Hard to believe itโ€™s April already ๐Ÿ˜ฎ. Fresh new month, fresh new start, fresh new habits. Jump right in to reset & refresh to become a healthier version of yourself.

As no one size fits all, members need to follow their own way of eating. This thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

We generally have WOW (Weigh On Wednesday) day each week. However post and share your progress as often or as little as you prefer. Do what works for you.

The important thing is not to think of it as a diet (based on deprivation and unsustainable) but more a way of life (sustainable & enjoyable).

I calorie count based on a lower carb Mediterranean diet. I intermittent fast and generally eat twice a day.

Are you in๐Ÿ˜Š What food plan will you be following? What do you want to change and why?

I have had people tell me DD is in the autism spectrum and also that she isn't so I'm not sure what to think.

I am sorry you have had such a difficult times @DrRuthGalloway and still are doing so.

I had a talk with a friend who told me I am a good mum and my dd is very strong willed. This afternoon dh and I talked some more about dd going away etc and he expects her to try again Sad.

SunshineCake1 · 26/04/2022 17:49

I miss joining in properly with what this thread is meant to be about so tomorrow my plan is to do better.

SingaporeSlinky · 26/04/2022 20:32

Hi everyone, Iโ€™m back from Mexico! 2 weeks of blissful family time, 30 degree heat, just half a day of rain, pool every day, toes in the sand, no cooking, no cleaning, heaven.

I will weigh in tomorrow, I have no idea what my weight might be, but Iโ€™m not bothered, because I felt great, got some lovely compliments on photos we posted while we were there. I did eat more than I intended, just because it was all-inclusive and the food was so good, and a few more mojitos than usual (I rarely drink). But the 3 months of calorie counting and gym was totally worth it, and I fully intend to carry on. Iโ€™m back at the gym for a class tomorrow morning, and Iโ€™ve stocked up on my greek yoghurt, skyr, berries and granola so back to my usual routine.

Iโ€™ve got quite a few pages to catch up on, and seems Iโ€™ve missed an annoying site update, but Iโ€™ll have a read through.

SanFranBear · 26/04/2022 20:32

tomorrow my plan is to do better.

I think you're doing bloody amazing already, Sunshine. You have to take care of body and mind and sounds like you need to focus on you and DH at the moment. Wish I could come give you a squidge, grab you for a 3k walk (sorry, no running over this way!) and let you vent and scream into the ether! Life can be really hard at times Flowers

For some reason, I bought some of my favourite sweets in the Pound Shop when I nipped in the other day and so ate far too many this afternoon. Meant instead of enjoying raspberries and chocolate mousse after dinner, my DC got extra large helpings and I got to pretend I was too full for my portion. Noone to blame but myself and determined to limit the damage but won't be doing that again. I clearly can't have certain treats in the house or I have no self control.

Ah well - tomorrow is another day!

SanFranBear · 26/04/2022 20:35

Welcome back, SingaporeSlinky! Compliments are so fantastic and your holiday sounds lush.. very jealous. Also very impressed you're already booked back into a gym session tomorrow - dedication!!

buzzofthebumblebee · 27/04/2022 08:22

welcome back from your holiday @SingaporeSlinky - sounds like you had an amazing time. Well deserved !! And ignore what the scales say, because it was all worth it, as you say.

WOW not kind to me. But I had forgotten what day of the week it was, and drunk pint of water beforehand. 11 7, so I'm up and down like anything at the moment. Plus, only have myself to blame as over-ate far too much after my big run Sunday. Yet another month I have been making empty promises to myself. Will May be better?

Have a good day everyone !!

Flowers111 · 27/04/2022 08:26

Hi everyone - I can't keep up with all the posts ! I'm going up and down the same 2lbs, down this morning, hopefully will break the 12st barrier soon. Have been exercising every day trying to be good but not exactly starving...

Crazzzycat · 27/04/2022 08:50

Morning all! I weighed myself this morning and am 73.3 kg. I donโ€™t know how that compares to last week as I donโ€™t think I wrote the numbers down anywhere ๐Ÿ˜‚ I do know that it is exactly the same weight as I was at the start of the month and thatโ€™s good enough for me.

Iโ€™m not in a dissimilar position to you buzz when it comes to motivation (and have been since the start of the year!). I think we should give ourselves a massive pat on the back for at least still trying. Iโ€™m sure things will fall into place again motivation wise and until then the main thing for me is to try not to go completely off the rails.

HouseofHolbein · 27/04/2022 08:52

Morning! Looks like Iโ€™ll be finishing the month about where I started ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚ must try harder in May!

well done everyone for posting ๐Ÿ˜Š and keeping going ๐Ÿ˜Š

ImALittlePea · 27/04/2022 08:58

So I don't weigh until Friday, but had a little NSV today. I couldn't find my regular black jeans to wear this morning, had a root in the wardrobe and cane across a pair of size 10s that I'd kept during a clear out hoping I'd fit into them again. They fit!!!! I don't think I've managed to get into these for over two years, maybe longer! Such a boost.

Holiday sounds bliss @SingaporeSlinky and amazing you're getting straight back to pre holiday habits straight away. That's always a hard thing to do, so well done!

ImALittlePea · 27/04/2022 08:59

(btw my regular black jeans I've been wearing are a 14! Bonkers)

8stone13 · 27/04/2022 09:19

Welcome back @SingaporeSlinky, all sounds amazing ๐Ÿ‘‹๐Ÿป

@ImALittlePea Oh that blasted chocolate - one taste & you're hooked! I'm battling it away at the moment as once I start I can't stop ๐Ÿ˜ฌ

Weds 27th April - 9s 4lb
BMI 21.5
BF 24.0

Scales almost stuck on 3 & 3/4lb! Stats coming down, it has dropped colder here but I cut down food intake yesterday & woke hungry so I'm doing better now.

Just quickly going back to the body changes discussion, I'm not for a second saying we simply get bigger with age so there's no point trying to fight it ๐Ÿ˜€ Just that our bodies change with the decades, which is why the amount of body fat we need to be healthy changes with age, healthy BMI is age-dependent etc. My BF & BMI are in the lower end of healthy for a 46 year old, they wouldn't have been for me at 20. I have clothes I could get into at 20 that I wouldn't have a price of getting into now, & yet I'm still essentially the right weight/fat etc for my body at my life stage. The key thing is being healthy & content with our bodies relative to the life stage we're at, which actually is what we're all fundamentally aiming for on here I think ๐Ÿ™‚

TheRealHousewife · 27/04/2022 09:43

Good Morning Everyone

Last official WOW for April (will weigh last day also) and itโ€™s looking like Iโ€™m on track to MAINTAIN. My body wonโ€™t budge on this one. Sounds like we are the same this month @HouseofHolbein @Crazzzycat ๐Ÿ˜ฌ

A warm welcome back @SingaporeSlinky sounds like you had a great time and were able to fully confidently enjoy it! ๐Ÿ‘.

For those Peeps battling chocolate addiction โ€ฆ can you not have it in the house, or leave it in the car? Some people are able to abstain whilst itโ€™s in sniffing distance but most mere mortals (me included) can hear it calling from the cupboard ๐Ÿ˜ฌ

I second what @8stone13 says about being healthy and content for the life stage we are at ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘โญ๏ธ Very true!

@ImALittlePea great NSV petit pois ๐Ÿ‘

@Flowers111 Itโ€™ll come, just keep going, youโ€™re doing great!

@buzzofthebumblebee You wrote โ€˜will May be betterโ€™ โ€ฆ it could be if you set your intention to โ€˜Onโ€™ and keep imagining what change could be possible. Easier said than done but I believe you can do it. Plan, Prepare, Execute. ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘

I have something on this morning but I intend to create LOSE IT! May 2022 later. The last full month before Summer starts and who doesnโ€™t want to go into Summer looking & feeling their best!

@TheRealHousewife I love @ImALittlePea being a petit poi! ๐Ÿ˜€

My only solution to my actually quite serious chocolate addiction is not to have it anywhere near me. I made the choice not to buy any on Monday & honestly felt so much better for not having any yesterday. If I have more than 2 hot chocolates in a day I can literally feel the crave. It makes me quite unnerved actually ๐Ÿ˜ฌ I might try to go back to what I managed at the start of the year - getting some in on Saturday, having it on Saturday night, then just not buying any more ๐Ÿค”

ginsparkles · 27/04/2022 10:00

Morning !

So officially WOW, I have managed to lose any regain and finish the month 2lb down on where I started. Head feeling more in the zone and am thinking about portion sizes a lot. Last nights dinner was pasta bake and usually I just divide the bake between the 3 of us in bowls. Last night I put a large salad on a plate and dish myself a smaller helping of pasta next to it, giving DD and DH extras. Am hoping these little changes will make all the difference!

Well done @ImALittlePea on the Jeans! That's a great feeling!

ImALittlePea · 27/04/2022 10:39

Such a good feeling!

Well done on all of the WoWs today!

Re chocolate - I don't really have much of a sweet tooth, I can take or leave it. We have so much in the house at the moment after Easter but normally I'm not even tempted. So I don't tend to mind much when the hankering gets me ๐Ÿ˜…

SingaporeSlinky · 27/04/2022 10:49

So I weighed in today at 9st 2 3/4

I almost didnโ€™t believe it, so after the 2 weeks all-inclusive Iโ€™m basically the same as when I left, not even a pound gained. I did get in over 10,000 steps every day, just because itโ€™s a massive resort and Iโ€™m not really one for lying around sunbathing, so was walking around or in the pool most of the day. But, given I was eating 3 meals a day instead of 2, and having dessert every day, I am surprised. I didnโ€™t go mad, so I was eating consciously and not going back for seconds, and my DH said he noticed I was having healthier choices - so meat and veg instead of loads of chips or rice, for example, just one choice of dessert instead of trying lots, and at breakfast Iโ€™d have a hot chocolate, yoghurt and fruit instead of loads of croissants.
The hot chocolate had cinnamon in, which was delicious!

Anyway, thank you for welcoming me back. Iโ€™ve started a maintenance thread, because I want to carry on but might keep weighing in here too.

Crazzzycat · 27/04/2022 12:59

Thatโ€™s a great result @ImALittlePea ! Youโ€™ve reminded me that I need to order some size 10 trousers, as my size 12s are feeling very roomy.

For some reason Iโ€™m just not convinced that size 10 is going to fit. i know that makes no sense and itโ€™s clearly a bit of a weird mental block!

Anyway, Iโ€™ve ordered some size 10s now and will report back in a few daysโ€ฆ

murmuration · 27/04/2022 13:13

WOW:
SW 14 stone 4
CW 13 stone

So no change from last week. But I've had a bad start to the week - had food in the evening on Monday, and just KEPT eating. I know this happens, and yet still thought "oh, I could have just one piece of cheese". Only thing that stopped me, probably 1000+ calories later of tiny snacks, was my cat lying on me and purring such that I didn't want to disturb her. Good kitty.

Had some snacks yesterday evening, but not nearly so bad.

And now I've come down with covid. So far just tired and a bit coughy. I have a bunch of work deadlines I need to meet by Friday, so am going to try to get those done as it will really mess things up if I get worse and don't make them (people gave me pretty long extensions already because I was overloaded - some original deadlines were a good 6 weeks ago - I think I'm known for being good for actually doing what I say thus they were willing to give me extensions right down to the wire and I'd hate to let them down). Although also feeling bits of imposter syndrome - half of them are reports for a body I used to be part of and I'm thinking about all these people I know reading them, which for some reason is much harder than the ones I have do to for people I haven't yet met. What if they read them and think, "oh, how could Murmur say that? I really thought she knew her stuff in our meetings, guess I was wrong...".

Anyway, I've now got an hour to finish my first report so I should do that!

But just wanted to also shout out to @SunshineCake - you are strong and a good mother and sometimes no matter what you do you can't fix someone else, they have to do their part too - and if their brain isn't working right it can self-sabotage. You sound caring and as if you are doing the best you can, and that's all you can do.

Not the same thing, but my mother has schizophrenia and if she's in a bad way she thinks any treatment is an attempt to poison her or part of a conspiracy, etc., and it can be very difficult to get her help when she's convinced all help is the exact opposite - later when she's more sane she'll recognise her disordered thinking, but even memories of that recognition don't help when she's in the throes of it.

SunshineCake · 27/04/2022 21:00

May will be better @buzzofthebumblebee. Let's make a pact to get each other through next month and aim for a pound off. It is small but doable. I'm up and down at the moment and looking back at my weights all I can say is I am lighter than I was on March 21st Hmm. Between then and now the same two pounds have gone on and off.

Good luck @Flowers111. Something will kick in soon and you will get your loss.

You are quite right @Crazzzycat , we might not all be losing all the time but we are all still trying.

Maintaining is a win in my book @HouseofHolbein !

Black clothes often come up smaller so it is a bigger MSV @ImALittlePea .

Well done @ginsparkles . I have also been filling my plate with salad and it sometimes takes a lot of energy to eat so feels like I am eating slower so the I am full message arrives sooner which is better.

That is a great result @SingaporeSlinky . Well done!

Hurray for supportive kitty @murmuration ๐Ÿฑ

SunshineCake · 27/04/2022 21:14

So sorry @murmuration I got so distracted by your cat I missed the rest of your post. Many people have been telling me I can't make DD do anything she doesn't want to etc so it must be true. I'm just so used to being able to fix things for them and the one time she really needs help, I can't as she won't let me.

SanFranBear · 27/04/2022 22:47

Aw, Sunshine - the love you have for your DD shines through in every post. Keep hanging in there, hopefully she'll come round soon!

Some really good WoW's today - well done to all! For my WoW - Walk on Wednesday - visited a part of the Forest that I've never been to before. It promised deer and had a viewing platform and everything - and then didn't deliver, boo! I love deer, they're so bouncy and sweet looking. Ah well, the views were wonderful, the weather was perfect, saw some adorable donkeys - all scruffy and shaggy and beautiful - and it meant guilt-free nachos for dinner!

A little pic for you, RealHousewife ๐Ÿ˜Š

Apologies again @murmuration as I missed a whole paragraph. So sorry you have covid. Please please please take it easy. I did too much and ended up with long covid and wasn't great for nine months.

SunshineCake · 28/04/2022 07:00

Thank you @SanFranBear that is a lovely thing to say. I've been cross with her, in my head and not shown to her, because I can see what her actions are doing to dh who only slept two hours last night, so the fact you can tell I love her hugely is a relief.

I am worried about dh as he is sleeping worse than last week.
