Hard to believe itโ€™s April already ๐Ÿ˜ฎ. Fresh new month, fresh new start, fresh new habits. Jump right in to reset & refresh to become a healthier version of yourself.

As no one size fits all, members need to follow their own way of eating. This thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

We generally have WOW (Weigh On Wednesday) day each week. However post and share your progress as often or as little as you prefer. Do what works for you.

The important thing is not to think of it as a diet (based on deprivation and unsustainable) but more a way of life (sustainable & enjoyable).

I calorie count based on a lower carb Mediterranean diet. I intermittent fast and generally eat twice a day.

Are you in๐Ÿ˜Š What food plan will you be following? What do you want to change and why?

Ooh - busy thread this morning. You all sound so 'on it' at the moment - well done everyone, especially those who are being active and mindful!

I must admit am struggling to keep within my daily limit at the moment - no idea why as have had no problem for months but the last few days, I've been close if not slightly over every day. Ah well, back to the ole routine tomorrow which will hopefully help (I feel the pain re Maths homework, 8stone13 - not DD's, or my, strong suit and I get constant text reminders from the school about it!)

Aw - new babies are so special, SnackPack... welcome to you and nowt wrong with leggings/stretchy trousers. Your little one is still a very little one so do take care!

AnyoneElseFeelDone · 24/04/2022 18:24

Thanks @SunshineCake how are things?

@8stone13 homework drama is enough to drive anyone to drink or chocolate ๐Ÿ˜‚

SunshineCake · 24/04/2022 21:29

I'm really struggling @AnyoneElseFeelDone tbh. Not doing well in any aspect of my life plus feel quite sick atm. I'm so tired and feel very low. It's rubbish.

AnyoneElseFeelDone · 24/04/2022 21:51

Sending you a hug ๐Ÿค—

SanFranBear · 24/04/2022 22:49

Aw, another virtual hug from me, Sunshine - I'm hoping these dark days will start to pass for you soon!

Does anyone know if there is a limit to the number of recipes you can create and then save on MFP? I've only got 25 on there but I can't seem to add any more? Do I have to delete as I'm not going to upgrade? And if so, what a pile of poo ๐Ÿ˜ก

fallfallfall · 24/04/2022 23:28

hugs @SunshineCake , i'm alive and eating too much :(.
i did have an iridotomy and that seems to have gone well. but promised myself no exercise for 4 days. which will turn into 10 as we head to alberta to see our youngest (hotel for 2 nights eating out and 16+ hours of driving).

SunshineCake · 25/04/2022 06:59

@Foreverlexicon @buzzofthebumblebee I can not get into my PMs still.

I get the consent page after every action I do on here. I reject all each time. What is everyone else getting and doing?

SunshineCake · 25/04/2022 07:09

Thank you for the hugs.

DH hasn't slept at all and he has had to get up to take DS2 to school as my car isn't okay to drive and I am not insured to drive is. I did sleep as I had a nightmare but woke at least three times. I have a headache and just feel achey all over as well as exhausted. Today we are going to try and talk to DD but given she has got snappy with me every time I have said anything she doesn't like I don't expect it will go well. My plan is to try and let DH do all the talking.

oh, and my weight is up even though I am running and walking most days and not eating much.

ginsparkles · 25/04/2022 07:12

Sending love @SunshineCake ... I hope the talk today goes as well as it can.

Not much to add from me, still the same stupid situation and no one to blame but me. My colleague at work and I have made a pact to do this together starting today, so hopefully that will help!

Plan for today
Cheese and pickle sandwich with chickpea crisps at lunch
Scampi salad for tea
Taking only good snacks - orange and yoghurts today.

HouseofHolbein · 25/04/2022 08:15

Love to you @SunshineCake ๐Ÿ’• I remember that feeling of dread when I needed to have a conversation with my eldest. Itโ€™s awful.

Iโ€™m about to brave the scales after my fairly indulgent weekend ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚ working today 9:30-5 then running club at 6 so I might have a canteen lunch to see me through ๐Ÿ˜Š

hope this week goes as well as it can for everyone here ๐Ÿ’•

Foreverlexicon · 25/04/2022 08:18

Dont worry @SunshineCake, I was just checking in. It just seems to work for me but has changed to an instant messenger type now. I wish I was surprised in relation to the quality of the treatment your DD had received but sadly Iโ€™m not ๐Ÿ˜” How is she doing now?

i have been entirely awol and eaten absolutely tonnes of rubbish and drowned in chocolate over Easter to the point where I have a toothache (I get this when Iโ€™ve eaten far too much sugar for a long period of time).

Been struggling a bit with back to work full time, FIL staying for a week etc etc. But back to it now but Iโ€™m avoiding the scales.

SunshineCake · 25/04/2022 08:27

I'm still in bed. I just can't get up. Feel tearful. Even thinking about running isn't making me happy. I feel such a failure at the moment as not eating properly, not cooking for the family properly each day, just some meals, just failing at everything.

DD went out to see friends yesterday. Rest of time in her room, we hardly see her. Her sleep pattern changes constantly so we never know when or if we will see her.

No idea if we will hear from the mental health team this week but I am hoping my GP is back and will read my letter and ring us.

TheRealHousewife · 25/04/2022 09:01

Good Morning Everyone

The last week of LOSE IT! April. Would be nice to lose a bit but clothes and scales indicating I will have maintained overall. Iโ€™m ok with that, just as long as there isnโ€™t any gain!

@SanFranBear I think we all go through that. My theory is itโ€™s our bodies/brains panicking and wanted to avoid famine. Sometimes the need to eat is stronger than our desire to lose ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™€๏ธ Frustrating. Iโ€™ve not counted up my recipes on MFP but Iโ€™m sure itโ€™s more than 25. Iโ€™ll check later for you.

@SunshineCake You are not a failure and youโ€™re succeeding in so much. Youโ€™re supporting your family, your children, your DH! You are still our shining star in spite of the terrible circumstances youโ€™re currently in โญ๏ธ Sending a hug โค๏ธ

Hi @fallfallfall enjoy your trip! Seeing family is so good for the soul.

@ginsparkles Itโ€™s good youโ€™ve got an healthy eating buddy at work. Extra ๐Ÿ‘€ ๐ŸŽ‚ helps with staying on track ๐Ÿ˜ฌ

@HouseofHolbein Enjoy your day, hope it isnโ€™t too taxing!

@Foreverlexicon You could treat this week as a reset ready for the new May LOSE IT! Thread ๐Ÿ˜Š

Lets have a great final week and kick some lbs to the curb ๐Ÿ˜ฌ

@SunshineCake I know a cafe in Whitby where the waitresses always say there are no calories in their luxury hot chocolate that day when they hand it over to you โ˜•๏ธ ๐Ÿ˜€

@AnyoneElseFeelDone Iโ€™m tee total so chocolate will have to be used twice ๐Ÿ˜‰

@TheRealHousewife @buzzofthebumblebee

Thanks ๐Ÿ™‚

Lovely to read such nice comments towards me, thank you one & all ๐Ÿ˜Š

Been doing quite a bit of thinking. I was always super slim until my thirties. Skinny as a child, thin through my teens & twenties. I put weight on after my doctorate & after both kids but lost it each time (around 2 stone each time.) But things definitely shifted each time & I couldn't get back to where I'd been previously. For instance, in my twenties I was 8 stone & any less I looked gaunt, managed to get down to 8.5 stone after baby 1 & looked the same (& any more lost & I would have looked gaunt.) After baby 2 I got down to 9 stone (well, 8s 13lb ๐Ÿ˜€) but if I lost any more than that I looked as gaunt as I had when below 8s in my twenties & below 8.5s in my thirties IYSWIM. When my gf & I met almost 4 years ago I was 8s 7lb due to stress & she told me later she wondered if I had an eating disorder ๐Ÿ˜ฌ I did look very gaunt then, even I could see it.

So I'm coming round to think that 10 years after baby 2 where I am now might be the new normal. I look no different at 9s 4-5lb now than I did at 9s 2-3lb before the weather warmed up. So this might be it. And I might have to accept that. I keep saying this but I need to focus on better diet & more regular exercise. I eat well - lots of home cooked food, very little processed food & no 'cheap' food at all, but I do have a ludicrously sweet tooth & can fall victim to grabbing food on the hop when busy, so I never quite feel replete, even if what I am eating is all good. I'm still not sure how to balance out the moving if my body - it came be good doing under 1000 steps for three days in succession then 25,000 steps two days running then back to under 1000...my best friend actually started to suffer mobility issues when her life went like this. I need to be mindful that I'm not 25 anymore but 20+ years past that!

Anyway, those are enough musings for this time on a Monday ๐Ÿ˜€ There's nothing new there anyway, I just need to remember my key issues & try to address them.

Hope everyone has an ace week ๐Ÿ™‚

IGaveYouMySnackPack · 25/04/2022 09:35

Morning all.

So it's the start for me! Food shop delivery will be here between 10 and 11.

Just weighed myself - 12st 4.8lbs. Would be nice to see that at 12st or under this time next week! Very cloudy here but not due to rain so will get out for a long walk with baby later!

BeeYellowMumma · 25/04/2022 09:37

Found this by chance this morning, better late than never! Need to shift 7-11kg of lockdown weight. In a really stressful job with little let down, and struggle to get to any classes etc on a regular basis due to childcare/work commitments.

Also fueled by high anxiety and being very self conscious that I literally won't go for a run on my own.

Any help or tips would be great ๐Ÿ˜Š

murmuration · 25/04/2022 09:43

Didn't do the best over the weekend - DH got covid, and I'm just feeling run ragged trying to still tidy up the house from our trip last week. At least I haven't caught it, nor DD.

Hope to do better today and rest of the week.

TheRealHousewife · 25/04/2022 11:45

A warm welcome to the thread @BeeYellowMumma I think life in general is extra tough for working mums. Iโ€™d start planning. Decide how you want to do it and work towards that. Do you have a plan in mind? Are you calorie counting?

Youโ€™re welcome @8stone13 ๐Ÿ˜Š

@IGaveYouMySnackPack Enjoy your long walk and good luck with your goal. ๐Ÿ‘

Sorry to read that @murmuration ? Hereโ€™s to a speedy recovery. Fingers crossed you or your daughter donโ€™t succumb. My OH has been feeling rough so took a test last night which we thought was negative. He left it on the counter and this morning itโ€™s reading positive. Did another test today which is negative. ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™€๏ธ.

Welcome to the thread @BeeYellowMumma. Weightloss is mostly down to what you eat, so I wouldnโ€™t worry too much about intensive exercise if you donโ€™t have time. Iโ€™d prioritise eating as well as you can (fruit, vegetables, whole grains etc), and add in some gentle movement if you can fit it in, like going for a short walk at lunchtime. If youโ€™re dealing with a lot of stress, the last thing you want to do is set the bar too high. Youโ€™re much more likely to succeed if you keep things realistic and achievable.

@8stone13 1000 steps a day does seem pretty low. I wouldnโ€™t worry too much about the fact that you are doing a hell of a lot more on other days. I think the fact that you are able to do 20k steps + is a really positive sign, but Iโ€™d definitely recommend trying to up the movement a bit on the days where you are less active. Have I mentioned lunch time walks yet...?

Iโ€™m about to head off for my daily walk. I like to walk without headphones and listen to the birds singing and look at all the flowers that are popping up in the hedgerows. Clearly my walks arenโ€™t the most energetic, but they are so good for the soul โ˜บ๏ธ (Also, Iโ€™ve already completed a 1 hour long row this morning, so I consider the cardio-box ticked for the day)

AnyoneElseFeelDone · 25/04/2022 13:17

Same @8stone13 apart from the odd Bailey's at Christmas. A waste of calories ๐Ÿ˜œ

Wishing you the best sunshine

Good luck with the last week of April ladies. My plan for this week is just getting back to 16:8, was hungry this morning but did it.

SunshineCake · 25/04/2022 13:37

Thank you @TheRealHousewife . I needed that reminder and support. I did get up and went for a run. I did 5km in then walked to the shop and that was another 5.79km almost an hour and half of walking.

Good luck with your first week aim @IGaveYouMySnackPack and I hope you had a nice walk with BabySnack.

Welcome @BeeYellowMumma. I am also pretty anxious at the moment and use a roll on from Tisserand which smells nice. Once the cat gets off my lap I will go and get it to tell you if you are interested. I also started running in May 2020 but using the Couch25km app and I felt very self conscious too. I soon realised that no one is looking at me anyway and I was doing something really good for me and that was more important than what strangers might think. I got good trainers and some nice running gear from M & S and haven't looked back.

Sorry to hear your usband is I'll @murmuration I hope he doesn't suffer too much and you and the dc don't get it.

Thank you @AnyoneElseFeelDone and well done on your fast success.

Had a chat with DD. Went better than expected but only in that she didn't storm off. Not happy with all her plans but there isn't anything we can do about it.

ImALittlePea · 25/04/2022 17:25

Glad the chat was a relative success @SunshineCake I can't imagine the turmoil you're all going through. Keep going โค๏ธ

Sorry I've lost track of the various posts so just a big generic wave to everyone ๐Ÿ‘‹ welcome to all the newbies, and good luck with your respective plans.

As expected, weekend away was indulgent (although there was also a lot of walking involved). I did have the leftovers of a big bag of crisps this lunchtime (couldn't waste them, could I?!) And we had to have a freezer tea tonight because I haven't been shopping, but overall calories are under my upper limit. Planning to (try and) hop straight back into full diet mode as of tomorrow. I'd seriously love to see a loss this week but not expecting one at all.

HouseofHolbein · 25/04/2022 17:35

Weighed in this morning at 9st 10.5lb so back up again. No worries itโ€™ll come off ๐Ÿ˜Š

on 11k steps so far and about to go for a run ๐Ÿ˜Š Iโ€™ll sleep well tonight ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚

glad you were able to have a conversation with DD @SunshineCake even if it didnโ€™t go as you hoped. At least you are communicating ๐Ÿ’• lots of love as always.

welcome new people! Lovely to see you all ๐Ÿ˜ƒ best get changed or Iโ€™ll be running in my steel toe capped boots ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿคฃ

SunshineCake · 25/04/2022 18:28

Thank you @ImALittlePea and @HouseofHolbein she has booked to go away and all I can think about is where she is going is 100s of miles away and we wouldn't be able to get to her easily if anything happened.

pennysays · 25/04/2022 19:36

Still here. Eating has been a bit out of control - think an entire soften loaf in a day. It hasnโ€™t affected the scales dramatically yet so starting to reign it in. Weighing myself is a good place to start.

im just eating my feelings because things feel quite stressful at the moment. Waiting on my period after which things will feel better.
