He did the whole "for your health" bmi needs to be lower speech. What a bugger. He came at me from a kind and supportive approach but was very categorical that I need to lose weight.

He is totally right. I've been trying to ignore and doing lots of comfort eating.

Now what the hell do I do

@Kattenzz

I'm 5ft4 and 170lbs. It's a bmi of approx 28.8

It's really interesting to me how different weights fit different clothes sizes.

I'm 5ft4, 138lbs and I'm also a size 12!

And I'm 5'7", weigh 140lb. My BMI is 21.9, and I am aslo a size 12.
PickAChew · 19/03/2021 22:00

5'4 and 10st4 and a busty 14!

RampantIvy · 19/03/2021 22:02

Too much wine Blush
I can really spell also.

renallychallenged · 19/03/2021 22:20

I'm a size 12 and im also definitely overweight by at least a stone, probably 2.

You are right to take control now OP

ChasingRainbows19 · 19/03/2021 22:23

OP I thought you were going to say a lot heavier tbh. Anyway if you are uncomfortable at the weight you are now he has probably tuned into that too.

Why can’t some people on here( not op) accept people have natural body types that mean they can be the same clothing size as a lighter person. Weight can be carried very differently. I’ve never been the lower end of my BMI range even as a young adult.

I’ve no idea what I weigh as I don’t own scales but I’m a size twelve mostly. I’m probably at least 70kg. I spin 2/3 times a week, do yoga, resistance workouts and long walks, 12 hour shifts on a ward. I’ve no fat rolls.

On the BMI I’m classed as overweight. I’m not very muscular but I’ve got strong thighs and bottom naturally. I’ve never been skinny. But I am healthy I eat a properly balanced diet. No cutting out food groups and lots of nutrients. I’m healthy with no current health issues at 42.

MrsBobDylan · 20/03/2021 08:32

OP size is so deceptive. I must have a small frame (or am good at squeezing into clothes!!) because I am overweight and wear a 12 too.

I would suggest finding a good thread on here to join (I'm on the 'no boring weight loss talk' one and it's hilarious and supportive).

I do calorie counting via an app and eat everything type of food just less of it. I don't like the word 'no'!

Number3BigCupOfTea · 20/03/2021 08:38

Where do you buy these roomy size 12s?
I'm about 130lbs and size 12

But at 170lbs, he is not wrong.............. How have you been feeling? If you feel like you'd like to lose some weight then take him out of the equation and do it for you.

zzizzer · 20/03/2021 08:45

I've been the same weight for at least three months now, but have gone down a size because I've developed more muscle and "toned up".

So the same weight can look very different on the same person - let alone different people. It's one of the weirder things to realise.

It sounds like you're in a lovely supportive relationship OP, it's a bit sad that others would see this as an attack and even sadder that in some relationships it would be.

Roszie · 20/03/2021 10:52

@SchrodingersImmigrant what face massager did you buy? I want one!

SchrodingersImmigrant · 20/03/2021 11:01

"we have a show on after Xmas called operation transformation. they pick 5 leaders each year and with a range if experts they allocate a meal plan exercise plan etc for them and their journey is followed for 8 weeks. it's huge here"

Now I know where the Welsh series Ffit Cymru comes from. They give quite a bit of attention to the psychological issues around people's overeating.

Roszie · 20/03/2021 14:07

@SchrodingersImmigrant brill, I've just ordered a similar one. Thank you.

Yes I'm 5'3, and 140lbs and also a 12. I was 150ish lbs last year and went up to a 14. I think because it all gathers on my arse and chest rather than dispersing equally over my body!
SchrodingersImmigrant · 20/03/2021 14:19

Oh, don't thank me
Hopefully you will like it. I do 10 min every evening when I fonish for the day. It became really nice ritual! Like closing the day.
If you google you can find like a face map thing to tell you which way to massage. I gathered that you go from inside towards the outside in general.

Heartofstrings · 20/03/2021 18:46

For those of you doubters - I definitely need to lose weight!

Can't believe I'm actually posting this!

Covid curves........ pretty sure many of us have them. You'll easily lose weight.

blowinahoolie · 20/03/2021 21:18

I tell DH he needs to lose weight because he is on medication for high BP. Unfortunately there sometimes isn't an easy way to word things. It's done with the best of intentions because you love someone.

Good luck OP🙌

blowinahoolie · 20/03/2021 21:20

userxx yes I have those Covid curves😂 currently restricting my intake of calories each day. Clothes beginning to feel looser. Not weighing myself as I feel that puts on more pressure. Just going by how my clothing fits. Getting there.

Heartofstrings · 21/03/2021 06:25

Thanks. It's good to hear I could lose it easily. My eating is so disordered. I need to cut out the binging

OP posts:
userxx · 21/03/2021 07:13

@Heartofstrings You know what you need to do, dig deep, find the discipline and go for it. I'm sat here giving you this spiel with sore knees and an aching back due to carrying an extra couple of stone........ really must follow my own advice 🙄🙈.

muddledmidget · 21/03/2021 08:50

I knew you were my twin, I gave exactly the same curves so have started a no snacking, 10k steps a day and 30 mins of exercise/day to see if I can reduce them. I have set an arbitrary date of 6th May to see what I can achieve ( no real reason, it's just the next time I'm seeing someone)
