Hi everyone. New thread as promised. A little later than planned but I'm blaming celebrating too much last night.
I wish I could say it was a good start but I'm feeding my hangover today so looks like I'm going to start tomorrow.
Is everyone feeling motivated?

Can someone post the recipe for the spring rolls chinese combo? sounnds delicious!

IM going to make some chick peas now i think for saturday night munching

zippychick · 19/01/2008 20:08

chick peas are on. I used fry light instead of olive oil, and didnt have some of those spices so used cumin seeds, chilli powder and cayenne . Ill see how they turn out !

andyrobo237 · 19/01/2008 20:12

We had sweet and sour 'chicken' and rice tonight - I say 'chicken' as it was actually quorn - and DH didnt even notice the difference - and said it was lovely! I said it was a SW recipe! It was the Knorr S&S sauce and it is a whopping 22 syns per jar - and we had a third each - that is 7 syns by my reckoning!!! It was good but not that good! Will have to try and make my own!

My consultant sent us a recipe for chilli corn bread - it is free on a green day and is good for a bread replacement with soup or to snack on. Well I made it and it was lovely - not dead yummy, but nice! It had chilli, red pepper, sweetcorn and spring onions, amongst other things! If anyone interested to try it I will do the recipe if you ask!

It is a pain on Monday as I have to go to get weighed as missed last week due to appt - but DD came in with special assembly letter for Monday - when I should be at class! So I have to take her to school, scoot to my mums (15 mins away) to drop off baby, go to class to get weighed at 9.30am (another 10 mins away), which then leaves 3/4 hour to get back to school (15 minsaway) - will be knsckered, but got to be done - oh then back to Mums for baby - ut is her birthday as well, so I can see cake being eaten!!

SWlurker · 19/01/2008 20:27

Hiya Just wanted to introduce myself as I have been lurking for some time! I'm a green days girl but struggling to lose every week (1 off, 1 on) so hopefully support from here will help!

thisisRialifebaby · 19/01/2008 21:04

cornbread recipe sounds good please andyrobo

Fireflyfairy2 · 19/01/2008 22:30

Welcome SWlurker Lurk no more

Springrolls & black bean beef was lovely!!! Don't make the same mistake I did though.. the recipe said beef fillet, so I went & bought beef fillet!! £8 for 1lb My dh asked why I didn't just buy beef pieces!! I never even thought...I just followed the recipe list

RECIPE SPRING ROLLS

1 carrot
2 celery sticks
half a red pepper
1 leek
1 red onion
1 red chilli
1cm of fresh root ginger
2 cloves of garlic
fry light
1-2 tbsp soy sauce
1 tsp sesame oil
handful of fresh coriander
4oz of beansprouts
6 sheets filo pastry & 1 egg white

METHOD

Cut all veg into matchsticks, de-seed & chop the chilli fry with the garlic & ginger until cooked but still crunchy.

Take from the heat, add soy sauce & sesame oil & drain in a colinder over a bowl. Chop coriander & add the beansprouts & leave to cool completely.

Brush the filo sheets with egg whites on the edges & fill them & roll them up.

Makes 6 spring rolls & they should serve 4 people, one & a half rolls per person. 4syns per roll on green & original days

They were absolutely delicious!!!!!

sugarlumps · 20/01/2008 12:25

hi everyone! had my night out last night, and it was all going so well, vodka and slimline tonic! vodka and diet coke! until me friend bought a PIZZA! lol im hoping the amount of dancing i did and taking the dog for a 3 mile walk at 4am this morning (seemed like a good idea at the time) will have cancelled out the pizza! hey ho onwards and upwards! well done to all of you that are sticking to the plan! im gonna try my best to from now on. might need some help!pmsl!

lurcherlass · 20/01/2008 14:06

I won't tell you what I had at the pub yesterday, but it was worth every syn Back on the plan today...We're having supper at our friends house tomorrow and they always cook a SW meal. We are making the pud. It's a SW thing, "choclate orange mousse cake".
Youre meant to make it with plain gelatin and orange juice, but we use sugar free jelly and orange juice. Some of the jelly sinks to underneath the mousse layer and it turns out like a giant jaffa-cake !! I'll post the recipe if anyone wants it.

lurcherlass · 20/01/2008 14:22

Forgot to say, 5 syns per serving either day..

Surfermum · 20/01/2008 19:23

Oh dear, I'm back . Got to target in May but had to start back last week as I was 1st 2lb over. Whoops.

Anyway my fabulous first week was 4lbs off. So far so good this week.

Does anyone know the password this week as I can't remember it?

Fireflyfairy2 · 20/01/2008 19:26

Mmmmmm LL, that sounds like a recipe I need!!!!!!

Glad you enjoyed your night out Sugar... I just pity the dog that had to get up for a walk in the middle of the night

Today has been good so far

Breakfast: Fruit

Dinner: Marinaded chicken breasts in lemon & garlic for a couple of hours in the fridge, then cooked in the oven. Served with roastie covered with garlic & rosemary! Yummmy!!

Tea: 2 slices w/meal bread with beans with mozerella cheese on top... & a huge mug of tea

Afters will ne a muller light with pineapple & grapes I bloody better have lost weight this week!!

Fireflyfairy2 · 20/01/2008 19:27

Hi Sm Check & see if onion still works! We got it last Wed night so should still be good til next Fri

Surfermum · 20/01/2008 19:49

Yep, onion works. Thanks FF .

lurcherlass · 20/01/2008 19:56

Here goes, specially for Firefly...
Choclate orange mousse cake
1 sponge flan case
1/4 pt orange juice without bits
6 tabs artificial sweetner
2 sachets orange sugar free jelly
8 level tabs drinking choc powder
3 egg whites (not for babies and preggie ladies)
an orange or a mini flake to decorate (guess which one I use)
Beg or borrow a 9ins loose bottomed cake tin. lay the base across the flan case. Cut round it, but DONT be tempted to eat the trimmings LOL. Put the circle of sponge into the bottom of the tin.
Gently heat the orange jiuce and sweetner in a pan. Remove from heat and add to jelly chrystals. Allow to disslove before adding seived choc powder. Whisk up the egg whites like they do on TV and fold into the other stuff.
Dollop all that onto the sponge base and chill. Decorate with crumbled flake and scoff. Rumoured to serve 8 people (not in our house) 5 syns a go. Dont fall into the trap that I did and use Options choc powder, it has to be drinking chocolate, like your Granny uses, the other stuff is too sweet and not choccie enough.I have also made just mousse, without the sponge. The jelly is 3 syns for 2 sachets and the drinking choc is 12 syns, juice 2.5... so grab 2 spoons and share with someone you love

kid · 20/01/2008 20:06

I'm still managing to stick to SW and will weigh in tomorrow. I feel like I am cheating though as I am having lots of goodies. I thought I had blown it this week, had 3 naughty meals over the space of a few days so I weighed in midweek and was surprised to see I had lost 2lb.
What the betting that tomorrow I have put that 2lb back on and am back to what I was last Monday.

Nevermind, I can live with a maintain, don't want to see any gains though.

Diege · 20/01/2008 22:17

Bloomin' eck SUGAR, I think the 4am start more than makes up for a bit of pizza KID, know what you mean about sneaking in the goodies...mine aren't 'goodies' as such, just being very flexible with what constitutes HEB (oven chips in a bun with with tommy sauce?? )and tipping over to 11-12 syns on top on all that being economical with the truth business. I blame the re-emergence of cream eggs in the shops personally - no longer do my 5 rich tea biscuits seem worthy enough, and I have to have one in my egg rack, even if I don't eat it that night!
Long day at work tomorrow, so have just made up two big sandwiches, cheese, spinach leaves and branston pickle (which I never count as having syns, ditto ketchup, worchester sauce etc..)Lots of fruit too, so fingers crossed that will be enough to prevent vending machine visit!
Good luck for next week everyone, and thanks to all who have posted recipes

zippychick · 20/01/2008 22:25

ive been on SW now from last tuesday i think. Before that i did the carol vorderman detox for two weeks, so this is heaven, theres no way i could have lost. Today ive had

Bfst - 3 pieces bacon & 2 rounds granary toast from 400 loaf with butter (1/2 for t spoon of flora light i think)

dinner - grilled cod, fried egg , and 220g of potato made into spicy wedges - like chips only thicker, with ground chilli to spice them. It was grogeous

Now im sitting with 2 hovis digestives - which the syns calculator says are 2 syns each (so thats 4) , with my HEa cheese - 28g of crackerbarrel, 3 after eight sticks (4 syns) . SO 4 digestive, 4 chocolate, and 1 butter, thats 9. i was out walking today so feel i have earned my full syns for the day so i might have a packet of french fries - 4.5 so thats 13.5! Im hoping ive got a loss this week. Ill tot up the exercise ive been doing

from monday

cycled 12 miles - 30min for 2 miles
walked 4.5 hours - usually 15 mins a mile, so thats 18 miles jesus!
yoga - 20 mins
8 min abs - once

so i might not have lost cause of the amount of exercise but im definitely getting smaller. im fitting into stuff i havent done in a long time. I went out on friday night with slim fitting jeans on as opposed to my mens 36 waist slouchy baggy hide everything jeans. Im sure they would be big on me now. My friend asked were my "skinny "jeans new. Theyre size 16 but skinny fit.

im at 13st 4, 5 ft 6, and am due to get weighed again on tuesday. i dont own a pair of scales. ONly food ones!

zippychick · 20/01/2008 22:33

Yesterday i had cheese and ham omellet for bkfst - 3 eggs, with HE cheese, dinner was a toasty with 2 400g bread and ham and cheese. 60g of honeycomb ice cream - 7 syns - well not sure about flavoured, and half a mini snickers - 2.5, french frie s- 4.5 . i sat having a feast in bed. IN between dinner and omelette i had the spicy chick pease i put the recipe up for and they were devine! i would eat 3 meals a day when at work but weekends are brunch and dinner. and i dont eat bread during the week either.

Tomos lunch is chopped peppers, baby toms, onion, sprin onion, sweetcorn, mange tout, and cucumber all mixed up with black pepper and lemon juice. Tub of melon, and a tub of blueberries and grapes and a muller light. WIll i have time to work with all this eating? Dinner ill have fish again with maybe beans and chips - my first green day in ages so i can pile up on chips and beans! and maybe an egg too.

finn cripsbread are nice, 7 are a HE - i can find out the exact name if anyone wants. Theyre rectangular shaped so not massive, but when you have seven with laughing cow cheese and ham its gorgeous. I just love food. Anyone else worry they cant loose when they eat this much? this much "normal" food!

Fireflyfairy2 · 20/01/2008 22:53

Oh zippy.. I would love a choccy digestive.. pity I have none in the house!!

Thanks LL for that recipe.. dh & dd will make that soon They do the cookin', I do the eatin'

Have a really busy day ahead of me tomorrow & I don't know what food plans will end up like.

I have to go to uni after I drop the kids' to playgroup & school, then I have to find a car wash to do an MOT wash, then get home in time to pick ds up at 12. Between 12 & 2 I will need to grab lunch, get a new tyre on the car & drop papers at the accountants. At 2 I will pick up dd & then we have to head to my sister's house 60 miles away to drop off something I forgot to give her today when we visited!!!!! Then drive all the way home again by 5pm so the garage man can out new indicator lights in the car & take it to the MOT centre by 7pm!!

Jeez... maybe I'll survive on fresh air tomorrow

zippychick · 20/01/2008 23:00

you could make some pasta in your lunch and take a little extra in a tub with you on yuour travels . I know with me, i cant put myself in the situation to break the rules. if i have food with me , it seems silly to go buy a fat sandwich, and less tempting. tricking the brain is important for me! ;)

the digestives at two each arent chocolate . But now you ve made me want a chocolate one!

Fireflyfairy2 · 20/01/2008 23:14

See, I wouldn't even bother buying a sandwich either.. I would just starve, then when I got home would open a tube of fruit pastilles of something!!!

I might not be long at uni in the morning, so may have time to peel potatoes & turnip for dinner later, so at least I know I have that to look forward to.. may buy some gammon or bacon & have turnip, potato & bacon?

zippychick · 21/01/2008 00:36

mashed potatoes, with a spoon of flora light, bacon chopped up through, and spring onions, wack of veg and loads of gravy ! mmmmm!

Diege · 21/01/2008 11:10

Stop you lot you're making me sooo HUNGRY!!! Now I NEED a chocolate digestive (packet of), some lovely chilli-spiced potato wedges and laughing cow on crisp breads..... mmmmmmm!!!! Seriously though ZIPPY your food suggestions are brilliant, v. inspriational. Keep them coming!
Well breakfast today was egg and beans. Have had banana on train to work, so looking forward to lunch which is cheese (HE), spinach and pickle sandwiches (HEBs). Also have fruit, but just hoping I can spread it all out until I get home at 7! I've defrosted chicken breast for tonight, but realise I've used up all my HEs (green day)so may have to syn them (what a waste of syns when I have a cream egg to 'budget' for!). Any one got any idea what a portion of chicken syns up to on a green day? (is it 6?)
Speak later,
diege x

SWlurker · 21/01/2008 11:40

Thanks for the welcome. I've just had my lunch at 11am today, (quorn sausages and baked beans) as was SO hungry, will I be able to live without a second lunch?? doubtfull, might buy a tin of spaghetti just in case

Hmm do you think if you don't do your usual exercise one week you will put on? I have been going to 2 gym classes per week but haven't been able to go at all this week but then again I did go for a long walk on sunday so you never know.

Does anyone else have regular meetings at work where they cater for you? I do, and its so hard to find SW friendly things, and I'm usually far to hungry to ignore the baaad choices they put in front of you

annoyed at myself this week as have used 59 syns in 4 days, so have 11 to last me til weds night now. Some of the syns were on stupid things, like not being prepared and forgetting how many HE's I had had.

(sulks off again)
