Anyone up for sorting themselves out?

I really need to sort myself out. I look and feel a mess, hardly any of my clothes fit me.

I've had enough of feeling this way so have decided to do something about it.

Just hit my 50's and want to get back into doing my hair and make up and looking after myself.

A couple of stones need to be lost, I am about to get on the scales. It's been a long time coming 😁

Morning everyone.

Quite happy as yesterday I managed not to eat outside of meal times, zero cigarettes since Tuesday, went for a walk and did some yoga. It’s all got to be helping!

babypounds · 14/10/2021 05:40

I would like to join please. I need to lose some more baby pounds but struggling to find the time to exercise. I have an 8 month old going through sleep regression and a toddler and I feel permanently exhausted.

Problem is I'm also a binge eater, always have been...but hopefully with the help of you guys I can stick to my healthy lifestyle.

I am 5'6, currently 10 stone (I think, I haven't weighed myself in a week as I'm too scared), and I would like to get as close to 9 stone as I can 🙈 I have a deadline of Xmas so we will see...

DaisyNGO · 14/10/2021 06:31

@Valhalla17

Problem is with no sweet tooth you end up just gorging on things like cheese instead. ..like me Grin

Day 2 here for me. I flunked on the morning exercise (too tired) but ate ok...just a bit too much sourdough...oops! Had toast and pb with coffee, split pea soup (yes with toast), then chicken/new pots/broccoli. All then followed up by another small slice of toasted sourdough Blush

The bread is finished so I will hopefully avoid that mistake tomorrow!

You can get your savoury fix as part of a main meal though? I have lost weight a few times and toast was key. Different ways suit different people.

I did not do well yesterday. I won't go into boring detail but dinner was delayed and I ended up overeating quite a bit. I was also very irritable...normally I wouldn't mind dinner being delayed but I think the lack of sugar or chocolate threw me!

Better day today I hope.

I am going to start next week . Currently on holiday and eating for the country. I dread to think what the scales will say on my return.

LadyOfLittleLeisure · 14/10/2021 06:43

My weight loss is slowing again Sad I'm currently 11st7 (at 5ft4, so BMI around 27.5, 1st overweight) and was wondering if people find it harder to lose weight quickly as they approach "normal". I lost very quickly when I was 13st.

I am low carbing and eating a lot less.

LadyOfLittleLeisure · 14/10/2021 06:51

I think I need to start calorie counting again in addition to low carb. Yesterday (just done a MyFitnessPal estimate) I ate around 1000 calories (but I was so hungry). I'd really like to lose quickly.

CommanderBurnham · 14/10/2021 06:54

I'm in. Feeling lumpy and frumpy right now. Also my knickers are digging in my frilly bits and it hurts. It's definitely a warning.

Busy day ahead but will check in later.

Squirrelblanket · 14/10/2021 07:56

@DaisyNGO I have a beer and crisps tooth instead. 🤦🏻‍♀️😂

VikingsandDragons · 14/10/2021 11:23

A few days late to the party, but may I join you?

I'm terrible for sticking it out more than a week, but I usually have a very active job, which was shut for all but 6 weeks of the last year, and I ate like usual if not more as I was home all the time, end result being in a year I've gone from a size 10 to a 14 and a mid-low healthy bmi to a high overweight one.

I've lost 19lbs so far, but still another 38 to go.

Squirrelblanket · 14/10/2021 11:26

Welcome, and well done!

Roselilly36 · 14/10/2021 11:40

I am in too! 50 fat and not looking after myself as I should, need to pull myself together, starting today.

fairycakesarefr33 · 14/10/2021 13:23

@NoraLuka well done on the no smoking front! As an ex-smoker I know how hard it is to stop, nevermind trying to lose weight at the same time - hope the yoga is helping to counter any nicotine withdrawal rage! Grin

No weight loss here yet but I've been eating better, no chocolate since the weekend and I went for a run yesterday too. I am feeling a lot better in myself so hopefully the scales will start to move soon. I do think it will be slow and just hope I don't become deflated and give up!

TripleTipplePipple · 14/10/2021 19:04

Day 4 has gone well here. Not healthy in the slightest but still within my calories so all good. I had a prawn mayo sandwich for lunch from Tesco. It was lovely! Guilty secret....I really like them. That and a belvita for breakfast, chilli and rice for tea, a pack of chicken pop things and a dairy milk. Oh and a diet coke and a few decaf coffees. So like I say, not healthy but not massively high calorie. Early night tonight I think, one-so I don't carry on eating and two-kids were up at 5am so I'm feeling a bit shattered!

Squirrelblanket · 14/10/2021 19:08

I LOVE a prawn mayo sandwich! 😍

NoraLuka · 14/10/2021 20:05

Thanks @fairycakesarefr33 I am usually a furious mess on day 2 of quitting smoking but today has actually been ok.

I did eat a bit of chocolate but that’s ok, cancelled it out by doing day 1, week 4 of couch to 5K.

I weighed myself, 12st 2lb for 5’7 which is overweight according to my BMI calculation. It’s not so much my actual weight which is the problem but the way it is inexorably creeping up and up. I need to make lasting lifestyle changes.

recklessgran · 14/10/2021 20:31

Day 3 and still no bread consumed.
Bacon and egg for lunch.
Sausages, roast vegetables and broccoli for dinner followed by sugar free jelly and raspberries.
Still no exercise unless you count the stroll round Sainsburys this afternoon. I'm not proud of that but simply can't be bothered to move myself - how on earth do I fix that? Please tell me I'm not the only lazy bird on here! Lots of black coffee but only 2 glasses of water - does the coffee count as water do you think?

DaisyNGO · 14/10/2021 21:17

I might get some sugar free jelly

I was hoping to ditch the taste but not sure how realistic that is

I had a big surge on extra work on a project so didn't even go for a walk at lunch, but when you are in the zone...it will make tomorrow easier so I can exercise then.

I actually think diet is more important for me. I might make Saturday weigh in day. Not sure.

recklessgran · 14/10/2021 21:40

@DaisyNGO I'm a big fan of sugar free jelly as it feels like a bit of a naughty dessert even though I get 6 pots out of one packet which amounts to about 25 cals a pot. I then add about half a dozen frozen raspberries to each pot straight from the freezer and then stick the pots in the fridge to set. So that's about 31 calories per serving. I don't think I could do better than that calorie wise and it keeps me away from anything else sweet. To be fair I really don't have a sweet tooth but I still enjoy one of these every night after dinner. DH has a massive sweet tooth and eats a lot of trifle and cakes so I join in with him with one of my jelly pots!

Myusernameisnotmyusernameno · 14/10/2021 21:44

Sorry I joined this them haven't been on Confused. How's everyone getting on. I smashed calorie burning yesterday with work and going back to the office and then clubbercise class. Was meant to go out for dinner but my friend had to cancel so did another clubbercise class. Just need to start eating fruit instead of chocolate now Grin

I might try that

I had this, or similar, in the US, so if I can find it cheaper, it could help with the chocolate.

My sister, who wasn't overweight anyway, now has no chocolate or sugar unless it's a special meal out. In the last year, she's gone down another dress size. She doesn't know what she weighs. She also gave up Diet Coke as she felt it was encouraging a sweet tooth.

So I'm not sure. I can see the evidence and she felt like she had a diet coke addiction, in her words.

Clubbercise sounds fab!
buckeejit · 14/10/2021 22:15

I need to get back on the wagon, lost 2 stone at the start of the year & nearly all back on. Need to relose it & more. Plan to start on Monday fully but make better habits starting from tomorrow with drinking more water & no more visits to the bakery! Will try the raspberry jelly too-thanks

Squirrelblanket · 15/10/2021 06:49

@recklessgran I'm lazy too! 👋😂 I am planning to go back to the gym next week though.

It's my weigh in day today. I've lost 2lbs, which is 4lbs in total since I started late September. (Started late September, lost 5lbs, put some back on 🤦🏻‍♀️, restarted this week etc).

turnaroundtouchtheground · 15/10/2021 07:12

Hello, I'm in a similar situation and I feel so rubbish about myself. The last 6 months have thrown my life upside down and I've let myself go. I need to lose 1.5 stone to be healthy again.

@Squirrelblanket I am also concentrating on healthy habits. I'm doing a course about it called Bitesize Habits by Dr Heather Mckee. I have a tendency to try and change too many things at once but the research shows it's the opposite approach that works. My current habit I am working on is drinking less alcohol and getting to bed earlier...a biggie. Exercise Habits are already quite good and food is also OK except when booze is involved. I've accepted the journey will be slow.

I just can't do the diet/regain/panic diet cycle anymore!!

Hope everyone is ready for the weekend? The challenge for me will be sticking to my new habit even though I'll want to drink more and go to bed later!
