Calorie counting for the new year, anyone want to join?

Hello :)
I have a 11lbs to lose, and planning on calorie counting as it’s worked well for me in the past. I’ll be using Nutracheck and on 1450 calories a day. I really need accountability so I’m planning to post my calories and meals each evening, and weigh in every Thursday starting tomorrow.

I’d love some company!
Happy to talk to myself if not though (and I fully expect I will be as it’s a bit of a boring thread 😂).

I was planning to start on the 1st but due to being absolutely disgusted with how much I’ve eaten over Christmas I’m starting tomorrow instead Grin

I’m also planning a general lifestyle improvement - much less time on my phone, and some kind of exercise every day.

Good luck to anyone else looking to lose weight in the new year! 💪

@Daisy829 definitely stick with the running then. I’ve always found it’s great for weight loss but also helps to keep a positive wellbeing.

Okay so end of feb… not that far away. Imagine how great it will feel to have lost and be even closer to your goal! I always think about the opposite outcome - if I don’t stick with it, I’ll gain weight and be really unhappy with my lack of progress. X
@MotherMole the running is going great. I’ve been again today & did 30 mins. I’m no where near 5k in that time but I’ll just build up my speed & stamina.
How are you doing?
30 mins is amazing! Well done.

Daisy829 · 21/01/2022 19:33

@kirinm thank you.
@MotherMole yes, that feeling when I get there is going to be what keeps me going

User7853367 · 21/01/2022 20:40

I'm not feeling down about the no weight loss this week because my new jeans I ordered from ASOS came in today and I'm a smaller size 🙌 it's a bit tight but soon won't be. Non scale victory.

Daisy829 · 21/01/2022 21:46

Well done @User7853367 what a great result

MushMonster · 21/01/2022 22:32

Well done all!
It is a wonderful journey indeed.
Feeling healthy is the best reward indeed, and fitting on smaller sizes!
Got my plan for tomorrow, granola (with almonds, hazelnuts and some chocolate bits) with almond milk, avocado and bean salad, and fish and chips!
I love fish and chips! Looking forward.
Must go cycling tomorrow and gym on Sunday.
That will take some effort because I have to work too Sad

Well done everyone!!
Im on day 20 of my deficit, I've stuck to my 1200 apart from 2 days where I had 1500 and 1800 so still a deficit. Im yet to weigh myself because I'm in the zone and want to see a really decent loss. My clothes feel more comfortable though 😁 I've around 2.5 stone to lose

MotherMole · 21/01/2022 22:51

Wow @addictedtotheflats day 20 of deficit. I admire your commitment and willpower. Well done!

Your menu sounds nice @MushMonster 😀

StarryNightSparkles · 22/01/2022 02:29

Hi everyone,

Just checking in to say I lost 3 pounds this week. That's 5 pounds off in total. Still loving the app. Still need to try and fit in exercise somehow.

MotherMole · 22/01/2022 06:40

Well done @StarryNightSparkles !

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 22/01/2022 08:37

Well done everyone, sounds like some great successes.

I'm still really liking the nutracheck app, it's really keeping me focused. I'm half way through week three and my four week average shows 1431 cals a day (my goal is 1400), but I've been doing lots of exercise as well so I'm pretty happy with that. I'm not entirely sure how I'm going to log a tasting menu tonight though!

MushMonster · 22/01/2022 09:09

Testing menu! It is going to be a challenge indeed!
What is the ocassion?
Enjoy itSmile

User7853367 · 22/01/2022 10:14

I would just keep calories as low as possible all day then quick input the remaining days calories in as dinner so you don't falsely carry any over. Just enjoy the dinner and stay within your calories for the rest of the week and it'll be fine

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 23/01/2022 10:35

Thanks @User7853367. I've ended up putting myself at around 500 cals over for the day, as I think that's about right. And will be very good for the rest of my nutracheck week (wed - Tue).

DH's birthday @MushMonster! It was lovely, worth the extra calories!

kirinm · 23/01/2022 12:46

Onto my 4th day within calories. This is the longest I've managed for a long time.

MotherMole · 23/01/2022 17:22

Yay! Well done @kirinm

Daisy829 · 23/01/2022 18:19

Well done everyone.

Today I ran my first full 5k. Took me 44 mins which I know is quite slow but I’m really proud I stuck to it. Usually I stop when the app says I can after the allocated time but today I just kept going. I feel like I’ve really achieved something. Just need to try to get a bit faster although I can’t decide if it’s best to get faster or try to increase my distance. I’ll just stick with this for a couple of weeks I think.

MotherMole · 24/01/2022 08:08

@Daisy829 That is brilliant well done! Sounds like you could easily get to 6km if you felt like you could keep going. I never worried about time, just kept plugging away and then before you know it your time is less, distance gets more. I remember my first 5k without stopping, such a great feeling. WELL DONE!

Daisy829 · 24/01/2022 12:33

I’m aching today though! Can’t wait to have a hot bath tonight to ease my muscles 🤣

Daisy829 · 25/01/2022 09:29

Booooo I’ve tested positive for covid today after the rest of the house have finished their isolation.
I’m determined not to let this throw me off track. I’m going to stick to healthy eating & do 10k steps in the garden. Not quite maintaining my 5k but my garden isn’t big enough to accommodate that!

Slidey23 · 25/01/2022 15:22

@Daisy829 hope you’re ok and it passes quickly!

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 25/01/2022 17:03

Oh what a shame @Daisy829 hope you don't get ill with it. Good work on the running!

Daisy829 · 26/01/2022 07:41

Thank you. I was expecting to wake up feeling poorly today but nothing except a text message to confirm a positive pcr! It’s annoying as I can’t work (I’m a childminder) and I’ve been shut for a week already due to the others having it. I’m going to get out in the garden today and do some steps.

kirinm · 26/01/2022 10:09

Sorry to hear that and how frustrating to have had to close for a week already.

I have managed to stick to 1500 calories for 5 days so far (today is no.6). Will weigh myself on Friday I think. I haven't done any exercise so any loss will be purely food based. I'm aiming to incorporate exercise as of next week so will be interesting to see how much of a difference it makes.

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 26/01/2022 12:25

Weigh in day for me - I put on 3/4lb this last week, but I had a bit of a blowout art the weekend so I'm ok with that.

I'll do a Les mills class after work at home.

Good luck with getting your steps in around the garden @Daisy829. Any YouTube fitness classes take your fancy if you continue to feel well?
