2022 has GOT to be the year I get on track and stop yo-yoing! Who's with me

Started 2021 at 15st 1lb! Lost weight, put some on, lost some, put some back on. Weighed myself today and I'm 15st 2 again!!!! Back to square one! In 5"2 and now back up to a size 16. I feel unhealthy and unattractive but really struggle with the impulse to binge eat, especially when I am stressed or tired. Before having children I lost 8 stone, weighed 10 stone and wore a size 10 so I know I can do it. Just need to stay motivated. I am going to restart with my fitness Pal and try and walk 10000 everyday. Really don't want to be writing the same thing this time next year!

@WitchDancer

I've got a cupboard full of clothes too, but they're not going anywhere. They're properly bagged into sizes and I can't wait to slim down into them. Plus I can't afford to replace them right now.

Today has been ok sort of. We're still working our way through Christmas snacks, which we bought in case we got locked down. I haven't gone overboard and stuffed down the usual plate full like I would have done in times past.

I've also been doing my crochet to keep my hands busy too.

How's everyone else got on today?

Very organised! And well done for being restrained with the Christmas snack 😊 So far so good I'm on day 3 of being mindful and have stuck to my goals so far. Do think it's easier at the moment because I'm not at work and therefore not as tired but a good start. Me and dh have spent the evening playing board games which has been a nice change from TV and snacks.

Good planning there @WitchDancer - I remember reading in the Idiot Proof Diet about going through your wardrobe ruthlessly and packing away anything you don't wear, so you can see exactly how limited your choices are. With me it would literally be about 5 tops and 2 pairs of trousers Blush

The Christmas snacking will stop soon... I've already packed away the Baileys and will hide the chocolate from myself the DC soon too. Menu planning will follow shortly!

WitchDancer · 01/01/2022 22:26

DumpyDump, that sounds like a lovely evening.

Clara, 5 tops and 2 trousers is enough isn't it?

Forricks · 01/01/2022 23:25

Well my day didn't go according to plan as dh got the hump when I said I'd have salad instead of mash for the bangers and mash dinner he was cooking. Considering how much effort goes into mash I decided to start on Monday as that will give a chance to get rid of the leftover chocolates too - plus keeps him sweet so I don't have to cook!

I did however sit down and carve out a plan for when I'm going to fit in exercise. Feeling confident.

I need to join you. I've just weighed myself and an 11st6, the same weight as I was last NYD and in 2020. In both years, I've got down for 10st5 and then gone up again. Last year, I went down to 10st13 by the end of Jan, plateaued for a couple of months (cos I was being lazy) and then got down to 10st5 by May ... only for it to start creeping on again almost immediately.
Plan for this year is below 11st by the end of this month and then lose another half stone by mid-March which would get me to the very top of a healthy BMI. I then really want this to be the year I get below 10st.
A supermarket delivery of vegetables is about to arrive!

This is exactly what I did!!! Lost over 2 stone by April last year and then instead of staying on track just put it all back on and ended up at the same point! I'm so frustrated with myself and really hope I don't make the same mistake this year! Good luck with it all and enjoy your veggies x

@Dumpydump I'm glad I'm not the only one like this. As soon as I get to the mid-10 stone range, I begin to get into my nice clothes which seems to trigger me into thinking "oh, I'm thin now. Let's eat lots to celebrate this".
Good day today. 1100 calories eaten, 2l water drunk and only one coffee, exercise done, yoga done, face cleansed.

Dumpydump · 03/01/2022 22:11

Well 5 days in and have lost 4lbs and pretty much stuck to plan 😊 back to work and the daily grind tomorrow😭 hoping to stick with it when life gets more chaotic again. Must find ways to provide self care without running to the chocolate and TV 🍫🤣 hope everyone is doing okay? X

Yep, I am exactly the same 🤣 as soon as I feel "skinny" I lose the motivation needed to be mindful and fool myself into thinking I can get away with it!! Then the pattern repeats itself!! Sounds like you are doing really well 😊

Monday's always a good place to start and you can't beat a nice bit of mash 😊 glad you are feeling confident and that you've got a plan of action x

Must admit I haven't yet started, with the DC still off school and DP not back at work Blush hoping to do a run tomorrow morning though before I go back to work - maybe that will be the kick I need!!

No need for any embarrassment, we've all been there 😊 I certainly have!!! New term, new start sounds like a good plan 👍 hope your run goes well (I can't even jog for 2 mins let alone run so fair play!!)

Thanks @Dumpydump, I just need a good start and then (hopefully) I'll be off... I'm still thinking about (re!)joining WW, even if just to give me a framework for menu plans. DP had a mega moan today about wanting to lose weight, but when I asked him how he wanted to do it - low carb/ low fat/ low calorie etc - he just had no idea and moaned some more. I didn't point out that he'd do better if he actually did a bit more exercise instead of parking himself on the sofa all the time but it was very tempting...

Forricks · 04/01/2022 07:42

My plan has gone a bit wonky as dd has tested positive for covid - I've never felt so torn between being sensible and giving her the cuddles that she needs ( she's not poorly but is heart broken we can't be close) So no school runs for me or the bikes rides I had planned. Will need to be strict on the calories side now as stuck at home with dd.

Plus side I now have time to clear and clean the house! Grin

batmanladybird · 04/01/2022 07:42

Kids go back today. I was doing well before Xmas with no sugar and no diary but fell off during "fuckitxmas" aka December
My health is full of niggles j am sure would be hugely helped by losing a good two stone preferably 3

WitchDancer · 04/01/2022 09:12

I had a bad day yesterday, but today is a new day. It's going to be a busy one as January is the busiest month of the year at work. We also go back to Scouting tonight, which should be a fine way of ensuring I'm active!

Oh no! I'm so sorry to hear this 😢 hope you all manage okay and get back to normal as soon as you can 🤗

@batmanladybird and @WitchDancer back to school/end of Christmas definitely a good place to start fresh. It's pretty much impossible not to think "fuck it" in December 🤣

I'm another one who finds it easier to stick to better eating when I'm more in a routine.
I'm having a fairly healthy week so far although this is involving a thin slice of Xmas cake each day. Another few days and it will all be gone. I do love Xmas cake.

ClaraTheImpossibleGirl · 05/01/2022 22:45

@dynamitegirl I love Xmas cake too Grin probably too much

Your poor DD @Forricks! I hope she's feeling ok and that isolation isn't too hard on everyone Flowers

I'm still full of cold and sneezes (not Covid, or at least so my LFTs tell me!) but am planning to start with the healthy eating and exercise soon so as not to undo all my good work last year... DP is still telling me that he wants to go back to the gym as part of his weight loss effort, the DC are back at school tomorrow and he's off work, we'll see if he actually makes it there!!

Dumpydump · 06/01/2022 07:07

Started on a Thurs so Thurs is my official weigh in day (although can't help checking daily!!)

Thurs 30th Dec:15st 2lb
Thurs 6th Jan: 14st 9lb

7lbs off so far!!! Really pleased 😁 realise it will probably slow down but still nice to have a good loss to get me going 👍

@ClaraTheImpossibleGirl sorry you're still feeling poorly, hope you are better soon. Good luck with going back to school etc and with the husband!😉 (I just have to ignore what mine is doing and focus on myself 🤣)

I have a stone to lose for my 5ft 5 frame which would put me at 10st and a size 10. I know it’s not a lot but I struggle to lose weight as love food so much. My plan involves more exercise, not eating breakfast til 10.30am (then lunch at 2 and dinner at 6). I find if I wait to eat breakfast then I snack less during the day as the meals are coming with such regularity. I drink a lot of tea and coffee first thing

That's a brilliant start Dumpy, well done!

I'm not doing so well - I pulled my back on Tuesday evening, so am feeling miserable. That coupled with Christmas snacks still in the house is not good at all. I haven't gone completely out of control but I still ate things like mince pies, which are high in calories 😔

Today is a new day though, onward and downwards!

DSGR · 06/01/2022 11:20

If your Christmas biscuits and chocolates are still in date, can you give them to a food bank?
