That's fab, fantastic achievement

andadietcoke · 08/06/2021 22:46

Whoop @Chrissols that's brilliant - hope I'm not too far behind you.

Moanranger · 10/06/2021 23:00

Have been on it fo four weeks now. I am at 1.8. I have lost 5-6 lbs. I track my cals, trying to stick to 1200. Sometimes go a little over, but I don’t binge. Went on holiday for 1 week of this.
Not loving the side effects. I feel low-moody on it, and lacking in energy. Sometimes quite bad heartburn. Also, while I don’t binge, I can get briefly ravenous. At this point, I am not sure what I think. I am put off going up in dose due to side effects, but may be necessary. I do not have a great deal to lose -8kg
Any thoughts?

Moanranger · 11/06/2021 14:00

Well, I have decided to stick to 1.8 for now. I don’t want worse side effects, and my appetite is quite knocked back.
On a plateau ATM

Moanranger · 12/06/2021 14:47

Actually, I lost on more lb. At this rate, it will take me 16 more weeks. This is the first dose that has completely knocked back my appetite. If I can take advantage of that to stay strictly on my calorie budget, then maybe I will lose a bit more per week.
Side effects odd. Feel rather ill right now. I go through periods of the day where I feel reasonably ok, then periods, like now, where I feel nauseous& like I have the flu. This was not nearly so strong on lower doses.
Not loving it, but no pain no loss - my bones are re-appearing - hello, bones!- and my older smaller sizes now fitting

Ostara212 · 12/06/2021 22:28

Moanranger love the username!

Sounds like you're doing well.

Does the drug remain effective at a lower dose or do you have to increase it?

Ostara212 · 12/06/2021 22:28

I tend to respond more to meds than most. I never take two ibuprofen, for example.

Oneearringlost · 14/06/2021 09:35

I've been on saxenda for nearly 1 month. I started upping it to 0.6 plus 5 clicks as others have mentioned. If a click is 0.1, then surely 0.6 plus 5 clicks takes it to 1.1 which is virtually at 1.2, the next dose up?
But I may be wrong in assuming a click is 0.1mg.
My main side effect is overwhelming fatigue, not drowsiness, just no energy, even walking up the stairs is an effort, it's like my haemoglobin is about 5!
I've lost 1 stone 3 pounds in this last month, definitely have my plateaus, keeping generally low carb and < 1000 cals/day with IF.
I'm not sure how long I can continue with this lethargy, I couldn't walk round our neighbouring village yesterday for open gardens, so it's having an effect on my quality of life and ability to function.
Anyone else had this? And anyone else know about what dose is in one click?

andadietcoke · 14/06/2021 10:31

16 weeks in and I'm no longer obese! Just under 3 stones off now and no side effects. Still on 3.0 and eating about 1,000-1,200 calories a day.

Ostara212 · 14/06/2021 10:34

Oneearring really sorry to hear that

To be honest I wouldn't carry on with those side effects

dietcoke that's great. Do you expect to come off soon?

andadietcoke · 14/06/2021 11:06

@Ostara212 I'm still a couple of stone overweight (going off BMI) so will stick at it for a while. It's expensive when weight loss is so slow but if you asked me if I'd pay £1,000 to be 'at target' in four months then I'd go for it I think.

The expense is putting me off, plus the thing that if normal appetite returns after..

If it's true that stomachs shrink, you manage on less etc then I can see the pluses.

Oneearringlost · 14/06/2021 13:24

@andadietcoke. Well done you!
Keep up the good work.
@Ostara212. Thank you for your reply.
I've got a low maintenence week ahead and having googled plenty of Saxenda threads, it appears that this is a frequent side effect for typically, 12 weeks. I'm going
to persevere for the next couple of weeks as it works to diminish my appetite and I'm losing, albeit a bit slowly, but I think you may be right and I may have to stop it.
How goes it with you? Sorry haven't got quite up to date with the full thread yet
All the best to all of us

Ostara212 · 14/06/2021 13:48

oneearring oh
I haven't started, as I said

Just trying to get info, really more about what happens after you stop taking it.

Oneearringlost · 14/06/2021 14:16

Ahh, Ostara, forgive me.
There are many Saxenda forums and threads. Many people have lost weight without undue or unmanageable side effects and many also find it "interupts" the destructive eating patterns we have slowly but steadily adopted. So after stopping it, your appetite comes back, but hopefully you have adopted a pattern of eating that doesn't include, say, snacking in the evening. It's Cadbury's chocolate raisins for me, and twiglets...

Oneearringlost · 14/06/2021 14:18

So, hopefully, it works on a psychological level as well as a physiological one.

Apparently there are 10 clicks between the 0.6 and the 1.2mg doses, so you should be halfway between the two, i.e 0.9mg now

Hi
I’m thinking of getting saxenda and have a couple of questions.
My bmi is 30.3, once my bmi went below 30 would I no longer be able to get the pens or would I be ok because I’m already using them?
Also can anyone recommend an online pharmacy to get them from?

Gameofbones · 16/06/2021 19:11

Good evening all

I took delivery of my first batch of pens.

I have realistically 4 stone to lose.

I’m planning to take first thing in the morning, drive to work have a small breakfast.

Any tips for me?

Gameofbones · 16/06/2021 19:16

Oh and is it better to take in evening or first thing?

HowlingGale · 16/06/2021 19:52

Hi Bones I would advise keeping the dose as low as you can as long as it is still having an effect. Saves you money and minimises side effects! I've been on it for just over three months and was latterly still only on 1.8mg. However I decided to come off it for a week mainly because I was becoming increasingly constipated (sorry TMI) but also because I had begun to wonder whether it was losing its efficacy. A week off sorted out the bowel issue but last night my appetite seemed to return with a vengeance and I felt really hungry and unsatisfied with whatever I ate. So have gone back onto it again today and am already feeling more in control again. How much is psychological I don't know but I'm going to do this for another 3 months and then take stock. As for when to take it I do it about 9am but am not sure whether it makes much difference re timing. I did read somewhere that it takes about 11 hours for the drug to fully kick in so I reckoned that as evenings are the most challenging time for me re controlling my intake it made sense to take saxenda in the morning so by early evening the drug would be at its most potent - tho no idea whether that's the case or not!! Anyway good luck!!

Gameofbones · 19/06/2021 14:38

Hi all
Sorry I have more questions

I took my first dose yesterday and today again had my second.

Today I feel really quite buzzy. As I did when I used to take drugs!

Would it be an idea to do it every other day if I feel so wired? Has anyone else had this? I feel like I’ve taken speed! Thank you x

HowlingGale · 19/06/2021 16:22

How about taking o.3mg every day rather than 0.6 every other day?

hbdd · 23/06/2021 14:54

I wonder if anyone could offer any advice. I have been on Saxenda a few months now but my trouble is 1.2 does nothing for me anymore, I am still hungry and losing no weight, but 1.8 makes me very nauseous and sometimes vomit. I have tried going back down and back up in clicks rather than all at once. I settled in 1.2 and 5 clicks for a few days and felt fine but still hungry. I went back up to 1.8 yesterday in a bid to actually finally lose weight again and it worked brilliantly, only ive been struggling with side effects ever since. What can I do?

cleaning247 · 23/06/2021 17:16

I find the nausea helps if your big meal of the day is very protein based.
