☀️THE SUMMER COUNTDOWN THREAD ☀️

Fresh new month, fresh new start, fresh new habits. Jump right in to reset & refresh to become a healthier version of yourself in time for a Sizzling Summer!

As no one size fits all, members need to follow their own way of eating to LOSE or MAINTAIN. This thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

We generally have WOW (Weigh On Wednesday) day each week. However post and share your progress as often or as little as you prefer. Do what works for you.

The important thing is not to think of it as a diet (based on deprivation and unsustainable) but more a way of life (sustainable & enjoyable).

I calorie count based on a lower carb Mediterranean diet. I intermittent fast and generally eat twice a day.

Are you in😊 What food plan will you be following? What do you want to change and why?

Stuck on 9st 6 last 3 days - realised I have had almost half my cals at the end of the day since Friday, and dinner has been late those days, so wondering if that might be it. Also may be hormonal - I don't get period symptoms because I'm on contraceptive implant, but big zit in the middle of my nose suggests maybe I'm on or around my period, such as it is!

Going to try and get more in during first half of the day now I've got more of an idea of what meals work.

HouseofHolbein · 09/05/2022 09:02

Right then. Weight up after yesterday which is to be expected tbh but it was bloody worth it 🤣🤣

I’m going to restart IF. Reckon if I loosely aim for 7-11 I should be able to work it round my late shifts. Today I am going to be drinking lots of water and I’ll make food to take with me to work this afternoon. I want to loose about 5lb. I can do this.

TheRealHousewife · 09/05/2022 12:13

Good Morning Everyone

@HouseofHolbein Your posts always make me laugh/giggle/smile but the upside down photos and @Benjispruce4 comment had me spluttering coffee over iPad 😅😅😅You’ll soon see the weight disappear with how active you are 🏃‍♀️ 👍, plus the benefit of socialising with your buddies is priceless ❤️

A warm welcome @Greentomatoes21 Pleased to read you feel motivated! March’s thread was a good one if you like reading 😬. You’ll get there 👍

@8stone13 I always feel more swelte in the warmer months too even if I weigh the same 🤷‍♀️ I think for me it’s because I’m slightly more active. You still have good stats 👍

@Flowers111 well done on restarting your 5k… I wouldn’t stress about the 1lb, it might be natural fluctuations. I’d only worry if it became 10lb 😬

@Eesha try to not feel so despondent, although I can see why you feel frustrated. Losing isn’t easy and for some of us it’s difficult. You have lost overall! Not as much as you’d like but a loss nonetheless 👍👏. Imagine that being a gain if you’d not made any healthy changes. I have missed how you were making changes. Are you comfortable posting a typical days eating/drink intake?

Menu
Meal 1 - Cheese omelette.
Meal 2 - Chicken tray bake. Raspberries & Kefir yoghurt.
Tea, coffee, water.

Enjoy you day and whatever you do, do it with gusto 💪

Ha ha it was a bit cheeky of me wasn’t it. Hope I didn’t cause offence.
B-30g oats with water , berries , tbsp yoghurt and tea.
L- salad with leftover bbq salmon, apple
Not sure what I’m having for dinner.

TheRealHousewife · 09/05/2022 13:08

Absolutely no offence @Benjispruce4 , it was refreshing to see light hearted & funny posts. 😅😅😅@HouseofHolbein has a great sense of humour and I certain she will have found your comment funny 😁

Thanks @TheRealHousewife! Fab thread. Menu today - trying to do 16:8 most days as not hungry in the morning so making most of it - riveta, cherry toms, low cal cream cheese. Spag bol, homemade, low on the spag of course! X

TheRealHousewife · 09/05/2022 16:25

You’re welcome @Greentomatoes21 I naturally don’t feel hungry before midday but on the days I do I will eat earlier. I find upping protein, fibre and good fats is crucial if you want to feel satiated and stay on track. I try to eat whole foods and rarely have processed but I understand not everyone has the time to prep from scratch. How I eat is really a way of life. I don’t ban anything but remain mindful of portion control. It’s important to enjoy your food and not feel deprived. Good luck 🤞

Can I join you all please? In desperate need of a team to keep me accountable, but not willing to part with £5+/week for a SW meeting or the like!

Today is Day 1 for me. Went out for a lovely meal last night, and now I'm on it.

Weight: 10st 1.5
Height: 5ft 2
Target weight: 9st
Will be calorie counting, aiming for 1,200/day. I'm office-based so I have quite a sedentary activity level, despite going for a nice walk every evening!

TheRealHousewife · 09/05/2022 16:47

A warm welcome to the thread @SNAFU247 Has anything prompted you to do this? Do you have a deadline such as a special holiday/wedding? Or have you decided to invest in yourself and get fit and healthy? Sorry if invasion, don’t feel you need to answer.

HouseofHolbein · 09/05/2022 17:00

Tbf @Benjispruce4 it was a pretty accurate comment 🤣🤣 I had to go to bed at 8pm daytime drinking kills me 🤣🤣🤣

SNAFU247 · 09/05/2022 17:01

Well, my baby is almost 1year now (I have 2 kids, 6yo and almost 1yo) and I really can't be using 'I just had a baby' as my excuse any longer! Unfortunately, covid lockdowns, WFH and then pregnancy/mat leave have me a good 1st heavier than I should be.... and as a short-arse, 1st is really obvious! I'm so fed up on opening my wardrobe and not being able to fit into 60% of it!

I am going on holiday early on in the summer holidays too, and I must admit I would like to be a bit more confident in myself by then!

SunshineCake · 09/05/2022 17:36

Welcome @SNAFU247 . I hope your plan goes well.

TheRealHousewife · 09/05/2022 18:06

You’re a super mom in my eyes @SNAFU247 2 young children AND working. Working moms are hero’s 🦸‍♀️ I’m the same as you in that I’m not very tall and any extra weights shows! Visualise yourself rocking your summer clothes anytime the munchies hit (+ up protein to make munchies less likely) 😬

Benjispruce4 · 09/05/2022 18:49

The upside down jagerbomb (?) was pretty self explanatory he he, so I’m glad I didn’t cause offence. Looks like a great bunch of running pals. It’s all about balance after all.
Made a lean bolognaise tonight and enjoyed with small amount of spaghetti and lots of salad while DH has a generous bowl, Parmesan and 2 slices of garlic bread.😏Oh to be a very tall man. Having said that, he burns off loads more than me as he is very active and naturally lean. Haven’t weighed since Saturday so I’m looking forward to WOW as I can definitely feel my belly is flatter.

milkfromthesleepycow · 09/05/2022 19:13

Sounds like you're on the right track @SNAFU247. If it's any consolation I'm try to lose 'baby weight' from my 9 year old!

I think I messed it up today!

B: slice multi seed toast with cheese
Went for a sea swim (but only managed about 200m before I got too cold and had to come out!)

L: ham, tomatoes,cucumber

C25K week 2 run 1
Felt so dizzy afterwards inhaled an apple and packet of crisps!
Still starving and about to sit down to my chicken and vegetables for dinner

But have felt really drained since I stopped doing weights and started more cardio based exercise. Not really sure what I'm doing wrong!

Flowers111 · 09/05/2022 19:30

Thanks @TheRealHousewife up another 2 lbs this morning clearly something seriously wrong with my scales 🤣🤣 I'm AF, and upped the exercise and getting loads of sleep.
Oh well ! Plough on.

@8stone13 - omg last time I was that weight was literally 2 decades ago or more actually 2.5 😭

I had less weight when the kids were small. I was in great shape for the first 10 years. Anyway !! It's early days. 2.5 weeks of new regime. Baby steps.

Echobelly · 09/05/2022 20:06

@SNAFU247 - very similar to me. I'm about same height, was at 10 stone before going back to the gym twice a week and starting to eat lighter, earlier dinner six weeks ago, got to about 9stone 7 that way, have started 1200 cals a day a week and a half ago, but not really seeing impact of that yet. Seeing if I can maybe stick with it until I get to 8 stone 7 so it might take me longer to get over 9 stone again, but may settle for just getting under 9 stone.

Puffalicious · 09/05/2022 20:44

Feeling a bit peed off, to be honest. I'm seriously struggling with feeling deprived as I'm trying to stay around 1000 cals on IF. It's the only way the weight moves for me. It really isn't a lot.

After 2 entire weeks of it I lost only 1lb and I'm just a bit disillusioned. Not a great day motivation wise I think the long evenings after 7 with nothing are HARD.

SunshineCake · 09/05/2022 20:50

I hear you @Puffalicious . 1000 calories is really low though. I do feel of you don't eat enough then weight loss stalls. How about a few days off being so strict? I was thinking today when I was doing Diet Chef years ago I was fed up as the food isn't that nice. I had a week where I ate what I wanted while not going really mad. I lost 5lbs. I think it was because I had been on such a strict calorie amount.

You have lost the amount we planned for May, you are trying and it will happen but do make sure you are eating enough.

HouseofHolbein · 09/05/2022 21:42

@Benjispruce4 we say we are a drinking club with a running problem 🤣🤣 honestly I love them all so much we have a lot of fun 😊 they are also super supportive of all members which is lovely.

pennysays · 09/05/2022 22:28

Thank for the new thread @TheRealHousewife im still here. Hormones settled for a few weeks, sun is out and back to my exercise routine. I’ll keep checking in, if only to see more of @HouseofHolbein cats in bonnets. Omg so cute.

SW: 80kg
CW: 73kg (like you @Crazzzycat are we weight buddies?)
GW? Going to get under 70kg this month.

Benjispruce4 · 09/05/2022 22:31

Ha ha @HouseofHolbein i like the sound of that!
@Puffalicious ibagree with @sunshine that you may be restricting too much and your body is holding on to fuel for your extra activity. I stayed the same after 2 weeks of 18:6 then switched back to 3 calorie counted meals and it started dropping. I think because IF messes up my bowel habits so I get a bit blocked.(soz). Try a different pattern for a week and see if it shifts anything.

Puffalicious · 09/05/2022 22:55

Thanks Sunshine you're always so caring. Hard day at work too, so just think I'm grumping.

Perhaps you and Benji are right. I'll see how the scales go this Sunday and re-evaluate. I'm not hungry in the morning, so 11am is good for me. I've always eaten by 7pm- kids so dinner by 6pm usually- it's just the no snacks, not even fruit, after 7 that's killing me.

Like I say, tomorrow's another day, and I'll re-evaluate at the weekend.

Thanks gals 😍

SunshineCake · 10/05/2022 06:25

Everyone is allowed a grumpy day @Puffalicious . Remember me last year? I was always sulking as seemed to be the only one not losing and when I did it was about an ounce when everyone else was losing pounds in seconds Grin. I am probably still the worst performing but I have kept up with my running for two years. Yesterday was actually two years to the day since I started but I didn't run as felt awful and have only remembered now. I will run today and might try a longer one.

I am doing IF too and sometimes I like an early dinner but if it is too early then I really struggle in the evening. Usually around 7-8pm too. I was having a 3pm snack, usually chocolate or a biscuit as I was finding there wasn't enough time or meals for me to have any and life without chocolate is not happening, sometimes I wasn't hungry and then it becomes emotional as I want to eat chocolate as it is nice and not just, or even, because I am hungry.

I have been sticking to my fasting but I am not sure I have had a nett loss yet this month <checks> From May 1st to my last weigh in on the 8th I am down by 1.6lb. I still have 1 stone 3.4 lb to lose to get back to where I was before I got glandular fever and broke my elbow though but we all know I am the 🐢Queen of having to lose the same weight multiple times.

Come on @Puffalicious We have got this !!!!

Benjispruce4 · 10/05/2022 06:48

@SunshineCake I think you are amazing r with all the extra worry you are carrying with you at the moment. It would be easy to dive into the wrong comfort foods. But you’re coping. A run will do you good I’m sure. 💐
