Do you go to class ?
How long have you been doing it & how much have you lost ?

I am on my second week (weigh-in tomorrow). I go to a weigh and go class in the city in my lunch hour and have lost 8lbs so far. I miss going to an actual class though so am looking for some support on here.

Another starving day in this house, really trying to keep busy to stop stuffing. Have had a tin of WW soup, porridge and Healthy Eating Fajitas. Going on hols soon and have been getting my summer gear out and it's all tight round the waist. Two weeks to go to get into them.

Keep going everyone, our leader said to have a bowl of soup early evening if you are eating out later on to stop you really pigging out.

Still looking for the zero point mushroom pate recipe.

I'm dreading Christmas. How many points in small serving of Xmas pud? (Will I be able to restrict myself to ONE SMALL serving???? Sad. Having said this, I'll probably be too full from dinner but then there are all those leftovers. Roast potatoes? Stuffing? Gravy? Maybe I'll sit down to some turkey breast and at least 20 brussel sprouts and look superior as everyone else stuffs themselves. Probably not, though. Any advice?

i think your right OhComeLetUsAdoreHim it must eb a misprint - i couldnt understand it, so thanks for clearing that up for me!

does anyone else find that they start off with good intentions to just have one piece of cake or something when they go out and then end up eating the whole bloody cake like i did last night at my mums? i think the trick about eating soup before you go out is a good one in theory, but unless i eat no point soup which i never have time to make - i would end up eating more points that way as i'd have the soup but ehn a few hours later i would be starving and eat just as much as i would have if i hadnt eaten any soup. i really am rubbish at diets. i have NO willpower whatsover

on a happier note though i have lost another pound since saturday - but it'll prob even itself out when i weigh myself for the week!!

Hi

I am new to Mumsnet - and have also recently started doing the weight watchers program - although I havent been going to classes.

I am finding the diet fairly easy to stick to - but my biggest downfall is sweets and chocolate! I really love my food, and the smaller portions of everything is taking some getting used to!

I started the diet 6 weeks ago, and have lost 13lbs so far - so I am hoping to lose at least a lb this week so I have lost my first stone! Then Idealli i would like to lose at least another stone and a half!

Hi again fairycakes, we met on your Member Details thread !

I started around the same time as you and have lost 13 and a half pounds so far. Am desperate to lose that half pound this week but am getting weighed tomorrow and have a xmas meal out tonight at a chinese restauarant. Have been given advice on another thread about what to eat. It's just whether I can stick to it with all that temptation around .

What day do you do your weigh-in ?

I made the sticky pork kebabs from the Time To Eat cookbook last night. Really lovely.

i think it is relaly hard to stay motivated, especially at this time of year, when there are so many nice foods around in the shops and restaurants etc to tempt us - and of course all those xmas get-togethers! i think the way i have been doing it is, that if i go over on the points one day-try not to think, oh well i may as well be bad for the rest of the week, just take each day as a new start. I dont think that realistically anyone can expect to have a loss over xmas - why deprieve yourslef, it only happens once a year!!

OhComeLetUsADiorHim · 14/12/2004 21:51

Fairycakes - I lost weight last year (OK, only half a pound, but it was still a loss). I didn't deprive myself at all, but I did not stuff myself. I ate a fairly large amount on Boxing Day, and we had people over for pizza and garlic bread one night. The rest of the days, I stuck to my diet, and I did not feel at all deprived. It's all in the frame of mind. If you go into it thinking you are going to leave the diet at the door on Christmas Day, you will go mad just because you have allowed yourself to. The thing is to eat what you really fancy, and not to have it unless you are sure you really want it.

this is my 4th time doing ww, first time was for my wedding 2 yrs ago, lost 1.5st,
after the wedding got very relaxed about the whole ting and put it up again!!
so i rejoined and did really well.. was lighter than id been in years, summer 2003...
Then got pg with ds.. put up 3 stones!!!
rejoined again in july but only lasted 2 weeks, rejoined AGAIN in nov and as i said i've lost 11.5 lbs so far,,,
Am i doomed to failure with such a track record??

OhComeLetUsADiorHim · 14/12/2004 21:58

No, you don't know my track recored. I say, forget the past and concemtrate on how you feel now. Good luck.

linnynollaig - i dont think your doomed to fail at all, afterall, you've had a brilliant weight loss so far! maybe the fact that this is your fourth time may make you more determined?

i did ww 2 years ago and lost 3 stone in a year - i had 1lb left til my goal and discovered i was pregnant - i subsequently managed to put on 4 and a half stone whilst preg! not fair is it.....

OhComeLetUsADiorHim - LOL - when i first read your post, i thought you meant that in a whole year you had only lost 1/2 lb!! thats good to know though, and thanks for the good advice!

hello, just found this thread. Have been doing ww by myself at home sice stopping feeding a few weeks ago. (Did ww a few years ago and lost 3.5 stone) I have lost about 6 lbs already and want to lose @4 more, not much I know but I'm hoping it will stay off and I want to be more toned.

I noticed some questions in the thread which I can answer, I have a weightwatcher pedometer and generally I have to do 7500 steps a day to be 'healthy'. There after, every 2500 steps will get me a point. Might be of use if you have a pedometer which just shows steps.

Also, if you don't have a points calculator, you can work out the points by dividing the calories by 70 dividing the saturated fat by 4 and adding the two together. So say something is 210 calories, that's 3 points and 6grms saturated fat, that's 1.5 points, so together it's 4.5 points. Although you might need a calculator!

Long post, sorry

Fairy Cakes - no probs! I did well last year at Xmas, but hit a blip at Easter, when I tried to come off my ADs...hence the 3.5 stone loss needed

Pootle - thanks for the hints and tips

good evening - does anyone know the answer to this question....... is there a limit to how many points you can save in a day? and how long are they "valid" for?! thanks!!

Report
OhComeLetUsADiorHim · 15/12/2004 21:00

You can earn 12 edible bonus points a week, and can carry 4 over a day to save up for a meal at the weekend etc. Any unused get lost after weigh-in. Any bonus points earned (over the 12 you can eat) have to be considered as doing you good!

Report
OhComeLetUsADiorHim · 15/12/2004 21:01

Sorry, meant to say 'carry 4 over a day, up to a maximum of 12'

Report
fairycakes · 16/12/2004 11:03

thanks OhComeLetUsADiorHim - i was hoping it was more than that! But i suippose if I have saved 12, which i have done already, i could just not eat anything all day onsaturday until we go out then i will have 32 points for my meal - although im quite sure i will eat/drink more than that!

well, I have fallen of the proverbial wagon big time, one bad day lead to another and so on. I am totally disgusted with myself - I paid £40 to do this on line and was getting loads of support but just gave up. It is a bad time of year but you are all doing so well and I am so .

Report
fairycakes · 16/12/2004 14:06

try no to get down about it hollybet - its hard and everyone has times when they just dont bother, if you are determined to lose weight, just start again and forget about the bad time you had, im sure you can do just as well as everyone else - and dont punish yourslef at christmas, it has to be the HARDEST time ever of the year to even stay the same weight, let alone lose any!! x

I've just logged on to WW in attempt number two billion and 8 to count points and found it's all changed - I knew it was happening in the New Year, I didn't realise they'd already done it. I'm now trying to get my head round this "NoCount" thing - bit of a change from points, reminds me a bit of SW.
