@Kaftankween Yes, I am going to sign up for another month tomorrow and just see how it goes, I am only going to keep on if I see some loss though but ever optimistic

Wagsandclaws · 31/03/2021 17:44

Sorry you didn't get a yes @Kaftankween. That's rubbish :-(

I'm not drinking atm but it's v dull. I'd like to be able to have a couple of glasses of wine at the weekend but I'm worried about exacerbating my sulpher burps Ect. Things so seems to be settling down In that direction.

Weight in for my first week on Friday. 3 stone to lose in all and my daughter is getting married in 12 weeks so I'd love to be fairly near my goal.

My DH is 4 stone plus overweight and is doing his injections through a clinic - no other compilations but it's nice to have someone on the journey with me.

Hi there, I'm wondering about trying this as my weight is spiraling out of control. Can you buy just one pen to see how you get on with it?

Miltonkeynesmummy · 01/04/2021 05:33

Yes I bought one first of all but it was £90. It's cheaper when you buy 5. Although there are codes available which I didn't realise.

Chrissols · 01/04/2021 07:54

@Miltonkeynesmummy where do you get the codes please?

Miltonkeynesmummy · 01/04/2021 08:11

I've seen them on the Saxenda Facebook groups. It's for Express Pharmacy. I think it's 30% off your first order so a big saving.

outnumbered77 · 01/04/2021 08:27

Thanks. And how long would you expect one pen to last?

andadietcoke · 01/04/2021 08:28

First pen on a week of 0.6 and a week on 1.2 lasts 17 days

picklemewalnuts · 01/04/2021 08:59

Has anyone done one pen to get all that fast weight loss then stopped and kept the weight off?

Chrissols · 01/04/2021 09:24

@picklemewalnuts I think most of us need more than a months' weight loss sadly.

picklemewalnuts · 01/04/2021 09:28

Yes, I wondered whether with that as a boost at intervals it would help alongside a more usual diet plan the rest of the time. A bit like assisted intermittent fasting.

I'm 3 stone down on slimming world, 4 stone more to get to target. To lose a stone more quickly in the middle would be a real boost.

Or Maybe to get back to target if you've put weight on after a holiday.

The biggest issue for me is knowing that for the rest of my life I'll have to watch every sodding mouthful. We haven't had a French stick in the house for months, because I won't handle it! I'd cave instantly and that would undo weeks of work.

Mumsnut · 01/04/2021 11:54

It takes so long to lose a few pounds, and yet they go back in seconds!

Kaftankween · 02/04/2021 11:37

Thanks @Wagsandclaws I've read quite a few papers on saxenda's journey with NICE over the last couple of years. Principal reasons for not prescribing seem to be:

  1. that weightloss might not be sustained after you come off the drug (so what I say, I've seen people who've had weightloss surgery who have put weight back on) and
  2. the take up could be huge and so too costly.

It's such a shame. As you can tell I feel a bit annoyed about it! I've been overweight a long time and finally found something that works for me. I'm hoping to save the NHS money by being able to lose weight finally.

It's the same old argument about investing to save money long term. I recognise the huge pressures in the NHS of course.

Chrissols · 02/04/2021 16:02

Second day on 2.4 and I just want to curl up and sleep.......

MolotovMocktail · 02/04/2021 16:41

I’m feeling exhausted too @Chrissols not sure if it’s the saxenda (on 1.8 now) or from my covid vaccine I had earlier in the week. Maybe a combo. Has your nausea subsided at least?

HowlingGale · 02/04/2021 16:59

molotov I had the Covid vaccine before I started on saxenda and felt absolutely wiped out for 24 hours so that is a definite factor.
Weighed myself this morning and have lost a stone since the beginning of the yet - of which 10lbs since I've been on saxenda for the past 5 weeks. So pretty slow progress but I am still on a 1.2 dose ans slightly reluctant to up it as I feel very slightly nauseous at this level and couldn't cope with it being much worse. I mean it's not bad but I don't want to feel sick so dubious about a higher dose. However I am not feeling too full to eat like some are reporting on those thread, just somehow better able to eat more sensibly and not stuff myself in the evenings like I used to. But still eating a good 1700 cals a day I'd say.

HowlingGale · 02/04/2021 17:00

Since the beginning of the year I meant to say

Wagsandclaws · 02/04/2021 18:33

@Kaftankween I know and I don't understand why, when it'll cost the nhs so much less in the long run they won't prescribe for weight loss.

I'm on a couple of Saxenda/Ozempic groups and there are lots of people from the states on them. They are being prescribed both by their doctors and their insurance is paying for theirs - I wonder how long. It will take the nhs to catch on with this as it's much, much cheaper than Bariatric surgery and yet can, at least initially have the same effect.

I've lost 7, 3/4 in my first week as I weighed this morning. It's also bought my bloods down to near normal levels.

My DS's are 12 and 8 and I was worried about not being here for them 5 years from now as I've had terrible blood glucose levels for over a decade and that's WITH insulin - this might just be a miracle drug for me.

I felt so knackered the first few days and really sick - sulphur burps Ect but I have to say yesterday and today is much better.

I didn't realise that I'd be so tired though, that is definitely a thing with these types of drugs.

@MolotovMocktail @Chrissols sorry you both feel equally as rubbish, I think it does get better. I've got to double my dose in 3 weeks and am dreading it for the first week or so.

jannyapple · 04/04/2021 07:42

I considered Saxenda but decided to choose Mysimba instead , it worked for me from day one , managing side affects well and although yes expensive ... I'd have spent more on chocolate , ice cream, sweets , biscuits cake and take away
I have absolutely no craving what do ever and really enjoying normal eating for maybe the first time in 20 years

shutterteal · 05/04/2021 04:59

After a great initial weight loss things have really slowed down. I'm on 1.2 plus 5 clicks. Going to go up to 1.8 on Wednesday. Does going higher increase the weight loss? Any advice welcome.
I'm going to stick with it because I am still losing but very slowly.
3 weeks 4 days in now.
How are you all doing?

andadietcoke · 05/04/2021 10:13

Yessssss! After a few weeks of really slow weight loss after the first couple of weeks I've lost 5lbs in the last week. So delighted to see the scales move again, and takes me to just under 2 stone off in the 6 weeks.

andadietcoke · 05/04/2021 10:15

@shutterteal I had a good few weeks between 1.8 and 3 where I didn't lose more than a couple of pounds but I've lost 5 this week (3rd week of 3). Haven't changed what I've been eating at all but have upped my exercise for the last couple of weeks and for the last few days have switched to injecting in my arm. No idea if either of those have had an impact.

uggmum · 05/04/2021 21:59

I don't weigh as I find it too upsetting.
However, I measured my hips today and I have lost over 6 inches.

I can't believe it. So happy with that result.

I will keep at it. I am on 1.8 and keep my calories at less than 1000 per day. Some days I struggle to eat more than 600-800. I have no urge to eat. No hunger at all.

Chrissols · 06/04/2021 14:58

I don't know if my jab worked today. I did it in the top of my thigh but it hurt, and I mean really hurt, so that I had to take it out after less than two seconds. That was five hours ago and I have been absolutely starving all day, first day in ages I have eaten lunch and I'm still ravenous....I am on 2.4

shutterteal · 07/04/2021 14:48

@andadietcoke
Thanks for the info. That sounds like me. I'm going to stick with it regardless.
You're doing so well!!
