@Notnastypasty I've always injected at bedtimes. Originally it was in the hope of minimising side effects, and I have been really lucky with them but don't know if that's why! I tend to get hungry at about 6pm (I have a very light lunch) and have a normal sized balanced meal (now - it took a while to be able to manage that much). I don't want or need anything later on, and I used to binge snack at 9-11pm.

Can I join in? We're like a drug trial in this house - DH and I are both diabetic and obese, I'm on Victoza for the last month and he's been on Ozempic for two weeks.

So far he's had one day of feeling nauseous, about two days after his second dose, and he's had heartburn on and off. He hasn't noticed his appetite changing - he's munching on a scone at the moment. He's lost about 4lbs.

I also had one day of severe nausea, but I've been fine aside from that, just not hungry. I get so full after a small quantity of food that I'll happily eat a third of a 'normal' dinner. One day I ate a third of a doughnut and chucked the rest in the bin Shock Not that doughnuts have featured more than once - with such reduced capacity, I'm making sure that what I eat is decent, nutritionally, and I'm taking a multivitamin as well. As of last weekend (3 weeks in), I had lost 17lbs.

I took Victoza before, for 3 months, and lost 3 stone in that time (out of the 8 I needed to lose). Unfortunately I came off it because my blood sugar stabilised, then went on a 3 week holiday and ate everything in sight, and kept eating after I got home, so put all the weight back on. So it's a brilliant tool to achieve the loss, but you really do need to change your habits drastically in the long term.

I'm actually excited about weighing myself on Saturday. It's DH's birthday weekend so hopefully a good loss will help me focus on keeping the indulgence to a minimum.

Going to try this as a boost to kick start and get out of the habit of snacking etc

Ordered 1 pen

Anyone been out the other side, what happens when you stop

Notnastypasty · 27/05/2021 15:18

Thanks all for the advice. Just got my delivery and took my first dose 30 minutes ago. Did you find the effects kicked in the same day?

SandandFog · 27/05/2021 18:30

Thanks so much for answering my last question. It's reassuring to know that this has helped others with non hungry eating!

My next question Grin, I received my delivery today and I'm really keen to get started but I have a night out with friends for dinner and drinks on Saturday.

Is it best to wait until Sunday do you think?

andadietcoke · 27/05/2021 19:59

@Notnastypasty I inject at night. Day 1 I felt a bit nauseous and didn't really want to eat. Day 2 my appetite was starting to go.

It honestly depends. If you start it today then it might limit your food / alcohol intake on Saturday. But that is a good thing, no? Otherwise you're just sabotaging your week 1 weight loss if you're planning a last hurrah on Saturday?
SandandFog · 27/05/2021 20:11

Thank you andadietcoke I am really keen to get started. I think I was most worried about side effects and feeling terrible on my first, long awaited night out!

Notnastypasty · 27/05/2021 22:15

@andadietcoke thank you. I’m going to take it in the morning tomorrow and see how I feel, hopefully it kicks in. Might slowly move it to bedtime if not!

Genuine apology for misunderstanding. Yes, wait until Sunday. The first week I felt 'not right' and I would have been tired and grumpy at a social occasion. Totally worth it for the week 1 weight loss though. I lost 11lbs! Have a lovely night out on Saturday.
SandandFog · 28/05/2021 06:29

11lb in the first week! Shock that's incredible. I hope it works for me, my BMI is 43.

Atalantea · 28/05/2021 11:58

just taken my first one -

not told anyone in the family i'm doing it though. For those who have ordered online, are you telling your family?

Atalantea · 28/05/2021 12:16

@shutterteal

Milton.....that's so inspiring. I'm doing good, thanks. 7kg off. Day 12 today. I walk everyday and my step is lighter with the weight loss. 1.2 has given me some occasional nausea and a bit of acid reflux, but honestly, I'll deal with most things to be a decent weight. 4kg to my first goal of 100k. My Saxenda journey is a secret. I've told no one as I don't want any pressure so here is where I can talk out it. Is anyone else keeping it confidential?
Me!! I feel like I shouldn't be buying weight loss injections off the internet!, but they are linked on the www.pharmacyregulation.org/ so should be ok
andadietcoke · 28/05/2021 12:21

My husband knows and two friends but that's it. My sister is a nurse, and my mum will google, and suddenly I'll be at immediate risk of thyroid cancer and pancreatitis...

HmmmHashtag · 28/05/2021 15:38

I told my Dr and he launched into a huge lecture/rant about it and was horrified, couldn't believe I'd been able to buy it, started googling frantically and said basically he can't offer me any support or advice because I've done it privately. I replied "I'm not asking you for advice I'm just telling you" Grin

Atalantea · 28/05/2021 16:10

when does your appetite go?

Notnastypasty · 28/05/2021 16:38

@Atalantea I’d also be interested to know. I’m on day 2!

Atalantea · 28/05/2021 16:57
@Atalantea I’d also be interested to know. I’m on day 2!
i've eaten more today than bloody normal!!

HmmmHashtag · 28/05/2021 17:31

@Atalantea

when does your appetite go?
Mine's been up and down! It varies daily. Hoping it settles as you go along, and maybe when you increase.

Am I right in thinking it's 17 days on 0.6, then up to 1.2?

Notnastypasty · 28/05/2021 18:36

@HmmmHashtag I think it’s 7 days then up to 1.2mg?

andadietcoke · 28/05/2021 20:37

7 days at each dose. 17 days is how long the first pen lasts if you go up the dosing schedule.

HmmmHashtag · 28/05/2021 20:45

Ohhhh so I'll need to go go up tomorrow then! Eeeeek.

SandandFog · 28/05/2021 21:21

I'm another one that hasn't told anyone. I generally keep weight loss stuff to myself anyway. I know my family will be horrified when I tell them I'm injecting something I've ordered from the internet! If I do tell them I'm going to say it's prescribed by the GP.

Pinkdelight3 · 29/05/2021 11:18

My DH knows but no one else. It helps that I'm doing the 1200cals and MFP so it just seems like I'm being hardline about that. I don't like this side of it, having to hide it in case of rants like that doctor's or people freaking out at the needle/internet/side-effect side of things. It sounds worse than it is and really no one's got any better solutions, have they? Beyond shit we've tried many times or surgery. This is working short-term and then hopefully we're into healthier patterns and can keep it off.

Exactly. I did say to the Dr, "well the NHS aren't going to help me are they?!" And he didn't really have anything to say to that!

Does anyone else feel a bit off kilter? I feel a bit weird today. Might hold back on increasing my dose until tomorrow.
