Anyone keen for a 6 week challenge?

I do well with shorter goals and am hoping to focus on shifting some weight and being more active.

Anyone else care to join and see how much weight we can shift (sensibly!) in the next 6 weeks?

People are welcome to join anytime, I personally will be counting from Monday 7th until March 22nd. I was hit pretty hard by lockdown and am the biggest I’ve ever been... I’ve already managed to shift a little bit of weight, now looking to tackle my long term eating habits and sedentary lifestyle in the coming period.

I’ll be sticking to the following :

  1. No snacking.
  2. 5 fruit/veg per day, protein source at every meal.
  3. Trying to hit 10,000 steps a day.

Other than that, I’m not following any diet in particular, I’m trying to change my habits for the long haul. And of course, being comfortable in summer will be an added bonus!

In these 6 weeks, I’m hoping to shift 8-9 pounds, as well as losing a couple of inches off my belly and bum.

Any takers?

I think that's the plan @Fembot123

Maybe I'll take my swimsuit like the uptight British wimp I am. My friends are far cooler and more liberal than me.

One of my friends is a naturist and I’ve been to their camp (for want of a better word) I was a bit shy at first but then so many different body shapes etc there I stripped with the best of them 😁 something very lovely and free about swimming naked.

I’m taking a break from the scales as they are pissing me off but Im sticking to plan of 16/8 and daily exercise.

RunnyPaint · 01/04/2021 16:28

Scales are bastards. Mine are failing to register that I must have been losing weight as I haven't had any wine or crisps. Period is just about over so things may get better in the next few days.

Exactly! Mine are throwing my hard work back in my face by pretending I haven’t lost anything.
PurpleDaisies · 01/04/2021 18:53

I often lose inches but not weight. Scales are a fickle friend.

Fembot123 · 01/04/2021 18:57

They are, the feckers! On a positive note I’ve been for a shortish run and I’ve managed to get a lot faster having shifted 10 pounds.

theotherfossilsister · 01/04/2021 20:36

Thank you. I agree. Scales are utter sadists.

Having a glass of wine and just ate steak, avocado salad and a piece of bread abd refused to feel ashamed. Walked six miles to my co-working hub and back (then again I do that distance most days.)

Also my period is definitely coming tomorrow, I've had spotting for days which is weird for me but someone on another thread said astrazenica does that.

Outside weight loss, I've signed up to a zoom writer's salon where you write without limit about anything for one hour a morning. Weirdly I think this will help with losing weight and generally help me get 'unstuck' if this makes sense.

theotherfossilsister · 01/04/2021 20:37

@Fembot123 so glad you've got faster

I’m glad you don’t feel ashamed, you should be proud of your self control to open a bottle and have just one glass 😁 Yes, that makes sense and also trying anything new can shift you out of a fixed mindset
RunnyPaint · 04/04/2021 11:44

My scales have now noticed my self-control and I am now only 1.5 lb above my target weight, so have lost just under a stone in two months. I still have the CS overhang but I don't want to lose any more as the last time I was lighter than this I looked ill. There is only so much that exercise can do about this type of belly, but I'll not worry as clothes that had been too tight are now comfy and I feel so much better. Now Lent is over I can eat crisps, and I already broke the booze thing with a glass of fizz in a friend's garden yesterday morning...

Thanks to everyone for the support and motivation given in this thread.

Happy Easter! 🐣

Fembot123 · 04/04/2021 13:25

That’s brilliant @RunnyPaint! I did nothing and ate/drank too much yesterday but back on it today and I enjoyed it so it was worth it 😄 Happy Easter

ClaraTheImpossibleGirl · 04/04/2021 21:55

It's been a tough week here with a very heavy AF and school holidays - small DC are not very forgiving when all I want to do is rest! - and there may have been a bit too much chocolate consumed as a result Blush

Well done on being so near your target weight @RunnyPaint! I really hoped my CS tum would disappear as I got near mine. It did not Sad and of course is back with a vengeance since I piled on the pounds gained some weight back. I had subsequent abdominal operations too which didn't help that's my story and I'm sticking to it

Will probably weigh in on Tuesday to see how I'm doing, DP is back at work and the DC are at a sports camp that day, I get a few hours to myself

theotherfossilsister · 05/04/2021 09:38

@RunnyPaint that's fantastic. It must be an amazing feeling to go into spring like that.

Thank you @Fembot123

Afraid I had a terrible weekend food wise. Lack of weight loss dashed me and also my bloody period didn't arrive despite all the pms symptoms. On another thread now where lots of people who have had the vaccine are saying the same so I feel ok about that (and still really happy to be vaccinated.)

Going to restart weight loss today. I think my main problem is lunch as I tend to tell myself I can eat a big carb heavy sandwich as I still need to walk there miles home, but think this is wrong. Going to make a big beetroot and orange soup and just have that this week with a banana so I don't feel to deprived.

@ClaraTheImpossibleGirl that sounds horrible. Hate heavy periods almost as much as pms.

RunnyPaint · 05/04/2021 13:46

Sorry people are having a tough time. I'm at that wonderful time of the month when my next period is probably at least 3 weeks away. My wine and chocolate-fuelled weekend did not go unnoticed by my scales. I'm now 3 lb above target rather than 1.5 lb... Back on my best(ish) behaviour...

ClaraTheImpossibleGirl · 05/04/2021 22:13

@RunnyPaint it is indeed a wonderful time of the month Grin I must weigh in tomorrow to see how my body coped with the last AF and mountains of chocolate...

Good plan with the soup @theotherfossilsister. I don't always find it filling enough on its own - had it about 5pm and am starving again now! - but hopefully the banana will help too. Or you could have a big salad to keep you going? Loads of veg and some meat/ fish/ eggs, depending on what you like to eat!

takingmytimeonmyride · 05/04/2021 22:45

The scales were not my friend this week, and that was before I ate any chocolate.

I have since eaten a chocolate orange Easter egg and have a Lindor one as well.

I put on 1kg.

Rozbos · 19/04/2021 08:41

Dropped off this thread a bit but had a few ups and downs with Easter chocolate 🤣.

Back on it now and officially 9 1/2 stones which I am delighted with. Another 7 pounds to my target but feels doable now. If I lose another 1lb I will be the lightest I have been in about 8 years!

I tried on lots of my clothes yesterday and it was so nice knowing everything would fit and look sooo much better than before.

Very impressed with all the wild swimming, it's something I fancy trying but never quite pluck up the courage!
