@Chrissols

My neighbour, not a very nice lady, is training to be a nurse and turned to be a few weeks ago stating 'you could never be a nurse, you're too fat'!!
jesus what a complete bitch

what a bedside manner she has

OP posts:
HowlingGale · 22/03/2021 13:45

Chrissols Yes, fat and incapable of losing weight the conventional way, and somehow "cheating" by resorting to a drug.

HowlingGale · 22/03/2021 16:40

Chrissols You should have told her that with such an appalling bedside manner she might want to reconsider her career options!

RubyViolet · 22/03/2021 17:41

Ismellphantoms · 22/03/2021 17:43

Mine arrives tomorrow. I have high hopes of losing nearly 3 stone gained in lockdown.

Chrissols · 23/03/2021 08:51

Day 12, 8lb down. Have moved 1lb a day for last three days, but that’s probably as I’ve been feeling too sickly to eat......still, small price to pay if the weight drops

shutterteal · 23/03/2021 10:01

That's brilliant Chrissols.

andadietcoke · 23/03/2021 10:04

Day 2 of 'proper' exercise after I stopped when I was on 1.2 and my HR had a bit of a rise and panicked me. Weight loss seems to be moving again after a plateau too. New favourite lunch - 2 ryvita sweet chilli thins with 30g smoked salmon and 30g light Philadelphia for just over 150 calories.

shutterteal · 25/03/2021 11:35

How are you all getting on? I increased to 1.2 but had heartburn and nausea so went down to .9, which is suiting me.
Small weight loss this week but today is day 15 and I'm 7.6kg down.
My eating is under control and I'm eating to live as opposed to looking forward to high fat dinners every night. And I've completely gone off any alcohol and never think about snacking.
It's a miracle!!!!!

CovidCorvid · 25/03/2021 11:40

I haven’t told my dh either but I suspect he’s found my pen....he hasn’t said anything. I’m on my second pen. I’m currently at 0.9 , was on 1.2 for a bit but dropped back after having bad diahorrhea. I lost 3kg the first week and nothing since! I’m still hungry all the time. Will try going back up to 1.2.

HowlingGale · 25/03/2021 12:00

I'm on 1.5 (ie 1.2 plus 5 clicks) and I'm feeling quite nauseous, so think I might go back down to 1.2 again.

Unfortunately my urge to drink wine hasn't really abated, though I had a couple of squares of chocolate last night, which usually wouldn;t have touched the sides, and felt completely satisfied with that. Weight loss very slow. Still only down about 8lbs, though I know it's got to come off at some point given my reduced intake!!

MolotovMocktail · 25/03/2021 12:24

I haven’t had time to weigh myself or catch up on this thread but just wanted to say @Chrissols I can’t believe how rude your neighbour was! What a nasty piece of work, precisely the wrong type of person to be going into nursing. Some people are unbelievable.

Chrissols · 25/03/2021 12:27

@MolotovMocktail I agree she should be choosing a different profession. For some reason people seem to like her. She even said it in front of her mother and her mother didn't flinch. To be honest though, it did cut deep.

Mumsnut · 26/03/2021 10:24

Another one here who lost big (8lbs) in ten first two weeks and hasn’t really moved since. Maybe a pound

Going up to 1.8 left me with unbearable nausea, sulphurous burps and stomach cramps, so I came down by a couple of clicks. I’m still eating very sensibly though, so surprised nothing is shifting. Beginning to wish I hadn’t ordered more pens

Chrissols · 26/03/2021 10:34

@Mumsnut I have till next Thursday to decide if I want to order the next month's prescription. I was in two minds but think I will, purely for the appetite reduction so at least I am not putting weight on. I need to get a bit (a lot) more active but I am so tired on this medication that I really cannot be bothered....Waiting for my B12 to arrive today

HowlingGale · 26/03/2021 10:46

mumsnut same here lost 8lbs in first two weeks and maybe another pound or so depending on how I stand on the scales! But I've decided to commit for 4 months to give it a fair go. I can't believe that in 16 weeks my weight won't have shifted further downwards given I'm definitely eating less. I think we just have to be patient!

Mumsnut · 26/03/2021 18:41

I ‘m almost tempted to come off it
For a fortnight then start again and see if I get the ‘8lb effect’ all over again!

notapizzaeater · 27/03/2021 13:39

Just 1lb this week - 49.4lb in total.

andadietcoke · 27/03/2021 14:15

I've done 30-60 mins of cardio every day this week and lost nothing. I give up Grin

Miltonkeynesmummy · 27/03/2021 16:27

After a slump I suddenly lost 3lb yesterday which has spurred me on. I fit into a coat I bought a couple of years ago this morning and that was really lovely. Especially when my child said 'mummy you look really posh' 🤣

shutterteal · 27/03/2021 22:01

Definitely slowed down this week but I'm on 8.2kg loss on day 16.
Had to go out for dinner last night (not in uk) for a family celebration. Dear me, I started dreading it as I just wasn't interested in food.....normally I'd be full of plans about what I'd eat. Got Moules Frites and managed 15% of it. What a shame. Didn't even enjoy that!
Good news but I do miss enjoying food and wine. That time will come again. For now this is what I have to do.

Wagsandclaws · 27/03/2021 22:04

Can I hop on board?

I've read the whole thread and you all seem to be going great guns.

Like OP I'm a type 2 diabetic and I'm about 3 stone overweight.

My Consultant has put me on Ozempic which is similar to Saxenda in that it works as an appetite suppressant and does clever things with your blood glucose levels to normalise them.

I'm on week 2 and I'm in the lowest dose atm , I wish I could say it's sorting out my appetite but I'm still really hungry although I'm trying to do calorie controlled days. I've only been trying calorie controlled days for a few days now.

I take Insulin as well as metformin and jardiance so it's harder for me to lose weight. I would love to get this 3 stone off so I can try to come off insulin.

4 years ago I was 18.3 so I've lost about 4.5 stone but very slowly and not really on purpose, it sort of just came off here and there probably amounting to about a stone a year.

I think you are all doing wonderfully. For those that are feeling disheartened by the smaller losses in subsequent weeks please don't, that's just your body doing it's thing.

Initial losses are always spectacular especially if you've a lot to lose, I'm desperately hoping for about 5/6lbs this week as a kickstart because on this lowest dose I'm bloody hungry.

I can't go up for another two weeks and even then that will be half the dose That I finish up on.

I'm loving seeing what you are eating and getting some real inspiration from you all. I am taking a very similar drug ( I inject once a week though ) although I do inject insulin every day. Here's to another day on the wagon tomorrow!

Kaftankween · 28/03/2021 10:01

Hi Everyone. Apologies for being absent and missing questions which people I'm sure have moved passed now. I've lost 73 pounds now but the loss rate is incredibly slow following the initial relative rapid loss. I've been taking saxenda for 9 months and have a couple of worries. Firstly financial. Although worth it, it has been very costly (ordered online mainly through ukmeds and doctor4u) and secondly could I come off and manage in my own? I'm wondering about taking every other day or going right back down to .6 as other options.

I saw recently that in feb NICE sanctioned the prescribing of saxenda on the NHS. I'm sure many GPs aren't up to speed or local Heath commissioners won't endorse but I might approach my GP. Anyone else feeling that they might try that? The alternative for me would've been weightloss surgery or massive ill health. Surely GPS should be sympathetic?

Chrissols · 28/03/2021 11:07

@Kaftankween please let me know who you get on with your GP? I am paying £260 a month through the pharmacy which I can ill afford (although I am spending less on food bill). I stood on the scales and 2lb down this morning, but that's probably because I could not eat a single thing yesterday, so sick.
