Anyone keen for a 6 week challenge?

NoNameNellie · 07/02/2021 18:50

I do well with shorter goals and am hoping to focus on shifting some weight and being more active.

Anyone else care to join and see how much weight we can shift (sensibly!) in the next 6 weeks?

People are welcome to join anytime, I personally will be counting from Monday 7th until March 22nd. I was hit pretty hard by lockdown and am the biggest I’ve ever been... I’ve already managed to shift a little bit of weight, now looking to tackle my long term eating habits and sedentary lifestyle in the coming period.

I’ll be sticking to the following :

  1. No snacking.
  2. 5 fruit/veg per day, protein source at every meal.
  3. Trying to hit 10,000 steps a day.

Other than that, I’m not following any diet in particular, I’m trying to change my habits for the long haul. And of course, being comfortable in summer will be an added bonus!

In these 6 weeks, I’m hoping to shift 8-9 pounds, as well as losing a couple of inches off my belly and bum.

Any takers?

Stay with us @NoNameNellie, so hard isn’t it, I’m refusing to weigh myself as I just feel heavier if that makes any sense 😂😂 I think I’m pre menstrual again.

buckeejit · 15/03/2021 21:12

@LivingMyBestLife2020 that is awesome results!

For hectic work, if you can make a load of soup, I always find it a satisfying and quick meal. I made a lovely roasted celeriac soup and put some chilli flakes, ground coriander and ginger in it, then when it had cooked, felt it needed a little something else and squeezed a lemon and some honey into it. It has been delicious!

I'm still getting round to fitness classes/workouts but there's a lot of garden to dig up so think that will be energetic when the time comes!

I'm really hoping we get a little more freedom in the coming weeks

Fembot123 · 16/03/2021 21:22

Went for a run tonight, really hard and not in the mood but we struggled round, sometimes it just feels so hard.

PurpleDaisies · 16/03/2021 21:51

I felt exactly the same for yesterday’s hiit. I’m reasoning that my body doesn’t know I can’t be arsed-it feels thd exercise anyway x

ClaraTheImpossibleGirl · 16/03/2021 22:48

@buckeejit do you have a recipe for the celeriac soup please? I got one on my veg box and have zero idea of what to do with it Blush

@RunnyPaint my aerobics instructor (from a few years ago, before I had my DC!) has taken all her classes onto Zoom, it's worked really well for her. She said the 'in person' evening classes are particularly tiring, especially in winter when she then has to lock up school/ village halls by herself in the dark. I completely understand where she's coming from and still support her, although I do miss going to an old fashioned aerobics class. It was where I finally discovered a love of exercise after many years of hating PE and all things related to it thanks to traumatic schoolday experiences!

2lb off this week, but only 0.5lb last week so it has evened out Grin I'm feeling very unmotivated this week though. Must stay away from the chocolate...

PurpleDaisies · 17/03/2021 11:10

Everyone seems to be finding this week hard. I was naughty and turned the camera away from me during this morning’s hiit so my instructor couldn’t see I was lying on the floor panting.

I’ve run out of chocolate at home after raiding the cooking chocolate stash yesterday. I need some healthy treats!

ElvenDreamer · 17/03/2021 12:13

Yes, it's a tough time at the moment. @PurpleDaisies your post cheered me up so much, I'm just so glad to know I'm not alone in raiding baking ingredients when desperate.
@Fembot123 I know what you mean about forcing yourself round a run, that's how I felt in my zoom HIT/clubbercise last night, really just wanted to go to bed but made myself do it.

On the upside I have just had a lovely lunch of courgetti bolognese and it was super tasty and filling too. Planning half a baked sweet potato with some left over cauliflower/pea/mint mix to fill it for tea.

NoNameNellie · 17/03/2021 21:12

Chin up everyone! It’s been a really tough week for everyone, it seems... I’ve just stopped work for tonight, but nowhere near bloody finished! I’m going to have to set an alarm to go in early and sort things out... sigh.

Let’s jus keep plodding on, fresh food and movement will do more good that greasy plates of comfort food.

Tough week here too. I just can't get back into the swing of things, despite having a bit more time on my hands Blush I think subconsciously I know that I need to get everything done before the Easter holidays, and it's pushing me into procrastination!

PurpleDaisies · 18/03/2021 15:43

Unbelievably, since Monday’s weigh in I’ve lost 1.5kg. Maybe it was all water weight earlier in the week after a salty supper on Sunday evening. That was a nice boost.

I’m making a baked daal recipe for tea tonight so I shove it in the oven when I’m doing Zumba. Onwards and downwards! Hope everyone’s hanging in there. Better weather has helped me today.

NoNameNellie · 18/03/2021 19:43

@PurpleDaisies Nice one! That's amazing, well done you! Weather is shite here, but it's really work that's getting me down... the amount I'm having to take home at the moment is ridiculous. Not to mention this weekend is going to be full of it as well.

@ClaraTheImpossibleGirl Yep, same! I just can't seem to clear my head and get back into it. Frustrating.

Well done @PurpleDaisies although I think I may have inherited your 1.5kg Grin

I really need to do some proper meal planning and a good food shop before the Easter holidays @NoNameNellie but keep finding other things I also need to do and putting them first...!

Fembot123 · 19/03/2021 23:27

This dropped off my watch list

MotherofPiggies · 20/03/2021 08:20

Hello all, just checking in again after a break of a couple of weeks. I have managed to stay sugar and bread free since the start of lent and am following 16:8 combined with MFP. I’ve been trying lower carb for the past couple of weeks and have finally managed to lose 3lbs. Going to try and keep it going after Easter as feel much better for not being on a blood sugar roller coaster!

RunnyPaint · 20/03/2021 10:35

My alcohol- and crisp-free Lent was briefly interrupted by two glasses of wine on Mother's Day, but otherwise going OK. DD made some fabulous shortbread the other day and I managed to not guzzle it all in one go, so that's a win. Her other influences are more helpful, as she is still going strong with Couch25k.

Sorry that so many of you have had a hard week. I hope that next week is better.

Fembot123 · 20/03/2021 11:19

Was supposed to run today but not feeling it, did get up at 5.45 yesterday to exercise before the madness started so I was pleased with that. Not weighing myself as I’m on my period and I got burnt by that last time! Have great weekends 6ers

PurpleDaisies · 20/03/2021 17:53

Thanks @ClaraTheImpossibleGirl. I’ve had awful endo pain the last couple of days and been eating to stop the nausea. Hoping it won’t be too bad on the scales. It was necessary!

Today I’ve felt better and went out for a walk which ended up being nine miles. So lovely to see the lambs in the fields.

Happy Saturday everyone :£

ClaraTheImpossibleGirl · 20/03/2021 22:24

Well done on your 9 miler @PurpleDaisies!! I must keep an eye out for the lambs; we usually go to a local lambing event but obviously that won't be on this year Sad

Sorry to hear about the endo pain too. I ate crisps by the ton when I was pregnant as I had so much nausea, may explain why I got to over 100kg Blush

@Fembot123 I've taken to doing a Joe Wicks workout rather than trying to run. I wasn't getting any better at it - can only do one run a week at the moment and not the three I need to improve! - a short HIIT workout is definitely more motivating!

PurpleDaisies · 20/03/2021 23:17

Thanks @ClaraTheImpossibleGirl, we live quite rurally so the fields are full at the moment. Here are a few from today...

It’s a shame that whenever I’m nauseous it’s never fruit and veg that does the trick. I don’t think I ate anything that wasn’t beige and salty for three days! Ah well, needs must. Much better now so tomorrow is hopefully going to be a rainbow of lovely food.

I wish I was good at running. I’ve done it a bit in the past but it’s never been enjoyable so I keep ditching it. I’m always in awe of anyone who can run!

Anyone keen for a 6 week challenge?
NoNameNellie · 20/03/2021 23:26

Managed a run today, trying to get back on track! Not sure if it really counts though, it was so windy I hardly had to do any work 😂

buckeejit · 21/03/2021 09:10

@ClaraTheImpossibleGirl sorry just seen this. I usually make it up as I go but this is good.

I cut the celeriac into chunks & roast in a hot overnight for 40 mins odd, though you could skip this part. Then fry an onion, Chuck in some celery & ground ginger, ground coriander & chilli flakes if you like, (about half a tsp of each), cover with stock, simmer for 25 mins & blitz). If it's too thick you can add coconut milk, but while blending, I've added juice of a lemon or lime & about a tblsp of honey.

Roast dinner today for my parents so optimistically still hoping for a little loss tomorrow Grin

RunnyPaint · 21/03/2021 12:33

That celeriac soup recipe sounds delicious!

Well done for the run @NoNameNellie! You must have had to run into the wind for some of the time, so you will have been working!

DD completed week 5 of Couch25k this morning, so I'm really proud of her. I couldn't catch her during the last sprint back to the house, so she's going to be unbeatable over the longer distances soon.

I'm happily wearing jeans that were getting too tight two years ago!!

Fembot123 · 21/03/2021 16:24

Dragged DS out for a walk, he managed 7 miles so not bad for little legs. Soup sounds lovely and well done on the jeans @RunnyPaint

NoNameNellie · 21/03/2021 21:51

Great work @RunnyPaint! And well done to your DD, great to have a running buddy! Anytime I manage to drag my lot out, they leave me for dust !

Please can I join?

75kg at five foot four.

I'd love to be 70kg in six weeks and 65in twelve weeks.

Last weighed on Wednesday so six weeks from that is April 28th.

I have RA massively exacerbated by the weight but trying to exercise.

Will weigh in every Wednesday. Was too down on myself to join a thread like this when weighed.

Thank you for starting this excellent useful thread.

Oh, we have a UK holiday booked in May - 22nd to 29th and would love to be slimmer for that (if Covid allows.)
