Anyone keen for a 6 week challenge?

I do well with shorter goals and am hoping to focus on shifting some weight and being more active.

Anyone else care to join and see how much weight we can shift (sensibly!) in the next 6 weeks?

People are welcome to join anytime, I personally will be counting from Monday 7th until March 22nd. I was hit pretty hard by lockdown and am the biggest I’ve ever been... I’ve already managed to shift a little bit of weight, now looking to tackle my long term eating habits and sedentary lifestyle in the coming period.

I’ll be sticking to the following :

  1. No snacking.
  2. 5 fruit/veg per day, protein source at every meal.
  3. Trying to hit 10,000 steps a day.

Other than that, I’m not following any diet in particular, I’m trying to change my habits for the long haul. And of course, being comfortable in summer will be an added bonus!

In these 6 weeks, I’m hoping to shift 8-9 pounds, as well as losing a couple of inches off my belly and bum.

Any takers?

My husband keeps baking stuff, it's so hard to resist. He put homeade black forest gateau in the fridge last week ffs!

NoNameNellie · 10/02/2021 18:22

Shock It is both my dream and my nightmare to have a DH who bakes delicious cakes!

@Lostsoul231 Good on you for giving the workout a go - it'll get easier!

Dh cooked tonight so it was a pasta mountain. Apparently there was a silly amount of tagliatelle left so he cooked it all. Technically I could hand kept some for lunch but it was really nice so I just ate it all. Oops!

Hiit was hard this morning and a couple of roads were closed so my walk ended up being an hour and a half when I got lost trying to cut through some fields rather than turn back. It was gorgeous out (and freezing). I’m already feeling this morning’s squats in my legs so it’s a good stretch when I’m less full.

SeaShoreGalore · 10/02/2021 21:10

Did pretty well with exercise today - 15000 steps and an hour of yoga - but then went and had spaghetti carbonara for tea - and DIDN'T EVEN BLOODY ENJOY IT!!! Oh the injustice - the waste of calories! It was luke warm and too eggy. Oh well...

Adding to my list of aims I will track everything on My Fitness Pal - that makes a real difference when planning what I'm going to eat in a day.

Turefu · 11/02/2021 08:00

My weight stalled last wek. I weight each Monday and really want to have lower reading this Monday, 15th Feb.

ChonkyChook · 11/02/2021 08:13

Morning Sixers!

Very jealous of those of you having pasta. Sucks when a treat is crap @SeaShoreGalore, I stopped eating takeaways last year because too often they were rubbish. I'm not emotionally robust enough for that kind of disappointment.

I had chicken stir fry for dinner. Left me hungry so a tiny spice of cheese for supper too. Need to up my protein in my evening meal to stop that hunger catching me when the kids are settled.

Latte (Tassimo 60 Cal's apparently) and a tiny spice of wholemeal with peanut butter this morning. Going to go drybrush and throw some fake tan on. Nowhere to go but fake tan is flattering Grin DH just suggested I use it to paint vertical stripes on myself for a slimming effect.

Hope you all have a successful day!

I love fake tan, I’m currently very unseasonably brown 😁 Question re scales, mine are mechanical rather than digital and am I right in thinking I shouldn’t use them on the carpet?

Hi everyone, I'll join please!

I lost 4 stone in 6 months last year, then maintained for 6 months, then have put a stone on since Christmas Shock

So I need to re-lose that stone? Plus at least 1 more for good measure! I know what works for me - 1200-1400 calories a day, low carb, 16:8 and couch to 5k.

1/1/20 225pounds
1/7/20 168pounds
1/12/20 168 pounds
1/2/21 183 pounds

Goal weight 154 pounds

Here we go!

ChonkyChook · 11/02/2021 08:38

I have digital @Fembot123 but I think mechanical do work better on solid surfaces.

4 stone is amazing @myfuckingfreezer! Sounds like you know what you're about.

Lostsoul231 · 11/02/2021 09:06

That’s an amazing achievement!!

I’m 5lbs down since Monday. Not quite sure how I’ve done that but not complaining 😊

PurpleDaisies · 11/02/2021 09:25

It sounds like everyone is doing really well. Four stone is absolutely incredible @myfuckingfreezer.

I slept badly and have a headache so I’m really craving comfort carbs this morning. I’ve decided on a small bag of crisps for a mid morning snack. Hopefully that will be good enough to satisfy. If not, there are two potato waffles I’ll have for a non-very-healthy-but-not-awful lunch!

It’s HIIT and Zumba tonight. I’m not feeling it now but hoping by later I’ll have perked up a bit.

Have a great day all. ☀️

Needsmustnow · 11/02/2021 10:50

I'm still here. Had a good week in terms of exercise and being active. Haven't been running because of the ice, but plenty of weights and yoga and lots of walking.

Eating is going ok - keeping a good fast, eating lots of veggies (already hit more than 30 types for the week) etc.

Unfortunately I'm still drinking Diet Coke and eating biscuits and chocolate and feeling so fed up about. Sugar and coke are my biggest challenges and I fluctuate between thinking I need to quit both and thinking that's not realistic. Then I think "reduce it sensibly" and then I think, "go cold turkey" and then whatever, I binge. And then I think I'm fed up of wasting so much thought on thinking about sugar and coke.

I thought potato waffles were relatively low in calories, I’m so lazy I cook them in the toaster when I have them 😂
NoNameNellie · 11/02/2021 12:04

Hello everyone!

@SeaShoreGalore Oh no!! Nothing worse then when an anticipated treat lets you down! And carbonara too! I'm practically drooling at the mention...

It's been a busy morning for me, the afternoon is also looking the same. Had porridge for breakfast and how going to have the same winter bowl that I made for lunch yesterday. Also had potato and leek soup for dinner last night. I fought the urge for a takeaway, glad I did as the soup was really good!

I can hardly believe the amount I'm saving from forgoing the takeaways and snacks!

@Needsmustnow 30 different types of veg Shock I must try harder, with my broccoli and carrots Grin

Fast day here. May try doing a back to back, which is 1300 over 2 days rather than 500 in one.. Minestrone soup here for lunch as I was hungry, and I've got chicken in a creamy tomato sauce simmering in the slow cooker at home, to have with veg and a little pasta later.

MummytoCSJH · 11/02/2021 16:43

Sorry I'm late but I'd like to join too please! Like another poster I follow a plan - sw - but not religiously, just to remind me to make better choices and I like the accountability of getting weighed (or at the moment having it logged) by someone else. I'm allergic to dairy so struggle to find decent snacks that I really fancy!

Lostsoul231 · 11/02/2021 17:16

Same here @KnobJockey

Broccoli is totally my go to veg. Goes with everything!

I’ve put my hand weights in the kitchen so every time I go to make a drink, I do some weights or squats while the kettle is boiling or the tea is brewing. Teenage son has been looking at me like I’m crazy but I think it’s a good idea and I’m sticking to it Smile

Needsmustnow · 11/02/2021 18:39

30 different types of veg

Yeah, I keep reading how a variety across the week is more important than 5 A Day. You can count veg, fruit, seeds and nuts, although I aim for the veggies.

@Lostsoul231 I have a dumbbell in the kitchen too :)

Broccoli is the chief of vegetables 😄
myfuckingfreezer · 11/02/2021 19:29

Thirty?!

I thought I'd done great at 15!

My go to are onions, peppers and lettuce. Eat those at least once a day

UnwantedGain · 11/02/2021 20:00

Can I join too please? I so need to lose some weight. My favourite pair of jeans are so tight that they caused me to suffer actual pain by the end of the day today. I thought I was just a bit squishy, but it seems to be pretty solid fat Sad
I’ll do 5 a day too, mainly veg, no bread

ChonkyChook · 11/02/2021 20:05

I did two workouts today and didn't snack.

Breakfast - wholemeal toast and peanut butter
Lunch - chicken salad wrap
Dinner - pork and veg

I better be thin tomorrow. I'm so grumpy.

Hallo to newcomers and hope everyone had a good day.

PurpleDaisies · 11/02/2021 20:41

I absolutely love broccoli. It’s what I crave when we’ve been on holiday and eaten out a lot-when I get home I always want masses of it!

Hiit and Zumba were great fun. I’m knackered now. I’ve been trying to tot up how many different types of veg I’ve eaten this week and it isn’t thirty! I had leftover beetroot bourgignon stew for dinner which had beetroot, mushroom, parsnip, celery, carrot, onion and tomatoes. Small portions of each of them though...

Fembot123 · 11/02/2021 20:50

I did a tough body combat workout this morning and a spin on the exercise bike when I got home from work, doing the 16/8 so had a frittata with a prawn salad for lunch and a couple of slices of margherita and garlic bread for dinner. Chicken breasts for snack and a snack pack of cashews.

NoNameNellie · 11/02/2021 22:29

Fantastic @Fembot123! You are on fire!

Ended the day with a bit of a feast - had dumplings for Chinese New Year! Didn’t over eat too much though, which is an achievement for me - I could eat my weight in dumplings!
