Louise Parker method anyone? I know it's a bit old fashioned now ..

But I've decided to give it a go

The food is the sort of stuff I like to eat although I'll have to make some substitutes as I'm a vegetarian. But I love Bircher, porridge, all her snacks and salads etc

I'm starting tomorrow and wondered if anyone had some advice regarding the method or stories

Thanks!

Hello @Grytviken
I've also got 3 stone to lose to be healthy but this feels very do-able. I prepped by making sure I did10k steps a day and trying out a few recipes. Now I've started, determined to do 42 clear days - no stepping outside the circle - as in the past once i step outside the circle even once I'm back to old habits within a week.

HardRockOwl · 17/04/2022 12:39

@Grytviken welcome. And yes I'm not too far away from you in what I need to lose. I'm aiming for two stone off but if I'm being truthful with myself, it is probably more

One of my 'I've got to do this!' moments came when I bought an amazing coat last month. It's sold out everywhere and I could only get it in a size 12. So I bought it on the off chance it would be slightly oversized.

Well, it isn't and it's very tight on my arms to the point of being unwearable. But I couldn't bring myself to return it as I love it so that was one of my turning points. I really can't have this coat sat in my wardrobe unworn as it was hundreds of pounds and I've missed the return window now. So .. I've got to lose weight.

Oh and of course for all the health benefits too!

It's my week 3 weigh in tomorrow so I'm hoping for something off. I don't think it'll be much as I've lost 10 lbs (officially) in 2 weeks and much as I wish it could be true, this weight loss doesn't continue in a nice linear fashion

@NinetyNineRedBalloonsGoBy yes this is me. I can't rid myself of the 'all it nothing' mentality just yet although I'll work on this. I'll just stick with the 6 weeks and follow it to the letter - I do make a few ingredient substitutions but not many and I just choose 3 meals a day and 2 snacks.. I'm really feeling positive that I can lose my first stone within the first month on plan - and as that's what they promise, loss wise, on diets like Cambridge, I don't know think that's too bad considering I literally never am an hour or two away from a snack or meal 😀

Well, DP did NOT present me with chocolate today, so that’s a win (although he did other things to annoy me, but as this is not the Relationship thread, I will draw a veil)
Grytulken re dainty, I am thinking this woe is not for someone whose idea of foodie bliss is a McDonalds, eaten in your car while parked in a multi-storey car park! I actually saw a McD’s advert along these lines. So dainty it is.
I generally do a full recipe so then I have leftovers for 1 or more meals.
Re breakfast, there are actually quite a few options besides smoothies & Bircher oats (not a fan of the last one!) I have 8 more of my high protein apple & cinnamon muffins in my freezer, so I will continue to use those when I need a quick breakfast.
Happy cooking all!

HardRockOwl · 17/04/2022 15:03

@NinetyNineRedBalloonsGoBy At first I thought I wouldn't really want to drink a smoothie 18 hours later however I'm sure it would be fine depending on when you're going to put in it?

An oat milk (or any milk!), maybe oat bran, yogurt, and maybe some fruit blender through .. it's not dissimilar to the bircher when you think about it

OP posts:
HardRockOwl · 17/04/2022 15:14

Have avoided all chocolate so feeling all smug about that Grin

Have had ..

Porridge, yogurt + strawberries for breakfast

Apple slices with peanut butter for a snack

Oat roll with plant kitchen bacon, tomato and a little light cream cheese

Contemplating my next snack now ..

OP posts:
NinetyNineRedBalloonsGoBy · 17/04/2022 15:48

@HardRockOwl your oat roll sounds delicious- where did you find that?

Re the smoothie - I wonder if fresh fruit rather than frozen will help it stay 18 hours? 🤔 will experiment to find out

Moanranger · 17/04/2022 16:36

99 I think your smoothie should be ok, but might separate- maybe just give it a good shake.
Report back on how it went.

Grytviken · 17/04/2022 19:17

Thanks for all the encouraging words. I too am a bit all or nothing, I told my OH I was starting something new on Monday and he rolled his eyes and said boom or bust, which is kind of how it always goes! I'm hoping that I can see this as a new way of eating rather than the usual quick fix I go for, as someone else said a post or two ago it's nice to think I'm never going to be more than a couple of hours away from a snack or a meal! @HardRockOwl the new coat sounds like a great incentive, we are booked to go to Disney this July, a holiday much cancelled and rebooked due to covid, I'm so worried about how hot and tiring it will be at my current weight, so I'm going to try and use that as my incentive to do two rounds of 6 weeks and stay in the circle as much as I can.

HardRockOwl · 17/04/2022 21:41

Dinner was a salad of rocket, tomatoes, plant kitchen Piri piri pieces, avocado + red pepper with an olive oil + balsamic vinegar dressing

Crossing my fingers for a small loss tomorrow on week 3 weigh in

It’s lovely to see this thread so busy, welcome to the new people!

My food diary over this weekend reads like the Very Hungry Caterpillar and I’ve just weighed myself and I think I’m the heaviest I’ve ever been. I’ve kept up with the steps and the exercise - I like Tracy Anderson. But the food has been a disaster. I am going to plan, take it one day at a time and aim to report back each evening this week that I’ve been successfully In The Circle.

Happy Easter everyone Easter Smile

Toomuch2019 · 18/04/2022 08:18

Hi all, hoping to join you all if that's ok?
Like @Grytviken I've got a Florida trip in July so am hoping two cycles helps me get into my holiday clothes!
Starting properly tomorrow, have made a meal plan and shop arrives later but have been starting on the principles this weekend
Excited to start and live a bit more healthily feel so sluggish at the moment

NinetyNineRedBalloonsGoBy · 18/04/2022 10:17

Welcome @Toomuch2019

My menu plan for theatre is:

B: Greek yoghurt & almonds & raspberries

S: oatcake and PNB

L: bacon, eggs, mushrooms, tomatoes, 1 slice whole meal bread

S: red berry smoothie

D: posh (Heck) sausages with roasted Brussels and tomatoes and red onions

Maybe too much red meat today?

NinetyNineRedBalloonsGoBy · 18/04/2022 10:18
  • today not theatre Hmm
HardRockOwl · 18/04/2022 12:26

Morning all

Well it's week 3 weigh in for me and it's 2lbs off so I'm happy with that. I'd hoped for the stone off but knew that was optimistic

So ..

Week 1 - 7lbs

Week 2 - 3lbs

Week 3 - 2lbs

Total in 3 weeks - 12 lbs

I think that's quite a decent loss so fingers crossed for the stone off next week!

@Toomuch2019 welcome to the thread. Do throw yourself in. Which of the books do you have?

OP posts:
HardRockOwl · 18/04/2022 12:33

You can do it @Sutra! You've got the exercise nailed, it's just the food side. Good idea to log it every evening

OP posts:
HardRockOwl · 18/04/2022 12:41

@NinetyNineRedBalloonsGoBy sounds like a good day of good to me!

I've had ..

Tortilla wrap with plant kitchen Piri piri pieces, salad + a little light Philadelphia

Apple + peanut butter

Not sure on rest of day yet but I think lunch may be mozzarella, beef tomato + avocado

Hello everyone I am starting tomorrow - doing my meal plan for the week now. If anyone has any brilliant veggie or vegan recipes that work, I’d love to hear about them.

Toomuch2019 · 18/04/2022 14:06

Thanks @NinetyNineRedBalloonsGoBy and @HardRockOwl - I have the Lean for Life method book but I've also ordered the others to give the variety in recipies-decided I'm going to throw myself in properly! So excited there's a community of people doing it to share ideas/progress etc

Welcome @Lostmyunicorn we are starting at the same time!

@Toomuch2019 Yes, I'd recommend getting all the books - can be cheaply done via Vinted / Amazon sellers. Just gives you more options and ideas

Hi all, just been for an 11mile bike ride with my family so def ok on the exercise front. Food today was

Bacon, egg, mushrooms and beans

Nut roast and greens

Beetroot, orange, watercress and goats cheese salad all ready for later.

Currently ignoring my family who ate all tucking into currant buns and am having a handful of nuts.

Had a bonus food prep session today and there are lunches boxed in the fridge for the next few days. Was planning to make a batch of all the Ps smoothie too but forgot to get pears so that can wait until tomorrow. Making my next batch of yoghurt as we speak as last lot getting a little low now.

Topazpearlagain · 18/04/2022 16:58

Well my week 2 loss was a staggering 0.2 lb (bringing my total to 4.4 lb). I was 1lb lower on Friday and Saturday, but I chose to step out of the circle yesterday. We had family here and although I had cooked a dinner that would be on-plan for me, with extras for DH and them, they turned up with delicious home-made starters and dessert . (There may also have been prosecco....) As someone above said, quoting LP, you have to live your life, so I don't regret it and am back in the circle today.

That is a fantastic loss HardRockOwl. You must be very pleased.

Well done on all that food prep ElvenDreamer.

HardRockOwl · 18/04/2022 17:00

That's a very good overall loss for 2 weeks @Topazpearlagain - am I right in thinking you don't have a lot to lose?
