Louise Parker method anyone? I know it's a bit old fashioned now ..

But I've decided to give it a go

The food is the sort of stuff I like to eat although I'll have to make some substitutes as I'm a vegetarian. But I love Bircher, porridge, all her snacks and salads etc

I'm starting tomorrow and wondered if anyone had some advice regarding the method or stories

Thanks!

The app is asking for me an invite does anyone know what that means or do I have the wrong app?

HardRockOwl · 30/04/2022 11:12

@indiesearcher ooh that's a great loss! You must be pleased. I'm doing ok I think, it's week 5 weigh in next week for me. I've lost 14lbs so far and I'm hoping for another lb or two but who knows?

I resisted the Easter choc but then, to me, it's not like how it used to be in the old days when it was all thin, broke with a really nice snap sound and was delicious.

Ok I'm making myself hungry now

@clpsmum I don't use the app but I do know there's 2 of them - one is for those who are paying Louise 12 grand to be seen in person so that could be why you're being asked for an invite

Food so far for today ..

Cocoa porridge with some Greek yogurt, fresh peach and strawberries

Mixed nuts with a naval orange

@HardRockOwl I can think of better things to do with 12k tbh (if I had 12k that it!) I'll manage without the app 🤣🤦‍♀️

Sounds good. I’m feeling hungry but it’s too early for lunch. I think I will have a cuppa.

Did anyone else have a headache during the first few days?

NinetyNineRedBalloonsGoBy · 30/04/2022 14:26

@Flopisfatteningbingforchristmas yes I did I think it's sugar withdrawal, I found water with lemon helped, and early nights!
Lasted 3 days

Food today:
B: oatbran with blueberries and pecans
L: halloumi & hummus salad
S: smoothie
D: heck sausages with caulimash

Thinking of making caulimash with frozen cauliflower- has anyone got any experience of this? Does it work?

Bit disappointed that I've lost nothing this week (week 2). I lost 5lb in week one though, and I haven't put any on, and I'm really enjoying the food and never being hungry so I'll keep on trucking.

Hobbes8 · 30/04/2022 16:56

Sometimes having something salty helps with headaches. I think it depends what it’s caused by - I have headaches when I low carb so it could be that if you’ve reduced carbs a lot. Or sugar or caffeine withdrawal?

Ive just been for another run. A run.

Flopisfatteningbingforchristmas · 30/04/2022 19:47

@Hobbes8 Im impressed with the run.

I’ve reduced everything except exercise. I think my body is in shock.

Week1, day3
Weight 14s 2.5lb, (-1/2 loss today, 3.5lb total loss)
Water - ?
Breakfast- Feta and pea omelette with grilled mushroom
S- apple and pistachio
L - chicken soup
S- humus on oat cakes with a handful of strawberries
D- lamb steak with veg
Work out - trying to build up the enthusiasm to do it.
Steps - 5,800

Hobbes8 · 30/04/2022 20:04

@Flopisfatteningbingforchristmas thanks! I’m not a natural runner. More of a wheezy hippo than a gazelle.

Today’s food:
B: strawberry bircher
L: asparagus frittata and salad with half an avocado
D: Tofu and peanut stir fry (actually cashews)
S: naked bar (not strictly on plan) and oatcakes and hummus

….and no booze!

HardRockOwl · 30/04/2022 20:13

@NinetyNineRedBalloonsGoBy 5lbs is a great loss and remember - weight loss isn't linear so it doesn't drop steadily every week. You'll have stalls and then drops etc

And yes, I'll probably need to take this advice myself on Monday morning!! I can't see how I'll have lost so I'm expecting a stay the same but I shan't give up yet!

Can I join you all. I’ve just caught up with the thread and my cook book arrived this afternoon. Food today
Breakfast yoghurty oats and seeds with berries and greens
Lunch veggie bolognese with greens and avocado
Dinner cheese omelette and vegetables
Snack apple with peanut butter

All went well until I fell into the cheese! The most important thing I’ve read in the book so far is don’t eat standing up I might need to print that off and stick it on my fridge!
Hopefully food photo is attached. Exercise was ok yoga , body pump and a walk

Louise Parker method anyone? I know it's a bit old fashioned now ..
HardRockOwl · 30/04/2022 20:15

@Hobbes8 blimey. A run. I don't think I'll ever run again tbh. Only to save my life or summat.

I could run 5K in 34 minutes about 6 years ago. I couldn't do it in 90 mins I doubt these days.

Who knows though? Maybe you'll inspire me. I could consider couch to 5K

Actually let's not get carried away

@KitchenFishCurry welcome! Course you can join us

That looks like a good first day of food. Cheese is a real trigger for me too.. I could eat half a block of Cornish cruncher!

KitchenFishCurry · 30/04/2022 20:16

@Hobbes8 if you are moving quicker than a walk you are running, and sometimes you need to walk as well

HardRockOwl · 30/04/2022 20:18

Food times

Porridge with fresh peach + strawberries and Greek yogurt

Mixed nuts + an orange

Edamame bean salad with halloumi and feta (yes I double cheesed)

Smoothie with berries, oat bran, chia seeds, oat milk

Low carb wrap with tomatoes, hummus and vegan chicken slices

I've been reading the six week programme book and I'm now feeling much more committed to trying to do as much as possible of her Method (gotta capitalise it). Starting officially on Monday but I've been getting a feel for life in the circle today with Bircher breakfast (my first ever - it was delicious and so filling) and 10k steps (it feels like a lot of steps, I was on the go all day!). I like her mantra of "progress, not perfection". Have laid the table ready for breakfast in the morning, in the name of living beautifully.

I can't ditch the nighttime screen time just yet though - I need it to help me stay awake during night feeds!

HardRockOwl · 30/04/2022 22:39

@GoodNutButters the bircher is nice isn't it? I tweak mine all the time and have had some delicious ones

Yeah I can't kick the phone thing either. My career is online - I'm a social media manager among other bits and pieces.

However I appreciate that isn't brain surgeon levels so I COULD put it down ..

I'll work towards that

GoodNutButters · 01/05/2022 08:49

Yes, it's a revelation! My fussy 4yo dd asked to try some of my strawberry bircher this morning and loved it, so I'll make extra for her tomorrow. I really like that the recipes are all so appetising. It's not punishment diet food at all.

Does anyone have any tips for the best lunches to make in batches, a few days' worth to keep in the fridge?

TheMildManneredMilitant · 01/05/2022 09:39

Morning all. Weigh in today and 3lbs down in first week from 10.7 something to 10.4 something. Goal is to loose a stone. Hasn't felt like a particular struggle either, couple of times I almost fell out the circle because was stressed and wanted to pig out on chocolate but resisted.

Trying to treat this as a way of reducing low level anxiety and giving my body what it needs, with weight loss as a bonus. Definitely feel brighter this week which is good.

@GoodNutButters bean salad is a good one to prep in advance - no leaves so doesn't wilt away. You can always add oil/vinegar/feta quickly on the day you want it.

Sutra · 01/05/2022 09:59

I’m having a lovely morning pottering in the kitchen while the kids (all teenagers!) sleep in. I’ve made a frittata that will do 2 meals and a lentil and vegetable soup that will also feed me twice.

Will probably pop to the shops later to stock up on some more vegetables. I’ve often been having one of those stir fry packs you can get in the prepped vegetable section of Tesco etc. They are supposed to serve two, but I just have the whole pack stir fried in a teaspoon of olive oil with a few eggs or some Quorn and some soy sauce, chilli, garlic, ginger.
It makes an on plan meal that tastes good and takes about 3 minutes.

HardRockOwl · 01/05/2022 12:28

@TheMildManneredMilitant that's a great loss for week one. Well done

I'm doing my help out day in my friends cafe today. So good is a bit weird as it's so tricky for me

Bircher this morning with raspberries and blueberries

Snack of mixed nuts and strawberries

Lunch has just been carrot sticks and hummus

2nd snack will be apple and peanut butter

No idea on dinner!

Not hopeful for a loss tomorrow sadly. I think I'll stay the same which I can't help being cross about!

chloechloe · 01/05/2022 14:35

For a quick lunch @GoodNutButters I was going to suggest the three bean salad too or the tossed tuna salad.

The weather is still quite cold here so I tend to like soups which I make in batches and just re-heat. Carrot and lentil, roasted pepper and tomato or vegetable soup for example.

I also like shakshuka so had the idea to make the sauce in a batch, then you just need to warm it in the pan, crack the eggs on top and stick it in the oven.

NinetyNineRedBalloonsGoBy · 01/05/2022 16:48

Menu today:

B: oatbran with strawberries and pecans

S: Babybel and grapes

L: bacon, egg, mushrooms & tomatoes and 1 slice sourdough

S: monkey toast (first time I made this, was sceptical but it was bloody lovely!)

D: lovely lentil bake
