@Bee0808 the day after I go up a dose I'm a bit more tired than usual and the first couple of days after I started I felt a tiny bit sick, but since then I've been absolutely fine apart from a bit of constipation this week. I take mine at night though - just before I go to sleep, in an attempt to minimise side effects.

So I weighed in, and I've lost a stone in my first two weeks. I'm on 1.8 now and still no problematic side effects, and my heart rate has gone back down to normal and hasn't gone up again with the increase in dose. This is genuinely the easiest diet I've ever stuck too. I've upped my water this week too and trying to drink one of this enormous gallon bottles a day.

TenThousandSteps · 08/03/2021 15:12

Hi, would like to join you please. I've used Saxenda in the past and found it made me feel odd and I hated the permanent metalic taste in my mouth, but I need a kick up the butt so am going to start again today - it was by chance I came across this thread; thank you for starting it.

I also want to do a sugar detox and have been trying to find threads on this here on MN. Anyone know where I can find one? Thank you :)

whatsthestory123 · 08/03/2021 15:32

welcome ten well there are now a few of us some with amazing results, not me though as my weight is very slow to come of and have some health problems which make exercise difficult soimnot weighing my self much as that didnt help either

yes the funny taste is horrible, regarding the sugar well i would just omit it slowly as it can be a bit brutal to cut straight out, well i found that it was

anyway welcome and good luck

Hello ten shame about the metallic taste side effect. Did you get that as soon as you started, or only on a higher dose? I'm still on the lowest dose, 11 days in, and think that while it is slightly blunting my appetite, I am still slightly struggling in the evenings with hunger/cravings. I might go up to the next dose tomorrow, but am a bit nervous about side effects which I've managed to avoid so far!

CelestialGalaxy · 09/03/2021 09:28

Hi all, bit of an embarrassing one....but my weight hasnt changed for 4 days and I am only in week 2. i'm concerned because my 'throughput' has stopped even though i am drinking loads of water/coffee and doing exercise...are tablets my only hope?

Chrissols · 09/03/2021 10:26

@Kaftankween Hi, I have my appointment to get prescribed Saxenda in two hours......any tips for a complete newbie??? Very nervous.

andadietcoke · 09/03/2021 10:38

@Chrissols don't be nervous! They weigh you, and measure you. Do your BP. Ask you what you know about it and talk through the side effects. I was supposed to watch a video on injecting but it didn't work.

HowlingGale · 09/03/2021 10:39

Celestial I think you just have to keep plugging away. And probably avoid weighing yourself more than weekly as it can be counterproductive I think. Any more than that and if the scales don't give you the result you were hoping for you can get disheartened and throw in the towel. Remember, It's a marathon, not a sprint! I made the mistake of weighing myself last Friday and again today and haven't dropped anything either, and had to give myself a talking to. I only plan to weigh on a Friday morning now. But still pleased with the 6lb weight loss since starting 12 days ago.
kaftankween where are you going to get your Saxenda? I think most of us on this thread have just bought it online. But nothing to be worried about. I heard a doctor on Womans Hour the other day talking about Saxenda (or the generic drug) and saying it should be more widely avaialable on the NHS as it had such amaizng effects on people who had previously failed to lose weight, which was encouraging!

notapizzaeater · 09/03/2021 11:43

I keep an eye on my 'throughout' I take magnesium at night which normally helps. I stupidly took a ducolax at the start and forgot everything goes through so much slower so instead of the 'relief the next morning' (as per the ad) I ended up with stomach cramps (that I'd normally slept through) and needing the loo at about 4pm the next day ....

I'm on strong pain meds at the min (but just having them at night) and been struggling to sleep with the pain but it dawned on me it could be this as well, so now I take them at teatime then at bedtime and that helps.

MolotovMocktail · 09/03/2021 13:18

Just injected my first 0.6 mg 15 minutes ago, thought I’d tag along with you all. I’m hoping to lose at least two stone! Really inspiring to hear the stories on here, thanks everyone.

Chrissols · 09/03/2021 13:48

I just had my consultation, so will be taking my first tomorrow. I would love to lose three stone, but two would be great also. Three and a half would be fantastic. How much did everyone lose in their first week......I am half excited and half very apprehensive.....

andadietcoke · 09/03/2021 14:18

I lost 11lbs my first week I think.

Chrissols · 09/03/2021 14:45

@andadietcoke wow.......I would be over the moon with that, not holding my breath though....don't want to be disappointed

uggmum · 09/03/2021 16:16

Hi. Thought I'd jump on board.
I am on a 1.8 dose. No side effects.
No appetite which is great.
I am also fasting and eating a meal a deal in the evening.

I haven't weighed as I find it upsetting. But I have noticed a difference in the size of my stomach. It is shrinking.

I am going to judge success at the goal of fitting back into my size 12 jeans.

I am usually driven by hunger. I am always hungry but with this it just disappears and that's what I need.

whatsthestory123 · 09/03/2021 16:21

ive stopped weighing myself as it was having a negative effect but trousers feel more comfortable

CelestialGalaxy · 09/03/2021 16:50

@notapizzaeater thanks...I just found some dulcolax in the house so will give it a go...hopefully not with the reaction you had!

andadietcoke · 09/03/2021 17:06

@CelestialGalaxy it took a few days for it to work for me too and because I'm idiot I took more.

MotherofPoodles · 09/03/2021 17:19

I just wanted to comment that I tried Saxenda and it does totally take your appetite away but for the first time on any meds I've taken the side effects made me stop. It really effected my periods and hormones. All my life I've had very short 3 day very light periods amd then out of the blue I was bleeding for upto 2 weeks and my cycle all over the place. I was really really hormonal. Now it could be a coincidence but everything has gone back to normal.

MrsMaryClausFace · 09/03/2021 18:18

Hello all, I'm seriously considering this. Do any of you have PCOS?

I can fast, most days but I LOVE CARBS. Would this help?

notapizzaeater · 09/03/2021 22:47

I have pcos. It's working well. Tbh I'm so not hungry I'm not hunting carbs

Stepharoo78 · 10/03/2021 07:22

Hi all just checking in for the week! I’m down another 1kg this week and I’m on 1.2 and considering going up to 1.8 tomorrow because I can feel myself getting hungry in the evening. Does everyone end up getting to the maximum dose? I think this will end up Bankrupting me if so!

andadietcoke · 10/03/2021 07:49

I'm not bothered about carbs either. For the first time in my life I'm fine with protein and salad. Last night I had half a pitta with 4 or 5 chunks of grilled chicken and some salad and was stuffed. It's bizarre.

@Stepharoo78 no, not everyone does. I'm on a fb group and there are lots of people who are sticking to whichever dose works for them, and some of them are doing that on medical advice. That said, all the trial data is on the full dose - the steps are described as titration doses to get to the therapeutic dose, and I'm not sure if the leptin resistance benefits kick in at the lower dose. I'm with Lloyds so am committed to £260 a month but dread to think how much I'm saving on food plus the alternative would have been Slimming World at £5 a week plus hifi bars so there's a saving there.

Stepharoo78 · 10/03/2021 11:42

@andadietcoke that is a good point. The need for bottles of wine and takeaways has definitely diminished so that must be saving a lot!

Chrissols · 10/03/2021 13:05

As I am not starting my first injection until this evening (when picked up from surgery), I have just treated myself to my final cream egg 🤣🤣🤣 Wanted to ask though, I have just had my first vaccine - an hour ago, is it still wise to start today?

HowlingGale · 10/03/2021 13:43

Chrissols Hope you enjoyed your farewell Creme Egg! yes, I was wondering about the interaction with Covid vaccination as well. I have been on Saxenda for nearly two weeks ago and have just upped my dose from 0.6 to 1.2. Am due to have the Covid jab tomorrow, so just a little bit concerned about the side effects of both together. But have not suffered any ill effects on 0.6mg, so hopefully it will be ok. A few friends who've had the Astra Zeneca jab have said they felt flu like and a bit under the weather for a couple of days. But a small price to pay!
