@TheRealHousewife has given me the honour of starting our new thread so here we go....

I can't work out how to copy her helpful links over but if you go
to thread you can look them up and also read the thread and get a feel for if this is the place for you.

We are a friendly bunch with lots of support, advice, hand holding and no judgement at all.

I am doing Intermittent Fasting and run several times a week. Others are calorie counting and walking lots. All our welcome. Post as little or as much as you want. I didn't post my weight for months and was still fully welcomed and involved.

@HalfShrunkMoreToGo is our star pupil with spreadsheets but we have all done really well and I am proud of each and everyone of you.

Here's to a good month and let's get going.

Sunshine brilliant running results- wowsers! Enjoy your Baileys (I rarely drink, but in December I buy a bottle of Baileys and drink it all month- delicious). I hope it wasn't too stressful a meeting, or even if it was you got the answers you need.

Welcome oodeed1988 we're all here to help and listen.

SunshineCake · 05/05/2021 19:49

I was still glowing from knocking off three minutes for my same distance in March time. I don't run exactly the same each time so I checked and that was the result. I'll definitely go again tomorrow now I'm on a roll and just ate a load of chocolate peanuts when I'm supposed to be fasting.

Meeting went well in that the other person was very understanding, kind and pleasant but while DD has got her wish I'm disappointed. Things will be happening to make sure no other student ever goes through this again.

And fwiw I think you have done nothing wrong as per the other thread. I thought it sounded lovely, the two of you. 🐢🐢

@Ionacat and @132orbust - thanks for your recommendations but in the end, after having had two tooth extra ted, my son just did not fancy Pret in the end!
So I am a lovely soup, 600ml for 234calories, quite filling! (Spinach and lentils)

Welcome @00deed1988

Sorry to hear you have a stressful day @Crazzzycat im struggling with one too... blah!

Ive ended uo eating 20cals less than my allowance for today so all good!!! Good night all

Puffalicious · 06/05/2021 08:08

Thanks Sunshine i was just trying to give a different perspective. I understand some people have had awful experiences but it's shitty when people are unkind. I love my friend so much- I suppose only we know our relationship. 🐢🐢

Glad you got some closure with the school at least and DD is satisfied.

Crazzzycat · 06/05/2021 10:14

Sorry to hear you have been having stressful days too @SunshineCake and @tostaky. Can’t say I blame you for have a drink Sunshine. I hope you enjoyed it!

I did a bit better on the calories yesterday, although I must confess that the urge to just keep eating was strong. I resisted though, which is the main thing! I did a 30 minute session on the cross trainer too. I find exercise a much more effective way of dealing with stress, but unfortunately eating and snacking is often a lot easier to fit into the day than exercise is Grin

Have a good day everyone!

daisyjgrey · 06/05/2021 10:58

Can I join?

I weigh a fair bit more than others who have posted their weight so I'm going to hold off on that for a bit!

I started calorie counting (1600 allowance using MFP) last Monday (26th) and I'd lost 3lb when I weighed myself this Monday, so that's some progress. I don't have a goal weight, my intention is just to plod along until I'm happier with what I see.

Do any of you keep food diaries on instagram? I'm debating keeping one just for my own brain satisfaction but sometimes it's helpful to look at others, if only for ideas.

Arbadacarba · 06/05/2021 12:53

Hello, @daisyjgrey. 3lb is a great start; well done! I don't keep a food diary, I'm afraid. I agree with taking a flexible approach to goal weight.

Crazzzycat · 06/05/2021 14:20

Welcome @daisyjgrey! I think there’s a lot to be said for not getting too fixated on numbers, so plodding along until you’re happy sounds like a sensible approach to me!

Puffalicious · 06/05/2021 14:53

I'm soooooo excited! After losing the same 5lbs twice over I have finally, finally broken the 2 stone barrier! It's taken over 6 months of slow and steady wins the race thinking. Lost 2lbs this week taking me 1lb over the 2 stone loss. Just 13lbs to go until target. It's been so frustrating seeing all the other great losses over the months but this thread has absolutely kept me going. You are all magic!

SW 13 st 12lbs
CW 11 st 11 lbs
GW 10 st 12 lbs

Welcome daisyjgrey so good to meet you. Reveal as much or as little as you like, noone here is judging as we're all in this together. Positivity is the name of the game.

SunshineCake · 06/05/2021 16:40

I'll be back in a bit. Welcome to all newbies and well done for all achievements.

CocoaMojo · 06/05/2021 16:41

@Puffalicious that is inspirational, well done!
Hello @daisyjgrey!
@SunshineCake sounds like you are having a tough time but congrats on the running!

I'm about 1lb off from last week. Joining the 🐢 crew, playing the long game. A cheeky glass of wine snuck in last night. Looking forward to salmon, pesto and veggies for dinner.

Puffalicious · 06/05/2021 16:52

Cocoamojo the 🐢🐢🐢crew are now a threesome!!! Yeah!!! We need you over here. Well done: 1lb is 1lb. I'd take 1lb a week every week no bother at all.

Arbadacarba · 06/05/2021 16:56

@Puffalicious Yay! Well done!

SunshineCake · 06/05/2021 18:53

You can have both @Crazzzycat. Just make sure one is bigger than the other !

Welcome @daisyjgrey. There is no pressure to post anything you don't want to. It was months before I posted my weight and I wasn't the largest. Join in as much as you want. You have made a great start.

Huge well done @Puffalicious!!! It is such a moment , isn't it when you achieve a mile stone. Congrats Star.

Welcome 🐢 @CocoaMojo and a pound is a pound. I didn't even lose that this week, just 0.8 of a pound so be proud!

I'm struggling tonight. Only positive is I don't feel rubbish that I ate four biscuits. Normally I'd hate myself. I had salad and a bagel for lunch with left over roasted baby potatoes and curry for tea, just the chicken and sauce with one spoonful of rice, no naan, no poppadoms. So calorie wise I can handle it I would guess, especially as I ran then walked the dog. Emotionally feel down. Worrying about dc who isn't having a great time at school and I am really worried about results day. I'm sat on my bed in my own. Hiding from the world. Things get to me to a ridiculous degree and I wish they didn't. I have been through worse things, I can't do anything about it, dh will sort anything that needs sorting or if dc needs help and I just feel tearful. I was awake for what felt like more than an hour in the night too so feel tired.

@HalfShrunkMoreToGo. We miss you. Hope you are okay.

OP posts:
Crazzzycat · 06/05/2021 22:08

Well done on that loss @Puffalicious! A pound is a very respectable loss @CocoaMojo, so congrats to you too!

Sorry to hear you are struggling @SunshineCake. I hope you have all the real life support you need to get you to feel better soon. In the meantime, I wouldn’t worry about a biscuit (or four). That’s not going to undo all the great work you’ve done over the past few months

tostaky · 06/05/2021 23:31

Oh @SunshineCake i know things get hard sometimes. I find having a cup of tea with a friend the best remedy.. is there anyone you can talk to this weekend? Or walk the dog with? Sending you big hugs.Brew

@Puffalicious Amazing! Well done! Slow and steady or even slow and wobbly are good! I hope you are proud of yourself!

I resisted a fresh loaf of sourdough bread and some dark choc brownies i bought for the kids so yay me!! I still over ate at dinner... i can't believe how many calories there is in rice!!! I need to get potatoes as an alternative.
Tomorrow i have a meeting with DC1 school ... Confusedspecial needs so i am preparing all my arguments... i hate those meetings...

SunshineCake · 07/05/2021 06:49

Thank you @Crazzzycat and @tostaky. I feel a bit better this morning as I slept all night but even as I type that I can feel the anxiety starting. I need to not let it grip me. I am seeing a friend this morning to walk our dogs but I won't talk to her about it. She doesn't have children but has very strong opinions on child related things. I'd probably end up feeling worse.

Well done on resisting the bread and cookies. Don't worry about the big dinner. Sometimes we all need a bit more food. I love rice but can't eat much of it as I am intolerant and I'm surprised it is high in calories. I would have guessed that potatoes were higher if done as mash or roast. Hope your meeting goes well.

I have decided not to run today as I really want to run on Sunday and feel seven consecutive days might be too much. Given my plans today it is easier if I miss today and run tomorrow rather than vice versa.

No idea what we are eating today. Still trying to empty the freezer and pantry. Last night I was thinking I wanted to make a giant macaroni cheese but I think a pasta bake without tonnes of cheese would be better !

Have a good day everyone.

OP posts:
Ionacat · 07/05/2021 07:57

@SunshineCake, hope the walk helps, anxiety is the pits. I love a pasta bake - one of my favourites.

Good luck @tostaky.

And fab news on the weight loss everyone.

I’m not feeling it today, it’s been a tough couple of weeks at work, and it’s very tempting to just collapse on the sofa with chocolate later. However, I did get myself lots of really lovely bath bombs with the aim of having baths instead as I’m generally not tempted to get out and head to the kitchen.

Thatusernamewastaken · 07/05/2021 09:09

Had chocolate cake for breakfast.....
It's a keto cake that I made, so is ok!
Hard to the find the energy to cook bacon and eggs, which I have been having most mornings. Don't think I'll ever eat bacon again after this diet Grin

132orbust · 07/05/2021 09:58

Oh @SunshineCake I know how we worry about our DC Flowers This time last year we were so concerned about how DD1 would cope if she lost her med school place with A Levels being so up in the air. DD2 was also waiting for GCSE results and now this year has missed out on her AS's. She worries a little about being in DD1 shadow and would have loved a chance to prove herself but no go. A hand hold for results day and the months leading up to it. Comfort yourself with the fact that good parents stress - I award you a Halo

Crazzzycat · 07/05/2021 10:09

Glad to hear you are feeling a little bit better @SunshineCake. Sometimes I find that just being outside can make a difference to anxiety levels.

Bathbombs sound like a good distraction @Ionacat. As I’ve said before stress is such a diet killer! Stay strong 💪

I had a bit of a weird day yesterday. Stress levels were, once again, through the roof after a senior member of staff described the work I’ve been doing over the past two years as “a bit of a waste of time” 😒

I left the meeting feeling ready to devour a massive bag of crisps (and punch the guy!), but decided to go for a 30 minute session on the exercise bike first. I pushed myself a little too hard and lost my appetite completely. I couldn’t even manage dinner, so just had a yoghurt and a banana instead. Clearly my appetite is all over the place this week!

Wiebsa · 07/05/2021 10:30

Hi everyone, so sorry I disappeared (I joined in April and lost 6 lbs). I’ve been ill since Bank Holiday and had to abandon diet and my walks. Feeling better today and will get back on it. I just weighed and have regained 3 lbs. Thats ok, I am grateful not to have regained it all.

Looking forward to reading May’s thread from the beginning. Well done Puffalicious on losing 2 stone!

notlisteningwithmother · 07/05/2021 11:33

I didn't do the Wednesday weigh-in but all the stories here are a real motivator - both the weight loss and the recognition that sometimes life just gets in the way of ambitions. I'm in that deluded period a few days into healthy eating and exercise when I imagine that it has made a big difference. Wake up call on its way!

I found Chloe Ting's online workouts after searching around on MN for recommendations. I know the advice is to complete three short workouts in one session, but at the moment I'm just slotting them when I have 15 minutes of free time.

So far I've learned that my aerobic fitness is not great, and my arm muscles and core strength are at next to nothing. Healthy eating will help with weight loss, but I really do need to move myself more. I normally cycle to work but after working from home for the last year means this daily dose of exercise just hasn't happened.

SunshineCake · 07/05/2021 14:09

Hi everyone

Had a lovely walk with the doggies. DCs assessment went well though they forgot the meaning of something and answered the question really well, just not the question that was asked!

Only just had lunch as been busy all morning and about to go back out and do some more weeding if the rain holds off.

It is always a good idea to have a plan @Ionacat to stop us eating through boredom. I used to paint my nails as a distraction. I hope you enjoy your bath bombs.

Cake for breakfast is allowed @Thatusernamewastaken as long as it filled you up until your next meal.

Thank you @132orbust and good luck to your dd too. Last year I was relieved if wasn't mine and now it is both of them. A teacher has badly let dc down so they won't get the A they were on course forSad Angry.

Thanks @Crazzzycat and good choice you made there. I'd have been your alibi should you have decided punching him was the right action!

Welcome back @Wiebsa and sorry you have been ill. Kudos for only gaining three pounds.

Could you take a lunch break to cycle @notlisteningwithmother?
