@TheRealHousewife has given me the honour of starting our new thread so here we go....

I can't work out how to copy her helpful links over but if you go
to thread you can look them up and also read the thread and get a feel for if this is the place for you.

We are a friendly bunch with lots of support, advice, hand holding and no judgement at all.

I am doing Intermittent Fasting and run several times a week. Others are calorie counting and walking lots. All our welcome. Post as little or as much as you want. I didn't post my weight for months and was still fully welcomed and involved.

@HalfShrunkMoreToGo is our star pupil with spreadsheets but we have all done really well and I am proud of each and everyone of you.

Here's to a good month and let's get going.

Thanks @Ionacat. Probably won't get to have it but I'll be keeping trying. Well done on your run 🦞

@Puffalicious I think those biscuits are so overrated but people seem to love them! there's about 126 other delicious things I'd rather eat!
I couldn't stop myself having a treat at the garden centre today, it was a totally delicious butterscotch and walnut tart thing. But I made DH split it with me and had a lemon and ginger tea rather than a cappuccino, then went for a 5k run after so hoping that will make up for it.
been a bit slack with IF so back on that properly for the rest of the week now.

SunshineCake · 03/05/2021 20:00

Sounds like you made great choices while also enjoying your snack @CocoaMojo.

Morning everyone, it's cold but sunny here so can get out, yay. Nothing like being stuck indoors with a 2 and 5 year old Confused

Today I'm going to get in a run, wk3 on couch25k.

Hope you all have good days x

Arbadacarba · 04/05/2021 07:47

Ah, new thread, great!

I was 1lb down at the weekend - so still 1lb up on two weeks ago but at least I didn't go up again. I'll catch up on the full thread after work!

notlisteningwithmother · 04/05/2021 09:20

Joining in for the first time.

Target loss - 2 pounds per week would be good, so half a stone down by the end of the month.

How?
(1) Diet needs an overhaul after bad habits sneaking back in over the Easter holidays, and staying!
(2) Exercise, exercise, exercise. Does anyone have any recommendations about exercise for weight loss and for toning on e.g. YouTube? There's some 'dead' time at various parts of the day when I could probably fit half an hour in. I might be able to access Zwift via DP subscription but I'd need cycling shoes.
(3) Distraction. Still working from home at the moment so trying to step outside, clean the loo, anything rather than open the biscuit tin when the urge strikes. Honestly, it is boredom and habit.

I was part of a different thread in March and found it really helpful. Hoping to turn May into my 'back to reality' month.

132orbust · 04/05/2021 12:47

Very very quick check in:
Day 120
SW:151
CW:138
GW:132
So up 1.5lbs after the bank holiday weekend which I don't feel too bad about.
Will fast until dinner then see where we are tomorrow morning.

SunshineCake · 04/05/2021 14:01

Hope your run went well @Terrysmyorange.

A loss is a loss, @Arbadacarba even if you are losing the same pound you've already lost. I know all about thatHmm.

Welcome @notlisteningwithmother. Have you left the other thread or are you testing us out? Grin. I go running so don't know about YouTube exercise programmes but I'm sure someone will.

Hope your fast brings results @132orbust.

Tomorrow is WOW day. Weigh on Wednesday for those that want to join in and just weigh once a week.

I went running again today as will tomorrow to try and get a bit extra in in the hope it will kick start some decent weight loss.

Welcome @notlisteningwithmother. Sounds like you have a good plan in place. I agree that distraction is key, especially at the start. It does get a lot easier once you’re used to having other/ better ways of dealing with boredom, but the first week or so can be hard.

I’d love to join you with WOW @SunshineCake, but I do WOM (weigh on Mondays). My FitBit calculates calorie deficits on a weekly basis, from Monday to Sunday, so I’m kind of stuck with that. I was highly sceptical when I just got started about the FitBit estimates for calories burnt (900 kcals for a 1.5 hour walk?!), but now that I’ve been using it for a few weeks those numbers turn out to give a reasonably accurate estimate of how much weight I’ve lost that week. Anyway, I hope you see some encouraging numbers on those scales tomorrow Sunshine!

SunshineCake · 04/05/2021 18:09

No probs @Crazzzycat. I just mentioned it as we seemed to have forgotten that was what we used to do. Everyone must weigh on the days it suits them. We can rejoice every day in losses as it seems that we all do different days.

I just looked up a walk. I I'd 1 hour 25 minutes 51 seconds. Mild. 313 cals. I once did a while on the bike and it said I had burnt 1000 calories but a poster said no way that was right. I don't see why not since it knew my age, sex, weight so who is to know?

Puffalicious · 04/05/2021 18:49

Had a great day- then the honey roasted nuts called to me! Blush

SunshineCake · 04/05/2021 19:10

Do some extra steps, Puff. Then they won't count!

OP posts:
Puffalicious · 04/05/2021 19:47

Would love to but I’m marking all night! Bah!

Ionacat · 04/05/2021 20:33

Had a good day so far but now trying to avoid eating lots more. Husband is sat eating chocolate next to me. I’ve got some more work to do so hopefully it will distract me! Hoping to get a run in tomorrow morning.

I need to order a Fitbit - haven’t done so as yet but I think it will help on those days like today where I’ve been very stationery and could do with moving around a bit more.

SunshineCake · 04/05/2021 21:54

Tomorrow then Puff. Will still count.

Well done if you didn't succumb to the chocolate, Iona, or hitting your dh with it for eating it next to you.

Running again tomorrow for me.

Have a good night all.

tostaky · 05/05/2021 06:51

Morning!

Good on you for going running - id love to but my pelvic floor os so weak and the extra weight doesnt help... perhaps when i'll reach the 70s kg...

No fitbit for me but i ise the step counter on my phone. It is not generous when it comes to calories lost when walking... Sad

I weighted myself this morning and same weight as last week... i was expecting that because i went over my calories on thu/fri/sun... still disappointed...

I need to take child 2 to hospital for something and as we will be passing next to a Pret a manger, i told him he could get his favorite sandwich for lunch. I may try to get one of their salad instead of a sandwich...

Ionacat · 05/05/2021 07:29

I’m down 2lbs to 12st 10. Think that is mainly water as I spent most of yesterday needing the toilet. But I’ll take it! I did not succumb to the chocolate! I have my post lockdown haircut to look forward to and then planning a run this evening as I have to finish some work first thing.

@tostaky Is it worth looking up their menu in advance and planning what you’re going to have? I’ve found that works in the past and also have been caught out by calorific salads.......

132orbust · 05/05/2021 07:59

Day 121
SW:151
CW:137
GW:132
1lb down another 0.5lbs to go to get back to lowest weight. Longer fast worked.
@toskaky may I recommend this with a skinny latte?
www.pret.ae/en-ae/our-menu/ae0111-prets-hot/725-chipotle-chicken-toastie
The combo always keeps no brekkie me full until dinner and is absolutely delicious too!
Will check in properly tomorrow - onwards and inwards!

Reachforthestars00 · 05/05/2021 08:19

Good luck for your mid weekly weigh-ins today. I weigh on Sundays. I went down with a cold on BH Monday, so skipped my run yesterday. Feeling a bit bleugh - but I've managed to stay clear of biscuits and chocolates, so pleased with that. Starting to feel a little better now.

SunshineCake · 05/05/2021 10:45

Good morning everyone Grin. I'm very very happy Smile.

Huge WELL DONE @Ionacat on not succumbing to the chocolate. I note you didn't deny walloping DH for eating next to you Wink. Also great stuff on your weight loss. You'll have more after your hair cut Wink.

@tostaky I agree about the phone. I used mine and it wasn't believable. Sometimes it seemed to being generous and other times the opposite. Thankfully DH bought me a proper watch though I only found out yesterday how much he paid and it was Shock. You will find an exercise that suits you in time. Hope the hospital appointment goes fine and pick a lovely protein heavy salad for your lunch. Also, don't be too down hearted at being the same. We have all had weeks where we have stayed the same or crept up slightly and then suddenly had a great loss.

@HalfShrunkMoreToGo where are yoooouuuu? Hope you are okay.

Well done @132orbust. All counts and well down for reaching your lowest weight and doing a longer fast.

That is a huge win @Reachforthestars00. Hope you feel better soon.

Well, my news. I went running. Just did 6.61km which is the shorter of my three runs this week as I felt it in parts and disliked most of the whole time I was running. Felt I was slow. Checked my stats and for what is the first time ever, I think, every km was run at 6 minutes something! I came believe it. It felt such hard work. Then I weighed myself and I am down. Only 0.8lb in the week but I started at 14 stone in October 2018 and when I started running on May 9th 2020 I was 12 stone 9 so I am getting there. Almost a three stone loss from October and slowly getting towards the two stone loss from the year of running.

Right. Enough from me. Hope you are all okay and have a good day. I've got a meeting in school. Eeek.

Also, @fallfallfall and @MrsJonesAndMe and @Foreverlexicon

Congrats on all those losses! 🥳 And well done on your run @SunshineCake. I too have found that my brain can so easily trick me into thinking I did much better or worse than I actually did. No idea what that is all about!

I didn’t have the best day yesterday. I think my stress levels are still too high to really “get into the zone”. On a more positive note, I had a 30 minute session on the exercise bike yesterday and really pushed myself. I had a big loss on Monday, in spite of going over calories twice last week, so I’ve concluded from that that the overall picture/ trend is still positive. So, I’m just going to keep going and try to do the best I can every day Smile

SunshineCake · 05/05/2021 11:48

Thank you @Crazzzycat.

I'm sorry things are stressful for you but double points for still exercising even when most of us would have dived into a chocolate cake. You are doing great. Trying is always positive and even if the scales done go down there is still a positive to be found.

OP posts:
Crazzzycat · 05/05/2021 13:47

Thanks SunshineCake. My manager is on the case, so stress levels will hopefully start to go down soon. Interesting to note the effect it’s having on my appetite though. Stress is definitely a diet killer!

00deed1988 · 05/05/2021 15:54

Hi. Can I join?

I have always been 'big' even as a child. I ballooned after I had my son 6 years ago and then 4 years ago I did slimming world. I lost 5 stone and went from a size 20 to a size 10. Smallest I have ever been.

Then I started letting it slip and then lockdown came. I have put it all back on and then some and am now weighing in at 17st 4lb yesterday when I weighed myself. I feel so unhealthy and ashamed I let myself get back to this when I loved being slim and running and just feeling healthy.

I have signed up to Noom. I am planning on doing exercise at home for the time being until I feel comfortable enough to venture out running/swimming again. Cooking from scratch. Bringing lunch with me to work. Batch cooking. Getting back into good habits. I don't drink alcohol now which last time I did so at least that is 1 temptation gone.

I hope this time I can do it and make it a lifelong change. I just don't want to spend the rest of my life yo-yoing! Sorry for the long post Blush

SunshineCake · 05/05/2021 17:13

Fingers crossed @Crazzzycat. I've just had a stressful meeting in school and have poured myself a Baileys. I rarely drink, never mind at this time, but I want it, it is Wednesday so won't weigh for a week Wink and I am savouring it which is the point when having something calorific.

Welcome @00deed1988. Well done on your previous success. You e done it before so can do it again. You have a good plan there. Well all support you and if you want there is the April thread, and many before that, to read to see all about us.
