Anyone keen for a 6 week challenge?

I do well with shorter goals and am hoping to focus on shifting some weight and being more active.

Anyone else care to join and see how much weight we can shift (sensibly!) in the next 6 weeks?

People are welcome to join anytime, I personally will be counting from Monday 7th until March 22nd. I was hit pretty hard by lockdown and am the biggest I’ve ever been... I’ve already managed to shift a little bit of weight, now looking to tackle my long term eating habits and sedentary lifestyle in the coming period.

I’ll be sticking to the following :

  1. No snacking.
  2. 5 fruit/veg per day, protein source at every meal.
  3. Trying to hit 10,000 steps a day.

Other than that, I’m not following any diet in particular, I’m trying to change my habits for the long haul. And of course, being comfortable in summer will be an added bonus!

In these 6 weeks, I’m hoping to shift 8-9 pounds, as well as losing a couple of inches off my belly and bum.

Any takers?

Thank you for the recipe @buckeejit, I may give it a go tomorrow!

Lovely photos @PurpleDaisies Smile

@Fembot123 I'm impressed by your DS managing 7 miles, I don't think either of mine would get that far, or not without a bike/ scooter anyway!

Welcome @theotherfossilsister! Are you following any particular diet or just cutting calories etc?

LivingMyBestLife2020 · 22/03/2021 08:44

So my 6 week challenge is complete 😊 I am over the moon!

Started at 10 stone 12lb (69kg / 152lbs) and a size 12.

Weighed in today at a smidge over 10 stone (10 stone o.2lb to be precise) so a loss of 12lbs or 5.5kg! My size 10 clothes are loose and I bought myself some size 8 dresses which I can fit into but still a teeny bit tight.

I’m going to carry on and try and lose the extra half stone in the next 6 weeks 😊

ClaraTheImpossibleGirl · 22/03/2021 12:39

Well done @LivingMyBestLife2020!

Just checked my six week stats, I've lost just over half a stone - 1lb this week takes me to 7.5lb for the 6 weeks. Not spectacular but hopefully maintainable (I still have 40lb+ to go), plus it's not been too difficult. I could probably lose weight more quickly if I was very strict but frankly chocolate is sometimes a necessity when dealing with the DC Confused

I may set my own 10 week challenge to take me up to half term week, see if I can lose a stone by then...!

Are we carrying on for another 6 weeks, I have lost at least 9 pounds but still have at least another 9 to go 😄

PurpleDaisies · 22/03/2021 15:22

Yes please! I’ve really enjoyed this thread.

LivingMyBestLife2020 · 22/03/2021 15:25

Yep! I am in!

theotherfossilsister · 22/03/2021 16:39

@ClaraTheImpossibleGirl just cutting out pastries/chocolates/wine and trying to eat less carbs (I find going carb free too hard.)

Thank you for the welcome. I'm already fearing Wednesday's weigh in
.

Fembot123 · 22/03/2021 16:47

@theotherfossilsister

Please can I join?

75kg at five foot four.

I'd love to be 70kg in six weeks and 65in twelve weeks.

Last weighed on Wednesday so six weeks from that is April 28th.

I have RA massively exacerbated by the weight but trying to exercise.

Will weigh in every Wednesday. Was too down on myself to join a thread like this when weighed.

Thank you for starting this excellent useful thread.

Oh, we have a UK holiday booked in May - 22nd to 29th and would love to be slimmer for that (if Covid allows.)

I was the same way when I first weighed myself properly ready to start this but this thread has kept me going 😋

I don’t know where the tongue out emoji sprang from, was probably thinking about the lush recipes that have been shared!

ChonkyChook · 22/03/2021 18:30

77kg to 72.9kg

Maintained again this week but other than sticking to 16/8 I've eaten whatever was in front of me because I'm ill.

Good to know 16/8 will work for maintenance once I'm at goal weight.

Well done everyone on your losses, can honestly say the accountability here has kept me on track so thank you to everyone x

Yes it’s good to know, I’m a 16/8er too and find it manageable
Rozbos · 22/03/2021 19:36

Can I join for the next 6 weeks please?

Current weight 138lbs
Goal weight 126lbs
5ft 7 in

I'm going to be tracking macros in mfp as I find that works really well for me. Exercise wise I love the gym so that's no hardship and I do a (zoom) CrossFit class everyday and like running too although currently injured.

Hoping I can get out of the 130's in the next six weeks!

Fembot123 · 22/03/2021 20:09

😯

theotherfossilsister · 22/03/2021 20:23

thank you @Fembot123 - yes, I felt awful when I was weighed at the hospital and told the number but feeling happier now and more proactive

Did have some wine last night though, and two pieces of toast between lunch and dinner today which I definitely didn't need, just because I was feeling a bit down. Ah well. Have restarted C25K after a fortnight off for creaky joints and gone back to week six - which felt like a small but important step forward.

I noticed I creak more now, have started taking a cod liver oil supplement to see if it helps.

Restarting c25k is a great step forward. Well done.

theotherfossilsister · 22/03/2021 20:33

thank you @ChonkyChook

Might try the Cod Liver Oil

Fembot123 · 22/03/2021 20:35

My knees make a cracking sound when I’m jumping 😄 Yes, no sense in beating yourself up over a few slip ups as I think that makes you more likely to give up all together.

theotherfossilsister · 22/03/2021 20:51

thank you @Fembot123 - I think my knees would definitely thank me for losing five kilos, and thank me even more for losing ten. Maybe we should do this just for our knees? (although other reasons matter too.)

And yes, I'll not beat myself up, just try to eat less tomorrow, I guess (day before weigh in makes it easier.)

ChonkyChook · 23/03/2021 18:08

Feels great to have a fresh page in the start of a new 6 weeks.

Lack of exercise is annoying me but I'm out of breath pegging out washing at the moment. Bloody chest infection.

Falafel for lunch, paella for dinner.

It is frustrating when you’ve got into the groove and I hope you feel better ASAP.
theotherfossilsister · 23/03/2021 21:04

Ah @ChonkyChook how bloody frustrating. I hope you're eating lots of lovely healing foods. Midnight Chicken by Ella Risbridger has some beautiful recipes for getting well.

Have decided not to weigh myself tomorrow but don't fortnightly instead. It sounds like a cop out but actually feels better for me to do fortnightly as I know that if I see no weight lost I'll just get very down and want to eat and eat and eat.

I feel healthier already for running but want to give it until 31st then know where I am going into April.

You have to weigh yourself precisely the way you know will work for you or it will work against you in exactly the way you describe. I was similar, in fact I refused point blank to weigh myself until I knew for a fact I’d lost some weight and so I don’t know exactly how much I’ve lost but at the time I just couldn’t cope.
ChonkyChook · 23/03/2021 21:56

Thanks for the good wishes Fem and Fossil.

Weighing fortnightly is absolutely not a cop out if it's what works for you. Half the battle is motivation and keeping that going is more important than a weekly weigh in.
