Eating more fruit and veg

Starting this to keep me accountable!
I am lazy with fruit/veg, I like it and eat most stuff if it's put in front of me
Decided rather than a "diet" I want to up my fruit, veg and salad and that way naturally cut down on the processed carbs etc as hopefully I should be fuller from the more low calorie/high volume stuff

Tonight's meal
Cheese (I did weigh 30g as well, cheese is life), mushroom omelette with salad
White chocolate protein yoghurt with strawberries (I only eat them when British ones are out and these were delicious)

Feel free to add ideas or join in please

Strawberries and raspberries
Pasta which had tomatoes, onion, garlic, peppers and courgette in
Plus the greens drink

Will post pics tomorrow to keep me on track

Yesterday was
Half avocado on toast, strawberries
Prawn salad sandwich, pear
Steak sandwich with chargrilled courgettes, peppers and salad

Just realised how carb heavy that was, however all the bread was multigrain.

QueenPaw · 11/04/2021 11:15

Breakfast of frozen raspberries blasted in the microwave plus Greek yoghurt
Will buy them frozen again, really tasty

Ooh, can I join in? I lost a fair bit of weight 3 years ago by basically eating more veg and fewer carbs but a stone has crept back on during lockdown. I was literally just saying to DH that from tomorrow I'm getting back on the wagon. Today I had Greek yoghurt, fruit and seeds for breakfast but lunch was not so healthy - we had lots of cheese and pate that needed finishing. I did have some salad with it but also lots of bread!

Wildernesstips · 11/04/2021 19:22

B: Half avocado on toast
L: Egg Mayo roll, apple
D: Roast chicken, potatoes, swede & carrot mash, Brussel sprouts, baked beetroot with onions & rosemary. Had a lot of veg that needed eating up.

For dinner, I tried to fill over half my plate with the vegetables.

QueenPaw · 12/04/2021 12:05

B - marmite rice cakes and eggs as usual!
L - wafer thin chicken, gherkins, salad on a thin and cucumber sticks

L: Hummus and leftover roasted red pepper sandwich, apple
D: West African Peanut stew and rice (contained sweet potato, tinned tomatoes, black eyed beans and chard)

Hadn’t thought about garlic mushrooms as a jacket potato topping before - love mushrooms!

QueenPaw · 12/04/2021 19:34

@Wildernesstips neither had I but it was good! I just cooked the mushrooms with some garlic and stirred some cream cheese in. Would be lovely with Boursin

Your salads look lovely OP!

Why have I never thought of putting gherkins in salad before?? I’m going to try it next shopping day !

QueenPaw · 13/04/2021 19:41

@MabelPines I just have a mild obsession Blush
Tend to eat the same thing for weeks then go totally off it

B: Toast, strawberries
L: Scrambled egg, toast, tomatoes
D: Cheese & onion crispbread with courgette, fennel and beetroot

QueenPaw · 14/04/2021 22:28

Rubbish day and I'm ashamed to post it Blush
B - marmite rice cakes and eggs
L - chicken thin, salad, gherkins, baked crisps, 2 pieces chocolate
Snack - peanut butter on a banana
Second snack - bowl of crunchy nut
Tea - chicken and homemade coleslaw

I'm struggling with carb/sweet cravings

Wildernesstips · 15/04/2021 06:52

Don’t be ashamed, it’s about increasing your fruit/veg not berating yourself for the odd snack. I don’t include my snacks in my posts mainly because there are no fruit/veg in them 😂

Wildernesstips · 15/04/2021 21:45

Really forced the 5 a day in today
B: toast, half a mango
L: tuna sandwich with scant bit of salad, satsumas
D: chicken arrabbiata stew (contained tomatoes), kale, purple sprouting
S: apple & rhubarb juice

Asvan · 15/04/2021 21:55

OP interesting thread. I'm currently trying to do a similar diet and have been tracking my calories on MFP.

How are you feeling after a week of healthy eating?
Have you been weighing yourself?

I'm on day 3 of my diet so just would just like to get an idea of when I can see results.

QueenPaw · 16/04/2021 12:33

I feel absolutely no different! And no scale change

OP posts:
QueenPaw · 16/04/2021 16:06

A bit low on salad now as food shop day tomorrow
So far gherkins, banana and will have some strawberries later

SchrodingersImmigrant · 16/04/2021 16:48

To feel the difference, I am afraid you might have to add some more substantial veg.
Cauliflower, broccoli, carrots, green beans, etc. My dh felt the difference after he started eating similarly to me. Which means loads of veg in everything.

SchrodingersImmigrant · 16/04/2021 16:50

Yesterday I was lazy so I basically just eat pack of tenderstem broccoli, pack of green beans, fillet of white fish, all with harisa seasoning. I was lazy to wash up and this was a one pan thing😂
