Just started Fast 800 - care to join me?

Hello

Despite my user name, I will not allow myself to be ambushed by cakes etc for at least 3 weeks. I have a stone to lose and have just read the Fast 800 Keto and watched the series on 4 on Demand, How to Lose a stone in 21 days.

Day one went well. Had 3 lovely meals (recipes delicious and easy to prepare) but just not a lot of them.

The 5 volunteers on the Channel 4 series lost between 10 lbs and 1st 10 lbs in 21 days. That has got to be a great motivation.

Please join me if you like the sound of this, as we can support each other.

Hello, is it too late to join? I had some success with this last year but struggled during lockdown. I've just bought the recipe book so starting today.

InterstellarDrifter · 02/03/2022 10:46

This has been something I’m thinking about. I would actually love, love, love to do it but am a complete carb addict and find it so difficult. To the point where it almost seems impossible. I’m doing intermittent fasting at the moment but it’s not working well because I eat sandwiches and crisps when have lunch.

Ambushedbycakeinmydreams · 02/03/2022 11:50

Hey, welcome on board! I was feeling rather lonely but so glad to have some takers @Winecheesesleep

@InterstellarDrifter, I feel your pain. However, I'm on day 4 and the recipes are delicious and quite satisfying as they are so varied and tasty (and easy to prepare - v important).

Starting stats for me:
Height 169cm (5ft 6.5")
BMI 24.2
Weight 10st 13.5lb
Size 12.

Aim to shift a stone or so by 20 March and then a bit more to get to target of 9st 7lbs. If I lose any more than that I look gaunt and lose my bust!

I've just started the fast 800 keto book but think I'll stick with the original fast 800 as want to be able to still eat some carbs. E.g some rice or a small piece of bread. I've started leaving 16 hrs between my last meal of the day and first meal the next day. I'm starting tomorrow properly as tonight involves chicken tikka masala, rice plus a couple of drinks!

Ambushedbycakeinmydreams · 02/03/2022 12:03

Welcome Catrice and good luck!

Please post any updates as I will be interested to know how you get on.

Ambushedbycakeinmydreams joining please. I started on Monday too and have the old Fast 800 book and watched the tv programme.

So far it’s going great, I like this way of eating. Fingers crossed I keep going as I don’t fit in my clothes and am down to 2 pairs of elasticated waist trousers. I am small boned with a huge stomach and busty. Basically I look like a barrel at this weight.

SW 11st 4 lbs
GW 9 st
Height 5ft 5

@JodieFoster1

Hi there and welcome! I'm so glad it's going well for you too and let's keep updated on progress. I'm really enjoying the food (definitely will be making some habit for life changes after Fast 800) but exercise is harder than usual ... no doubt because i'm having a lot less calories and no instant carbs to burn.

We're having the neighbours around tomorrow night for a meal and my husband has already warned them so I can keep Ketoing uninterrupted.

JodieFoster1 · 03/03/2022 14:19

Thanks for the welcome. I am doing zero exercise, so feel fine. I have quite a bit to lose, plan is to reduce some tummy rolls and then try the cross trainer again. I think I will need to do the fast 800 for 8 weeks to get near my goal weight.

JodieFoster1 · 05/03/2022 10:32

How’s everyone doing? Ambushed did last nights dinner stay on plan? Weekends are when I usually undo the weeks progress but determined not to this weekend. Had steak and big salad last night, today is mushroom and poached egg for lunch, salmon and spinach for dinner.

clairebeacham · 05/03/2022 10:33

I started on Monday too! It's time to lose the baby weight for me (have 20kg to lose). So far I am down 3.1kg and have just done park run and felt good.
Hoping I don't get derailed by meals cooked by others, Easter chocolate and anxiously eating cake whilst worrying about the world. But so far so good.

Woodswoman · 05/03/2022 10:39

What are the recipes? Or which book is it? I really want to do this too, have to have a big kick start to lose some weight before I can start running again, I feel like I’ll be running carrying a rucksack full of boulders at this weight!

JodieFoster1 · 05/03/2022 10:47

Woodswoman it’s Fast800 Keto by Michael Moseley. I am actually doing the older version called Fast 800, there was also a tv series on C4 called How to Lose a Stone in 21 days.

It’s proper food, protein, fat, lots of veg but low carb, 800 kc a day. Hope I’ve explained it ok, I am no expert.

It suits me as I want to lose weight fast and am encouraged by the numbers going down (waist measurement or scales). My friend is a grazer and finds this too hard, she also feels weak without carbs, it’s not for everyone. I feel great on it! I should add I do not exercise other than walk.

JodieFoster1 · 05/03/2022 10:51

clairebeacham that’s a huge loss in 5 days! Well done! I am down 1.8 kg (4 lbs) and really pleased. I am 54 and it’s tough to lose blubber now but having teenagers is a lot easier than toddlers so swings and roundabouts I guess.

clairebeacham · 05/03/2022 14:54

@JodieFoster1 well done to you too!! I have two toddlers to run around after. I have found that sleep deprivation and being at home is what derails me. I am determined to stick to this for the next 11 weeks and see where it gets me. I think a lot of the first week is water weight. I am 6ft 1 so I think there's probably a lot more water to lose 🤣

Ambushedbycakeinmydreams · 05/03/2022 15:15

Hello and welcome to @Woodswoman and @clairebeacham

I'm half way through day 7 and it's going really well. Even without weighing myself I can tell I have lost a few pounds as some of my clothes feel looser already. My evening with the neighbours went really well.

I stuck to the plan and made the raspberry fool recipe - it was hilarious as i have never served nor eaten such a small dessert in my entire life. And as a bonus, my neighbours reveal they regularly dive into the Fast 800 and are big Mosley fans - so they completely got it!

I'm into keto (somewhere around 3) but still feel a bit tired after physical activity ...

Morning everyone

Now Day 9 of the Fast 800 Keto and it's going really, really well. I have not weighed myself as waiting for 21 days to be up but I did measure my waist and I have lost 2"!

Also my clothes - I have dropped a dress size as I tried loads of things on and woah, they fit!

Feeling less hungry and less weary now as ketosis has kicked in - but I have had to reduce intensity of exercise as my legs get more tired now. I'm so pleased I've found this method. But I still have a long way to go ...

JodieFoster1 · 07/03/2022 08:40

Morning, day 8 for me and down 5 lbs, thrilled with this. No difference in clothes for me yet. I am in the 10 stones now (only just) and close to a normal bmi.

clairebeacham · 07/03/2022 08:55

Morning all. I am down 3.4kg this morning, but have woken up feeling very hungry and achy. Think this might be a bit of Keto flu. Now to stay motivated for the next week!

Ambushedbycakeinmydreams · 07/03/2022 09:01

Hi Jodie and Claire

Well done both of you! Really thrilled Jodie for your 5 lbs loss - don't worry, give it a few days and your clothes will feel different - have a good try-on session and you will see what I mean.

Claire, keep with it - keto flu will pass but it may take a few days. If you do a keto test and it's positive this may give you added motivation.

Re day 9 I feel I have passed the flu and feel really good :)

JodieFoster1 · 07/03/2022 09:20

Ambushedbycakeinmydreams thanks so much! I have been really strict.

clairebeacham over 7 lbs in one week is a fab start. I am hungry today too for the first time. I am planning on scrambled eggs for early lunch and sardines for dinner with veg.

Trick is to keep going. I have a very rare day to myself today, thinking of a long walk and watching whatever free diet programme is knocking around on tv to inspire me.

Fingers crossed for a good week for everyone.

Ambushedbycakeinmydreams · 07/03/2022 10:40

Hi again
@clairebeacham Sorry I'm didn't register your very impressing 3.4kg loss. That must be some motivation!

About to have breakfast which will be keto pancakes, yoghurt and raspberries. I have put on a nice outfit today that my new slimmer self can now wear well.

Fingers crossed here too for a good week for us all.

Sunshinegirl82 · 07/03/2022 10:49

Hi all,

Can I join? I've been doing stage 1 of fast 800 Keto for 4 weeks now and I'm down a stone which is great! Ive still got at least 3 stone to lose so I'll be doing stage 1 for the full 12 weeks at least. I've never eaten so much cauliflower 😀

I have actually found it really easy to stick to compared to other diets I've been on although you do need to plan ahead as can be quite hard to get lunch etc when out and about (as I discovered at Peppa Pig World in half term!)

I've bought a really good book called The Keto Kitchen which has some really nice recipes although you obviously need to mind your calories and portion sizes.

Well done everyone on the excellent results so far! It certainly helps with the motivation when you see it working!

Supersee · 07/03/2022 11:01

Hi all,

I have the original Fast 800 books and the red and blue recipe books. I flit between this, serious low carb, calorie counting and back.

No wonder I don't lose weight. I'm genuinely sick and tired of not feeling great and I've put on a stone and a half in lockdown and I needed to lose half a stone before that. I'm only 5'3 so everything shows but 2 stone will have me back into all my clothes.

A trip to the beach for me yesterday got me thinking of nicer weather ahead so enough is enough. I have carby things to finish today but will dip toe back in from tomorrow. I'm away on a city break over the weekend but the main thing for me is no alcohol which has been reaching problem levels so no wine, cut waay down and give it 100% from next week once I'm back.

Aiming for close to a stone by Easter.

anon2022anon · 07/03/2022 11:08

I'm here. Started this in August, got covid 2 weeks later and been on and off the wagon since.

Starting weight is approx 85kg
I would like to lose 15-20kg

I think I need to focuse on the water and protein first, then the calories.

Ambushedbycakeinmydreams · 07/03/2022 14:01

@Supersee, @Sunshinegirl82, @anon2022anon

And a very warm welcome to you all - nice to have you onboard!

Sunshine, you've made great progress so far with your stone loss - keep it going, I'll try to offer on-going support.
