weight is only just under 11 stone. At the moment I'm on 24 points, and I'm only just getting the hang of it. Last week I keep running short at the end of the day, but this week I've been shaving half a point off breakfast and 1 point off lunch and it's not too bad.

Lol Dior, surely you can't be jealous of me that I'm fatter than you and therefore get more points. But if you really wanted the extra points you could always fill a rucksack with 5 stone of wobbly something (lard perhaps) and carry that around all day, like I do (although I don't need the rucksack).

I had 7 stone to loose altogether, and I've lost 25 lbs, so just over 5 stone to go. My healthy bmi goes up to 11st 6lbs, but I've tentatively set my target for 10st 13.5lbs which would be exactly 7 stone off, although I'm tempted to aim for 10st 11.5lbs which would be exactly 100 lbs, a nice round number. It's still a long way off though, so I think I'll make my final decision about goal weight when I get closer and just see how I feel.

How far do you have to go to your goal weight?

Well done on losing that weight so fast, that's great. I think it will probably be more than a year until I'm at target as it's taken me since August to lose the 25 lbs, but I did know that it would be slow as I have PCOS so I'm not too worried. There is a possibility that the loss might speed up as I get closer to target as the PCOS symptoms should ease up a bit then, but I'm not counting on it.

What was the concensus on not eating all day Essbee? Have a healthy breakfast tomorrow to atone for tonights indian. I hesitate to ask, but was it something good like tandori chicken or something bad with a creamy sauce?

What? You fell asleep and only woke up in time for an indian take-away? You must have been really tired.

Poor thing, you must have been ravenous by dinner time. Oh well, next time you go shopping you can get some healthy snack things for the car for the next time it happens, nuts and raisins and things like that.

Kittypickle · 22/01/2005 09:15

Morning all, I haven't posted for a bit. There are some brilliant losses on this thread, I definitely need the inspiration this morning. I lost a pound last week, but found that the WW leader had worked out my loss incorrectly the week before by a half a pound, which was a bit annoying and had managed to lose my WI card - she really is the worst leader I have ever seen.

I got totally carried away with my points yesterday, bacon sarnies and Baileys amongst other things and have basically eaten twice my points for the day.So I'm going to have to save 4 points a day for the next few days and start earning some bonus points.

Can those of you doing the GI diet give me a rough idea of what you eating on an average day ?

Flossam · 22/01/2005 10:45

Shh, Don't want to get too excited, but on measuring myself this morning it seems like I've lost two inches round my waist, hips and bust (thats changing all the time due to BF though). Thats in about a week I think! Waiting for DP to get in the shower before I see if there is any improvement on the target trouser situation! Wish me luck and I'll be back to report back later .

bunny2 · 22/01/2005 17:00

How did you get on Flossam?

kittypickle, my GI day is as follows:

I eat porridge for breakfast with some nuts, chopped apricots, sultanas, grated apple or whatever ele I can throw in to make it palatable. I quite like it now and it does fill you up till lunch. If I am bored with porrige I have poached egg on granary toast or bacon sandwich (granary again)

Midomrning some fruit if I cna be bothered to eat it.

Lunch beans (has to be Heinz) on granary toast or homemade soup or some pasta with tomato sauce.

Afternoon slich of toast or oatcakes and hummous or some fruit.

Supper - pasta with tomato and vegetable sauce, salad or vegetable chilli and rice, or roast chicken, small helping of potato, lots of vegetables.

Chocolate and wine is, at the moment, restricted to weekends. Dont know how long I will abstain from a drink with dinner every night though.

I do find eating like this easy as I dont have to measure tiny portions out. The main things to avoid are potatoes (esp mashed ), white bread and pastry products, and anything over-processed. Chocolate should be at least 70% cocoa so mars bars are out and wine should be red my favourite drink.

There are loads of web reasources - I'll try to find them for you if you want
