☀️THE SUMMER COUNTDOWN THREAD ☀️

Fresh new month, fresh new start, fresh new habits. Jump right in to reset & refresh to become a healthier version of yourself in time for a Sizzling Summer!

As no one size fits all, members need to follow their own way of eating to LOSE or MAINTAIN. This thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

We generally have WOW (Weigh On Wednesday) day each week. However post and share your progress as often or as little as you prefer. Do what works for you.

The important thing is not to think of it as a diet (based on deprivation and unsustainable) but more a way of life (sustainable & enjoyable).

I calorie count based on a lower carb Mediterranean diet. I intermittent fast and generally eat twice a day.

Been so busy with work and running after the kids this week that I've barely had time to check this thread. Sounds like several of you are really going through some tough and testing times - hang in there, you'll get through all this and out the other side...it just takes time. //hugs//

I've been on my 1,200cal plan for 1 week and 1 day now. Total loss so far = 2.8lbs which I'm quite chuffed with as I am a notoriously slow loser for weight. I've managed to run x4 (between 3k and 4.5k each time) and ordered myself some new running shorts for some motivation (and because its humid as f*ck here this week and I need some cooler clothing to work out in!). Annoyingly my period turned up totally unannounced (and uninvited I might add...the cheek!) at the weekend so I'm feeling bloated, crampy and bleugh today. I miss being able to dive head first into the biscuit barrel at hormonal times like these!

Todays menu:
B - banana
L - x2 ryvita w/ laughing cow and cherry tomatoes, pack of wotsits
S - cereal bar
D - Hello fresh Sri Lankan style veg curry with rice & muller Choc Fix yog

Should bring me in at 1,250ish cals
Hoping to drag my bloated butt out for a run once the kids are asleep too (but there's a high probability I'll just put my feet up and finish my book instead!)

Way back aways, RealHousewife, you posted an amazingly helpful video about why we sometimes stall with weight loss. I have a dear friend who's getting a bit demotivated (I've encouraged her to sign up here!) and I wondered if you could remind me who it was?

Oh no @HouseofHolbein ! That is not great news. Really unfair she can't resit must be a contingency plan for when students are unwell? As for the weed, lots of teenagers do it, she's bright enough to not be a sheep and follow and if isn't going to add to her life. Reality check might be enough 🤞.

Thank you @SanFranBear . I'll be back later getting all my tears out if my friend cancels ! I have heard from DD. She's sent some photos, video called us so we could see the view but sadly her room mates don't like her Sad.

Sorry about DD Holbien. Here in Scotland if kids are late, they're late: they get no extra time at all. And we have no such thing as re-sits. We had 3 kids wander in to Higher (Alevel) English 10 minutes late for no apparent reason, then expecting 10mins at the end- no chance! And I totally agree.

If your DD was genuinely ill, you can apply for extenuating circumstances, but if it was just over-sleeping/ weed she won't get it at all.

DS1 has his final exam on Thursday and that's both of them done. Wahey! Unfortunately we have a HUGE football match (European final) on Wed night. He's not a supporter of the team but loads of his friends are/ it's a Scottish team in the final! He's battering the revision so he can watch the game then straight to bed before an early exam. It's such huge deal that I think the Higher Biology results may be a little lower than expected this year for many! 🤣

Food okay today. Yesterday I was tired and before I knew it I'd absent-mindedly munched half a bag of cashews and some squashies🙈

So coming up on end of week 3 I'm now at 9st 3, having started 9 st 7. Realising I'm not feeling any more hungry than is normal for me, so my body's made that adjustment, or I'm just eating the right stuff now.

Tomorrow will be my first blow-out as I'm having a farewell lunch and drink with colleagues for the job I'm leaving after the best part of a decade, but I'm happy to allow it. Might try to get an extra gym session in this week to make up a little.

Plenty of salad for me today! Currently on 1039 cals so hoping to stick there for the day and that I will be repaid by the scales tomorrow morning!!!

B-boiled egg, seedy toast
L- salmon salad, apple
D- lean chilli with small portion of brown rice.
Walked miles as DD needed clothes so we went after work. Not the best idea with a teenager on a hot afternoon but luckily she was pleasant and grateful.I was also grateful to get in and find DH making a chilli.

I think that is relevant for me with my dd too..

Thankfully my friend has confirmed for tomorrow so morning rubbish as dentist but then a little shopping then off to see my friend. So I am happy.

Still worrying about dd. She sent a photo of a drink. Did not look like pop.
Friday can't come quick enough and I am holding my breath hoping the phone doesn't ring.

Really hoping for a good WOW tomorrow but I won't be able to run first with having the dentist unless I get up early early.

Tbh this is where I am with her. After my experiences with my eldest I’m letting her get on with it. If she has to resist next year or take a different path to get where she wants to be then that’s fine.

I’m not having weed or tobacco in the house tho. Can’t stand the smell apart from anything else.

Fully agree with what others have said (sorry, can't remember names to tag 🤦‍♀️) that I in no way feel you bring the thread down @SunshineCake. I started posting on this in Jan for weight loss support but it's much more than that, and I certainly haven't posted exclusively about that. We care, so please don't worry.

Hugs to you too @TheRealHousewife I didn't see your initial post, but I hope you are ok.

@HouseofHolbein did you have the convo last night? I must confess, I was your DD when I was a teen in terms of weed usage. I unfortunately was bullied and consequently fell into a bad crowd, and smoked probably from the ago of 14 for a number of years. It didn't affect my education overall (although I'm aware I probably would have done better had I not been stoned all the time - having said that I achieved very decent grades and a degree), so it doesn't have to mean that she won't get through them and do well. (Sorry if that sounds horribly patronising!)

I decided to weigh today, partly because it's DH's birthday and we've got a few lunch and dinner based plans in this week now. WOW indeed! Lost 1/2lb!! So happy.

@HouseofHolbein totally with you on that. Also I get the second child thing. I’m calmer with DD18 as I’ve seen DD21 through the teens and most things are just phases. But, you absolutely have to make your boundaries clear …..then keep calm and expect her to tow the line. Hang in there. I read ‘Get out of my life, but first can you give me a lift into town?’ and it helped me to look at things differently.
Off to WOW. Will be back. Not expecting any off tbh.

WOW is I’m a little bit down from last week .5lb 👍 Not a lot I know but it’s better than yo-yoing.

The past 2 days I e been making the 7 elements of the Jubilee Trifle. On balance the whole wasn’t greater than the sum of its parts. A well executed Sherry Strawberry Trifle will take some beating tbh. I didn’t eat the full affair yesterday, only had half of a small individual one sans Lemon Swiss roll as I can’t have gluten. The OH had the complete thing and says it was lovely but agreed with me.

Menu
Meal 1 - Vegetable Soup. Pear.
Meal 2 - Bangers and veg. 1/2 trifle 😮
Tea, Coffee, Water.

This week I’ve been up and down between 139.4 and 138.6 13 but first time at exactly 138. I’m sure you all appreciate the small gains. Expected a slow down after initial whoosh. Am still dry and feeling better for it. Happy Wednesday!

Will pop on properly later as still mid morning grind but bit gutted the Jubilee Trifle wasn't all you'd hope, RealHousewife.. I was quite excited about it and thought I might attempt it - even though it looks a little intimidating! Mind you, the lemon Swiss roll is what tempted me in so might be better with that element?

Good luck for those WoW'ing today. I'll be walking later but not until much later as have a late meeting but still very much looking forward to it!

I'm 3lb down. Very pleased. Going to celebrate with a sea swim later. Have signed up for a virtual challenge to swim the English Channel. I've set it at a year to complete given that I only swim about 600m in a session!

@Flowers111 Targeting 9st 6 but in another 8lbs I'll be within the healthy bmi range for my height (167cm- although I thought I was 168cm until I measured myself which was annoying!). 2st 8lbs off in total Smile 2oz is still 2oz, all cumulative success! What's your aim?
