Following on from January Thread 1

HAPPY NEW YEAR 2022 🍾 🎊 🎉 🍾

Fresh new year, fresh new start, fresh new habits. Jump right in to reset & refresh to become a healthier version of yourself.

As no one size fits all, members need to follow their own way of eating. This thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

We generally have WOW (weigh on Wednesday) day each week. However post and share your progress as often or as little as you prefer. Do what works for you.

The important thing is not to think of it as a diet (based on deprivation and unsustainable) but more a way of life (sustainable & enjoyable).

I calorie count based on a lower carb Mediterranean diet. I intermittent fasting and eat twice a day.

Are you in😊 What food plan will you be following? What do you want to change and why?

I’ll join you on this one!
Started second week of Jan at 10st 7 and currently 10st 3.
Counting calories on MFP, basically going cold turkey on snacks, working well so far. Would like to lose around 10lbs before my holiday at Easter.

Crazzzycat · 18/01/2022 09:57

Perfect timing for a new thread TheRealHousewife. I can pretend the last few weeks of constant snacking never happened 😂

My plan for the rest of this month is to calorie count, but more importantly to make sure that at least 90% of what goes into my mouth is actually healthy for me. I haven’t done so well on that so far, but today is another day and another chance to try again!

Exercise is another big part of my plan and I’m trying to do 2022 km this year, using a combination of walking, cycling, rowing and x-trainer. At the start of the year I thought that goal might be a little too ambitious, but I’m currently on track to hit 200 km this month 💪

Good luck everyone!

ginsparkles · 18/01/2022 10:59

Morning all, thanks @TheRealHousewife for the new thread.

Spoke to my Dad's partner last night and have a plan of action so feeling more positive again.

I managed to avoid the chocolate yesterday so came in comfortably under my calories for the day.

Plan for today :
Meal 1 salad with sweet chilli noodles and ham, yogurt and a banana
Meal 2 - sweet potato and chicken tray bake

Have an apple go ahead bar for a snack.

Have a lovely day all, I'm sitting freezing in our shop as we have opened the door again and it is brrrrrrr out there!!!

Catrice · 18/01/2022 11:42

Can I join? I've been eating a pack of 4 4 finger kitkats everyday since January 1st! I don't want to weigh as find I become obsessive so my plan is to cut out alcohol, biscuits etc and eat to achieve a healthy and energised body with plenty of good for the gut foods. Am interested in the Mediterranean diet as well but not too sure what foods are allowed/not allowed?

yellowspot · 18/01/2022 12:56

Can I join please 😊

Started on 4th January weighing 12st7lb. Weighing in today at 12 stone exactly. Calorie counting and just trying to move a little bit more. Feel very stuck with meals, like I'm cooking the same things over and over which I know will impact my willpower Long term so need to try and switch it up abit!

MyAnacondaMight · 18/01/2022 13:08

Wow, an entire thread filled up in January! Well done everyone for all the enthusiasm and hard work.

I’m having a rough time at the moment so not focusing on weight loss. But weighed this morning and was happy to be back at my pre Christmas weight of 10st 9. I’m also back on track with C25K, so going to see how I go with general restrained eating and exercise.

I’d like to end January at 10’7 or lower, but not putting pressure on myself - just want the scales to be going down rather than up.

ImALittlePea · 18/01/2022 14:03

Checking in ☺️

Youdoyoutoday · 18/01/2022 15:08

@Crazzzycat im with you!

The real new year starts now as I've been so off my game the past couple of weeks! Bad habits crept in over xmas but I need to banish those now!

5 months from today is my wedding Shock so I need to wobble way less than I do now!!

Youdoyoutoday · 18/01/2022 15:12

@Catrice and @yellowspot welcome!

I have the fast 800 recipe books, I dont follow the 800 calories a day but the recipes are great and easy to follow because they have all the calories worked out for you.

I also use www.easypeasyfoodie.com/ as they have a sections for dinners under 600, 500 and 400 calories and again, all the calories are worked out for you.

good luck x

twinkydink · 18/01/2022 16:09

I lost track of 5he last thread as it moves so fast!

Im doing intermittent fasting currently on 18:6 and finding it enjoyable so far. I am counting calories too just to give me some more accountability.

Starting weight on Jan 1st was 13st 9
Current weight 13st 1.6

Still doing a bit more snacking than I would like so need to try and reign that in a bit!

Good luck to everyone just starting

TheRealHousewife · 18/01/2022 16:35

I’ll post this on here too … For those interested in nutrition and exercise/sport performance there is an interesting watch on Netflix- The Game Changers. Don’t let the first 10 minutes put you off. The programme is interesting and thought provoking in equal measure. There is a The Game Changer website that has some tasty recipes on too. Not necessarily low calorie 😈

Hello all 👋🏻

I've been posting on the other thread today as there's a bit of space left I think...welcome to all the newbies & thanks again @TheRealHousewife for getting a new thread going 👍🏻

I’m watching it now @TheRealHousewife 👀
Thanks for the tip!

TheRealHousewife · 18/01/2022 18:38

@Crazzzycat It made me think 🤔 , very thought provoking. My diet has evolved over time and I’m more veggie than anything (not meal 2 today). I’m seriously thinking of swapping butter out. Cheese I really love so can’t imagine stopping that but will aim for less.

swampytiggaa · 18/01/2022 18:51

Hi everyone! I weigh daily (mostly) but post my weight on Wednesdays 😊

Doing IF to cut out evening snacking 😂😂 which has been successful… weight up slightly this morning but then I realised that my veg intake has been a bit rubbish recently and I really need a 💩 so I’ve eaten more today plus drinking more water to get everything moving!

Just changed job role and I’ve been doing a lot of afternoon/evening shifts so I haven’t been eating well. My hours will settle in a couple of weeks tho when we aren’t so short staffed.

Raspberry12 · 18/01/2022 20:38

Wow! Thread 2 already :)

My meals are same, same today. Low carb, lots of veg, berries, pistachios and a piece of chocolate as always 😁

17k step count and I did this super tough yoga session which looks deceptively easy but wow, it was intense… I think it will help towards my muffin top busting with all the core work. In case anyone else wants to try 20 mins of agony 😆 m.youtube.com/watch?v=dWpplJRh4xw

@TheRealHousewife is butter bad? I can live without cheese but not butter 🙈

DontWantTheRivalry · 18/01/2022 20:41

Feeling so deflated.

For the last two weeks I’ve probably cut down my calorie intake by about 50% and I haven’t had any chocolate or biscuits or snacks etc (which are always my comfort foods) and I’ve still only lost 1 pound.

One pound in 2 weeks.

That’s pretty crap isn’t it Sad

Raspberry12 · 18/01/2022 20:41

Hi @yellowspot I know what you mean about getting bored of the same meals. That’s also how I feel right now… I think I might try and make a Thai green curry paste at weekend and make some curries with it next week :)

Crazzzycat · 18/01/2022 20:50

It’s a really interesting film @TheRealHousewife. I’ve been vegetarian all my life and consume very little dairy. I’ve often wondered if that might be holding me back when it comes to getting fitter and healthier, but it looks like I don’t have to worry about that.

It was interesting what they were saying about carbs too. I have been told many times on some of the weightloss threads (not these monthly ones) that it’d be impossible for me to lose weight on the amount of carbohydrates I eat. I just feel like there’s such an anti-carb, pro-protein bias on some threads, so it was interesting to hear this different perspective.

I’m not having a go at anyone who is trying to lose weight like that by the way. If it works for you, that’s fab, but there is clearly more than one way to do this.

Sorry you’re feeling that way. Have you actually counted your calories or are you just guessing? Might be worth logging everything for the next few weeks to see how many you’re actually eating. Try not to give up though, regardless of what the scales say, you’ve had a healthier few weeks, it can only be a good thing, and you might find a bigger loss next week.
Raspberry12 · 18/01/2022 21:10

@DontWantTheRivalry I also went through this a few weeks ago… I felt like I was stuck at the same place for ages! I made some changes to my diet and activity levels back in September, I lost some weight and then felt the stuck at the end of November and all of December. I’m now losing it again so it was maybe just a plateau - which I think is all part of the process. Keep going and you’ll see some change soon 💪🏼

marmilade92 · 18/01/2022 23:24

I've been quite hungry today and I don't know why, I've been trying to drink more but it hasn't helped. I was so hungry for dinner tonight, I felt physically hollow inside and my stomach was sore despite sticking with the plan. I'm sitting here still hungry thinking about all the things I'd eat if I could get away with it. What do you do when you're hungry at night? Just go to bed?

2022weightlossusername · 19/01/2022 07:20

Thanks for the new thread OP. I’ve been here since start of Jan but haven’t managed to post much.

According to my scales I’m 5lbs down this week … meaning 8lbs in two weeks and I am now only 1lb away from my March mini goal of 9lbs. I can’t quite believe it! I actually see a difference in myself though so it must be true. Will prepare myself for them to jump up a bit next week just to be on the safe side.

Good luck to all the weighers today!!!

ginsparkles · 19/01/2022 07:22

Good morning all.

@marmilade92 .... when I'm hungry in the evening I tend to have a drink first, then clean my teeth and then go to bed. Which is fine as long as it's not like 8 o'clock

Weigh in Wednesday

Weigh in loss 2lbs
SW 12 stone 6
CW 11 stone 11
Total 9lb

Happy with this weeks loss, it's all heading the right way, and haven't managed to get to the gym or on a good walk this week either.

So todays plan :
Lunch ham and sweet chilli noodle salad, yogurt and a cereal bar
Dinner salmon, new potatoes, peas and broccoli.

Hope everyone else's weigh in goes well!

Same here! I was almost too embarrassed to post. I'm keeping carbs and unhealthy snacking to a minimum but clearly not minimal enough. I'll try a bit harder this week! Lots of healthy and nice things in the fridge!
