Do you go to class ?
How long have you been doing it & how much have you lost ?

I am on my second week (weigh-in tomorrow). I go to a weigh and go class in the city in my lunch hour and have lost 8lbs so far. I miss going to an actual class though so am looking for some support on here.

Well done Emkana. Yes, there is a new diet in the NY, but they won't say anything.

Hi ww gang..
am in dire straites.. have weigh in tomorrow and know in my heart that i'll be up..
Just had one of those weeks where i all but ate the leg off the chair!!
and know its inevitable that im up!!
Shock also have an exam tomorrow and am nervous about it.. when im anxious i eat.. so thats not helping.. Should i give the weigh in a miss?
or bite the bullet and face the music?
What would you do?? anyone??

Do the weigh-in, at least you'll know where you stand. Otherwise there a much higher chance that you'll keep eating too much next week too. It's not the end of the world if you have put on weight, I doubt there's a single successful WeightWatcher who didn't put on weight several times while on the programme.

It's not good that you are still triggered to eat by anxiety, but exams are quite infrequent (I hope) so you will be able to get back into a good routine once it's past. Perhaps, when you're a bit calmer, you can check out other methods of controlling stress (although I have to admit they are all a lot less fun than eating).

Good luck.

someone told me that diet coke has no points - is this true? i hope so as although i hate the stuff, i have been drinking gallons, and then my mum said to me last night that she doesnt think it is point-free!!

did you do the weigh in LinnyNollaig? hope your exam went well, and also the weigh in! I havent weighed myself for over a week now as I am scared as to what my scales will tell me - maybe i will do it now....or maybe wait til tomorrow.....!!

yep 0 points. all diet drinks and sugar free squash is 0 points

Report
littlemel · 08/12/2004 20:53

thanks champs. how bizarre - do you think if you worked out the values they would actually have points in them, and they say they are free so that we dont stop drinking all together? or is that a really stupid thing of me to say?!!!!

OhComeLetUsADiorHim · 08/12/2004 20:57

No, points are worked out on the amount of calories and saturated fat per serving. So, as Diet Coke has 1 calorie and no fat per serving, there would not be any points.

If you don't like Diet drinks, drink chilled water. After all, it is better for your body, as my WW leader keeps telling me. Unfortunately, I do like diet coke, and am a bit addicted to it. I have a struggle making myself drink 4 cups of water a day, let alone 8.

Well done linnyNollaig.

I lost 1 and a half pounds at weigh in today so am very happy. Still got half a pound till my first stone - but should (hopefully) do that next week.

I lost a pound, and am 0.5 lbs off my 2 stones...so I have to do it next week, as it is the last weigh-in before Xmas.

Tonight, I cooked the Teriyaki Beef Noodles, from the 'Time To Eat' cookbook. It was lovely. Last week, I made the Chicken and Vegetable Curry, from the same book, and that was delicious too. I am soooo glad I invested in that book, and I never thought I would ever say anything like that! And, no, I don't work for WW Grin

right OhComeLetUsADiorHim, we both have to lose a half pound next week.

I keep looking in my time to eat cook book but haven't made anything yet. i really must as it looks gorgeous and am getting bored of same stuff all the time. It's just organising myself with a shopping list.

KaySleighBells - you must use it if you have it! I can thoroughly recommend the following:

Chicken and Mushroom Risotto (p55...a favourite!!!)

Cajun Sausagemeat Patties with Mango Salsa

Chicken and Vegetable Curry (2.5 points per serving!!)

Lasagne

Chinese Chicken Parcels (again, 2.5 points)

Teriyaki Beef Noodles

Give 'em a whirl.

Not sure about weight loss this week, as I am out for a girls' meal on Saturday night, and out for lunch with dh on Sunday. Will try to have a jp and beans on Sunday, if we go to a pub. Also, I have chosen soup for starter and sorbet for pudding on Saturday night. Hopefully I can still manage to lose 0.5 lbs.

Good luck for you too.

I do like the look of the risotto might try that next week. Have just been through the book with dh and have settled on blue cheese chicken for tomorrow night. Will let you know how it goes !

Thanks for the advice re diet drinks OhComeLetUsADiorHim - I know what you mean about struggling to drink so many glasses of water, it has no taste so why would anyone want to drink the stuff?!!

well done to LinnyNollaig, KaySleighbells, OhComeLetUsADiorHim and MariNativityPlay for your weight losses.

I weighed myself finally and have lost 12lbs so far in 5 weeks, so only another 2lbs to go and have lost a stone - then only another 2 stone left to shift.............at least I am making progress!! Juat not looking forward to xmas as I am not dieting on xmas eve/day/boxing day/ny eve so bound to put on, but i am not going to let a diet ruin my xmas (i LOVE food too much and have no will power!)

First weigh in yesterday, I lost 4.5lbs and was starving all week. My friend lost 3.5lb and she partied all week. Where's the justice in the world?

Report
littlemel · 11/12/2004 21:17

well done SecondHandRose, thats a great loss!

I have yet another question I'm afraid...........

I am confused - I made some pasta tonight and looked in my (ancient) shopping guide to see the points - it said that 60g of dried pasta is 3 points, and 225g of cooked past is 3 points. So I weighed 120g of dried pasta (so 6 points according to the book) and cooked it. then I weighed it after I had cooked it, and it weighed 200g - so according to the cooked past points, that would be just under 3 points, not 6 - so how many points worth of pasta did i eat?!! Can anyone help?? I hope that all makes sense?!! Grin

Report
linnyNollaig · 12/12/2004 12:26

littlemel.. count it dry weight.. so you've had 6pts pf pasta.. easier just to stick with dry weight when measuring food(and far less messy)

So whats the general feel about weight watchin over xmas then girls?
personally, im gonna pig out!!
Face the music in Jan
ah i've so many parties and stuff to go to..
So who's gonna stick with the programme and who's gonna be a pig like me????Grin Wink

hey well done secondhandrose - that is fab. I guess the best you can do is not think about your friends loss. She may well find that next week if she carries on she can't shift any.

I am really going to try and be good over the xmas period. i don't want to ruin all the hard work I've put in over the last few weeks.

(someone point me to this post when i'm complaining how bad i've been in three weeks time!!)

LittleMel - 60g dry weight of pasta equates to 150g of cooked pasta, not 225g. Maybe it was a misprint?

KaySleighBells - I have made the Blue Cheese Chicken too. I found it to be a dish that is filling for 4 points, and looks very cheffy (IYKWIM) for very little effort. Not a big fan of blue cheese though. I am going to make the sticky pork kebabs tomorrow night, and will let you know how they turned out. I can also recommend the Blue Cheese Gratin (broccoli and new potatoes), although I use 1oz of breadcrumbs and 40g of low-fat cheese instead of the 1 tblsp oil and 0.5 oz of breadcrumbs (same points, and tastier). Next time I make it, I am going to use mature chedder low-fat cheese instead of the blue cheese.

Forgot to say that I had a non-diet weekend, and I am dreading Thursday's weigh-in. I went out for a meal with the girls last night, and drank a few glasses of red wine and a Baileys. Then, today, dh and I went to a pub for lunch. I had expected to be able to order a JP and beans, but the best option was a roast dinner. So, I picked pork rather than beef or lamb, and gave dh one third of my meat. Then, this evening, we were at PILs, and MIL had made spag bol. I had a small bowlful, and a banana. Came home and had a pack of Snack-a-Jacks, and am not sated. So, I hope I will not gain weight Sad
