Hi everyone. New thread as promised. A little later than planned but I'm blaming celebrating too much last night.
I wish I could say it was a good start but I'm feeding my hangover today so looks like I'm going to start tomorrow.
Is everyone feeling motivated?

igd,im similar in that I have done it before (7 years ago) and it worked..lost 1.5st...started 3 weeks ago and lost 2.5 lbs Not brill imho..... I have stuck to it 100% and consultant has seen my record and agrees. This week she suggested "messing" with my a's and b's and mix green & red days. So I have had lots of green days (never done before) and some days have x1 or x2 a's and x1 heb or been having x2 heb...I have also changed the b's iykwim so I have toast, or soup or today bought alpen light bars to try as heb.....

Basically trying anything.! TBH, I don't think consultants have a clue...most seem to take your money and have no constructive advice as to why you have lost little iykwim. IME/O unless you are lossing or have lots to loose they don't seem concerned .

SWlurker · 28/01/2008 23:20

Do you know about the slimming world quiche? eggs beaten with either quark or cottage cheese and filling of your choice. I made one the other week, no less than 5, thats FIVE eggs, quorn sausages and some cooked bacon. it was so delish I had intended to have half for brunch but ate the whole thing - and had a good weight loss that week!

zippychick · 28/01/2008 23:49

Ive been very bad

I went out on friday for an Indian. Devoured an onion baghi, half a nan bread and most of a portion of chicken basmati i think it was - ad poppadums!

Felt sick as a dog for the rest of the night and sure paid for it but it was gorg. Next time ill listen to my body and stop eating

Saturday, kept to it food wise but went out on the drink, lots of vodka (no beer or cider, oh no, wait there was some cider). Sunday hangover. Stuck to it food wise until 830pm came and i felt so awful, i treated myself to two bags of crisps and a lion bar.

Today i didnt have time to eat in work - new job thing - so i had one meal. Last week was mostly the same , one meal a day, so ive no chance of losing this week - surely not.

zippychick · 28/01/2008 23:50

chicken byrani, not basmati! duh! Mmmmmmmm

Morgan · 29/01/2008 08:54

Hi everyone, just signed up to SW on line as live abroad. Really need to lose about 4 stone at least so lots of work to do. Just printing off lists of stuff can eat etc as have never done sw before - am a ww veteran but thought i would give this a try. Any tips for starting off welcome. Can't really get v low fat stuff here - but will have a look around to see what i can get - know i can but fat free philly so that may be good (if expensive!)

Beadmum · 29/01/2008 09:02

stayed the same this week

Made me realise i want to be extra good this week so why did i have a dominoes pizza last night? didnt even enjoy it and felt horrible afterwards so back onto the plan today

misdee · 29/01/2008 14:18

right, i'm going to alternate between red and green days for a week, and see if that makes a difference to my losses. have been having green days for the last month or so.

i have noticed however, that i have cut down the amount i am eating. i used to scoff free food all day, but now i have 3 meals and about 3-4snacks a day of fruit, mullerlights or low syn food. where as before i was grazing morning, noon and night.

i even forgot my HeB hifi bar last night i had saved lol.

lurcherlass · 29/01/2008 15:19

Welcome Morgan! I guess you have access to fruit and veg, pasta, rice, eggs and lean meat where you live? if you can buy semi skimmed milk, you have most of the basics. A collection of herbs, some garlic and a jar of minced ginger and you'll be able to make stir-fries and curries. Can you buy coriander or grow some? You need fry-light spray for cooking, or mix olive oil and water in one of those travel spray bottles.
In an ideal world, I would want Quorn mince and sausages, fromage frais, low fat yohurts, chicken bovril, frozen peas, grated mozzarella cheese and packets of cous-cous.

nikkid21 · 29/01/2008 16:35

For anyone interested I've just made up a recipe for an 'after eight' cake thing as the mint choc hifi bars aren't hitting the spot for me. It looks like a cow pat but there's lots of it for not too many syns

Syns for whole cake - 1heB + 4.5 syns (for cocoa)
1 weetabix + 4 scan bran (crushed into crumbs)
2 eggs
300ml boiling water
3 tbsp canderel
3tbsp cocoa powder
good slug of peppermint essence

Mix the weetabix / scan bran with most of the water and set aside to go soft.
Mix eggs, canderel, mint flavour and cocoa together with whats left of the water.
Combine both bits togather and put in the microwave on full for 5/6 mins.

Bonus is that with all that fibre I struggle to eat more than half in 1 sitting.

lurcherlass · 29/01/2008 17:28

I can't find Scanbran anywhere and I'm dying to try all these cakes!!!The health food shop closed, but we have a Tesco, Morrison, Boots,Superdrug, Sainsbury and Marks near here?

Sparkler · 29/01/2008 17:42

Hi lurcherlass thanks for that - we do have most of that here in Dubai! Did buy some fat free yeo valley yoghurt but at over equvalent 3 pounds a pot i wont be doing that too often - the local low fat yoghurt has 1% fat - i checked it out today. Again some of these things are available but at a price - also bought reduced fat ricotta today as that looked quite good - no reduced fat cottage cheese here only normal.Lots of herbs and spices so no prob there - had a good green day today - made a big salad with coucous and leftover cold lamb for supper and lots of veggies too and some yoghurt on the top.

Shhhh · 29/01/2008 18:23

nikki, lol at the "cow pat" ..

Morgan, welcome..!!! DUBAI...............Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh fond memories, went there on honeymoon and dd was conceived there . Would love to go back but no chance with 2 lo's. !!! Im not mad enough to endure a 6 hour flight yet!!!

sugarlumps · 29/01/2008 18:36

that after 8 cake sounds yum!!! may have to give that a go if i can find the scan bran..im struggling too! its probably right in front of me when im looking but im being dumb lol!

has anyone tried the quorn sweet and sour? my sis in law is coming for dinner on sat and we normally haev a take away so im going to be prepared and have all the ingriedients in so i dont give in to 1!

i bought a bike today! so as soon as i can find a babysitter i'll be off down the trail behind my house its a good 11 miles so i'm not sure i'll be doing that the first time though! im not sure my bum will know whats hit it!!!!

2 days til weigh in...fingers crossed its better than last weeks half a pound!!!

Ledodgy · 29/01/2008 18:49

Hello everyone. Baby is four weeks old on Thursday so I have started SW again yesterday when I say started I'm just following the diet at home for now i'm not planning on going back to my group for a few weeks yet as i'm bf and attached to newborn for most of the time. Have enjoyed the two days back on SW am definately ready to commit again and fed up of eating rubbish! I reckon I need to lose arund two stone to get back to my pre pregnancy weight and then I want to lose a further 1/2-1 stone after that.

lurcherlass · 29/01/2008 18:55

Welcome back Ledodgy and congrats on your new baby, BOY or GIRL?
Anyone wanting a different cereal, I just found Morrison Puffed wheat. Its sugar free, so you can have a big serving 28g, for 5 1/2 syns, using candarel or some such sweetner. I'm gonna count it as a HEB as I'm bored with weetabix.

nikkid21 · 29/01/2008 18:59

lurcherlass - I think that you can get scanbran from healthfood shops like Holland & Barrat. If not do you have a paypal account? If so I can buy them for you at my meeting and post them. You can just pay via paypal.
I run a business on ebay so go to the post office everyday anyway

Smithy · 29/01/2008 19:02

Hi there
Has anyone tried the Chilli Corn Bread, advertised on the Slimming World Website - it's delish! I made it yesterday - recipe here. Free on green if I remember correctly.

AandMsmum · 29/01/2008 19:13

Does anyone know this weeks lifeline online passwords - need to know the syns for werthers butter mints I'm currently chomping through! Thanks!

nikkid21 · 29/01/2008 19:18

herring is still working

AandMsmum · 29/01/2008 19:28

Thank you nikkid21!

skankywitch · 29/01/2008 19:48

BOVRIL is new password from group today.

skankywitch · 29/01/2008 20:05

FFF2 Thanks for enlightning me about spinning!!
God I feel knackard just reading about it.

But seriously I must find some form of exercise that I can endure.

I hate swimming (unless in the sea) and no sea anywhere nearby and swimming also leaves me starving.

I love to walk and have been really stepping out rather than dawdling along, so at least that's a start.

I lost another 2lb this week so have my half stone award, I'm so pleased with myself not bad results for 3 weeks of stuffing my face with free foods

Hope everyone else is having a good week.
xx

Shhhh · 29/01/2008 20:11

sugarlumps, make your own sweet and sour...

If on red:
Chicken (lots)
Fried with: Peppers, onions and pineapple ( whole pineapple you cut yourself..DON'T buy it pre cut as I did..syns galore...)

Add to it an uncle bens s&s light sauce at 13 syns per jar BUT shared between 2/4 means between 6.5-3 (ish) syns.

Or on green use chicken from heb (?) and as above with rice (?)..sorry not 100% on green days atm.

IMO a bit tastier than quorn s&s..!!! In fact dh & I find its on par with a take away .!!!! Ha..!!!

AandMsmum · 29/01/2008 20:56

Hi shhhh, thanks for the advice a couple of weeks back for target maintaining! I hadn't spotted your reply before now.. I've spoken to my consultant but to be honest she's a bit useless - put it this way she's not exactly a shining example of a successful slimming world member!

I went to class last week and stayed for image therapy so I could put my concerns to the group - well she cut me off mid sentence and went on to some one else, oooh I was not a happy girl!

Exercise didn't seem to help me lose weight a lot quicker, just made my shape change and made it so that I could be a little less strict with my sins. I've heard of others losing loads more by adding execise though so it's different for everyone - I think it can depend on what type of exerise you do as well.
