chrissols don't despair it's just a blip! Weight loss isn't linear and this is just a little bump in the road. You've just got to keep going and keep up the good work. I'm not sure daily weighing is necessarily a good idea - I know it's tempting but think that it can be demoralising if the scales don't show what you were hoping for. Personally I find weekly weighing much more motivating.

shutterteal · 18/04/2021 07:31

HowlingGale
So I went up to 3 and it was awful. Acid burn reflux 70% of the time and felt like I was in a fog.
Lasted two days and have gone back to 2.4 where I feel fine and can function.
I'm going to go to weekly weighing now as, like you Chrissols, I am a bit up and down and it doesn't help you does it.
On the plus side, I've gone down a dress size and my curves are back. Hated being a blob!

stormsurfer · 18/04/2021 11:04

@andadietcoke that's great news!

I've done 4 days now and feeling OK. Eating less for sure and am sleeping well. I feel a bit brain foggy, though. Any suggestions to help with that?

andadietcoke · 18/04/2021 17:44

@stormsurfer patience, sorry. I really struggled to focus for the first few weeks. I think it cleared around the same time I had more energy for exercise so about 2.4.

stormsurfer · 18/04/2021 17:52

Ok thanks. At least I know to just wait it out!

HowlingGale · 18/04/2021 18:14

shutter that sounds grim. I've moved up to 1.8 and seem to be doing ok on this dose and it's managing my hunger pretty well so am going to stick at those level for a while. Great to hear you have lost a dress size that must be really motivating especially as you livein a hot climate and can't cover up with baggy jumpers like the rest of us in the uk!

HowlingGale · 18/04/2021 18:17

kitz welcome to the group! I know exactly what you mean about still feeling hungry but somehow better able to manage it. I seem to be able to acknowledge I feel hungry but don't feel compelled to act on it. Am easily going most days without eating till mid afternoon and then having a late lunch at about 230-3pm and then dinner about 7ish.

Carrotcakeforbreakfast · 19/04/2021 13:13

I think I'm going to take the plunge and order this. One pen to begin with.

I need to crack low carb and find it impossible to get passed the hunger at the beginning. Being a veggie doesn't help
I have PCOS so low carb is the way forward.

Can you drink alcohol on it? I'm meant to be out for my birthday next month and while I could go without a drink I wouldn't mind a a few.

HowlingGale · 19/04/2021 13:26

Hi Carrot. Yes, I'm still drinking a few glasses of wine a week with no ill effects. As far as I know it doesn't interact adversely with the drug, and otherwise its the same as if you weren't on Saxenda - it's all extra calories, but if you account for them then you will still lose weight!

WalkingAfterMidnight · 20/04/2021 21:29

Hi, I’m just checking in so I can come back and read this thread tomorrow.

I had a consultation with Lloyds today and signed up for my first month.

I am hugely obese (bmi 46) and so tired of looking and feeling the way I do about me.

Any tips or advice very much welcome.

Thank you 😊

andadietcoke · 20/04/2021 23:20

Good luck @WalkingAfterMidnight it's been brilliant for me. I'm also with Lloyds. Sign up for the Liva app / health coach - it's a great resource. I've been really lucky with side effects - I inject at bedtime and wonder if I sleep through it. Drinking water helps with hunger pangs

Chrissols · 22/04/2021 13:33

7 weeks in and it has most definitely stopped working for me. Been hungry for two weeks, not cheated on dieting, not a single pound lost, and absolutely no side effects whatsoever. Looks like I will have to stop as don't see the point in paying for something that is just not working.

Moanranger · 22/04/2021 18:04

Hi, all, I just bought one pen & had my first injection to see if this works. My situation: I would like to lose 10k (about 1.5 stone) which would put me in just above a “not overweight BMI, around 25.5. My BMI now is just over 30 (obese:( )
I started Noom a few weeks ago. The calorie budget is 1200 & I had a really hard time sticking to it. Very disheartening. I will stay with Noom -useful for calorie counting & at least gives me a structured & accountable approach to food. I am hoping by adding Saxenda I can stick to 1200 cal.
A couple of questions: for those on it a long time, have you always moved up to 3mg or do you stick with a lower level that works for you?
What is the most economical source for pens? I bought my first through Health Express with a voucher, but if It works & I need more, then I will need to buy 5 pens, which will be expensive!

HowlingGale · 22/04/2021 19:27

moanranger I think lots of people on saxenda manage to lose weight without moving up to the max dose. I've been on it for 8 weeks now and am still only on 1.8. I feel that this level seems to
Be controlling my appetite quite well and I am losing weight -albeit not as quickly as some others on here. But everyone is different and what works for one may not work for another! You just have to experiment and see how you go, starting on the lowest dose and
Slowly increasing if you feel it's necessary.

WalkingAfterMidnight · 23/04/2021 08:40

Well this is weird - I’ve jabbed twice in the evening and no side effects so far but both mornings I’ve woken up and not been ravenously hungry! I was not even starving hungry when I got in from work (when I would usually head for a mountain of toast).

Are effects instant or is this a psychological shift in my thinking?!

Also, can I check that you only do the flow test once at the start of a new pen?

Last one for now (!) where on the body do you jab? The pharmacist asked if I had any questions but I didn’t think of these at the time. I’ve jabbed on the right hand side and left hand side of my (vast) stomach so far.

Thank you for good wishes and support and help - it’s very much appreciated as I can’t tell anyone in real life.

Moanranger · 23/04/2021 10:47

I gave myself first jab of 0.6 yesterday around 3pm Effects came on fairly quickly. A bit off in tummy, odd taste in mouth, little appetite. When I woke this morning, still pronounced effects, not hungry & I managed a cup of coffee & a leftover diet shake, as I thought it would sit easily on my somewhat delicate tum. I am also a bit wiped out.
Walking I think jab anywhere you have fat. I intend to use my abdomen, plenty of sites there!
One thought I had: probably best to stick to a healthy diet, avoiding sweets & fatty food,to keep stomach settled. With no appetite it would be easy to slip into eating small amounts of unhealthy food. I saw one FB poster whose diet consisted of a lot of pork pies, in small amounts. Shock

WalkingAfterMidnight · 23/04/2021 15:46

Pork pies?! 😂 Talk about defeating the object!

Yes, the pharmacist said I needed to make a healthy lifestyle change to my diet and exercise.

I need to go shopping to get some sensible lunch and dinner in. I’ve managed on fruit, cereal bars and yohgurt today but I’m conscious that I need to reduce sugars too.

And yes - plenty of fat space to jab so that’s ok 😏

andadietcoke · 23/04/2021 16:03

Yes, flow test only for new pens.

Injection sites are in the Saxenda book - abdomen (but go in a circle), upper arms and thighs.

I had pretty instant reduction in appetite.

WalkingAfterMidnight · 23/04/2021 17:36

Thank you andadietcoke - I’ve found the diagram now too 🙏

Moanranger · 23/04/2021 19:47

Pretty immediate appetite reduction here also. I have kept my calorie intake to 1100 today. Walking I have found Asda “calorie counted” and “balanced” frozen meals tasty & cheap. Then I just add 1 or 2 green veg, or salad & fruit & yogurt for pudding. Makes life easy. If you have DH or DC, they can have a different main course.

shutterteal · 25/04/2021 06:46

@Chrissols
I'm the same and I'm sad. It worked so well for the first few weeks, now no weight loss. And I've felt unwell on a few occasions.
But, I have lost inches and dropped a dress size, put a dress on the other night for a special night out, I was sure it wouldn't fit at all but it did and was even a bit big.
It's all weird. I don't understand.
Anyone who has been on Saxenda for a while do you have any advice.
Do I stick it out or throw in the towel?

Chrissols · 25/04/2021 09:13

@shutterteal I really could cry. Still taking it at the moment just in case I stand on the scales and they have moved, but it really isn’t working. I am still dieting so not putting on, but so hungry.

andadietcoke · 25/04/2021 09:48

@shutterteal how long have you not lost for? I had three weeks and then lost 5lbs in one go and lost fairly regularly since.

I'm week 10 and for the last three days have been starving all the time. It's around ovulation but it's worrying me. I changed injection site last night but no change this morning. Wondering if I need to switch to morning injections.

Whisperinastorm · 26/04/2021 21:31

Hi all!
I’ve signed up to the Lloyds Saxenda course today and hoping to join you guys on the journey. It seems it won’t be without bumps in the road. I have a little under 6 stone to lose. I’ve done it before (WW) and hoping this is the hand I need to do it again.

kitz90 · 27/04/2021 16:42
@shutterteal I really could cry. Still taking it at the moment just in case I stand on the scales and they have moved, but it really isn’t working. I am still dieting so not putting on, but so hungry.
Chrissols what dose are you taking?

I'm 2 weeks in and have lost the grand total of 1lb! It's so annoying. I'm going to keep going as my appetite is fairly suppressed. I've been stressed out recently and wonder if that's why the weight won't budge. I'm eating less and exercising more and just praying that I'm not someone who saxenda simply doesn't work for as my weight gets me so down.

I'm on 1.2ml.
