Anyone keen for a 6 week challenge?

I do well with shorter goals and am hoping to focus on shifting some weight and being more active.

Anyone else care to join and see how much weight we can shift (sensibly!) in the next 6 weeks?

People are welcome to join anytime, I personally will be counting from Monday 7th until March 22nd. I was hit pretty hard by lockdown and am the biggest I’ve ever been... I’ve already managed to shift a little bit of weight, now looking to tackle my long term eating habits and sedentary lifestyle in the coming period.

I’ll be sticking to the following :

  1. No snacking.
  2. 5 fruit/veg per day, protein source at every meal.
  3. Trying to hit 10,000 steps a day.

Other than that, I’m not following any diet in particular, I’m trying to change my habits for the long haul. And of course, being comfortable in summer will be an added bonus!

In these 6 weeks, I’m hoping to shift 8-9 pounds, as well as losing a couple of inches off my belly and bum.

Any takers?

I add about a tsp of psyllium husks to yoghurt, once a day, along with some seeds etc. It's low carb, practically zero calorie, natural & very good for making you feel more full. You do need to mix it very well with the yogurt (it can go in other things too) otherwise it's really dry & gritty. You also need to drink plenty of liquid alongside it, or it can make you a bit constipated.

LegoCaltrops
Thanks for the tip. I’ll consider trying that Smile

RubyGoat · 09/02/2021 05:57

No problem @Lostsoul231. I'm also trying a sleep supplement, in an effort to tackle my chronic insomnia, which I suspect is one of my biggest issues against losing the weight. Intermittent success so far... great the first 2 nights, had a night off due to the migraine, then tonight - ha!

ElvenDreamer · 09/02/2021 06:18

@Needsmustnow

I had a good day. Ran, did my weights and yoga and got my steps in. I meditated. I ate lots of veggies.

Then I had a falling out with DP so ended up comforting myself / rebelling with a Diet Coke and Blue Riband chocolate bar, both completely emotional eating Sad

Oh I feel your pain, I 100% have the emotional eating downfall, and lockdown really hasn't helped with that!
ChonkyChook · 09/02/2021 06:26

Morning Campers!

Re: cellulite I don't have it and I use a brush twice a day and DH gives me a full body massage a few times a week. Could be coincidence though.

My finger is hovering over Burt's bees body oils on Amazon, I don't want saggy/crepey skin and stretch marks. I might be plump but my arse is round and smooth and I want it to stay like that.

Eggs and spinach for breakfast.

Chocolot01 · 09/02/2021 08:39

Morning , can I join ? Managed to slowly lose 20 pounds last July -Dec then the weight has crept back on. Weight today 143 pounds. Will be back on my fitness pal and no snacking after dinner.

CarlottaValdez · 09/02/2021 08:55

Morning all! I’ve been for a short walk (so bloody cold!) and now planning to not eat until lunch at 12.

dudsville · 09/02/2021 08:56

I started doing exercise after work last week, today I ventured in to the scales and I've lost a couple of pounds! I'm in the luxurious position of having not been exercising, those who have to exercise more on top of already exercising have it tougher I think. But I can share that pain in that my diet is already healthy in content sense that it's portion size I have to cut back on. Sad

Lostsoul231 · 09/02/2021 09:13

2lbs off this morning. Probably due to the water I drank yesterday but it’s a positive start. Smile

Fembot123 · 09/02/2021 10:12

I’m getting afraid of the half term next week and falling off the wagon.

Turefu · 09/02/2021 10:42

I had my SlimFast shake for breakfast, I took some raw veg and yoghurt for my lunch .

KnobJockey · 09/02/2021 10:46

I'll join in! I'm trying to do 5:2, and id like to say 16:8, but I am drinking tea with milk during the fasting hours. Fast day completed yesterday.

I weighed in at 13.5 yesterday, 13.2 this morning, but obviously that's with very little food in me. Aiming to lose 4 kgs between a nurses appointment I had on 13th Jan to the next on 13th April, which is absolutely achievable, so hopefully this will help that. Would love to break into the 12s, but its elusive at the minute

I’m 16/8ing as well 😁 I’m at work this morning and haven’t brought anything so couldn’t snack or break my fast if I wanted to. Looking forward to lunch though

Welcome to all the new comers!

@Carriemac thanks for the info, it looks really interesting! I'm going to see how this week goes, but love the idea of really going back to whole food for my eating!

@Needsmustnow I know... I eat when I'm bored, celebrating, sad, stressed... One of the DC is going through a naughty stage and everything is a battle. Once I've finally wrestled all of them into bed, I'm exhausted and just want sugary treats!

@Lostsoul231 Let me know how you get on with the brush, I've found the best thing for cellulite has been diet and exercise unfortunately I lost quite a bit of weight a few years ago, admittedly in younger days, couldn't believe the different toning and a better diet made. I had resigned myself to accepting that this was how it was going to be from now on, but my health kick really made a big difference to my cellulite. Now, if only I had the time and energy to dedicate myself to the hour long intense workouts that I was doing back then!

I'm off to a good start as well! Had breakfast this morning - half an avocado on whole grain bread!

Currently trying to motivate myself to do a youtube exercise video, but I'm stalling!

Try body combat, it’s fun and a great workout
ChonkyChook · 09/02/2021 17:34

Breakfast was spinach and eggs.
Lunch - cottage cheese and raw veg
Dinner - small portion of chicken, wholegrain rice and steamed veg.
Load of water.

The kids are eating mini Cadbury fingers and they smell so good. Will be doing my workout once they're in bed. I too want treats once I've wrangled them to bed @NoNameNellie

NoNameNellie · 09/02/2021 17:47

@Fembot123 Thanks for the recommendation! I ended up doing a quick dance workout from Pamela Reif. It's here if anyone is interested!

It's not the most strenuous workout out there, but I've injured my back a little and needed to take things slow, so it was perfect just to get me moving.

@ChonkyChook I haven't even got the excuse of a stressful bedtime today! I'm a teacher on holidays at the moment (live outside of the UK) and I'm looking after my niece and nephew, whose parents are key workers. We did some baking this afternoon and I inhaled a couple many treats! Shock

Anyway, today has been as follows :

B: 3 small slices of wholegrain bread with half an avocado + a pear
L: Leftover asian slaw with cod, roasted cauliflower
D: 2 small slices of whole grain bread with two fried eggs (olive oil) and the remainder of the slaw.

Snack... a glass of apricot juice, a pistachio pastry and 2 slices of choc banana cake!!

I think I've made my dessert for the week...

I’m looking for support to maintain through healthy eating and lots of exercise rather than necessarily losing any more weight. I love the idea of a six week healthy eating/exercise blast though. Would it be ok to join in?

ChonkyChook · 09/02/2021 17:49

I'll try that workout, fancy a change. Will take my mind off wanting a pistachio pastry.....

NoNameNellie · 09/02/2021 17:54

@PurpleDaisies Hello! Of course, you're very welcome here!

Do you have any particular goals in mind, or are you just focusing on eating better and moving more?

Thanks for posting the dance workout. I’m very tired tonight so having a lazy evening but plan to do this workout tomorrow morning.

PurpleDaisies · 09/02/2021 18:11

Hmm-goals. Need to think about that one! Staying below what was my target weight for one. I’ve just bought some heavier dumbbells and I can’t do all my hiit class with them yet. That would be a good thing. I might aim for five a day five days a week for food.

Fembot123 · 09/02/2021 18:45

I did some spinning, I’d definitely leave body combat if you have a sore back as it might make it worse.

SeaShoreGalore · 09/02/2021 19:09

Yay! I’m in. Have gained 8-9lb with lockdown and can’t seem to shift it. It’s enough to have gone from feeling slim and great, to Ok, but only from certain angles Grin. My aim is

1200 calories a day.
One sweet treat a day
10000 steps a day
Yoga every day (even if it’s only ten mins)
Bike ride every day when above freezing and there’s not an actual storm on.

I recon 8-9lb is more than doable in 6 weeks if I stick to that!
