Hard to believe itโ€™s April already ๐Ÿ˜ฎ. Fresh new month, fresh new start, fresh new habits. Jump right in to reset & refresh to become a healthier version of yourself.

As no one size fits all, members need to follow their own way of eating. This thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

We generally have WOW (Weigh On Wednesday) day each week. However post and share your progress as often or as little as you prefer. Do what works for you.

The important thing is not to think of it as a diet (based on deprivation and unsustainable) but more a way of life (sustainable & enjoyable).

I calorie count based on a lower carb Mediterranean diet. I intermittent fast and generally eat twice a day.

Are you in๐Ÿ˜Š What food plan will you be following? What do you want to change and why?

Oh @SunshineCake you are all going through the wringer ๐Ÿ’• Iโ€™m sure DD knows she is very loved ๐Ÿ’• and hopefully that will bring her back to you eventually ๐Ÿ’•

managed 13.5k steps yesterday so quite pleased with that ๐Ÿ˜Š aiming for 12k a day minimum in May as well as keeping a check on my eating!

SunshineCake · 28/04/2022 08:25

Thank you @HouseofHolbein Flowers.

8stone13 · 28/04/2022 08:49

Blimey I don't know where to post this morning - this thread, the May thread, @SingaporeSlinky's new maintenance thread...๐Ÿ˜€

I'll post here as I am still in a losing-ish phase, & my Autistic brain can't cope with the May thread until May!

Thurs 28th April - 9s 4lb
BMI 21.5
BF 24.0

Absolutely no change from yesterday, which is actually a loss as I ended up at my favourite restaurant again yesterday (trapped in town all day & it's the best & most economical place to eat) so I should have put on my usual 1lb water weight. I might have a loss to post tomorrow ๐Ÿคž๐Ÿป

Yesterday was my second day with zero chocolate, I really fancied some & it was readily accessible in town but I resisted & I feel so much better for it ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป

AnyoneElseFeelDone · 28/04/2022 08:55

Well done for resisting @8stone13

She must know you care @SunshineCake but it's a tricky situation when she doesn't want help and probably feels guilty deep down for the impact she's having on you all.

I really must sort some batteries for my scales so I can get on board properly in May.

We got our fuel bill yesterday ๐Ÿ˜ญ

Crazzzycat · 28/04/2022 09:10

Morning all! I had a good start to the day. I just finished an 8k row and am currently enjoying a bowl of Skyr yoghurt with mango & mixed seeds. Breakfast is a bit of a new thing for me after years of intermittent fasting, but now that Iโ€™ve moved my exercise to the morning I feel Iโ€™d better eat something!

I had some great news yesterday when I was told that a project Iโ€™ve been working on, which has caused me endless amounts of stress, is highly likely to be put on halt for a few months. I donโ€™t want to get too excited until Iโ€™ve had official confirmation, but I already feel like a huge weight has been lifted off my shoulders! So many calories have been consumed as a direct result of that bloody project ๐Ÿ˜ฃ

TheRealHousewife · 28/04/2022 10:11

@8stone13 Lose It! Threads allow maintenance too but no worries if you want to hop onto @SingaporeSlinky thread ๐Ÿ‘

I'm also going to hang here until May, if that's OK.. I'll have my weigh in day tomorrow (not sure what that will look like as I finished off off bag of sweets last night which likely negated the benefits of my walk!) and can then jump know again for the 1st to give me a good idea of where I am and want to go for next month on the shiny new thread.

Your DD must know how much you and your DH love her, Sunshine - that's why she's able to push, push, push... she knows that you'll always be her biggest supporter. It's so hard though and I really related to when you said about how easy it used to be to fix a grazed knee or bumped head compared to these deep, inner wounds.

Great news about your project, Crazzzycat - anything that takes a bit of pressure off is worth celebrating. By the way, do you actually have a crazy cat? I adore all things cat so feel free to post a pic ๐Ÿ˜†

Talking of pressure, agree that fuel costs are a real worry. I was lucky enough to fix my costs last year but we have to move soon and I'm worried my deal won't be honoured in the new place and as well as all the normal moving costs, I'm going to see a hefty hike on my energy bills. I could really go a lottery win about now!

Crazzzycat · 28/04/2022 11:08

I used to have a crazy cat @SanFranBear , but heโ€™s now in kitty heaven. He was already old when we adopted him, but he managed to squeeze so much love and craziness into the few years he was with us, that there will always be a kitty shaped hole in my heart ๐Ÿ˜ฟ

Sorry I know thatโ€™s not the cute cat picture you were hoping for! I always think of it as a happy story though, not a sad one. He spent his final years surrounded by people who adored him and clearly loving every minute of it ๐Ÿ˜

buzzofthebumblebee · 28/04/2022 11:29

love your Walk on Wednesday picture @SanFranBear - stunning. There is pleasure to be seen everywhere in the world. Just need to stop and look properly for it.

Thanks for the nudge @TheRealHousewife - May will be better ; ) And yes @SunshineCake1 , we'll be on it together.

And totally agree with everyone SunshineCake that you really are the most amazing Mum and your love for your DD shines through in every post. Hope your DH is OK too.

Well done everyone else. I dragged myself to pilates and feel rejuvenated. Not sure it achieves much for calorie burn, but my body shape is so different, and the stretching is amazing. And it's ME TIME.

SanFranBear · 28/04/2022 12:16

Aw, Crazzzycat - I'm sorry for your loss. They're never 'just a cat' and it is wonderful just how much fun and joy he had in his final years. We also had an old boy who left through the cat flap last January and never came home. It broke us all a little but that's why we now have two, mad little kittens who have definitely helped heal our cat-sized hole. So just because, here he is:

Hereโ€™s a picture of mine @SanFranBear. Why walk when you can just ask a human to carry you around the garden?! ๐Ÿ˜‚

Iโ€™m sorry you lost your boy too. Itโ€™s so sad when they have to leave us.

SanFranBear · 28/04/2022 17:27

Aw, thanks Crazzzycat - and he's so flooofy โค

And in case anyone else is having problems, the MFP recipe issue is being worked on although doesn't have an ETA unfortunately: support.myfitnesspal.com/hc/en-us/articles/5716717249933

But at least it's not just me! Right, off to cook some salmon - DC will have their with pasta, I expect I'll be having salad... again ๐Ÿ˜„

AnyoneElseFeelDone · 28/04/2022 19:31

Well I managed to stop eating at the end of my 8 hour window ๐Ÿค Zip till tomorrow. Teeth flossed and brushed ๐Ÿ˜‡

Lovely cat pictures. I loved pets as a child +cats and dogs) but I'm afraid now I detest the neighbours' cats who flatten plants, poo in my raised bed, fight in the early hours or meow to be let in and that's before we start on the badly trained dogs.

Pilates is such a beneficial thing to do @buzzofthebumblebee

Thanks for starting a new thread @TheRealHousewife will head over there with some stats over the weekend.

SunshineCake · 28/04/2022 19:48

Can't think straight. Had dental treatment today and I look like a chipmunk, feel really tired and bleurgh. An hour and a half in the chair is a long time. Roll on bed time.

SanFranBear · 29/04/2022 07:29

OMG... I made it, I made it to my pre-pandemic weight! I've not quite hit my April goal as I extended that slightly but my key one was getting to where I was in March 2020 and I've actually lost a little bit more - whoop!

SW: 104.7kg
CW: 95.4kg
April GW: 95kg

That means a kilo (2lb) down so, as of this morning, I've lost 3 stone since the start of the year! I am over the moon as, whilst I still need to shift an awful lot, this feels like such a milestone for me. I don't think I'll rid myself of that remaining 0.4kg to hit my April goal, but I don't care ๐Ÿ˜„

Must try not to sabotage, celebrating tonight although hoping to get in a decent hike this afternoon. And then I guess I best hop over to the new thread - debating whether to weigh on the 1st ๐Ÿค”

Hope you're feeling better this morning, Sunshine - I hate getting dental treatment but healthy teeth and gums are so important for overall health that I suck it up... but I hate it!

SanFranBear · 29/04/2022 07:30

Argh... that should be 85.4kg, not 95! Too excited and fat fingers not a good combination!

milkfromthesleepycow · 29/04/2022 08:08

That's amazing, well done @SanFranBear

8stone13 · 29/04/2022 08:41

Aww, lovely cats everyone - & that's from someone who doesn't really 'get' cats ๐Ÿซข๐Ÿ˜€ Dogs are another matter though, IMHO they make everything in the world better ๐Ÿพ But pets, in whatever form, just bring so much joy don't they ๐Ÿ˜Š

Wow @SanFranBear that is fantastic, major well done to you ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป

Fri 29th April - 9s 3 & 3/4lb
BMI 21.5
BF 24.1

I was still 9s 4lb when I got on the scales first thing so an hour later when the kids had gone - having not even had a glass of water - I hopped back on to register 9s 3 & 3/4lb! I'm telling myself it's not cheating as I could just as easily have missed the first weigh in & done it when the kids had left...

ImALittlePea · 29/04/2022 08:55

That's so good @SanFranBear well done!

Definitely not cheating @8stone13

Hopped on this morning and lost 0.5lb, not bad considering I was away last weekend and haven't been 100% this week either. For the month I'm 1lb down overall. I'd hoped for two but I'm gonna take it! I've not really been on plan but have obviously done just enough over the course of the month.

Now to move forwards! See you all on the May thread ๐Ÿฅณ

TheRealHousewife · 29/04/2022 09:35

Good Morning Everyone

I often plan a weeks worth of menus/meals at a time. For May Iโ€™m going to attempt doing a full month. I like to cook multiple portions at a time and freeze some for the following weeks. I donโ€™t have much waste but feel planning ahead will help reduce waste further as well as take the pressure off deciding what to shop & prepare for. Time to get the cook book out ๐Ÿ˜ฌ

@ImALittlePea nice little loss ๐Ÿ‘

@8stone13 Nice stats as per ๐Ÿ‘I second pets, especially dogs ๐Ÿถ bring so much joy!!! Iโ€™m loving all the pet pictures โ€ฆ more please ๐Ÿ˜ฌ๐Ÿ˜

@SanFranBear Fantastic! Well done ๐Ÿ‘โญ๏ธ

@AnyoneElseFeelDone Brushing teeth and cleaning and closing kitchen are good deterrents!

@SunshineCake Hope your swelling as subsided !

Menu
Meal 1 - Spicy Cauli rice & sweet potato stir fry.
Meal 2 - Chicken Curry & small portion basmati rice.

Tea, coffee, water.

Enjoy your day!

SunshineCake · 29/04/2022 09:47

I hate to say it @AnyoneElseFeelDone but I don't think she does feel guilty about how we have been and are feeling. It is partly why I do think she has autism even though she says not.

I hope you are right @SanFranBear but the reality is I don't think she cares whether we love her or not. She just doesn't seem to be wired the same way as her brothers. WELL DONE on your getting to pre pandemic weight ๐ŸŒŸ

Thank you @buzzofthebumblebee . I decided I was a good mum as I didn't abandon my child for a man like my mother did. DH is tired but he slept last night better. Well done on the Pilates. I used to do it, and yoga, when younger.

I look even worse this morning. Bruised and swollen. DH is making me porridge and has said I have to stay in bed.

SunshineCake · 29/04/2022 09:48

Sadly not @TheRealHousewife it's more so!

Crazzzycat · 29/04/2022 10:26

Thatโ€™s a great result @SanFranBear ! Congratulations and enjoy your celebratory walk ๐Ÿ˜€

I had a bit of a minor victory yesterday when DH took me to M&S to buy some โ€œnice foodโ€. For him that meant pizza, chocolate, crisps and coffee. For me it was a selection of berries, carrot sticks, hummus and olives. I didnโ€™t feel deprived at all. I actually walked out of the shop looking at DHโ€™s haul, thinking how glad I was that I didnโ€™t have to deal with any of that, or the digestive discomfort that would no doubt follow it!

HouseofHolbein · 29/04/2022 10:31

Just popped on to add a photo of the idiot sisters who have wrecked my house bless them! Gomez Morticia and Wednesday ๐Ÿ’•

@SunshineCake , there are a lot of myths about autistic people. The lack of empathy thing is probably the number 1 misconception, which I see it being repeated over and over on MN. Iโ€™m not surprised that people start to think itโ€™s true, but it really isnโ€™t. Many autistic people are highly empathetic. The difference is in how they show it.

I hope you donโ€™t feel Iโ€™m telling you off. Iโ€™m a parent to two autistic boys who were diagnosed in their teens, so I know how steep the learning curve is. I found it really helpful to read and watch some of the content that is being created by people who are actually autistic as it helped me better understand the problems they were dealing with and how I could support them.

This guy is good, but there are lots of others like him:
