☀️THE SUMMER COUNTDOWN THREAD ☀️

Fresh new month, fresh new start, fresh new habits. Jump right in to reset & refresh to become a healthier version of yourself in time for a Sizzling Summer!

As no one size fits all, members need to follow their own way of eating to LOSE or MAINTAIN. This thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

We generally have WOW (Weigh On Wednesday) day each week. However post and share your progress as often or as little as you prefer. Do what works for you.

The important thing is not to think of it as a diet (based on deprivation and unsustainable) but more a way of life (sustainable & enjoyable).

I calorie count based on a lower carb Mediterranean diet. I intermittent fast and generally eat twice a day.

Are you in😊 What food plan will you be following? What do you want to change and why?

Good morning all from the gym! Taking it steady but a short ride on the bike to keep things ticking over.

Today is going to be tough. I'm alone all day, no structure, no work, no one else to cook for. So I know today will be a snacky day. Plan is to embrace it! After the gym I am off the the shop to buy lots of healthy low cal snacks that I can enjoy guilt free.

Have a good day all.

Echobelly · 19/05/2022 11:15

Had lovely leaving lunch and drinks with colleagues yesterday and was encouraged to see that it wasn't as much of a blow-out as I expected calorie-wise, so this gives me hope that holiday over half term will not totally derail my progress. I'll probably have slightly fewer treats and less booze than normal, but I don't have to be too good!

SunshineCake · 19/05/2022 16:25

Hi everyone and thank you for thinking of me @buzzofthebumblebee.

I had a really lovely time with my friend and on the way home I rang another friend for a proper catch up chat. I have done a lot of crying. These are friends from when I was 14 and I now live hundreds of miles away from them and don't see them enough. One is very special.

I'm feeling emotional, as well as really tired as I barely slept, plus DD is due back home tomorrow and I am worrying about whether she will make it back. She has kept in touch which has helped.

Still no chocolate since Sunday. No weight loss though Hmm.

Benjispruce4 · 19/05/2022 16:31

Glad you had a nice time and a catch-up always does us good.
B- poached egg on seedy toast.
L- tin of mackerel in tomato sauce with salad, apple, plum
D-Tofu and spinach curry with brown rice.plus a kiwi

Puffalicious · 19/05/2022 16:49

OP I don't think I asked you a question! If I did ive forgotten😀

Was out meeting my lovely friend today. We met in Morrison's cafe - not exotic but halfway for us as she moved to the country a few years back- and I was delighted to find detailed information on all food including calories/ protein/ sugars. It makes it so easy to choose wisely (porridge with berries and honey 250 ish compared to what I nearly had, eggs, avocado on toast- 750+😱). I know some folk don't like it, but it's so useful.

SanFranBear · 19/05/2022 16:50

Sounds like a lovely time, Sunshine - old friends are definitely the best type, seen you at your lowest as well as your highest. DD staying in touch is such a positive compared to where she was a few weeks ago - hope she comes home safe and sound tomorrow and you're able to relax! Well done on no chocolate 👏

Quiet day today but going to try a new recipe for dinner - chicken breast topped with passata & garlic and crunched up nachos.. I'll have mine with salad, DC with pasta. Not sure why but it's really appealed to me and I couldn't stop thinking about it so am going to make it and hope it lives up to my expectations!

milkfromthesleepycow · 19/05/2022 18:50

Glad you had a lovely catch up with friends @SunshineCake. Good for the soul

I missed my run this morning as my legs felt SO bad from doing some weights yesterday. Will try again tomorrow. Foods been fairly on plan so far but I have a nagging 'fuck it' feeling that I'm trying to ignore. Probably just work stress looking for an outlet

Gakatsbsk · 19/05/2022 19:38

I forgot to post 😂. Thanks for the welcome guys , I was doing my usual avoiding starting etc, but 3 days ago I started ADHD meds and they have been a miracle for eating. I’m probably under eating atm but have very little appetite or cravings.

I previously posted that my motivation was a holiday in Gran Canaria , for various logistical reasons we are now going on a trashy trip to Benidorm instead (suits us down to the ground). That’s in 9 weeks from Monday, and I’m hoping to be at least a stone down by then . I don’t have an official start weight but roughly 13 stone. I’m actually okay with how my body looks but have a BMI of 32 and don’t want adverse health effects later in life.

My overall goal is a few stone off. No timescale.

Today I’ve eaten:
1 x mini orange
1/2 cup of cuppa soup
1 x ice lolly
gousto meat free fajitas (could only manage 1 wrap (portion is 3) and about half of the filling)
1x drumstick chew bar
total cals so far: 645

This evening I’m going to try have some fruit and will probably have another ice lolly, the nausea and zero appetite is challenging so loving ice lollies ( I am absolutely shocked that I’m experiencing no appetite or cravings, never in my life before has this happened).

HouseofHolbein · 19/05/2022 21:48

I had a lovely walk to the sea this morning and had a rum and raisin ice cream 🍦 sitting on a bench 😊 sunburn on my neck now tho 🤣🤣

off to bed now with my alarm set for 3:55am 🥱

SunshineCake · 20/05/2022 06:56

Welcome @Gakatsbsk and I am glad you have meds that help and everything is going well. Make sure you are getting enough of everything you need and remember fluids.

Your ice cream sounds lovely @HouseofHolbein though shame about the sunburn. Hope work isn't too hard.

I am really struggling today. I'm already tearful about something and then remembered it was Friday so worrying about whether DD will get home. By nine she should be well on the train back. I've also seen a post that she is hoping to go to Wales next weekend.

I am going to go for a run then DH will take me to the local shopping centre as I want to keep busy and get out for a bit as I feel today will be really hard about both things.

Have a good day everyone.

SanFranBear · 20/05/2022 07:00

Morning Holbein (hoping everyone else is still having a lovely sleep!)

I've weighed in and am astounded as am 2kg down this week which is over 4lbs. Not sure if it's just different PJs but I don't care, I'm taking it.

SW: 104kg
CW: 81.9kg
May GW: 82.5kg

Means I've smashed my May goal which I wasn't sure I would a week ago. I should probably set another for next week but I think I'm just going to enjoy being the lightest I've been for 4 years today!

Off out for a hike this morning.. providing DS stays well - he's complaining about a bad stomach again but he's missed so much school, I'm going to send him in if he's not feeling too bad. But hoping he's fine as got a nice route planned.

Wishing you all a Fabulous Friday!

SanFranBear · 20/05/2022 07:06

Big hug to you, Sunshine - tough day ahead but sounds like you've got a plan... and shopping is good for the soul. Have you got anything specific you're looking for?

And sorry, Gakatsbsk, missed your message. I like your laid back attitude and a holiday in Gran Canaria sounds wonderful right now!

ginsparkles · 20/05/2022 07:13

Morning all !

@SunshineCake glad you had a lovely day yesterday and hoping that very soon DD will be home again.

@Gakatsbsk I do the avoiding too! Although am learning it doesn't really help!

So snacky day yesterday and whilst it was healthy food it was well over calories! But it was a lovely day, went to the gym, came home wrapped DD's birthday presents and then fell down the johnny depp amber herd rabbit hole for the evening!

Today back to being in control. Two long walks with friends on the agenda today; so that will keep me out of the house and away from the food!
Not sure if I am home for lunch or not so will be a sandwich for lunch one way or another. Then DD and DH are having hot dogs for tea, so I'll have sausages on a salad to off set yesterdays badness !

TheRealHousewife · 20/05/2022 08:24

Good Morning 😊

@SanFranBear Blummin well done, that’s awesome progress 👏👍 🏅

@ginsparkles Heard/Depp is a right malarkey isn’t it. Neither will come out of it well. The Vardy/Rooney debacle, I think RV has done a most spectacular home goal. As it’s a civil case and it goes on balance of probability (rather than beyond all reasonable doubt as in criminal law) I don’t think RV can win. I think she’s had a very tough week but she has brought it on herself.

Welcome back @Gakatsbsk , it’s a positive that you’re not putting yourself under time pressure, slow, steady & consistent will get you there👍

Menu
Meal 1 - Big Salad and grilled sea bass.
Meal 2 - Chicken Leg tray bake. Strawberries & kefir yoghurt.
Tea, Coffee, Water.

Enjoy your Friday!

Hope she's on a train@SunshineCake (unless you meant tonight)

2 good days in terms of eating window, not so much content inside that but ho hum 😁

Have a good weekend all!

ImALittlePea · 20/05/2022 10:50

So sorry everyone, I posted my results on Wednesday morning and then buggered off for a couple of days! I blame the DH and his birthday 😉

Some really great results! Well done everyone! Sorry, I can't remember who to tag (again) - and yes @milkfromthesleepycow I definitely have that problem!

@ginsparkles I love ALL cheese apart from cottage cheese - bleurgh! I don't mind that fact that DH doesn't like them, means I don't have to share 😋

Hope all is ok today @buzzofthebumblebee

buzzofthebumblebee · 20/05/2022 10:51

Great loss SanFranBear !! Well done you. Inspiring.

Enjoy meeting your friends Puff, Gin & everyone else. So good for the soul.

Ouch for the very early start House - did you get a new job with different shifts? Can't quite recall ...

Big squeeze hugs for you Sunshine. You are incredible that you are still looking after yourself too - going for a run etc - which is SO important as you live the rest of your nightmare. Take care.

Yay Friday indeed TheRealHousewife. Hope you are OK too.

I had a sneaky weigh-in and am down to 11 3. So only 1lb of "gain" to loose before I'm back to my low weight of 11 2. Then back to the question of how low do I go ... which I am sure I posted about in February / March !!! 10 10 would be good, but not sure if I could (a) get there or (b) maintain. But that's a debate for another day.

I'm not going to be around much - busy weekend - but sending happy positive NO SNACKING vibes ; )

GonnaGetGoingReturns · 20/05/2022 11:03

Good morning everyone!

Need to weigh...

Breakfast granola, black cherry yogurt and blueberries

Have been finding that on days when back in the office (only 2 per week) - it's really easy to grab something sweet either for the office or on way home, anyone else? Why? Suggestions?

By the way, @SunshineCake1 I am very pleased that your daughter is coming to see you and it sounds as if things have improved between both of you which I guessed as such, hope you have a nice time with her! Smile

Benjispruce4 · 20/05/2022 12:41

Can’t think of anything better than a rum and raisin ice cream by the sea.😋
@HouseofHolbein
B-boiled egg , seedy toast
L- feta and olive salad, 2x plums
D- king prawns with something- Any tasty ideas ?
Thinking if you @SunshineCake as you wait for your DD. Good that she’s been in touch so much.

SunshineCake · 20/05/2022 12:46

Well done on your loss @SanFranBear and I appreciated you posting in pounds too as I still haven't learnt about kg. Thank you too for your kind words. I have texted two of my oldest friends and they have helped me. DH and I did the shopping, bought crisps but not chocolate and I am going to buy some new trainers.

I went for my run. I did 8.14km!!!!! My longest in a really long time. Definitely since I broke my elbow if not from before glandular fever. I then weighed myself and nearly had a heart attack. Last weigh in I was 11 stone 11.2 and today I was 11 stone 9.6. Not as much as I first thought but still 1.6 and I am happy to see a nine.

Thank you @ginsparkles DD has messaged and I am picking her up at 2. Yay! Well done on getting back in control.

I was thinking of you this morning while running @TheRealHousewife . How are you?

@AnyoneElseFeelDone sounds like you did okay? DD is on the train.

Hi @buzzofthebumblebee and thank you. You are doing great. I am another one who needs to get back to where I was - 10 stone 8 - and then try and keep going. Feels achievable as I am 11 stone 9.

Thank you @GonnaGetGoingReturns . DD is back living at home, she has been to Scotland for a few days. She is renting a room for July and August back in the city she was at uni so that is going to be tough, as is next weekend when she goes to Wales.

SunshineCake · 20/05/2022 12:46

Thank you @Benjispruce4 , she volunteered to text every day and she has kept to her word.

Gakatsbsk · 20/05/2022 13:05

I just had a great mini lunch: mini white wrap, 100g baby plum tomatoes with salt and pepper and 30g vegan Philadelphia. Total 178 cals, so would be a great snack also, amazed how low cal Philadelphia is. Also had an ice lolly.

im on nights tonight so planning my evening meal before I head then some fruit overnight. Nights give me indigestion if I eat too much so need to be mindful.

trying to get a few more fruits and veggies in today.

Gakatsbsk · 20/05/2022 13:06

Planning to weigh in next week or week after at boots to see how things stand

SanFranBear · 20/05/2022 13:30

Your lunch sounds tasty, Gakatsbsk - and so low in cals! I must admit, I only tend to have tomatoes if their roasted, grilled or bbq'd - so they sort of 'pop' in your mouth! Soooo good!

I had a scrumptious tuna melt for lunch - normally don't have much bread but had the urge today. Big bowl of raspberries too 😋

Managed a nice 12k walk this morning as well (although was raining almost the entire time but its now properly sunny outside - grrr!) So a little pic for you, RealHousewife - snapped off a little village bridge!
