Hard to believe itโ€™s April already ๐Ÿ˜ฎ. Fresh new month, fresh new start, fresh new habits. Jump right in to reset & refresh to become a healthier version of yourself.

As no one size fits all, members need to follow their own way of eating. This thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

We generally have WOW (Weigh On Wednesday) day each week. However post and share your progress as often or as little as you prefer. Do what works for you.

The important thing is not to think of it as a diet (based on deprivation and unsustainable) but more a way of life (sustainable & enjoyable).

I calorie count based on a lower carb Mediterranean diet. I intermittent fast and generally eat twice a day.

Are you in๐Ÿ˜Š What food plan will you be following? What do you want to change and why?

๐Ÿ’” @SunshineCake1 I really hope she gets in touch of her own volition soon

SingaporeSlinky · 01/04/2022 12:26

Just posting some stats since itโ€™s the 1st of the month.

Marchโ€™s achievements -
9lbs lost
Body fat down from 25% to 23.8% today
BMI now 22

Goals for April -
Get an 8 in front of my weight, even for a day ๐Ÿ˜‚ 9st 2.5 today
Row 3000m 3 times a week
Try not to come back from our all-inclusive holiday half a stone up
Figure out how to maintain the loss without doing 10 hours a week at the gym

I had another spin class this morning, had intended to do another row as well, but I donโ€™t think I ate (or drank) enough yesterday and had some shoulder pain so didnโ€™t want to push it, and went home.

Lunch today was baked apple skyr yoghurt, raspberries, strawberries, granola, chia and flax seeds (368 cals). Dinner will be more calorific, pie and mash. And Iโ€™ll probably treat myself to a few biscuits this afternoon.

ginsparkles · 01/04/2022 12:55

Well done to all those with losses from March. You guys will be my inspiration!!

Sending much love to @SunshineCake1 Thanks

SunshineCake1 · 01/04/2022 13:37

Sorry to not do my usual personal messages that I like to do. Please don't think I am rude or selfish when I say my heart isn't in it.

My April goal personally is to keep supporting DH, DS1 and DS2 as we all try and get our heads around our daughter and sister leaving and cutting off all contact. She has been gone over a week and we haven't had any reply at all. I am currently washing all her clothes and tidying her university stuff and not coping when I see her bedroom door whether it is open or closed.

I went out shopping with DH and DS1 this morning as we needed a new house phone. It kept going wrong these last couple of days and it was rubbish timing when I was trying to talk to the police. I also bought our son some new clothes as he didn't want an Easter egg.

DH and I are really struggling with eating and I went 24 hours without any food at all and only ate dinner yesterday as we were eating with the children and I don't want them worrying. Dh and I have agreed we are only eating so the other one does. I'm having veg soup I made a few days ago at the moment.

I am using the treadmill every day and went on it twice on Wednesday. First thing, school run, treadmill again then walked the dog.

Today I have to write and tell at least two friends who live a long way away and also tell my friend who lives next door and has been away.

I'm just so sad. Tired as I can't sleep and just don't know what to do.

:) i held strong last night and prepped my breakfast that evening.
pleased to say my tweak on my morning oats is perfect. a combo of whole milk and unsweetened almond milk, oats and chia seeds. makes two servings so i'm set for tomorrow morning as well.
with a heaping tablespoon of my fruit stew (rhubarb apple red currant and raspberry...maybe some plums?? dh combo this week) i think it was a healthy start at 232 calories.
@TheRealHousewife, the burger was fine and will be eating the same meal again tonight.
@SunshineCake1stay strong and ongoing positive thoughts coming your way Brew.
@ginsparkles, it is nice to see how everyone pokes along and stays the course even if it's only in spirit as we all know life can be hard. and that's when i crack open a bag of chips (bbq family size :( )

SunshineCake1 · 01/04/2022 22:17

Thank you @fallfallfall. Not feeling strong at all when I'm on my own. Doing everything I can for dh and giving him lots of hugs and reassurance. I still can't believe it though. I wrote to two friends today to tell them so if they get the letters in the morning one will ring and the other will text for sure. That will make it all much more real.

BellyDancer124 · 02/04/2022 07:59

@SunshineCake1 sending you much love and strength. Sorry I havenโ€™t been around as much but work has been manic and Iโ€™ve been so very very tired. Please feel free to WhatsApp me if you want to offload tho ๐Ÿ’•

Anywayโ€ฆ ended March about 2lb down. Iโ€™ve lost just over 11lb since the start of January. Weight is still up and down but on the whole itโ€™s heading down ๐Ÿ˜Š

Got 3 days off in a row nowโ€ฆ was planning on going to parkrun but felt really rough last night so Iโ€™m not going. I have an afternoon aromatherapy class to go to and am meeting a friend for brunch before so donโ€™t want to overdo it! Planning a 10k run with friends tomorrow morning.

LFT in a minute tho just to be sure everything is okโ€ฆ work colleague tested positive on Monday after Iโ€™d been speaking to her ๐Ÿคฆโ€โ™€๏ธ Donโ€™t want to endanger anyone if I can help it.

Have a good weekend everyone ๐Ÿ’•

Youdoyoutoday · 02/04/2022 08:38

1.5lbs off this morning!!

Hopefully will maintain that by getting out for a good long walk today. Feeling a bit cooped up as I've not been that well this week so haven't been to bootcamp or swimming and I miss it.

Happy Saturday ๐ŸŒž

ginsparkles · 02/04/2022 09:12

Well done @Youdoyoutoday ! ๏ฟผ

Thinking of you @SunshineCake1 , I read back last night and caught up on the situation with DD. There are no words I can offer to help, but I do offer loads of love and a listening "ear" any time you might need it.

For me, covid has left me with inflamed rub muscles so exercise is out, doctor says light exercise only, so I went for ride yesterday. Today I have just exhausted myself by sweeping my floors !

So focussing on what I can change, snacking is stopping, and meals are better.
Today lunch is as yet unknown as we are off into town, but I'll choose a salad of some kind. And dinner is lasagne.

I hope everyone has a nice Saturday

Crazzzycat · 02/04/2022 09:33

Morning all! I had a good day yesterday. Stuck to plan, did lots of exercise etc. Iโ€™m aiming to repeat that today!

I came across this article yesterday. Not a great read for any of us who use exercise as an excuse to eat more , but may be reassuring for anyone who feels they canโ€™t do as much exercise as theyโ€™d like to, for whatever reason:

www.vox.com/2016/4/28/11518804/weight-loss-exercise-myth-burn-calories

Enjoy your day pottering @TheRealHousewife. Send over some of that lovely weather please. Itโ€™s so miserable here โ˜น๏ธ

Thatโ€™s a good loss @Youdoyoutoday. What a great start to the month!
Nice steady weightloss there @HouseofHolbein. Aromatherapy class sounds like an interesting way to spend an afternoon!

Sorry to hear youโ€™re still feeling rough @ginsparkles. Inflamed rib muscles sounds very painful. Fingers crossed it settles down soon ๐Ÿคž

CloudySunshine · 02/04/2022 10:01

Good morning!

It's so good to have a place to check in on this thread - thank you everyone for the links and advice.

I'll be doing my NEAT @TheRealHousewife by more house painting today. I'd like to think that surely burns off some calories somewhere!

And on positive news I've lost 6.5 pounds over the last two weeks so feeling quite proud of myself.
SW 13.12.5
CW 13.6.2

Personal training went well, and he's asked me to send photos of everything I eat ๐Ÿ˜ณ I did eat a hot cross bun yesterday - my fault for not planning time for dinner before heading out for child activity. I find eating less I really have to be on time with meals or it all goes a bit awry!

And the first day I mentioned had turned into a fourth one this evening ๐Ÿฅฐ

@SunshineCake1 I'm thinking of you this morning. I don't have any useful advice but a reminder to keep trying to eat and look after yourself as best as you possibly can. I'm sure we all hope for a day with better news for you xx

buzzofthebumblebee · 02/04/2022 13:26

There's some great losses - well done everyone - as it's not easy!. Very inspiring.

Good article thanks Crazzy. All sensible. I should have read it before I went out on a 10 km run !!!! Wink

Wave to everyone, and continued wishes to Sunshine & family. Hope this weekend brings some good food choices.

I'm out tonight at a posh do and will enjoy getting dressed-up. Spanx still needed under my dress - but more to achieve smooth lines than to suck everything in as used to be the case. I'm technically a 12, but dress is a size 14 (12 was just too clingy) but it's from Asos and made for young slim people, so I'm very proud to be rocking it and feeling great as a 50-yr old! And I shall be saying yes to all the drinks and food offered, and make the most of it. (but as it's a posh do I'm guessing portions will be small - quality over quantity - which is not necessarily a bad thing?!).

CumbrianExile · 02/04/2022 14:07

Afternoon everyone. Happy April. Wish the weather was representing the season, freezing here!

I don't post much but I do follow the thread and you all provide inspiration so thank you.

I ended March just over 9lbs down. Delighted with that.
SW: 14.12.8
CW: 14.3.6

Setting myself a April goal of 7lb but am away next weekend and it's Easter after that so we will see ๐Ÿ˜‚

Enjoy your posh do @buzzofthebumblebee especially all the drinks and food!

8stone13 · 02/04/2022 14:58

Hello all & happy April ๐Ÿ™‚ ๏ฟผ

I went away to London on Fri 25th March expecting to be back after a few days but for various reasons I didn't get back until late yesterday & now have a zillion things to do ๐Ÿ˜ฌ I'll try & catch up on the new thread (thanks @TheRealHousewife ) & take a look at the old one, I bet I've missed loads!

My amazing news is as follows:

Day 91 - Sat 2nd April - 9s 3lb
BMI 21.3
BF 23.6

Despite pigging out like something deranged & have arrived back at exactly the same stats as the day I left! Everything is identical down to the decimal point ๐Ÿ˜€

I ate loads of Italian food, Indian food (so much of the latter that one night I felt ill ๐Ÿ˜ฌ), half of Chinatown (twice) It was incredible! I braced myself for 9s 7-9lb on the scales & nearly fell off them this morning when I saw 9s 3lb. I honestly think the only reason I survived was that I walked tens of thousands of steps daily. I must have burnt it all off. It was also freezing ๐Ÿฅถ I arrived home hungry ๐Ÿ˜ฎ

I'd like to shed a bit more this month as I picked up some nice spring/summer clothes in London, plus I have a wedding in June & one in July. I also need to really cut down on the amount of chocolate that I eat at home. I didn't have the same access to it whilst away & didn't miss it, which made me realise it's habitual & mainly mindless scoffing whilst I'm wfh. So that's a goal.

Anyway, I hope everyone is well ๐Ÿ™‚ Am waving to new & old faces ๐Ÿ‘‹๐Ÿป Wherever you are in the journey, good luck - we can do it ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป

SanFranBear · 02/04/2022 15:04

That's an interesting article, Crazzzycat.. I think most of us know its all about the food - I certainly do - but it was nice to see they were positive about exercise, just not as a weight loss tool. That last graph was interesting (how those combining calorie restriction lost more than those combining calories restriction and exercise) and not what I expected although the two groups did end up in a similar place. For me, the exercise puts me in a happy place but it is really interesting to see how our bodies adapt so if you're not able to move as much, it won't impact your health too much - provided you eat well.

Ive been out for a walk this morning and tried to go tent shopping but the one I wanted was sold out (and not a cheap one either so was gutted!) Will have to try again as keen to get out over Easter and my one broke in gales last year.

Was sad last night too as treated myself to Fish & Chips from the new chip shop which has opened about 5 minutes away. It was horrid - everything so overcooked and hard, even the chips. Threw most of it away... its so handy where it is, but just not worth it. Ah well - having homemade pizza tonight so that'll make up for it Grin

Graphista · 02/04/2022 16:30

@TheRealHousewife thanks for keeping us all going and for the new thread

Right - I need to get back on track as I'm busting out of my clothes!

I've no excuses now as I'm all set in new home new pans the lot, Tesco delivered earlier and I've lots of lovely fresh food in, kitchen scales have been found/unpacked.

I need to look at my old food diaries to remind myself how I did things.

I do need to dig out the bathroom scales and weigh myself - which I am dreading! But it needs to be done!

I'm really fed up I've undone all the loss I managed BUT I know I can do it and need to focus on that!

I'm not sure whether to be super strict and go on the cals I was having before I piled it all back on or whether to check bmi and cals on nhs site as I did before and go a middling route - what do you guys think? I find cal counting the way that works for me.

@SunshineCake1 so sorry for all that is going on with your dd? Sending hugs and safe wishes for her Thanks

HouseofHolbein · 02/04/2022 18:15

@Graphista! Lovely to see you back! I think Iโ€™d go the middling route myself and see how you get on ๐Ÿ˜Š congratulations on the new house ๐Ÿ‘

fallfallfall · 02/04/2022 21:22

@Graphista, i'm avoiding the scales and jumped back on the fast 800 program that i did online last year (can't remember when :( ) so right onto 800.
my attempts from january at 1200 were probably closer to 1500 and i was totally maintaining despite being active.
i'm only days in (although it must be close to a week).
congrats on the new house and new houseware!!

secretspooner · 02/04/2022 22:46

Hey, can I join please? I am 5 foot 3, 15 stone (last time I weighed which was a while ago so probably nearer 16 stone). I have PCOS and am type 2 diabetic. Really struggling with my eating as I am a binge eater but something has to change.

fallfallfall · 02/04/2022 23:45

feel free to join in @secretspooner

how to you plan on approaching this?
