After a week of nothing shifting this morning I got on the scales to a 2lb loss. Now that's a total of 2 stone 2lbs in 2 months. I'm actually starting to feel like myself again. The mental relief not thinking about food all the time and also feel out of control has also been great.

Selfcarequeereyestyle · 29/04/2021 07:14

Hello, I have been following along but thought I would join in. I am using Lloyds and Liva (had my first appointment last week). I have completed the scaling up weeks and went to get my next set of pens last week - I had lost 4kg which I was pretty happy with! I am in my first week of a 3ml dose and I stepped on the scales today to see that I haven’t lost anything more since last week 😢. Reading about other people here experiencing the same has given me hope that I just need to keep going and hopefully more losses will come 🤞.
I haven’t experienced any horrible side effects, although I am very tired (this may just be to do with being back at work and spending too long on my phone!!) and so sometimes I worry it isn’t working!!!
I do need to track what I am eating as I think I am probably eating more than I realise.

Moanranger · 29/04/2021 23:14

Self tracking eating is very important. This only works by suppressing your appetite, so if you eat too much, you won’t lose weight. I am on Noom, but there is myfitnesspal &Nutracheck for this. It should help. Good luck!

Whisperinastorm · 01/05/2021 07:57

@cleaning247 that’s an impressive loss in 2 months! I am 4 days in and would love to replicate. I completely agree with what you say about the relief of not constantly thinking about food.

lostitall · 03/05/2021 11:19

Can anyone tell me a rough monthly cost please? I'm very keen on this but the cost is making me dubious

Whisperinastorm · 03/05/2021 11:56

@lostitall I’m paying £260 a month through Lloyds Pharmacy.

lostitall · 03/05/2021 14:26

Ahhh thank you

Moanranger · 03/05/2021 20:07

losital cost depends on where you buy and your dose. You start at 0.6 and may work up to 3.0mg. Following the FB group, some stay on lower doses, as low as 0.6 and lose very nicely, some go up to the full whack.
I have bought one pen, and it is working for me. I now stay comfortably at or under 1200 cal. If I stay on 0.6, then this pen, should last another 3 weeks.
I wasn’t able to maintain this calorie budget until I started on Saxenda. I ordered 5 more pens for £240 plus postage. They include 50 sharps, but I will probably need to order more of these.
My loses 10 days in - around 4lbs (I weigh weekly on Fridays). Benefits: smaller appetite, don’t think about food much, food shopping a revelation! No temptation to buy anything not on my list, just not stimulated by food at all.
There are side effects: I still feel pretty tired, digestion a bit off, a little heartburn, but these have lessened. I think fatty, rich food best avoided, as it makes digestive symptoms worse.
Food tracking also essential. This works only by reducing your appetite, so I weigh, measure & write down everything I eat.

Whisperinastorm · 05/05/2021 07:22

First week completed! A little nausea some mornings (I inject before bed), but other than that I’m feeling fine and my appetite is well suppressed. 6 lb down! I know a lot is water in week 1, so pleased though.

WouldYouHaveACupOfTea · 06/05/2021 16:31

Been looking into this... does anyone have any recommended suppliers? (That sounds dodgy as hell!)

I've used prescription doctor but they've been rubbish lately.

Thanks

Moanranger · 06/05/2021 20:30

I used the London slimming clinic

@Chrissols and @andadietcoke
How are you getting on?
I had a break for 10 days as I felt absolutely awful. Really bloody rotten.
I'd done so well early on so thought I'd start back on .6mg and not raise that dose unless I felt it was necessary. Lost 1kilo in 2 days, appetite under control.
Did you both manage to keep going?
How's everyone else feeling?
Oh, I bought new clothes! Down to a size 16 and feel much better about myself.

Chrissols · 07/05/2021 08:10

@shutterteal Hi, I haven't come off it....yet. I have been so scared to come off it as some people say it doesn't work second time around, although it's not working for me now! I am losing approximately 1lb a week, but that's not the meds doing the work as my appetite in is by no means suppressed, I am just being super careful and dieting like crazy. It is silly really that I am paying £260 a month for something that is doing absolutely nothing for me at the moment. Your message has given me a bit of hope though, to hear it is working for you second time around. I will definitely have a break now and start again, and when it works, stick at the that dose until it stops before moving up, unlike moving to the top dose in a month as directed by the pharmacist. From the beginning I am down from 14.7 to 12.13 and sadly have not lost any from around my middle yet, all from legs and bum. I know I am not as active as I should be, but more active than I was a few months ago. Did you put on in the 10 days break by the way?

HowlingGale · 07/05/2021 09:45

Hi shutterteal, well done in getting into a smaller size, it's a great feeling when you can finally get into old clothes again that were once too small! Did you notice your appetite returning during the 10 days you were off the regime? And if so did it come back immediately or gradually? Anyway, good to hear that a break followed by going onto the lowest dose is effective!
"Chrissols" i don't understand why you are persisting with the drug if you say it isn't working and think you can lose weight without its help? It sounds as if you have been pretty succesful in losing a stone and a half, so why waste money on Saxenda if you feel you can manage without it? I've lost about the same weight as you, but I think it has to be with Saxenda's help, as this is the first time in years I've been able to stick to a weight loss regime. Normally after a couple of days I end up binging on chocolate/cakes/biscuits in the evening and throw in towel, but now I seem able to resist all the bad stuff much more easily - or be satisfied with far less of it. However, I appreciate that everyone is different and it doesn't work for everyone. But if I could do it withouth having to fork out hundreds of pounds I would do!

HowlingGale · 07/05/2021 09:47

Whisper that is a great start, well done! Even though some of your weight loss may be water, it's still really motivating to see such encouraging progress on the scales. I sometimes feel slightly nauseous in the mornings (often before I jab myself), but it is only every a passing wave of feeling slightly sick, it never lasts luckily.

shutterteal · 07/05/2021 10:02

@HowlingGale @Chrissols

Yes, my appetite did return. But I honestly felt happy at the time to not feel so unwell. So I baked a lemon cake as was craving it. (Anyone want the recipe?? Wink)
And had a few normal (for normal people) sized meals. And enjoyed every bit!!! I did put on 2 kilos though. Jeez, why's it so easy to put weight on?
As I said I'm going to stay low dose now. I never felt like I needed to move up but did it because it was recommended. Will follow my instincts from now on.
Chrissols, why not try a break?

Chrissols · 07/05/2021 10:05

@HowlingGale if you look at my past threads it did work for me to start with and now it's just like I daren't stop for fear of putting on

Chrissols · 07/05/2021 10:08

@shutterteal yes I will now I see it has worked for you. Like you, I only moved up because my pharmacist told me to, it seemed to work best for me at a lower dose, perhaps they just want our money. I will start again and keep to a low dose as long as possible. Lemon cake is also my craving, at first I wasn't craving anything.

shutterteal · 07/05/2021 10:12

I suggest you have a few days off Saxenda and enjoy yourself...but not too much.
Bake that cake. I did Mary Berry's lemon tray bake.

HowlingGale · 07/05/2021 10:13

chrissols yes that sounds like a good idea to give yourself a break and restart on the lower dose. But if you don't think that Saxenda is having any impact on your appetite and you are still managing to stick to your weight loss plan then fingers crossed you won't put any weight on. Anyway, let us know how you get on!
I'm now in my 9th week and am still on a 1.8 dose, which seems to be working for me. I can't say I feel as if my appetite is massively suppressed, but it definitely stops me bingeing on carb heavy food, always my downfall in the past!

Oneearringlost · 11/05/2021 08:47

Can I join you?
I have 2 stone to lose.
I have lost 4 pounds in 5 days but I have been sticking to 700-800 calories and 20g carbs with fasting. I have been so strict but am feeling grumpy. ( I couldnt find any sugar free sweets or chewing gum at all in Tesco yesterday, even though i asked and they checked their data base...i discovered that 4 lemon sherbert sweets contained @ 20g carb!). I really need something sweet after dinner and fruit is really high in carbs when youre on only 20g/ day.I just don't think I can sustain this without help.
£260 is a huge amount of money for me to justify but there have been some motivating posts on here and maybe the money will spur me on to maintain my will power.
I wish I could stop feeling so discontented and grumpy. I watched Motherland last night and just picked holes in it and felt irritated by the whole thing, then Inside No 9, same, then flounced off to bed. Poor DH.
Maybe I can justify the cost of Sax because I might become nicer....
Any recommender sites for purchase would be most appreciated.
Strength Sisters!....

HowlingGale · 11/05/2021 10:33

Hi oneearring! I have been on saxenda now for about 8 weeks and have lost about 1.5 stone. Slow progress, but at least it helps me to stick to the straight and narrow. Anyway, I've just bought some more pens from chemist-4-u. They are about £51 each, I haven't managed to find any cheaper than that. Good luck and let us know how you get on!

Oneearringlost · 11/05/2021 11:10

Thank you @HowlingGale, that's really helpful. That's one and a half stone you've lost, golly, full marks, respect!
Looking forward to hearing all the updates from all of you. Sending Sax of strength to us all...

BigBumBessie · 12/05/2021 08:46

Please can I come along for the ride . After reading this thread I ordered two pens and started yesterday.
I am 13st8 and 5'7 so need to lose about 3 stone.
I'm desperate to lose about a stone quickly before I get back to the office to at least be at my pre-lockdown weight.
I've started Noom as well so really hoping for some good results .
I'm doing 2 days cardio at the gym and now classes are open I'll be doing one day pilates and one day yoga.
