Started 2021 at 15st 1lb! Lost weight, put some on, lost some, put some back on. Weighed myself today and I'm 15st 2 again!!!! Back to square one! In 5"2 and now back up to a size 16. I feel unhealthy and unattractive but really struggle with the impulse to binge eat, especially when I am stressed or tired. Before having children I lost 8 stone, weighed 10 stone and wore a size 10 so I know I can do it. Just need to stay motivated. I am going to restart with my fitness Pal and try and walk 10000 everyday. Really don't want to be writing the same thing this time next year!

I find all these areas are completely related in some way - an improvement in any area makes improving another easier.

Morning all! I've been away again, ate my body weight in deserts, chocolate and crisps again and now am bracing myself for the scales again.

How's everyone else doing?

Queeniewag · 04/05/2022 13:03

Similar to you @WitchDancer started again yesterday. Sigh.

Courante · 07/05/2022 08:22

I've had a gluttonous week of meals out, takeaways, chocolate and booze. I decided to put a line under it by facing the scales this morning (haven't done that in several weeks). Honestly, I'm shocked - I think I was expecting to be around sts/maybe +2 lbs as I thought I may have lost a little in the weeks before this week which would balance it. Nope - I am a full +7 lbs. 😱. Maybe this is the shock I needed?

Seriously considering going down the meal replacement route for a while.

WitchDancer · 07/05/2022 11:55

Oh that's a horrible feeling Courante, I feel your pain!

It's funny but I was contemplating SlimFast last night too. I've tried it before and lost a stone in 2 weeks, although it's definitely not sustainable in the long term.

Courante · 07/05/2022 12:22

Thank you Witchdancer!

I haven't decided what to do yet - still haven't eaten breakfast. Easy to decide to do a meal replacement when not hungry at all first thing in the morning!

I've lost 5 st on Slim and Save before (in three blocks (6-12 weeks) with short breaks) - ok when you're on it and in ketosis but not convinced I can face it again. I'm definitely going to start the process of tapering onto some kind of weight loss diet though over the next few days. I think I need to go back to daily weighing (I do understand fluctuations etc. so feel safe to do this).

WitchDancer · 07/05/2022 15:39

I'd not heard of Slim and Save before so I've just spent half hour looking at the website. I don't know if it's for me - I get hangry when not fed regularly! On the other hand I do like the idea of just buying a pack and then that's all you need with no cooking involved.

I'm just tired of being fat and ill. It's probably not the day to be making lifestyle changes today.

Courante · 08/05/2022 16:04

I was amazed when I stuck to it the first time! Once you're on it and in ketosis it is the easiest kind of diet in many ways but getting on... not so easy sometimes.

I've decided to try again, starting tomorrow, with a friend. I've got no intention of sticking to the correct number of packs or even just packs tomorrow - I'm easing myself on for a less painful start! We've both just downloaded an app that allows us to set up a challenge/group (can have multiple ones) - so see how that goes too (as we don't live close).

I'm dreading the summer being insulated by all this extra weight again and not knowing what to wear. It is pick the pain time!

WitchDancer · 08/05/2022 17:56

You think it's worth the money Courante?

WitchDancer · 09/05/2022 08:52

New week, new weigh in. I've maintained so am happy with that.

I'm just going to take this week one meal at a time and try not to snack.

How's everyone else doing?

Courante · 10/05/2022 12:42

Well done Maintaining @WitchDancer !

Yes, I think it is worth the money - tbh I save money on it as I don't drink wine and I don't really budget at all on the supermarket shopping usually (we spend a lot as often we end up having three different meal times and meals in our house anyway).

Yesterday I had a porridge pack for breakfast (7.15 am), a bar for lunch (1.20 pm) and then 200g of veg & a meal pack (cottage pie) for dinner at 6 pm. No way I would've managed doing that if I wasn't so busy at work! I wasn't busy in the evening though so ended up eating quite a few things (no packs) in the evening.

All part of the transition though - I'm going to try and only have packs today (having more than 4 as needed). Potentially harder today as I am at home now. I've just ridden out a hunger wave by using a coffee and MN to distract me! Probably will have a shake pack at 1.30 pm and then not leave it as long as yesterday before another, as I think I got too hungry yesterday. I must also make the effort to distract myself with things this evening...

I'm still not 100% convinced that I will manage to get on properly but I'll be delighted if I do. Going to make some sugar free jelly now, which may help this evening...

Courante · 10/05/2022 13:06

Just to add - I also try and save money on it buy checking out the offers and sale section and shopping the box bundles rather than always buying the plan amounts. I also buy 4 weeks at time when firmly on it, as that works out much cheaper per pack.

I like these things enough to have them when I'm not doing a VLCD - so I know I'll use them at some point even if the VLCD becomes a LCD. I know what I like now so pretty much stick to the same thing and I don't bother with water flavouring etc or not having caffeinated coffee when trying to get in ketosis as I've found it makes no difference to me so I have Robinson's special R and coffee as usual.

WitchDancer · 10/05/2022 13:26

That's interesting Courante, thank you for sharing. I'm giving Slim Fast a go for a week or two as a kick start but if that doesn't work I'll try it.
