Hi everyone. New thread as promised. A little later than planned but I'm blaming celebrating too much last night.
I wish I could say it was a good start but I'm feeding my hangover today so looks like I'm going to start tomorrow.
Is everyone feeling motivated?

Thanks

Hey LL, how did the meal go at your friends house? Did they like the giant jaffa cake?

SkankyWitch, I can only say that I had a good week, I don't think I did anything special, just did 2 spin classes differently than what I usually would have done. They wreck you though... esp as my sister is a psycho who pushes & pushes....

I did make a few recipes from the SW mag, I think I'm going to try another recipe this weekend & see what I think. I didn't have too many syns, maybe 4 or 5 a day, apart from the day I had a bag of french fries & a curly wurly, but I need to allow myself with that.

I woke up this am feeling ill. I had diarrhoea all night & have no energy. Then I spent this morning at my mum's house as my brother was mending my car... she informed me I'm not actually as fat as I look when I'm wearing my jeans Said it in the most sincere voice I had to laugh.. just like "You know XXXX, you don't actually have a stomach.. I think it's the clothes you wear that makes you look fat... throw those jeans out!" (Today I was wearing a jog suit I pulled out of the wardrobe as I had been planning on getting back into bed!!!)

lurcherlass · 24/01/2008 16:14

Yes, FF,they did! I don't think we whisked up the egg whites enough tho and some of the mixture soaked into the sponge base. It looked kind-of marbled which impressed mates no end The general flavour was nice and if you just made the topping and plopped it into little pots, you could make a few individual mousses. I would make it again, but beat the hell out of the egg whites to get them fluffed up a lot more
Had to smile at your Mum FF, these Irish matriachs are pretty plain-spoken don't you find

Fireflyfairy2 · 24/01/2008 17:18

Plain spoken.. yeah, we tend to say subtle as a brick or "there's no back doors in you!"

Dh said he's going to try the jaffa cake soon

kid · 24/01/2008 17:53

I tend to eat weetabix for breakfast so thats my first HEb, then have rice for lunch and pasta for dinner and then fruit and muller lights in between.
Its only when I am sitting here late at night I realise and by then its too late to eat.

I have just bought some Ryvita cereal bars, you can have 2 of them for 1 HEb. I will fit them in easily as a snack. I stick to around 12 syns a day, most of which is a curly wurly or celebration chocolates.

lurcherlass · 24/01/2008 19:24

2 Alpen light also count as 1 HEB, the orange choc ones are nice

skankywitch · 24/01/2008 20:00

LOL at all you curly wurly eaters have you tried putting them in the freezer so they take longer to eat. They are still yummy.

FFF2 I have no idea what spin classes are sounds painful. Hope you're feeling better soon .

We had a tasting session at class on Tuesday that I didn't stay for, but my friend made the mini chocolate muffins out of this months slimming world mag. They were ok very tiny and didn't really hit the spot, tasted of cinnamon rather than chocolate disapointing especially when they are 2 1/2 syns each.

zippychick · 24/01/2008 20:35

God! i buy these breaded cod fillets from tescos and thought they would be ok. Checked them tonight, allowing that for on a red day the fish is free - the calculator prompts you, and it turns out theres 7 syns in the breading etc! Gah! SUgar and S**T! Ive been eating 7 syns a couple a times a week and not knowing

Good work on the losses ladies, keep it up

kid · 24/01/2008 20:53

I daren't put the curly wurly in the freezer, it feels like my teeth are going to break when eating them from the fridge. But thats because I just bite into them, rather than let them last longer

Shhhh · 24/01/2008 21:59

witch, spin classes are where the bike is stationary & you do exercises on the bike. You pedal like lightening, whilst doing presses in time to the music, then it slows away down so you're really pushing your legs around with the pedals (that's going uphill) then you put the tension down to you are sprinting (ie: your legs are going as fast as they can whilst my sis yells "this is fat buring ladies, go for it!!!")

She then gives us dumbells & whilst we pedal we do 24 reps of each arm... then arm curls etc.. then after that she makes us get off & do stretches, floor exercises, press-ups & stomach crunches.... god my arms are burning again just talking about it!! I can't believe I lost 4.5lb though... I really do credit the spin classes as I didn't do any other exercise.

Today's menu:

Breakfast: plum & banana in car on way to mum's.

Lunch: Ravioli, apple & grapes

Dinner: (Just there at 9.30 ) 2 slices of w/meal 400g bread(HEb), 2 slices bacon (HEb), tomatoes, lettuce & a tsp of light mayo (2.5syns)& an apple

Am craving some chocolate at the min though

peachespaige · 25/01/2008 08:02

Morning all. Shh it is frustrating I know. Ive been deducting 10 syns a week to make up for my Actimel or Yachult lite in the morning and its just dawned on me that they are probably free as they are very low fat yog??? The Actimel works out the same as a muller light. What do yu think, free or not? I hope so as thats an extra 10.5 syns a week.

peachespaige · 25/01/2008 09:35

SCRAP THAT!!!! WHY OH WHY IS ACTIMEL NO FAT 1.5 SYNS AND MULLER LIGHT FREE? THEY HAVE THE SAME CALORIE CONTENT, LESS PROTEIN, LESS CARBS AND SAME FAT AMOUNT AS MULLER LIGHT. CAN SOMEONE PLEASE EXPLAIN THIS STRANGENESS.

SWlurker · 25/01/2008 10:45

peaches - some things are weird like that. I think its something to do with mullerlights being in the size they are they'd fill you up, but you'd drink an actimel without it filling you up at all. Apart from that maybe its higher in Sugar?

I think this is all to do with why WW food is generally high in SW syns, too, they tend to use sugar in it and don't worry about how satisfying it is.

I don't understand how SW calculate these things.

peachespaige · 25/01/2008 11:16

Ohhhh Its soooo anoying |I had visions of myself surrounded by 10 after eight straws! Ho Hum. Im due af any day so mondays weigh in wont be pretty. i know how you feel Shhh i tend to lose a pound a week after my initial 3lb loss.

Fireflyfairy2 · 25/01/2008 12:13

Ds is having buttered pancakes... oh god I'm drooling at them... poor boy is eyeing me up incase I steal them!!!!

Shhhh · 25/01/2008 17:13

How's everyone doing today?

I am having sw chips for dinner, with steak (HEb), peas, onions & mushrooms & pepper sauce (about 3 syns) Also have some Angel Delight whisked up... there are 10syns in the packet, so between 4 of us it would be about 2.5syns

lurcherlass · 25/01/2008 20:35

The allbran cake is on the website called chocolate cake.
Its really easy....

Serves: 6
Syns per serving:
3½ Syns on Green and Original
Cooking time: 6 minutes
Preparation time: 15 minutes

100g All Bran cereal
250ml boiling water
2 eggs
6 heaped tsp of drinking chocolate
½ cup sweetener

  1. Pour the boiling water on to the All Bran in a large bowl and mix well.
  2. Add the eggs, drinking chocolate and sweetener and beat the mixture until all the ingredients are thoroughly combined.
  3. Put the mixture into a 6½ inch round plastic tub or other suitable microwaveable dish, smooth the top with a large spoon or flat knife, and microwave on high for 6 minutes.
  4. Turn the cake out on to a plate, cut into 6 slices and enjoy!
