Anyone keen for a 6 week challenge?

I do well with shorter goals and am hoping to focus on shifting some weight and being more active.

Anyone else care to join and see how much weight we can shift (sensibly!) in the next 6 weeks?

People are welcome to join anytime, I personally will be counting from Monday 7th until March 22nd. I was hit pretty hard by lockdown and am the biggest I’ve ever been... I’ve already managed to shift a little bit of weight, now looking to tackle my long term eating habits and sedentary lifestyle in the coming period.

I’ll be sticking to the following :

  1. No snacking.
  2. 5 fruit/veg per day, protein source at every meal.
  3. Trying to hit 10,000 steps a day.

Other than that, I’m not following any diet in particular, I’m trying to change my habits for the long haul. And of course, being comfortable in summer will be an added bonus!

In these 6 weeks, I’m hoping to shift 8-9 pounds, as well as losing a couple of inches off my belly and bum.

Any takers?

@NoNameNellie the choc banana cake sounds yummy... my DC made cupcakes today for a school project, luckily they scoffed them all before I got near them!!

I did a (short) weights workout today and am now seizing up... PE with Joe again for us tomorrow.

I sympathise with you and anyone else whose DC just WILL NOT go to bed - DS1 (borderline ASD) is terrible for it, the only way to deal with him is to let him calm down quietly, sit with him but don't interact, let him know that after stories it's bedtime etc etc. DP decided to do it his way tonight whilst I went food shopping... bedtime took him two hours Grin

I had Slim-Fast shake for breakfast and herbal tea. I'm getting ready to work.

LivingMyBestLife2020 · 10/02/2021 07:53

Yesterday was my first day and it went well. I ate a lot of fruit and veg yesterday and went to bed bloated. Without tmi, I woke this morning and cleared a significant amount of the constipation I’ve had. So that’s a bonus 😂

I’m normally very fit and active but being at home since November has killed that off. I’m on a college deadline this week but will be in the exercise next week

LivingMyBestLife2020 · 10/02/2021 07:55

I’m a coeliac so whenever my son wants to bake I make sure he bakes with regular flour so I can’t eat it 😂🤣

CarlottaValdez · 10/02/2021 07:55

Morning! I’m just out to do a run. It’s so cold though!

PurpleDaisies · 10/02/2021 07:57

Marmite houmous on posh toast for breakfast here finishing off a loaf of sourdough. Plus a bucketload of coffee. It’s a Hiit day today so I’ll do that, some stretchy body balance and a walk. I think lunch will be leftover beetroot bourgignon. Dinner is mushroom, leek, smoky tofurkey and creme fraiche pasta which was a surprise emergency hit last time I’d forgotten to shop and had to play Ready, Steady Cook with the fridge.

stclair · 10/02/2021 07:57

I’ll join please! I need to lose about 5kg to have a hope of fitting my clothes comfortably. I started low carb-ish 2 weeks ago and lost 2.5kg but have spectacularly gone the opposite direction since my birthday last Friday. Today is the restart of the new me!! Wink

Wondered how often everyone weigh themselves?? I am doing it every morning before breakfast. 3lbs off so far.
Did the 15 minute dance workout this morning and realised just how unfit I’ve become!Confused

PurpleDaisies · 10/02/2021 09:17

It’s always been once a week weighing here. I get a bit obsessed with small daily changes otherwise!

ClaraTheImpossibleGirl · 10/02/2021 10:07

Once a week here too (throwback to my many years at WeightWatchers!)

@PurpleDaisies I love the Ready Steady Cook with the fridge Grin definitely happens here when I haven't been able to go shopping for a while!

Fembot123 · 10/02/2021 10:42

I’ve just got my scales and I’m 10’7 down from 10’9 last time I weighed myself. Want to get to about 9’7.

CarlottaValdez · 10/02/2021 10:52

I quite like weighing everyday as you’re less likely to get “caught” by weird fluctuations in either direction.

ChonkyChook · 10/02/2021 12:16

I'll be weighing weekly. Otherwise I attribute loss and gain to random things rather than accepting fluctuations.

Breakfast - egg and spinach
Lunch - raw veg and cottage cheese

Done a cardio workout and then weights.

Feeling Good! 💪

Welcome @stclair and @SeaShoreGalore !

@Lostsoul231How did you find the workout? I couldn't squat at the same rate as her and even though it didn't feel too strenuous, I'm feeling sore in my thighs today!

I weight myself every week, but I sometimes have a little look during the week. However, I find that I get really discouraged if I see that my weight has gone up (even though I know fluctuations are perfectly normal!) and tend to lose motivation. This is what happened yesterday when I saw that I was half a kilo heavier than my last weigh in 4 days ago. Then this morning I was down and then some again!

Also off to a good start over here, feeling motivated and capable!

Breakfast was half an avo on multigrain toast, then I went for a nice long walk. Just finished up lunch, I tried a new recipe - a winter bliss bowl. Basically, roasted veg, raw red cabbage and 3 falafels. It was really tasty, but I'm dubious as to how long it will keep me full for... we'll see!

The work out was tougher than I thought. I’m so unfit these days but it’s given me extra motivation to get moving more.
I like to keep an eye on the scales every morning to keep me on track (even though I know that may sometimes mean I’ve gained a little over night due to hormones etc) as I’d be even more mortified if I only weighed myself once a week and found I’d not even lost a lb 😬

Fembot123 · 10/02/2021 13:52

I can’t do it more than once a week or I’d get disheartened but different things work for everyone ☺️

OhMsBeliever · 10/02/2021 14:20

I usually weigh myself once a week at my boyfriends house. Otherwise I get too obsessed with the scales.

I'm not doing too badly, been for a walk every day. I'm trying the 16:8 plan. Made a lovely veg curry last night and had the leftovers for lunch.

One of my kids wants to make rocky road though. I will try a bit, just out of politeness.Grin

NoNameNellie · 10/02/2021 16:59

Ooh yes, must watch out for Valentines! For me, it's the wine!
