Hi All welcome to the March loose 7lb a month. Our founder and usual host @cricketmum89 is taking a well earned break so I've started this thread to help keep us all on track.
We are a friendly bunch doing lots of different diets at lots of different weights.

No worries - best 69p I spent!

Themostwonderfultimeoftheyear · 20/03/2021 18:04

Hello, can I please join also? Have tipped into overweight and want to get back to slap bang in the middle of the healthy bmi range which for me is 68kg. I have recently become a SAHM of a school age child so finally have time. Have started c25k with DH and once the pools reopen we will go swimming too. Might invest in a personal trainer as well.

Main thing though of course is food. Have an awful sweet tooth. Plan is to do 16:8 and calorie counting with the hope that once I hit goal weight 16:8 may be sufficient to maintain.

SW: 79.6kg
GW: 68kg

Themostwonderfultimeoftheyear · 20/03/2021 18:27

Just looked up my tdee and it is 2457 which seems high. I am tall however. I think my aim to begin with will be 1800 and see if I lose on that. If I don't I will drop it. So will go for 600 calorie lunch, 600 calorie dinner and 600 calorie snacks and see how it goes. I suspect I will have to cut the snack allowance to lose but will see what happens.

frumpyswayingqueen · 20/03/2021 18:27

Please may I join you, too?

After being able to eat pretty much what I want for most of my life, I have been battling middle-age spread since I hit 40.
Well, when I say 'battling' what I actually mean is being in denial.

I have finally decided to do something about it and have suddenly found some will power from somewhere. (My 17 year-old telling me I look like a rectangle with fat arms was helpful.)

I've been doing yoga with Adriene for just over two weeks and am loving the effect its having on my body and mind. I've also found ( today) a low impact 30 minute cardio workout for real unfitpeople like me so will be starting that tomorrow.

After lurking on this board I discovered My Fitness Pal and am using that too. I need to stick to 1600 calories per day. It's not too hard, and definitely easier on the days I don't feel like breakfast.

When I weighed myself at the beginning of last week I was 72 kilos. My target weight is 60. ( Ideal weight is 56 - 60 kg).
So I have 12 kilos nearly 2 stone, to lose.
I weighed myself yesterday and I was 71.6 kilos which I am really pleased with.

Would really appreciate the accountability/support on the difficult days and to share recipe ideas.

Hi, and welcome to new people Smile

@mybonnieliesovertheocean2 I've been keto since January 2020 ignoring the time off i had from Oct to Jan and have found it really has helped. I'm planning to change to calorie counting after Easter though, just for a change. I'm currently 4st5lbs lighter than when I started.

@Themostwonderfultimeoftheyear
I think that sounds a sensible approach, I plan to aim for 1400 (I'm only 5ft2) and then alter it if that doesn't seem to work.

@frumpyswayingqueen I have a similar amount left to lose, so hopefully you'll help to give me a much needed kick up the butt Grin

mybonnieliesovertheocean2 · 21/03/2021 14:07

GetTheStartyParted thats fantastic results. I am using keto to get started as i need to be target orientated and wanted to stop drinking alcohol.Once i reach my goal I plan to return to calorie counting and maintain low alcohol usage.

GetTheStartyParted · 21/03/2021 14:31

@mybonnieliesovertheocean2 Thanks. My advice (not that you asked for it Wink ) is to make sure you keep close to your macros. Carbs as low as you can but the high fat and the correct amount of protein mean you won't really feel hungry, making it much easier to stick to. If you're not tracking then feeling hungry often will mean you haven't quite got it right. Good luck.

mybonnieliesovertheocean2 · 21/03/2021 14:35

GetTheStartyParted thanks! My sister got me interested and has been great at giving me advice- i have an app, i record everything and make sure i have the right balance. It was strange not feeling hungry....not keen on the dirty mouth feeling though

GetTheStartyParted · 21/03/2021 14:43

I luckily didn't get that! My DH did though and had keto flu too.

I have never been able to stick to a diet before so keto has been a revelation. I'm hoping to carry the willpower over to calorie counting because I know I can do it now.

I still use Carb Manager to track most days, sounds like your sister has definitely got you on the right tracks.

MegBusset · 21/03/2021 15:30

DH's birthday today so we had a takeaway curry last night, I stuck to fish tikka so not too unhealthy. Weight is creeping down:

SW: 10st 4lb
CW: 9st 12.8lb
GW: 9st 4lb

NerrSnerr · 21/03/2021 17:05

Hi all. I have eaten too much as usual on Friday and Saturday but got out this morning and did a 3 mile run which is the longest I have run since I became pregnant for the first time in 2014! I'm back on track today and determined to get to 11st8 this week which will be a 7lb loss for March.

I really want to be in the 10s by the end of April as then I know I'll be starting to fit back into my size 12 jeans. I have so many clothes ranging from a 10-14 and I really want to get back to a 10 so I can only have one size of clothes. I really want to do it this time.

TangerineGreen · 21/03/2021 18:52

Hello to all the new joiners 👋
Here’s my update:
SW - 10st 4oz (02/03/21)
CW - 10st 4oz 🤦🏻‍♀️
GW - 9 st.
Not much progress on the scales but I’ve been running (at least 20K per week), decreasing portions (especially carbs) and having only one desert a week on a Sunday. I can run faster and longer than at the start so I’m hoping the scale might move a bit more before end of March! 🤞🤞. Good luck everyone

GetTheStartyParted · 22/03/2021 07:39

Morning all, Monday morning weigh in!

What a strange week, I started at 11st1.8, was ill and despite hardly eating went up to 11st3.8 by midweek.

Feeling better and weighed in at 11st0.2 today. So overall lost 1.5lbs but didn't get into the 10s. So close!

Well done @NerrSnerr 3 miles is impressive. I have only managed 2km on my treadmill so far, can't wait to get that good.

Foresttheout · 22/03/2021 07:46

Morning All, I had a terrible weekend food wise, Looks like i'm going to have to cancel my annual trip home for the second year running so I ate my feelings which wasn't a great thing to do.
@NerrSnerr well done on the running! 3 miles is 5km which is a great distance
Welcome @frumpyswayingqueen I am also 72kg aiming for 65 as my first goal and then potentially 60 will see how I go!

Themostwonderfultimeoftheyear · 22/03/2021 07:52

Morning, thank you for the welcome :)
Managed to lose 0.4kg over the weekend so stats are now:

SW: 79.6kg
CW: 79.2kg
GW: 68kg

pumpkinpig · 22/03/2021 09:08

Another week gone everyone! Slow and steady wins the race - anyone disappointed by 1lb coming off in the week shouldn’t be!

SW 01/03/21 170.8lbs
08/03/21 166.4lbs
15/03/21 167.2lbs
CW 22/03/21 165.8lbs

Little bit surprising tbh - we had a HelloFresh box this week and two of the four meals were absolutely out of control calorie wise (one was 1258 calories which is my whole days allowance!).

I think being quite strict Monday to Friday and a bit lax at the weekend (though sensible) is working for me. It’s a lifestyle change at the end of the day and if no chocolate/crisps/junk during the week means I can have a couple of treats at the weekend and enjoy them more then so be it.

I don’t think I’ll make it to the full 7lbs by the end of March, but another pound off would be great!

Smarshian · 22/03/2021 10:32

@pumpkinpig well done!
I agree with the slow and steady thing. I have been going for 8 weeks now and have had a good steady loss.
SW (25/01) 11st 2lb
CW 10st 5lb
GW 9st 2lb
I am hoping to be 10st 3lb by the end of March and then under 10st by my week away in May.

ILoveAnOwl · 22/03/2021 15:34

SW: 117KG (31.1.2021)
CW: 103.5KG
GW: 67KG

My interim goal is to weigh 95kg by my friends party at the beginning of June. Just got to keep doing abd it should be possible!

NerrSnerr · 22/03/2021 15:50

Thank you @GetTheStartyParted and @Foresttheout I was really pleased.

Hope you're all doing ok- the scales are going down slowly but are going in the right direction. Have an achey knee so going on exercise bike instead of a run today. I also just bought a pair of size 10 dungarees on EBay today, shame I'm currently in a 14! Really hoping I can get into them before the winter.

frumpyswayingqueen · 22/03/2021 16:43

Thank you for the welcome Smile

How often do you weigh yourself, and what time of day?

I was thinking just once a week, on Sundays perhaps, in the morning (after going to the loo, for obvious reasons!).

Noticed today that the trousers I'm wearing are not tight around my thighs anymore. Muffin top is still very much present though Wink

Another one looking forward to being able to get back into my size 12 clothes. I used to be a size 10/12, even having my dc 17 and 15 years ago, but then the bloat set in and has since insidiously spread. Would love to get back to my 35 year-old weight. ( wistful sigh...)

GetTheStartyParted · 22/03/2021 17:22

@frumpyswayingqueen I weigh far too often Sad I only record my Monday morning weight.

I'm 35 and desperate to get back to my 20 year old weight. I've been obese/overweight for so long. I am 17lbs off a healthy BMI now though.

I'm so hungry today, the battle to not order a takeaway was real! I've swapped the planned meal of sea bass for a keto pizza instead though. So I'm kind of being good but also having a treat.

frumpyswayingqueen · 22/03/2021 17:34

Well done for not giving in! Sounds like a good compromise.

I think treats are important to stay motivated. Today I had one piece of a chocolate orange that I found in the back of the cupboard (stashed out of sight so they didn't all get scoffed by the teenagers, and forgotten about). I would normally have had four or five pieces but managed to exert my new-found will power.

(Actually stunned to realize that at 40 cal per segment with about 20 in an orange, my whole day's allowance would be just two chocolate orangesShock. I've definitely eaten a whole one to myself before of an evening.)

Ecci · 22/03/2021 18:14

Hi All, been lurking for the last couple of weeks but still here, and still losing but very slowly. I had lost 2.8 lbs in March 2 weeks ago but I've put some back on so weigh in today shows a loss of 1 lb for the month so far.
SW 15 St 12.4 lbs
CW 11 St 3 lbs
TW 10 St 4 lbs
At least its going in the right direction but sooo slowly.
@frumpyswayingqueen I weigh every day, keep a record of daily weights but only record weight on my spreadsheet every week. It's quite interesting, I notice that if I have something salty, it puts my weight up by about 3 lbs for a couple of days. I'm usually a very low salt person and anything salty makes me very thirsty.

grassisjeweled · 22/03/2021 18:31

Will there be a new thread in April? No way can I lose 7 lbs between now and March 31st Grin

GetTheStartyParted · 22/03/2021 18:33

Thanks, it was lovely. I made some coleslaw to serve with it. I'm definitely not hungry now Grin

Wow, one segment is very restrained.

@Ecci progress is progress. You're much closer to your TW now aren't you. KOKO.
