Any Lardy fatties in their 50's want to join me in weight loss

Morning, I'm looking for some company in my quest to lose the lard.

I'm useless at dieting, I have managed to shift one stone since Christmas but I keep losing and gaining, rinse and repeat.

Anyone up for joining me.

3lb up and down seems to be so common... I can Cary by that from one day to the next smas well.

This is gaining after food or exercise most often not true gain but it's really disheartening and it just seems like it goes back on so easily.

I'm telling myself that this week as I have crept up a bit more but I've also started some basic strength training and I am gradually recovering from my weekend and sore muscles are easing.

Hopefully in a week or so I'll start to adapt to the added exercise and lose again... still have around 10lbs to target and I'd like to get there before December so that I can ease up a bit and get used to maintenance mode before Christmas.

Babymamamama · 16/09/2021 10:35

I’ve resolved to weigh myself less frequently. So no longer daily but maybe three times a week. Otherwise those tiny mini gains can be disheartening and I think they are sometimes just due to water retention etc or whatever. I’m still eating the one meal a day. I’ve really upped my veggies and started making concoctions with mixed random veg plus seasonings, bit of stock, garlic etc whatever is in the cupboard I just throw it together so it comes out like a kind of veggie stew. I’m actually enjoying that with a bit of protein alongside. And it makes me feel quite virtuous too. DD won’t touch it but she isn’t the overweight one I guess. My weakness is still the desserts but I’m only human Cake. The other day I had an amazing rice pudding with cinnamon on the top. I figure I need some pleasure in life if I’m forgoing two meals per day. How’s everyone doing with their plans?

TrueGrit54 · 16/09/2021 12:07

Hi gang, still plodding away here, sticking to plan pretty rigidly. Only fail this week was eating a big bag of Tyrells vegetable crisps. They’ve been in the cupboard for a couple of months and I finally caved. Not losing at the moment, can’t eat any less. It’s just terribly slow. I had hoped to lose 7 lbs in September but I’ve only lost and kept off 2 lbs so far.

steppemum · 17/09/2021 08:10

Morning.
Haven't done too badly over the last few days, I seen to be getting back into it.
But had to have breakfast today as heading out for long hike, and so my 16:8 is out of the window for today.

Refusing to weigh myself until there is some chance it says 101kg again Grin

putthehamsterbackinitscage · 17/09/2021 11:35

Morning @steppemum, morning all!

Enjoy your hike Steppemum... I have to work today but hope to get out and be active tomorrow- parkrun and a long walk...

@Babymamamama - there are days when I think about not weighing as often but I know if I don't weigh, it'll be easier to let things slip whereas weighing most days acts as a reminder of the need to stick to plan - doesn't stop me being fed up when the numbers go the wrong way though.

How did it get to be Friday again so quickly?
Weigh in day for me

Sw 10.10.4
Cw 9.1.4
GW 8.7.0

That's a 1lb loss from last Friday after being up earlier in the week - happy with that as I have had a couple of very strict days after meal out for my DS birthday.

Still sticking with mostly low carb, limited alcohol and trying to keep active. App says I may get to target by mid November.

Babymamamama · 17/09/2021 19:58

Evening @putthehamsterbackinitscage (and all the gang). You’ve inspired me to put down my stats finally…widely different from yours and still a way to go …..
SW 13.7 stone
CW 11.8
GW anything starting with a 10 really!
So the journey continues. And the dreaded temptations of the weekend are creeping up once again (sigh).

putthehamsterbackinitscage · 18/09/2021 19:15

Hey @Babymamamama weekend temptations are in full flow here...

McDonald's breakfast after parkrun - let DH order and ended up with breakfast plus latte, ice cream whilst on our walk, gin at the pub and now red wine

My carb target for the day is totally blown 😂

Babymamamama · 18/09/2021 21:23

Listen I think the odd blow out is par for the course! And you did a park run first right? The way I see that you just refuelling Wink.
My weaknesses today were slice of lemon drizzle cake and slice of Victoria sponge. Visited two households in succession for cups of tea so how could I refuse?Cake At least that’s my story. Now I’m trying to get back on track with an evening salad with a side order of G and T. I’m better in the week than at the weekends is what I’ve learnt thus far.

steppemum · 19/09/2021 09:32

well I am very surprised that I have hit the 101kgs again this morning.
Not been particularly good, but not bad bad if you know what I mean.

Right, back to it and down to under 100....

Babymamamama · 19/09/2021 09:39

You can do it steppemum. These blips are definitely part of this journey for us all. I’m going to try to do better today after too many carbs by far yesterday. Black Earl grey tea is my Sunday breakfast.

steppemum · 19/09/2021 13:59

sorry, that should say surprised and pleased - 101 is the lowest for ages, I hit it in August and have been 102 ever since!

Babymamamama · 19/09/2021 16:06

Ah I misunderstood! Nice one then…keep going …..

ingeborg3 · 20/09/2021 05:22

Good job, steppemum! I also lost one pound, little victories...

putthehamsterbackinitscage · 20/09/2021 07:25

Sorry - wasn't on line properly yesterday...

Thanks @Babymamamama for supporting us all this weekend... it was a bit of a blowout but matched by exercise too so yes. In hindsight not really an issue.

Parkrun was followed by a walk around Teggs nose and Macclesfield Forest area - 8 miles, then a long run yesterday to offset further wine and treats both Saturday night and last night.

Back on it today, scales are up only 1/4 lb so not bad at all 😃

putthehamsterbackinitscage · 20/09/2021 07:34

@Babymamamama - just Re read your post too... your stats aren't really that different you know...

You've lost more than you think and are well on your way to target - we have similar amounts to go I think....

Mine looks low as I'm not tall really and very small framed - think wrist size between 13 and 14 cm, bra size 28-30. I am definitely carrying the remaining excess around my hips and bum... currently 36 hips whereas at my target when younger they would have been 33.

@steppemum that's a good result - keep going - sub 100 soon!

@ingeborg3 - fab! Little victories all add up.

Babymamamama · 20/09/2021 12:33

@putthehamsterbackinitscage thanks for your encouraging words. Another hopeless weekend where in addition to cake I enjoyed pizza, chicken wraps and various other carb based delights. I’ve gained two pounds. It’s to be expected I guess so I’m on the black coffee today as my penance to get a reset onto the right track. I’ve realised I’m so good in the week it’s like my willpower utterly dissolves at the weekends as soon as I start to relax. Maybe I’m doing some kind of 5/2 thing unofficially.

TrueGrit54 · 22/09/2021 13:12

I’ve let things slide here, DD had a bad cold (not covid but her group of friends had covid so there was daily testing and worry as we are an asthmatic family) and was off school. Decided to give myself 2 days off plan and that drifted to 4 days. Regained 2 lbs, back up to 10st 9 lbs and BMI of 25. Might not sound bad but my waist is over 40 inches.

Trying to skip lunch and breakfast, dinner is 2 beef burgers and salad.

putthehamsterbackinitscage · 24/09/2021 13:09

I had a fuck it moment last night - red wine and chocolate ice cream, combined with an easy week in terms of exercise ... result of which is scales are back up to 9.2.6 today.

Will hopefully get back to it next week as today is the weekend - dinner out tomorrow and possibly lunch as well - I do have a half marathon to run though so will burn some off ....

Babymamamama · 24/09/2021 22:55

At least you’re running putthehamsterbackinitscage, I’m struggling to do even half my ten thousand steps per day this week. Too busy with work and life I guess. I’m wondering if I need to start fasting at the weekends as they are so often my downfall. I’m on another plateau haven’t lost anything this week, even though still only on the one meal a day. I’m going to try to avoid alcohol completely this weekend although I’m not by any stretch a big drinker I think my resolve weakens when I’ve had a glass and I end up on wrong foods alongside. I’d love to lose another half stone to stone before Christmas. How to make that happen that is the question.

putthehamsterbackinitscage · 27/09/2021 07:18

@Babymamamama alcohol totally is the problem... and wine is the worst... once I start it's hard to stop...

I've had a weekend of bad ....

Friday night food good, but wine...
Saturday half marathon followed by dirty fries and beer, restaurant and wine, more wine - lots of wine

Sunday- food ok, made some low-ish carb chocolate ice cream for a treat but then there was gin and wine...

Back on low carb no booze now until the weekend ... ignoring the scales!

Babymamamama · 27/09/2021 10:02

@putthehamsterbackinitscage you are so right re alcohol. I’m cutting it out for now and I think I’m also going to try a fast next weekend! My excuse this weekend was pre booked social events. I cooked a big roast on Sunday for guests so i just had to enjoy it. I also had some choc ice cream it tasted amazing but I’m regretting it today. I’m determined to shed two pounds this week. It just has to be done. Extra steps and more discipline with the food choices are both required.

TrueGrit54 · 27/09/2021 11:34

Similar story here putthehamsterbackinitscage and Babymamamama I’ve been drinking wine every evening which leads to crisps. No wine in the house now and no fuel in our area. We are in the countryside so it looks like I am not drinking for a few days as we need to conserve the fuel we have. I’ve regained another pound, so that’s a gain of 4 lbs in the last 2 weeks. Dreadful. 13 weeks to Christmas and 24 lbs to lose.

Going to try and have a strict 7 days. No alcohol, low carb, no processed food.

B: coffee
L: boiled egg
D: chicken fillet, cauliflower, green beans

Babymamamama · 28/09/2021 17:12

Ok I’m getting back on track managed to clock up 11 000 steps today fasting all day and now had a yum veg concoction with steamed fish. Wish I could be this good every day. I’m going to hold off on the weigh ins for couple more days and praying the numbers shift a bit.

putthehamsterbackinitscage · 29/09/2021 11:52

So yesterday was another bad day... but there are less treats in the house now 😉

More wine and 2 x mini magnum 😳

Trying to have a bit more control today... yoghurt berries and almond butter for breakfast and planning a low carb curry for dinner with cauliflower and a dollop of yoghurt

Lunch will be salad with either eggs or cooked meat from the fridge....

TrueGrit54 · 29/09/2021 12:05

Plodding on here. God it’s slow. We go away on Monday for twice postponed wedding anniversary break. Fancy hotel by the sea. I will have to see what fits at some point, sighs. Though we don’t have any fuel at the moment, none around here.

Smoked mackerel for lunch. Not sure what’s for dinner.
