How's everyone getting on? Wow @notapizzaeater that is AMAZING - congratulations and well done!

In the end I took Sax on holiday and continued with 1.2 each day. I didn't lose anything during the week but didn't gain either. A definite result as there was so much food and drink available - breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea, drinks & canapes plus 3 course dinner every day. So much food, and usually I would have pigged out. I enjoyed it all very much but never over-ate, which I would have done pre-Sax for sure. It was also fantastic to have a proper sunshine holiday!

I've moved up to 1.8, had a bit of a strange day yesterday, I was hungry/craving food all day and ate more than I have in ages, although I mostly filled up on homemade lentil soup. I'm trying to increase the amount of fibre in my diet anyway.... Feeling ok again today, so hopefully back on track.

Total loss to date over 7 weeks is 14 lbs, hoping to speed loss up a bit now hols are out of the way. Clothes are definitely looser, going to look out my next size down jeans that I'd put away in despair at the start of the year! I'm waiting for surgery, it's not essential so my consultant won't add me to his list until I've lost at least another stone, hoping to hit that by my next appointment with him at the end of November.

Almost time to order my next box of pens, if anyone has a recommendation for the cheapest place or a discount code, please let me know!

Hope everyone else is doing ok.

Torvi · 23/10/2021 10:39

Hi everyone
I've just taken the plunge and ordered my first pen. I've started reading through this thread and it's been great to hear about all your experiences.
I've realistically got 6 stones to lose Blush but will be much happier once the first couple are gone. Would be nice to feel like less of a hippo by Christmas.

DIKateFleming · 31/10/2021 11:07

Where are people ordering from at the moment? Are there any good new customer deals? As it’s so expensive it’s handy to shop around

AlanisMorningShed · 31/10/2021 12:21

I only order 2 pens at a time as they last me 30 days. Cheapest I found I think is from simple online pharmacy.
Or health express.

canichange · 04/11/2021 11:28

Hi,

After lurking on this thread for a while, I ordered a pen and had my first injection last night at about 8pm.

How long does it take to suppress your appetite? I've been feeling really hungry today. I've read that the peak is 11 hours after injection which would have taken me to around 7am, but I've felt hungry all morning Confused

seeingdots · 06/11/2021 09:28

Hi all, jumping on if you don't mind. I'm just starting on saxenda - took my first dose last night. How are the other recent newbies getting on @Torvi, @canichange?

@notapizzaeater your loss is amazing, very inspiring!

Are others injecting straight out of the fridge? I did last night and it was a little stingy. My T1 diabetic husband tells me it's best to let it get to room temp first so I'll try that tonight. He was telling me about how different injection sites will make it slower or faster acting so I'm going to start off with injecting in my bum before bedtime and see how I get on.

Torvi · 06/11/2021 09:35

@seeingdots hi I'm 10 days in and have disappointingly only lost 2lbs. I'm keeping going though and have just increased my dose as I've been feeling more hungry in the last 3 days. I'm surprised I've only lost 2lbs at this point as Ive eaten far far less and have been logging on the nutracheck app.
You don't need to keep the pen in the fridge once it's in use. I keep mine in a drawer and haven't had any stinging.
Good luck in your first week. Come back and let us know how you're getting on. This thread seems to be pretty quiet so it would be great to get some more chat going again Smile

AlanisMorningShed · 06/11/2021 11:20

Hi everyone, I've been on it for nearly 8 weeks and it's still working great to suppress my appetite, I try and stick to about 1.2 as I can't afford the full dose. I feel very tired though atm.

I've lost about 12lbs so it's pretty slow going for me. But I feel like it's the easiest diet I've ever been on, so can hopefully keep it up longer term as it doesn't feel like such a battle.

notapizzaeater · 06/11/2021 12:56

@seeingdots once you're using the pen it doesn't need to be refrigerated. It's just the unused pens need to be. I inject into my tummy every morning.

canichange · 06/11/2021 17:38

I'm 3 days in. No side effects, but still feeling hungry which is a little disappointing! My cravings aren't as strong though and I haven't been eating as much, maybe when I increase the dose I'll feel less hungry.

quitecrunchy · 06/11/2021 21:27

@Torvi that's a shame it's been a slow start. Fingers crossed for you that the scales catch up soon and you get some payback for eating well!

@canichange - how annoying that you're still feeling quite hungry! Maybe a few more days of it building up a bit will make a difference.

@notapizzaeater I'll ditch the fridge. Saw it was ok for a month out of the fridge but was a bit worried that the change of temps in the house might not be great for it, although we're always under 25 degrees.

@AlanisMorningShed that sounds like a really good chipping away at it. I think if I can shift a stone by Christmas I'll be fairly satisfied.

canichange · 08/11/2021 19:30

How is everyone getting on? I've increased my dosage to 1.0 and it's really working now. I've eaten nothing all day and just struggled to eat my evening meal. Making sure I drink loads of water. Going to leave it at this dose now and reduce it back down if possible as I feel like I should be eating a little more regularly.

How is everyone finding exercise? I don't seem to have any side effects at all, but when I exercise I feel awful. Drowsy, lightheaded and sick. I'm only doing the odd short Joe Wicks YouTube workout, so it's nothing overly strenuous. I might not bother with exercise while I'm using this. I'm planning on sticking to one pen just to give me a bit of a kick start, then try to manage my weight loss on my own. I just need to get away from the really scary number on the scales to give myself a little self belief!

quitecrunchy · 08/11/2021 22:17

Hi @canichange, that's great you feel it starting to work now you've changed dose. I'm at the end of my third day and so far it's been a complete revelation. I'm not thinking about eating constantly and snacking throughout the day. Zero sugar as well and just not bothered whereas usually that's my major weakness. Feeling hungry by mealtimes and managing a sensible portion so balance seems to be pretty good - hope it lasts!

Torvi · 10/11/2021 07:59

Morning saxenders Brew
Second weigh in for me and I've lost 3.5lbs on my second week which I'm much happier with (1st week only 1lb). I've moved up to 1.2 a few days ago and it's really helping me. No major side effects just a little acid indigestion.
Exercise wise I do a few short sessions a week on the treadmill and bike, burning a couple of hundred calories each time.
Glad to hear everyone else is doing well.

Queenoftheashes · 10/11/2021 11:12

Hi saxenders
Long-time lurker on this threat. I finally went for it and just did my first jab. Hope it's ok for me to join? I also have a few newbie questions if anyone fancies helping me out...

  • Has anyone taken Saxenda on a flight in their hand luggage and was it ok? I'm also wondering about hold luggage or would it get too cold down there? Or just missing five days?
  • After I inject the full dose, do I release the button before I count to six?
  • How long is it before people feel less hungry? I was hoping for an hour or so but I'm reading it can be a couple of weeks! And I'm fat now!
  • I have had to fib about my weight (only a few pounds) to get this... has anyone else done that and are you telling your GP that you are on it?

TIA!

quitecrunchy · 13/11/2021 13:26

Hi @Queenoftheashes, how are you getting on? I hold the button in while counting, if that helps. Don't know about flights but in the past my husband (type 1 diabetic) has taken a letter from his GP to say he needs to have his insulin pens in his hand luggage. Don't think anyone's ever asked him about it going through security though.

I'm 1 week in and have lost 4lbs. Pretty chuffed about that. Have felt a bit more snacky the last couple of days so I'm going to try switching the timings up and injecting in the morning and see if that makes a difference before going up a dose.

Queenoftheashes · 13/11/2021 13:44

Hey @quitecrunchy I am getting on good! Lost four pounds in first few days. I’m at pub watching the rugby now so having food and prosecco. Interested to see how it goes as I haven’t eaten much at all up until now. Worried the appetite suppression is wearing off! Well done on your loss!

quitecrunchy · 13/11/2021 19:53

Watch you're not eating too little @Queenoftheashes. You still need enough to fuel you. I've been eating 1300-1400 calories a day which for me is probably the lowest I'd want to go.

Queenoftheashes · 13/11/2021 20:37

I know I know. The temptation is to take advantage of appetite suppression and starve but that’s probably how I ended up with issues of overeating 😂 I managed quite a big lunch but wasn’t tempted by pudding so it is helping me be a bit healthier I think

quitecrunchy · 13/11/2021 21:36

I'd call that a win! I passed up on rhubarb crumble the other day. I almost didn't believe it was me saying no 😂

Queenoftheashes · 14/11/2021 08:40

I know it’s so liberating! That said I do seem to have developed a taste for smarties. But anything substantial like a sticky toffee pudding is offputting.

canichange · 21/11/2021 05:48

Hi, how is everyone getting on?

I'm heading towards the end of my first pen now and have lost 8 pounds in 17 days. I started at 14 stone 1.5 lbs and am now 13 stone 7.5lbs.

I'm feeling quite pleased. If I think about it too much I could get annoyed with myself because I know I haven't exercised much willpower so could have done better if I'd really tried, but there's been quite a few birthdays (including my own) and meals out during that time, and it's got me away from the really scary numbers so all in all I'm happy. I also think that if I wasn't using Saxenda I would have gained even more weight, so at least I'm at an overall loss.

I think I'll order another pen and try to get down to 13 stone in time for Christmas.

Queenoftheashes · 21/11/2021 19:23

@canichange good going! I think the good thing about this is you can just carry on living your life and you just don’t overeat. I’ve been on nights out, work lunches etc and still lost around 5-7 pounds in the first ten days. Have you gone up in line with the recommended dose schedule? I went up to 1.2 yesterday morning and feel absolutely stuffed after half my tiny dinner. Wondering if I needed to go up at all. It’s certainly cheaper at 1.6…

quitecrunchy · 21/11/2021 19:44

I'm 2 weeks in now at 0.6 and the effects on my appetite seem to be wearing off so I'm going to go up to 1.2 now. Lost 4 lbs in the first week but only 1.5 this week. Still fairly happy with that though, it's all in the right direction.

HeartRainbow87 · 23/11/2021 18:12

Hi all, I’ve been on saxenda a few weeks and all okay but now I’m getting really bad sulphur egg like burps :( it’s getting so bad that people are beginning to notice, did anyone else have this?
