I’m still not weighing myself, but my eldest said I’d lost loads of weight and my clothes are getting bigger - skinny jeans no longer skinny and I’ll need a belt soon!

Tramping around the supermarket yesterday and walked past the cream cakes - decided to go back after I’d gone back for another item. Was halfway home before I remembered I’d not gone back for them - and no regrets/tantrums about not having a “treat”.

I’m still on 0.6 + 6 clicks - just going up a couple of clicks at a time as my budget won’t allow for more.

JetSetWilly · 18/09/2021 11:08

That's amazing @AlanisMorningShed ! And to think you wasn't sure whether to try! Fingers crossed this works for you sounds like it's going great.

And you @AlphabetAerobics ! Great progress which is evident if people are noticing. I know what you mean about skinny jeans not being so skinny. It's such a nice feeling my clothes not being so tight and actually just being comfortable. I think it's clear now I was probably more like a size 16 but wearing size 14 clothes.

How is everybody else doing? I wonder how the original posters are doing! It would be amazing to hear how people continue long term after saxenda. My plan is to try to limit to one five pen box max two and see where will power takes me after that 🤞🏻

NautaOcts · 24/09/2021 06:16

How’s everyone getting on? I’m just finishing week 3 and have been at 1.2 this week. Despite my comments about feeling hungry I lost 4lbs in both of the first 2 weeks, will weigh tomorrow but have eaten a lot this week so would be surprised if there’s a loss.

This week I’ve started to get the dreaded ‘sulphur burps’ and also for the first time last night/early this morning have had awful heartburn which woke me up. Annoyingly don’t have any Gaviscon or Rennie in the house but will get some today.
Has anyone had this and was it temporary as your body adjusts? Or did it stick around. Could be a dealbreaker for me if it continues.

AlanisMorningShed · 24/09/2021 20:29

@nautaocts congratulations on the weight loss. Did you find your symptoms increased when you moved up to 1.2?

I'm on day 10, still on 0.6 plus a few extra clicks. I'm still amazed by it tbh, I haven't any cravings for anything and can easily stick to one meal a day, plus loads of water and tea.

I feel constantly thirsty and tired, that's about it. Lost 5lbs in first week.

NautaOcts · 24/09/2021 22:13

Hi there, yes I hadn’t had anything too bad in terms of side effects up til 1.2 but a couple of days into 1.2 I’ve had the gassy burps and really bad heartburn that woke me up last night. So have got some Gaviscon today which has helped. I think it was also the food I ate yesterday and overindulging.

AlanisMorningShed · 24/09/2021 23:39

I hope it's a temporary side effect for you. I think food stays in your stomach longer which might explain the smelly burps. The lengths we go to to lose weight, it's so draining!

I wonder if anyone has lasted long on saxenda? I'd love to have less appetite long enough to get down to a healthy bmi. But I can't see it happening, I'm 3 stones away at least. Sounds like the effects do wear off as we get used to it and my appetite will be back with a vengeance.

Has anyone had any longer term success?

NautaOcts · 25/09/2021 15:09

There are people I’ve seen on the Facebook group with longer success so I think it can work. I’ve also heard there (not sure of the basis) that the efficacy is not guaranteed below the full dose of 3mg so any weight loss due to side effects of nausea etc before then is sort of a bonus.

But I have also seen people on there who feel it’s stopped working for them or who have stopped and started.

I did my week 3 weigh in this morning and disappointed I haven’t lost anything, but at least haven’t gained.
I hope I can utilise it more and make better food choices this week. I can’t justify the potential negative effects on my body if I’m not actually losing much weight

NautaOcts · 25/09/2021 15:09

And the cost of course!

NautaOcts · 25/09/2021 15:12

But pleased to report no heartburn overnight and the Gaviscon tablets really do the trick 👌

AlanisMorningShed · 28/09/2021 10:11

Good luck for this week. It definitely does feel like it needs to be justified against the side effects and cost. I wouldn't want to have to rely on spending on Saxenda for too long either. Just need a boost to start me off.

Have been looking into semaglutide (ozempic) and it looks like it performs better, it's not available in the UK yet and it's probably even more expensive!

I'm happy with saxenda so far, it's only been two weeks though. Upped to 1.2mg last night and feeling nauseous today for the first time. Hoping to keep on a lowish dose as long as possible though.

NautaOcts · 28/09/2021 17:48

There’s some people on the saxenda uk Facebook group that are getting ozempic. I had thought it wasn’t licenced here to treat obesity, just type 2 diabetes but maybe I’m wrong.
I’ve kept on 1.2 instead of moving up this week as I feel like my body’s still adjusting to it but will probably go up again next weekend. I think I’ll reevaluate after this pen whether I carry on.

NautaOcts · 28/09/2021 18:12

But of a bingey day. I do feel a bit nauseous at times but it’s the kind of nausea that makes me want toast 😂

AlanisMorningShed · 29/09/2021 08:18

1lb weight loss this week, despite sticking to 1000kcal or less , ah well. If I can do this every week I'll get there eventually.

I can't seen to get into the Facebook Saxenda group, been pending approval a while. I sent another request through.

I think Ozempic is licensed for diabetes. If it gets approved for weight loss it'll be called Wegovy or something else I think. I wonder if it would be a higher dose for weight loss.

Anyway will keep plugging away at getting back to a healthy weight. So drained this week as well. Thirst has gone, will maybe try and make sure I drink enough water

DareDevil223 · 29/09/2021 16:21

I take Ozempic and I'm not diabetic. I get it on private prescription from an online clinic. It's a once a week injection and more effective than Saxenda. I only take 0.5mg weekly currently and I've lost 21lbs in 8 weeks.

I don't have any side effects (some people do though)and my appetite is very much reduced and I get full really quickly. It makes me feel normal around food, like bariatric surgery without the surgery.

Cost wise all strengths cost the same per pen so it's not more expensive than Saxenda.

AlanisMorningShed · 29/09/2021 17:48

Hi @DareDevil223

Which clinic do you get it from? I'm interested 😊.

DareDevil223 · 29/09/2021 18:05

@AlanisMorningShed

Hi *@DareDevil223*

Which clinic do you get it from? I'm interested 😊.

Hoping it's okay to post a link. I get mine from here. I had to fill in a medical questionnaire/have a consultation. They run a very supportive FB group also. They have offers fairly often and i have found them to be very good quality and reliable. There are some scammers out there.

AlanisMorningShed · 29/09/2021 18:30

I can't follow clicky links on this app for some reason.

Would you mind DMing me if it's easier than posting the company?

I'll have a look for the Facebook group.

AlanisMorningShed · 29/09/2021 18:33

Actually I got to the link on the webpage rather than the app, so hopefully sorted.

Thank you ☺️

DorothyVallens · 01/10/2021 12:06

How's everyone getting on? I've been on sax for 4 weeks now, just moved up to 1.8 and in total I've lost 10lbs, most of which was in the first 10 days. I've had horrible bloating and constipation though, which I think has slowed down weight loss. Finally got some relief 😂 in the past day thanks to combination of laxido and senna and was 1lb lighter this morning!

I'm still in two minds whether to take it on holiday next week. I don't want to undo the loss, but neither do I want the burping and bloat, especially on a 7.5 hour flight!

NautaOcts · 03/10/2021 09:14

It’s a tricky one
I have heard that for some people when they stop and start again it’s not so effective, could you take it but stay at the dose you’re on? Might not be the same for you but I have found I have the most side effects when I move up then it settles down.

I lost 8lb in the first 2 weeks and then have had 2 weeks of staying the same.

It is affecting appetite but sadly after years of practice I’m very adept at eating when I’m not hungry, for the ‘rush’ from the sugar/carbs whatever.

And as I think I said up thread, I can go without food for a long time in the morning as feel nauseous but then really crave something like toast to settle my stomach and once I start eating can go a bit crazy.
I’m on 1.2 plus 5 clicks now.

Reached a new level of desperation after researching gastric operations. So miserable with My weight currently. I have always been big but believe it or not at 15 stone I was a very comfortable size 14 and at 14 and a half I was heading in to 12s so maybe this is what inshould aim for. Currently I am at 23 stone. I put on a lot of weight in pregnancy and I have just spiralled since then. Started saxenda yesterday but it did not have much effect hoping today it does. Has anyone had any good success stories they could share just for a bit of positivity?! It's expensive but I can't afford a weight loss operation and I can't waste 18 months getting bigger until the NHS would approve it. Good luck on all your journeys

Just thought I'd check in, I broke through a milestone this morning on the scales.

For those that don't know I started this in Nov last year, came off if for a while in Jan (DH died) went back in in March till end April when I had a replacement knee. Came back on it July and been on it ever since. I'm currently at 1.8 a day.

Saxenda journey all welcome

sorry to read about your loss...

how are you finding it since taking it again 🌸

notapizzaeater · 17/10/2021 19:08

@QueenBee52 it wasn't quite as effective at the .6 level but as I progressed it kicked back in.
