Anyone not lose anything in the first week? I'm gutted! I have had 1300 calls a day average. Two glasses of wine in 12 days...

Kaftankween · 10/09/2021 09:27

Hello again everyone. I started saxenda in July 2020 and lost about 6 stone. I stopped because of the price really plus a couple of the online pharmacies started to query why I was still taking it after 6 months. I can’t remember exactly when I stopped but I think around April. Weightloss by then was slow to nonexistent.

Anyway I’m going to start again. In the 5 month break I’ve regained just under a stone which I’m not too unhappy about (I thought it might be more). I hadn’t weighed in a while. I have missed the feeling of ‘in control’ saxenda gave me. I will let you know if I have any success with a restart.

JetSetWilly · 10/09/2021 19:39

I have lost 2kgs this week @MissBridgetJones which is good but I have been incredibly strict - 800 cals a day on the fast800 diet, logging everything on my fitness pal and walking at least one, sometimes two hours a day. I am surprised that it has taken this much work to lose 2kgs! Goodness knows how I would have lost anything before without Saxenda to keep me this strict. Maybe it is age? I don't remember it being this difficult when I was younger?

Hi @Kaftankween Your progress is amazing. Do you have any idea what you would like to lose this time? I know what you mean about feeling in control.

Am thinking of changing injection to morning?

Dinkydonk55 · 10/09/2021 23:10

Well done everyone
I’m thinking I will definitely increase as side effects are fine, and although it’s making me find it easy to stick to quite a small eating window (ends up being sort of 12/1 to 7pm ish, in that window j can be a bit bingey once I get going. I think it’s the dreaded carbs and sugar addiction.

How many clicks in total between doses? I was thinking to go up to halfway between 0.6 and 1.2 which I think is meant to be the next one

In terms of weight loss… I’m not sure because I have been eating some crap on some days but will see tomorrow when it’s day 7

Dinkydonk55 · 10/09/2021 23:10

But generally feel better and have been sleeping great! Very tired though 😴

Dinkydonk55 · 11/09/2021 00:00

Oops name change fail 🤦‍♀️ It’s me, Nautaocts

AlphabetAerobics · 11/09/2021 08:44

I’ve not been weighing myself as I’ve recently moved house and the scales were very rude and claimed I’d put on a stone due to being placed in a different room.

I don’t log my food - but as I get older, I find eating ‘crap’ makes me feel rough anyway, so I tend to eat homemade soups and yoghurts. I also find that logging stuff makes me mental and I’ve had a lifetime of berating myself for food choices.

Pulled on a pair of jeans this week which fitted really well - then it clicked they were my PRE-COVID ones! 😍 I’d only had them out meaning to try them at some point…

Noticed half a bar of chocolate hiding in the fridge yesterday which had been there a few days. Imagine that - a life where you not only don’t imbibe the entire thing in one go - but you forget there’s some left!

DorothyVallens · 11/09/2021 12:38

Happy weekend everyone. 1 week and 2 days in and 9lbs down. Witchcraft! I'm feeling ok, the sulphurous burps are weird though, they've started in the past couple of days.

My appetite is up and down, non-existent in the morning and during most of the day, but it comes back in the evening. A diet hot choc and sometimes a biscuit helps.

I'm feeling positive about this! I did wonder if it was going to turn out to be another failure and another waste of money, but it might actually be the thing that finally works for me.

Has anyone taken a break for a holiday or similar? Fingers crossed, I'm going away in October for a week, the only reason I'm considering stopping is because we're off to the UAE and I'd need a doctor's note plus copy of prescription. The online pharmacy I bought from say they don't supply hard copies. I guess I could buy a single pen to take and make sure I get one, or even buy it out there.

MissBridgetJones · 11/09/2021 16:14

Hi @DorothyVallens! Do you mind me asking how many calories you are having a day? Thanks

AlanisMorningShed · 11/09/2021 18:07

Hello,

I'm new to the thread and need some advice if that's ok? Well done on the weight loss to everyone on the journey.

I have about 2/3 stone to lose and I would my BMI is definitely over 30. Maybe 31/32 (I haven't dared weigh myself in a while)

I can maybe afford a 5 pack of pens with a discount code (about £240). Has anyone found Saxenda cheaper than that? Also if I can't afford anymore pens or a monthly maintenance prescription, is there any point even spending on the initial pack?

I lose weight excruciating slowly, I'm over 40yrs now, maybe that has an impact. I don't really eat that much I don't think. I like healthy food. But everything else has failed and I just can't stick to anything as the results are so slow.

I can't really justify this cost unless it really is going to work for me. I need my health and energy back

user1471484795 · 11/09/2021 23:42

Hi Alanis, yes go for it. The pack will only last one month if you are on the top dose. but when you start you will start on a really low dose so the pack will past long than a month. I started on 0.3 and only went up in dose when o felt my appetite returning. So my first pack làted alot over a month. I have lost 14 kg now since March. The first 10 came off in the first 2 months. I am also over 40 (47) and have not been able to lose weight previously. I have been surprised though at how little I have to eat in order to lose weight. I have a very sedentary job. Give it a go as you never know this could be the answer to weight loss for you. I someone had told me in March that by doing Oct I would go from being a size 18 to a size 12 I would not have believed them but it really did work for me. I have another 10kg to reach my goal weight of 62kg. (I am very short)

DorothyVallens · 13/09/2021 10:28

Hi @MissBridgetJones I'm not strictly tracking but I'm aiming for a couple of 800 cal days each week and then 1000 - 1200 the rest of the time. I did go off a bit yesterday, family over for the first time in ages for Sunday roast followed by pudding. I hadn't eaten much the rest of the day and was full with smaller than usual portions though!

@AlanisMorningShed if you're very unsure and don't want to shell out for 5 pens, you can get a single one to see how it goes - even if you stuck to the recommended dose increase schedule, it would last 30 days and you should know by then whether it's going to work for you.

Hope everyone else has a good week!

AlanisMorningShed · 13/09/2021 13:43

Thank you both, I've ordered one pen for now to see how it goes.

I could try and stick to a low dose to make the pens last longer, has anyone tried this or is 3mg the only dose that works longer term?

user1471484795 · 14/09/2021 10:21

I lost 10 kg not going over 1.2. so definately doable. Stay in the lowest dose and only move up a dose when you start feeling hungry.

AlanisMorningShed · 14/09/2021 10:37

User that is brilliant weight loss! Congratulations, did it take you long?

I've just worked out my BMI is 35 😢 so I think I'm going to have to sort myself out asap for my health's sake. Can't believe I've let myself slip like this.

JetSetWilly · 14/09/2021 12:49

lovely to see some activity in this thread Smile I hope it is going well for everybody. I am on 3kg weightloss which is good but not as quick as I would have thought, I have been able to lose that much myself before now at this rate although this is much much easier.

Did you decide to increase the dose @NautaOcts? I think I am going to. currently only 0.6 + five clicks but I think I'm going to increase to 1.2 as I have been feeling a bit hungry. Had a terrible day yesterday, actually I say terrible but I was still probably only on 1300-1400 cals, but back on track today. I also changed to injecting in the morning which I didn't like at all and have changed back to evening. I can't put my finger on why but I do think that nighttime also helps me get a good night's sleep.

Amazing progress @DorothyVallens Smile I get those burps too - do we know why? I used to get them before anyway Blush but thought it was down to poor diet but my diet has been very healthy now so unsure why I have them?

Hi @AlanisMorningShed I'm the same as you (over 40, lose weight slowly, have 2/3 stone to lose). I'm surprised at how little i have to eat to lose weight but the best thing about Saxender is that it really does make it much easier to stop snacking and eating rubbish and means it doesn't feel difficult to eat well (for me at least). I see that you have bought a pen now, I would have said go for it as well. and I didn't find cheaper than £243 for five pens.

Thats amazing progress @user1471484795 I would love to have the same progress as you. Are you still on 1.2?

NautaOcts · 14/09/2021 13:05

Hi there, yes I did same as you, went halfway up to 1.2 on Saturday. Am still injecting around 6pm. Tired in the evenings and sleeping well, quite nauseous in the mornings and can easily not eat until 12-2pm ish. So am managing to do a sort of 16:8 eating window. BUT problem is once I start eating I can go off the rails. Lost 4lb the first week and last couple of days seem to be back to where I was but will see what the weekend brings. So don’t know how well it’s working for me yet.
Trying to not follow any particular diet too strictly as that’s when I can sort of rebel against it and binge more.
I must be having far less calories than I was and do feel better but bit surprised it hasn’t shown on the scales much.

Wondering if I try bringing it forward so I get more appetite suppressant later in the day.

Glad I only went up half dose tho as headache was bad again yesterday, plus I don’t even have PMT and got emotional/upset on a video call to my manager yesterday morning 🙈 normally I’d only be at risk of that just before period. It was weird sort of caught me out as I didn’t realise I was feeling that upset about the thing I was talking about, so I’m thinking the meds are affecting my mood!

Hopefully that will settle down

Thinking to do 1.2 on Saturday since I’m not seeing great losses I feel it worth keeping increasing it

NautaOcts · 14/09/2021 13:46

I’m not sure if it’s possible (maybe I’m a freak of nature…) but honestly starting to feel I might be MORE hungry on saxenda.
So about 20 mins ago had a decent sized bowl of chilli made last night, with some cheese. So pretty low carb apart from the kidney beans. Having felt a bit nauseous all morning and not fussed about food. And right now I’m really hungry!
Before when I was low carbing a bowl like that would really fill me up. Hmm maybe it’s because I am not in the low carb zone?
But disappointed so far I admit but I think it should give it a go getting up to the full dose and there are definitely times of the day when I’m not fussed by food

dryasaboner · 14/09/2021 15:48

On 1.2 week 2- not doing much at all but making me exhausted tbh
Also a very uncomfortable bloated feeling

Bobbinsbop · 14/09/2021 19:46

After weeks of dithering I’ve ordered 2 pens to see how I go.
My mum has been using saxenda for a while and had lost 3 stone so I hope it works to me too!

I need to lose around 2 to 2 1/2 stone eventually.
But if I could lose a stone on this it’d be a good start.

I’m more of an afternoon /evening eater when is the best time to inject?

NautaOcts · 15/09/2021 07:16

Hi @Bobbinsbop I’m no expert but have picked up from the Facebook group that I think it peaks 11 hrs after injecting? At least until you’re on full dose then I think it’s fairly constant in your body.

Some people start injecting in the evening to sleep through the worst side effects and that’s worked ok for me but definitely feel the appetite suppressant more earlier in the day than later.

Now I’m trying to do it around 4/5pm and that seems to be helping with the evening.

JetSetWilly · 16/09/2021 16:06

hi all, I know what you mean about the once you get going @NautaOcts. It's odd, if I don't eat I can not eat for a while. but once I start eating I can fall back in to bad habits. Thing is it's not healthy not eating so I just have to eat with a bit of willpower! I did take my dose up to 1.2 Tuesday and felt a bit off last night - so much that I didn't take my dose. I haven't felt emotional I don't think but can get hangry! not surprising! I've been on it two weeks today and have lost 3.8kgs now which is good but I have been very strict, averaging 800 cals a day. I also bought these scales Amazon which measure lots of different things and the most minute of weight loss which I've found motivating.

It it quite odd how it works and it can be very up and down the appetite! I think I will keep to 1.2 as long as it doesn't make me feel too off and see how we go. I do feel 0.6 + 5 wasn't really cutting it anymore. Soon I should also start incorporating some proper exercise too, I'm sure that will help. I'm just walking at the moment one or two hours a day which is good enough.

Hi @Bobbinsbop nice to meet you. I've no idea about timings etc. I take it at nighttime which works for me. I did try morning time but didn't like it but can't put my finger on why.

how are you getting on @dryasaboner - does it suppress your appetite at all?

Bobbinsbop · 17/09/2021 15:20

Thank you.
I’ve started today I decided to do the morning because I’m always in at the same time.
I’m amazed it seems to be working already. I went out for lunch and had a salad (which I never pick!) and I feel so full. It could be because I know I’m on it but either way I’m happy.

JetSetWilly · 17/09/2021 17:05

I always think that @bobbinsbop - is it really working? But the reality is I am eating less, with very little effort, and and I don't feel faint or odd so it must be!

AlanisMorningShed · 17/09/2021 22:31

This is day 3 and I'm really impressed.
I don't have any side effects at all, apart from no appetite. I've a big BMI of 35 and just one meal a day feels fine. Maybe fruit as a snack and some tea/coffee.

I'm going to try and keep to as low a dose as possible if I can carry on feeling like this. I doubt I'll feel like this for king before I cave or need to up the dose!
