Calorie counting for the new year, anyone want to join?

Hello :)
I have a 11lbs to lose, and planning on calorie counting as it’s worked well for me in the past. I’ll be using Nutracheck and on 1450 calories a day. I really need accountability so I’m planning to post my calories and meals each evening, and weigh in every Thursday starting tomorrow.

I’d love some company!
Happy to talk to myself if not though (and I fully expect I will be as it’s a bit of a boring thread 😂).

I was planning to start on the 1st but due to being absolutely disgusted with how much I’ve eaten over Christmas I’m starting tomorrow instead Grin

I’m also planning a general lifestyle improvement - much less time on my phone, and some kind of exercise every day.

Good luck to anyone else looking to lose weight in the new year! 💪

Hello- could I join, please? I'm on week two of 1500 calories a day, and increased walking. I'm 31, I need to loose about 3 stone Blush
I've lost 8lb in my first two weeks, expecting it to slow down a bit this week but it's given me great motivation and I think my tummy looks
A bit smaller already!

wishthiswasreallife · 16/01/2022 10:21

Hi everyone!

Is it too late for me to join? I restarted last Sunday I use nutracheck and my Fitbit.

Thankyou x

wishthiswasreallife · 16/01/2022 10:21

I have at least 3 stone to lose also!

User7853367 · 16/01/2022 10:34

First weigh in since I started back - have lost the 4lbs I put on over Christmas. I've also started doing YouTube workouts 3-4 times a week so hoping that makes a difference.

DH and I are also reducing meat eating to once per week and its amazing how much less calories there are in vegetarian food so I'm finding it really easy.

MushMonster · 16/01/2022 11:27

Welcome to all!
And well done to all the losses, getting those rewards after the planning and sticking to plan days!

Weekends are definitively the trickiest of times when it comes to this!
I had biscuits yesterday! They were great, but now I will have to come up with a swift plan to rail it all back to the plan!
So I am cooking up my soups for the beginning of the week today.

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 16/01/2022 16:34

Hello and welcome to the new joiners. Congrats on that weight loss @User7853367

@wishthiswasreallife a few people on the thread are using nutracheck. I was inspired to sign up here!

I overspent my calories yesterday, but I am hoping they will balance out over my week (Wed - Tue). I made a conscious effort to get extra exercise in this weekend too as I knew I was going to go over.

I had a small finger of fudge today as a bit of a treat (98 calories) I've only had chocolate a couple of times since the start of the year when previously I would have had something most days and I couldn't believe how sweet it was! It made it much easier for me to be happy with just a small taste of chocolate.

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 16/01/2022 16:36

We're trying to have more meat free days @User7853367 but I think we're too carnivorous to go to one day. Have you picked up any good new veggie recipes?

User7853367 · 16/01/2022 17:08

Yes. I've been on the BBC Good Food App and there's loads. We had a Butterbean Stew last week that was delicious. Fajitas tonight with beans and peppers.

Wednesdayafternoon · 16/01/2022 17:57

Hi everyone! I need to loose around 11lbs to get me to ten stone.
I've been so successful with slimming world in the past but atm I just don't have the time or money to commit to it.
I've downloaded my fitness pal to try calorie counting tomorrow but my breakfast is 400 and my daily intake is 1200!
Any tips on a low cal breakfast? I normally struggle in the mornings! Please help 🙈

Daisy829 · 16/01/2022 18:38

So I went out for tea today and I’ve gone over my weekly calorie intake by 679. Thankfully I’ve done some exercise so including the calories earned by that I’m still 1977 in credit although I don’t usually count my exercise calories into my food allowance. I had a roast dinner & a small piece of apple crumble with custard but it’s amazing how quickly the calories mount up. Would have been even worse if I had been drinking too. Straight back on it tomorrow. Hoping for another couple of pound off this week. Good luck everyone.

wishthiswasreallife · 16/01/2022 18:53

Does anyone else use the PON books for meal ideas? I quite often use them and they are really good!

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 17/01/2022 08:03

With two days to go for my week, I am 599 calories over on food alone so need to keep the calories down today and tomorrow. I'm 2040 in credit when exercise is factored in but I'm trying not to include exercise cals.

What kind of things are you having for breakfast @Wednesdayafternoon? I had boiled egg with toast and butter and a glass of hot water with lemon for breakfast and that came in at 205 calories.

1200 is low, I couldn't sustain in tbh. If you adjust the number of pounds you're aiming to lose a week would that give you more calories?

Milliways · 17/01/2022 19:07

So after the blowout weekend I still ended up with an overall 3 pound loss, so pleased with that and back to it this week.
Managed to say no to the endless snacks at work ( we have all taken the Christmas excess into the surgery to share), but it’s easier when you are busy, it’s at home in the evening I get most tempted.
Previously I allowed myself 1 chocolate, or 2-3 giant chocolate buttons a night, so I need to get something like that, really tasty and a treat, and not too bad in limited doses, to avoid binging on something else.

User7853367 · 17/01/2022 20:48

@Milliways I like chocolate digestives/hobnobs as a chocolate treat or the little bars from Aldi. They're gorgeous and 228 calories for the milk one. Choceur they're called.

Daisy829 · 17/01/2022 20:52

@Milliways great loss well done. I always have an options hot choc in the evening that’s 40cals. Lotus biscoff aren’t bad in calories & I also noticed Aldi have mini cornettos so I’ve got some of them in
Did another 25 min run tonight but on a treadmill and it felt sooo much easier than the road run I did on sat. I actually felt I could have carried on. That’s never happened before so it felt good.

TeenTitan007 · 18/01/2022 08:48

Can I join please? Managed to lose 5 kg /11 pounds last autumn by calorie counting, weight training and increasing my protein count. Took a break over Christmas and struggling to get back to weight loss now. Company would help. Smile

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 18/01/2022 11:52

Come on in @TeenTitan007.

Well done on the weight loss @Milliways!

My weigh in day is tomorrow but I was tempted to hop on the scales this morning and was another 2 pounds down. So that's 4 pounds in two weeks and gets me back to my pre-Christmas weight. Now to crack on with my overall weight-loss goal! I'd love to lose a stone now.

MushMonster · 18/01/2022 22:36

Well done everyone! It is going really well!
I have been a bit off it since Sunday. Lots of work, so not much time left for anything else. Stayed within daily maintenance, which is a great way of being "naughty" without breaking the calories bank!, good for weekends. Now back to 1200 cal. For those who get low numbers in their calorie calculators, 1200 cal are not that difficut at all, and it is mainly related to age or metabolism rate. But it is perfectly doable. Just a little smaller portion, or ditch a toast per day.
Tomorrow I have granola (including nuts and chocolate bits) with almond milk, tomatoe soup and bread and a spinach and feta omelette, plus a fruit smoothie as a snack.
I need to do the meal plan for the week.
I am also planning getting back to the gym as I will be over a work deadline.

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 19/01/2022 07:37

Weigh in day for me - down to 11st 3.5 - that's 4.5 pounds off since I started 2 weeks ago, very pleased with that!

Gwenhwyfar · 19/01/2022 11:19

Hi, how do you log something you spread on bread. I can't figure out how much of cheese/hummus etc. would be on my knife and it's not an amount I can weigh either.

kirinm · 19/01/2022 11:34

I'm a little late but do you mind if I join? I have just weighed myself for the first time in months and I am shocked at how much I've put on. Since the first lockdown, I'd added 2.5 stone. I blame working from home, a complete lack of exercise and overeating through either boredom really.

I cannot go on like this.

Gwenhwyfar · 19/01/2022 11:36

wfh is terrible for our activity levels

kirinm · 19/01/2022 11:37

I absolutely hate it. I could easily get 10k steps in a day just from the commute but now I struggle to get above 2k.

Since I had my DD I have struggled to fit in exercise and for some reason it feels harder than ever now.

Gwenhwyfar · 19/01/2022 12:01

"I absolutely hate it. I could easily get 10k steps in a day just from the commute but now I struggle to get above 2k."

Yes, our lives have become much smaller.

AndSoFinally · 19/01/2022 13:02

@Milliways, try a mini twister ice Lilly. They're about 38 cals
