Any Lardy fatties in their 50's want to join me in weight loss

Morning, I'm looking for some company in my quest to lose the lard.

I'm useless at dieting, I have managed to shift one stone since Christmas but I keep losing and gaining, rinse and repeat.

Anyone up for joining me.

Got fuel! Very relieved. Things have eased around us.

Last day of September. Not a good month for me, started the month at 10 st 8 lbs, dipped to 10st 6 lbs, today I weigh 10 st 9 lbs.

How has everyone else’s September been?

Any lurkers want to share?

putthehamsterbackinitscage · 01/10/2021 09:42

Glad you've got fuel @TrueGrit54 - hope you have a good break.

It's been a long week - and too much temptation- DH keeps opening bottles of wine - that sounds bad Blush - and it's bloody hard not to join him- though I did resist it last night. And we've booked cinema tickets for Sunday - must resist the popcorn and sweets.

I started September at 9.4.2 on the 2nd and today is 9.2.7 after a low of 9.1.4 about 10 days ago... need to get back on track - got 9.7 lbs to target and heading into danger territory with winter comfort food and the weather meaning it's too easy not to go for a run or walk.

Evening all how’s everyone been doing? I’m feeling quietly optimistic a little bit of weight starting to shift again this week, I think upping the steps has really contributed (plus fewer naughty treats). I’ve bought some new trousers still a 14 but they are slightly loose already round the waist which is so gratifying. Luckily they weren’t at all expensive. Maybe maybe in a month or so I will dare to try some size 12 bottoms. I’m already into the size 12 for tops and coats now which is something of a miracle. I’ve been craving things less this week I’m not sure why really it seems to go in phases. But I’d love to break into the 10 stone anything range …six more pounds to shed till I hit that milestone. It’s all incredibly slow but maybe that’s the healthy way to go (or at least the only way I can manage it). Hope everyone staying dry and cozy and not too stressed at lack of petrol. Round my way garage forecourts all shut. No queuing. Nada.

Been stuck at 102kg for ages. The odd day of 101.9!!!
slides up and down between 102.1 and 102.9 which is obviously a couple of pounds.

I've realised that all the time I am pottering along being 'mostly' good, then I maintain the weight perfectly, but I don't lose any.

I need to be good every day (except saturday Grin)

So I'm being strict about my 16:8 again. Day 3 and I am hungryhungryhungryhungry all morning. So last week I'd have had a banana = mostly good, one banana doesn't matter much after all.
This week, I'm sticking to it and I think the hungry feeling is definitely a result of actually losing weight.

Haven't weighed yet....

putthehamsterbackinitscage · 06/10/2021 17:45

Lots of pottering along here ... having a better week booze wise but have eaten the remains of a "healthier fruitcake" that I made as an experiment... it was really good and it was healthier as no added sugar - only sugar from the fruit and alcohol content, and it used almond/coconut flour instead of wheat flour... however it still contained a shit ton of dried fruit including cherries 😳 I will make it again for Christmas as it is much better than my previous Delua recipe and if I cut the cherries down and replace with nuts it will reduce carbs a bit.

@steppemum I think you are in the same place as me - need to get back on it and not kid myself that a treat here and there won't hurt...

I am refusing to weigh properly just now - the scales will not be kind, and tmi but I need a good clear out....

Hence why I am signed up to the next bootcamp to do bootcamp light in the run up to Christmas - hopefully BIWI and everyone on there will help me with accountability and sticking to plan...

So I have 12 days to the start of bootcamp to get my head straight and get back to plan.

Then I fully intend to try to stick to a moderate/low carb lifestyle once I reach target.

steppemum · 07/10/2021 09:57

bugger.
Really good, no 'odd treats.' No sneaky bananas before lunch. No cheating.

3 days.
Weighed myself this morning and STILL 102.2 kgs.

Babymamamama · 07/10/2021 11:24

I think you are hitting the dreaded plateau. It’s such a bugger.

What’s been happening is someone trying to troll our thread I wonder??

TrueGrit54 · 08/10/2021 09:18

I’m back, weighed myself and have put on almost 4 lbs. I do have my period so that won’t have helped.

Do we have a troll? Like it’s not hard enough Grin.

steppemum · 08/10/2021 10:43

I wondered that, I'd love to know what they said! Not the most exciting thread to troll!
TrueGrit54 · 08/10/2021 10:56

It’s a bit of excitement at this point! I would love to know too. I don’t think the investigation is a mumsnet HQ top priority somehow.

that's pants Sad

here's hoping it is period based and it all flies off in a few days Grin

putthehamsterbackinitscage · 08/10/2021 14:33

I think they posted on other threads too so my bet is advertising some sort of wonder pill.... like that's going to work 😤

Just got to keep on...
@TrueGrit54 I'm sure that 4lb is only temporary...

I made it to Wednesday without wine ... last night was just too easy to give in as we got back and ate late.. TBh I'm pretty much writing off the next week as we're away and it will involve pub trips and meals out.

Boot camp starts 18th so that will have to be the start of 6 weeks of being especially good.

Babymamamama · 09/10/2021 08:34

Happy weekend all. Is everyone keeping on keeping on? My weight has begun shifting again hallelujah and I’m starting to feel slightly more optimistic that my target to get under 11 stone before Xmas may possibly be within my reach. I was reflecting on my stats this morning (Fun I know) ….Since this time last year I’ve lost two stone so I need to give myself a bit of credit - I think when the weight loss is so interminably slow and with so many blips I forget the positives. I’m just going to try to continue with the one meal day and as many steps as I can reasonably fit in. Ive given up the idea now of getting back into the gym in 2021. Being totally honest with myself I think that’s ship has sailed for now and as usual I may felt more inclined in the springtime again. I’m thinking ahead to Xmas (help!) and avoiding the usual gains around that time. I’m going to avoid the usual piles/boxes of chocs around the house. DD isn’t bothered and it’s inevitably me who ends up eating them. I need to save my calories for that mulled wine as if I’m not allowed that I may as well cancel Christmas.

TrueGrit54 · 11/10/2021 10:52

Babymamamama congratulations on losing 2 stone in the last 12 months. I am really impressed and inspired.

I have regained 6 lbs in the last 4 weeks. Totally deserved as I haven’t been sticking to it.

I need to buckle down and set some goals for before Christmas. I really like this thread as it’s other 50s so I feel we all get how hard it is, but it’s a shame it’s mainly 4 of us at the moment.

Good news is my period is finished. I have 26 lbs to lose and it’s 10 weeks (and a bit) to Christmas. I would be happy with losing 20 lbs which would bring me back to where I was before first lockdown. Losing 2lbs a week should be possible shouldn’t it!

How is everyone else?

Babymamamama · 11/10/2021 19:28

Thanks truegrit. I definitely feel nicer in my clothes with two stone off- I’ve even been getting a few compliments recently which were very unexpected but nice all the same. Yes I know what you mean about liking this thread….maybe we will get some returners to the thread after Christmas is out of the way? New years resolutions and all that. I thought the “troll” could have added another dimension to our chat but maybe they’ve found another bridge to hide under? Your goal of 2lbs per week sounds very realistic by the way. Go for it.

SunscreenCentral · 12/10/2021 21:41

Hello!!! Hooray you're here!

I've just booted my fasting timer up, and I'm on a push to lose a solid 7-10lbs or more before Christmas

I've been MIA for quite a while ladies
And I've got the blubber back to prove it

I'll weigh in in the am (couldn't face it now...)
And and a good read to see how you're all getting on

Babymamamama · 13/10/2021 09:54

Oooh welcome back sunscreen. Sounds like you are a woman on a mission. What kind of fasting have you got in mind?

herbaceous · 13/10/2021 14:01

Hi all! I've been MIA as a) haven't lost any weight, and b) have had covid. Hoped my lack of smell would cause me to lose my appetite. But sadly not.

TrueGrit54 · 13/10/2021 14:22

Hi Sunscreen, have you dared to weigh yet?

herbaceous sorry to hear that, are you fully recovered, how bad was it?

steppemum · 15/10/2021 17:15

morning all.

So the amazing news is that I've dropped from 102.5 kg to 99.5 kgs since Monday!

The bad news is that the reason I've dropped so much is that I've got Covid and I ate nothing for 3 days and only now eating dribs and drabs.
Bloody depressing that some of those are going back on, but I'm determined it won't all go back. It is about 6lbs so I am really hoping to only put 3 of those back max.

Trouble is, as I have to sit at home all next week isolating, feeling crap and not even walk the dog, it is going to end in chocolate biscuits isn't it?

steppemum · 15/10/2021 17:16

nobody told me that worst symptom of Covid would be nausea and vomiting Hmm

steppemum · 15/10/2021 17:17

Oh just seen you've had it too. It's a bugger. I have to say I still have all my taste buds, but I have lost my appetite
