6 week blitz starting tomorrow

I’m simply starting this thread for myself as a diary.

I’m hovering around 12st 1-3lbs ish. I’d like to hover at 11stones-something in 6 weeks time, so nothing major.

All I’m going to do is the following:

  1. Stick to under 1600 calories per day
  2. Walk for an hour each day
  3. Resistance train 4 times per week

I should be able to do this easily but I need some accountability (with the food!) so here I am!

I have 4 social occasions during this time that may lead to not sticking to 1600 calories on those days but I am ok with that. I will just do my best on those days, accept what they are, and not let them lead to throwing in the towel altogether.

If anyone would like to join me they are very welcome!

@BasinHaircut DS1 (extremely fussy eater) loves Pizza Express, we used to end up eating there a lot pre-Covid (and when we had vouchers!) - their bruschetta is yummy. But not very WW-friendly

Honestly @Cavagirl, I think we've all been there - knowing we should do ABC for weight loss but just not getting into our stride and doing XYZ instead! Then you think, oh there's no point doing ABC because at the weekend I'll have to do XYZ - and it just carries on. One phrase I do use quite often (to myself) is "don't let the perfect be the enemy of the good" - it's better to do something than nothing. Well done on turning it round today Smile

Frustrating day today, I did w6r2 and went a bit over my WW points but just don't feel like I'm losing weight even though I am losing inches very slowly. Tried on a top I used to wear pre-weight gain when I was feeling fat, it hid a multitude of sins - not now Sad if I wore it now people would definitely ask me when I was due...

Another goodish day. Morning HIIT session done. Black coffee for breakfast as usual. Then chicken and veg stir fry for lunch with fruit for after. Dinner was spicy halloumi salad.

I did have a generous helping of bread and butter pudding with creme fraiche. Made with homemade brioche and I couldn't resist. And a piece of dark chocolate. But those were my only refined carbs so not gonna beat myself up over it.

BasinHaircut · 01/07/2021 22:08

Had my meal out, had lasagne, chips and a pint of peroni. Takes me 500 kcals over, so ending today on 2,100 calories which is probably somewhere around my maintenance requirements so it’s all good. My friend who I met for dinner had a starter and a dessert and I just sat there and watched! ShockShock really pleased with that.

Went to the pub and had a pint and three lovelie. Feta and apinach spanokopitas... that takes me to 1750 cals, 550 over my "budget".

Im going camping tomorrow Confused it will be booze and meat and carbs and more booze... Hmm
Wish me luck!!

olliepollie · 02/07/2021 10:46

Another good day yesterday, no exercise as no time but fasted for 15h and did low cal/low carb. More than 800 but I didn't freak out about it.

Got my lowest scale weight in quite a long time this morning.

Today will be higher cal but I've done my cardio workout and some body weight exercise and will do a 16h fast (eating after 1pm) and low carb as far as possible.

NuclearSummer · 02/07/2021 12:04

Had a good couple of days where I’ve had loads of protein, veg and salad. Failing to log my calories though as I forget, anyway I think I need to focus on a healthy diet first and then calories. I’d really fallen into eaten so many carbs and getting uncomfortably full.
2 days if no alcohol means better sleep and fewer carb cravings so I’m pleased with that. And I’ve hit 10k steps each day just from school runs and toddler wrangling.

BasinHaircut · 02/07/2021 13:48

Back on track here today.

Breakfast - protein shake, banana and coffee 300kcals
Lunch - 3 eggs (scrambled), 2 toast with vitalite 500kcals

I’ve done a 75 min walk too and I have yoga later.

Dinner will be massaman curry and rice. It’s one from the back of the freezer and I don’t really know the calorie content but I’ve got 800kcals to play with so should be enough.

Back on track today, week 7 day 2 of couch to 5k was fun.

Breakfast: none, two black coffees
Lunch: leftover salmon
Dinner: Pie and mash and peas

So far I've had 1.5l of water

BasinHaircut · 02/07/2021 20:49

My dinner was lush. Everyone else had naan bread but Instead I made a sort of salsa with sweetcorn, chopped tomatoes, chopped peanuts, spring onions, lime juice and mango chutney and mixed it in with my rice. It was delicious!

I really don’t know the calories but I had 800 spare and I’m hoping that was enough to cover it.

Did a 30 min shred this morning then sat at a desk for the next 8 hours Hmm

Healthy lunch of salad with halloumi which was followed by me inhaling a jam tart when I found out another dept had messed up a project proposal and I had to spend several hours sorting it.

Dinner was a jacket potato followed by trifle. Utterly crap food today from midday onwards. I've got to work on my stress eating.

Jammymare · 02/07/2021 22:25

I was well on track to finish the day at under 1,200 calories, but then OH came home with gu puddings, so that tiny ramekin of delight pushed me up to 1,572kcal I might just amend my calories to 1,600 as it seems more achievable, will see what my Monday weigh in says

NuclearSummer · 03/07/2021 07:19

So this weekend I should be batch cooking low carb meals to avoid a repeat of last night. OH was late back from work last night and I ended up putting the kids to bed then too exhausted to cook what I had planned so had pizza. Actually I only had a quarter and half a garlic bread as I tried to just eat until full (how novel!). That situation occurs fairly regularly with one of us working late so really I should have a plan in place so we don’t turn to high carb junk. So the plan is to make four freezable healthy meals for the week ahead.

olliepollie · 03/07/2021 21:50

Not the best day eating-wise - feeling so tired (much insomnia this week) so I didn't fast past 10am and more or less ate what I wanted. But I did extra cycling this morning, 15km, and I have been on my feet a lot. I paid a lot of attention to how I felt after eating and it reinforces what I am already starting to think - I love carbs but they make me feel physically a bit crap. Low carb suits me better.

Tomorrow have lunch out so might not manage a full fast til 1pm but won't have anything before lunch. Dinner is planned low cal/low carb. It's my no exercise day so I will nap instead 😴

I had a good loss when I weighed yesterday, 2.5kg, so I'm hopeful I can get another good loss next week and the more relaxed weekend doesn't have more than a temporary impact, as all the weekends this month I have plans so will need to be more relaxed 😬

SunscreenCentral · 03/07/2021 22:16

B none
L salad & tuna
D battered cod & chips (oven) & coleslaw
Snack 2 x Cadbury fun size Fudge

Drank 1L Volvic strawberry light, various teas/coffee

Exercise: not much, class tom morning

Jammymare · 04/07/2021 00:15

Planned day off tracking today, had a healthy breakfast and lunch then headed to our first wedding since COVID for an evening do and enjoyed myself with a hog roast and plenty of sweets from the trolley.
Made up for it by volunteering to drive and only drinking slimline tonic, so hopeful that I won’t have ruined my progress this week. Didn’t get my steps in though. Back on it tomorrow.

BasinHaircut · 04/07/2021 08:50

Also had the evening off yesterday, got invited around a friend’s to watch the footie on a big projector screen in the garden and they ordered pizza in and I had 2 beers and some nibbles. Just enjoyed it really. Also didn’t get a walk in as I felt exhausted, think I maybe over-did it a bit in the week with all of the gym sessions and yoga and felt like a break would do me good (and I feel like it has).

I’m planning a nice long walk today (hoping for a break in the rain!) and will get the eating straight back on track.

Got to order my online food shop today and feeling motivated.

Had the evening off yesterday too, took the kids out to a local attraction and just relaxed the eating. Did get my usual HIIT in before that though and managed 30 mins this morning as well. I feel like if I get the exercise out of the way in the morning then whatever happens at least that bit is done.

Planning on relaxing the low carbing today as well as I want to eat with the family.

ClaraTheImpossibleGirl · 04/07/2021 22:20

@Jammymare Gu puddings are the work of the devil who wants me to be fat Sad Sad

I did a long (for me!) run yesterday, today was mainly spent doing a long overdue spring clean with lots of vacuuming, dusting, moving furniture etc. Hoping it pays off on the scales tomorrow...!

BasinHaircut · 05/07/2021 07:45

@ClaraTheImpossibleGirl also did a bit of a spring clean yesterday - my hallway/stairs/landing was a disgrace. Scrubbed all of the dirty hand prints off the walls, cleaned the doors and woodwork, and cleaned the carpet. Feels like I’ve decorated! Grin
Should have put my step counter on whilst I did it reallly.

Also got a walk in.

Food was:
Breakfast - peanut butter and jam on toast
Lunch - instant noodles, tofu pieces and cheese
Dinner - smoked haddock, mash, sweetcorn and tomato salsa
Snacks - apple, banana

Not the best day vegetable-wise but was a ‘use up what’s in the house day’ and still came in at 1,600 kcals so I was happy with that.

Morning everyone,

Sleepy Sunday yesterday eating chocolate on the sofa. Must try harder.
But I have meal planned and bought a fridge stuffed full of salad and healthy choices. And now all the chocolate is gone anyway!

Start weight 11st 7.5lb
Week 1 weigh in 11st 5.5lb

So a steady 2lb loss, although I did have a lower weigh in during the week, snacking at weekends appears to be my downfall.

Today I am off work so I will get out on my bike or go for a run. Pesto pasta planned for tea, and mine will be mainly courgette. Let’s do this.

Cavagirl · 05/07/2021 10:42

Morning everyone! I've lost almost 1lb since last Monday, so not quite on track for 1lb a week but given my midweek carb blip I'll take it!
Away this week which will make things tricky to stick to but I'll try not to throw the diet totally out the window....
Hope everyone is happy with their losses those of you weighing in today.

troppibambini6 · 05/07/2021 11:06

Well done @Jammymare and @Cavagirl!! Going in the right direction!!

Start weight 12.10
First week weigh 12.6

I go on holiday 1 month today the thought of swimwear is terrifying me Grin

ClaraTheImpossibleGirl · 05/07/2021 11:08

Well done @Jammymare and @Cavagirl! Hope everyone else has good news at the scales Smile

@BasinHaircut I was exhausted after my cleaning spree and stank of Cillit Bang but have still only lost half a pound this week - how annoying! I did lose 0.5% body fat but still have two stones and 10% body fat to go...

SunscreenCentral · 05/07/2021 11:37

B none
L ryvita cheese coleslaw
D prawn sweet&sour
S ummm wine?...

Didn't track yesterday, got a yoga class in but a fairly easy stretchy one
