But I've decided to give it a go

The food is the sort of stuff I like to eat although I'll have to make some substitutes as I'm a vegetarian. But I love Bircher, porridge, all her snacks and salads etc

I'm starting tomorrow and wondered if anyone had some advice regarding the method or stories

Thanks!

@chloechloe I'm with you (and Louise!) on the organised home thing. Luckily for me, I'm naturally like that. I wouldn't call myself organised but I'm definitely house proud and have to have everything clutter free, clean and looking lovely. I can confirm this definitely does help - not sure how? But there's something in it. If your bedroom, for example, is all nice with lovely bed linen and no clutter, you do feel more zen. So Louise is definitely onto something here.

@Topazpearlagain you've reminded me to get some pumpkin seeds! I keep forgetting and I love them on yogurt

@NinetyNineRedBalloonsGoBy damn. Wish I'd seen that earlier! I could have eaten halloumi for sure. Instead I had a Ryvita with avocado and some fruit. Like I said, sometimes I just can't eat more veg! Halloumi a great shout!

@Hobbes8 blimey - well done on the run! I can't see me doing that anytime soon. I'm doing my usual swim each day and I've just added in a 4K walk in the afternoon.

I've decided to take Louise's advice and think a bit bigger so my plan is to really go for it and try and get 21 lbs off in the first 6 weeks. I know it's ambitious but doesn't matter if I don't make it.

@Throwawaytoday well done! I like the idea of celebrating things turned down as I have realised that I seem to be offered something pretty much every day! I did used to always say yes ... No wonder I've put on the pounds Blush

Today: I turned down home made chocolate cake brought into the office 💪

HardRockOwl · 29/04/2022 09:17

Butter peaches with Greek yogurt + ricotta with crushed pecans for breakfast today!

That looks delicious @HardRockOwl!

DistantVworp · 29/04/2022 11:36

@HardRockOwl l 21 lbs is a fantastic target - well done on the weight loss so far. I remember having a conversation with someone once about goal setting, and setting big goals - basically her point was that you might not make your goal, but you would probably get further than if you set something you saw as achievable.

So with that in mind, my goal for this 6 weeks is to lose 20lbs (I have a lot of weight to lose).

@Hobbes8 - well done on the run. I'm focusing on making my daily walk a bit more speedy but I'm a long way from running anywhere. Im hoping (shoulder allowing) to start couch to 5k sometime soon - perhaps at the beginning of the next cycle.

On celebrating things turned down - was knackered yesterday and DH offered to go and get a takeaway. Wobbled a bit and then decided to make the lamb curry I'd planned - was delicious and so glad I did!

Food yesterday was Strawberry and Mango smoothie, leftover red cabbage slaw and a small steak for lunch, plus lamb curry and spiced cauliflower rice for dinner. Didn't manage snacks as work was crazy busy and lunch was v filling!

At some point today need to meal plan next week - does feel like a bit of an effort!

Today is a real crunch point for me. I usually eat reasonably healthily during the week and then fall into a vat of wine and chips at the weekend. My son has a friend coming for a sleepover tonight and I’m getting them chip shop chips for tea. Must stay strong!

Planned food:
Strawberry Bircher
Frittara
Either tofu and peanut stir fry or Cajun chicken salad as I have leftovers
Not sure about snacks yet…I have oatcakes, hummus, various berries and seeds and stuff.

keiratwiceknightly · 29/04/2022 13:04

I had a lovely night out on weds and have managed to get back on it afterwards. I do have a very sociable weekend coming up though I can also be quite active - eg Sunday we are doing a 12 mile walk but then eating and drinking a good deal. I'm intending to stay in the circle except for when with others, so hopefully that will limit the damage!

Well done to all others. Some great menus here!

PrincessCarolyn · 29/04/2022 13:11

I have bought the wrong batteries for my scales. So annoying as although I am in prep week I'm pretty sure I've lost weight just by stopping scoffing sweet treats all the time.
Still failing on the digital detox but I am doing a short workout daily.

Moanranger · 29/04/2022 14:33

I had a long planned & lovely meal out last night. At a Master Chef winners restaurant so food was lovely. Not too far out of the circle, tho 1 glass of wine was scoffed.
so 2 days after DPs fasting blood test, surgery phoned him to arrange an appointment with the diabetic nurse. So now he is freaking out. I think they will probably give him lifestyle advice. Besides being clueless as to sugar in EVERYTHING, since WFH he tends to sit stationary at his desk from 9am to 5-6. I actually do not know how he does this. Me, I am too twitchy, I have to get up & down, leave house, go garden, etc. This is going to be at least as challenging for him as food choices.
As to cluelessness, last night after dinner, he suggested that we get a s’fogatto! Duh, that is ice cream with espresso poured over it. Big no-no now😱

Moanranger · 29/04/2022 14:34

Oh, forgot to mention NSV - I am starting to feel my waist!

NinetyNineRedBalloonsGoBy · 29/04/2022 15:58

Amazing NSV @Moanranger!

My NSV: going on a long train journey with DH tonight and already bought the M&S deli picnic plus fizzy water for the journey rather than the usual McDonald's + beer I'd have had in the old times. And I don't even feel deprived (what is happening to me??)

NinetyNineRedBalloonsGoBy · 29/04/2022 16:00

Menu today:

B: oatbran with strawberries and pecans

S: apple with PNB

L: low GI roll with egg mayo + carrot sticks

S: green smoothie

D: the aforementioned M&S deli selection of no carb tapas

HardRockOwl · 29/04/2022 17:32

@PrincessCarolyn how frustrating!

@Moanranger that sounds like a fantastic NSV!

I haven't eaten enough today - and I'm regretting it - really I should start cooking dinner - but I'm too grumpy to...

B: 67,000 coffees (2 coffees)
S: Left over tex-mex beans (cold from fridge)
L: Watermelon steaks (with black olives, rocket, balsamic dressing and feta)
S: apple and peanut butter

Need to get my shit together to make dinner..., 3,2,1!

Flopisfatteningbingforchristmas · 29/04/2022 19:39

Week1, day2
Weight - 14:3 (seem to have lost 3lbs water retention since the start of the week)
Water - I’m not sure but I suspect not enough

B - birchir muesli, raspberries, blackberries and toasted almonds (I put in 2 tables of oats in this time so maybe not a dainty portion)
S - 2 babybels at unplanned softplay trip
L - chicken and mixed herb salad
S - oatcakes, humus and pepper
D - Tuna encrusted with sesame seeds with stir fry veg
Paying the rent - 20 min workout before breakfast!
Only 8,600 steps

I did have a lick of the toddler’s ice cream.

My cookery book has arrived and it looks good.

HardRockOwl · 29/04/2022 20:14

@Flopisfatteningbingforchristmas looks good! And that's a nice little drop in weight, water or no water! Who cares

I'm not drinking enough either so tomorrow I will force myself to

OP posts:
DistantVworp · 29/04/2022 20:59

@Flopisfatteningbingforchristmas - that's a great weight loss, well done Wink

Need to meal plan tonight and make sure I don't go too overboard. I'm really enjoying Bircher for breakfast, which surprises me slightly as yogurt wasn't really my thing before.

Was a very hungry day today so managed 3 meals plus 2 snacks for the first time:

B: strawberry Bircher
S: protein yogurt and seedy strawberries
L: leftover lamb curry and spicy cauliflower rice - we ate all the lamb yesterday though so was really just the sauce
S: protein bar - was really craving a sweet treat and so had one of these
D: beef stew and roast cauliflower (neither delicate nor pretty but tasty).

For the first time ever on MFP I hit my fibre goal!

Throwawaytoday · 29/04/2022 21:37

I've had dinner. Less grumpy now..it was Chicken pizza tray bake. Very nice. Needed parmesan.

I also had a pinch of DD's icing (from cake she brought home from a party).

clpsmum · 30/04/2022 07:47

Well after faffing about all month I have finally got my arse into gear and am starting today! Well done everyone on your losses and lifestyle changes

HardRockOwl · 30/04/2022 09:48
