Vanity pounds to lose - any takers?

PrincessConsuelaBH · 12/10/2020 21:09

So I have approx. 15lbs to lose to get back to my comfortable weight and for my clothes to fit! Thanks to lockdown and a toddler that still doesn't sleep meaning I rely on sugar to get me through the day...

I'm aiming to break it up into 3 5lb mini goals so I don't feel like it's unmanageable before I ever start Grin

Nothing faddy, just planning to make better choices with my food, plan more, and move more too. I have some short-ish term goals that I'm hoping will be enough motivation for me to shift the weight 👶🏻

Anyone want to join? I'd be happy to keep a list going (if there's not too many of us!) to record our weights and losses if anyone would want that too.

Done just over 9 miles in total today. Might make up for the 2 greggs sausage rolls I had for lunch 😂😂

momo3w · 21/10/2020 19:53

@BrimfulOfBaba Loving the sound of your meals!
I had a busy day yesterday so food intake was lowish although the calories still added up.
Coffee and a late lunch/early dinner was smoked salmon, cream cheese & mesculan on sourdough and a bit of dark choc with a peppermint tea in the evening. I weighed out a portion of cream cheese and laughed at how pathetic it seemed - I’d probably usually have 3x that amount so it’s easy to see how I’ve stacked on the weight 😳

DownUdderer · 22/10/2020 05:38

Hi, I'd love to join in if I may? I've lost a stone and just need to lose 7lb to reach target weight. I'm just really wanting it gone, now, asap!

Starting weight 10st
Goal weight 9st 7
I'm 5'4.

I'd just like to feel better when I'm sitting down, I don't want my jeans to be cutting me in half!

PrincessConsuelaBH · 22/10/2020 07:27

Looks like everyone is eating reasonably well! Do remember that this is still only early days and we're all trying to break habits we've had for a long time so no big deal if we have the occasional 'bad' meal Smile

My meals were all fairly healthy yesterday but looking back they were carb-heavy - I'll have to adjust this if I'm wanting a loss on Monday as I know my body doesn't appreciate lots of carbs Grin I had porridge and apple for breakfast, a cheese and salad sandwich with a packet of crisps for lunch and veggie lasagne for tea. Snacks weren't good though - a Yorkie bar and a blueberry muffin Blush

Breakfast might be porridge again today as it's so filling and I'm at work. I've got leftover sweet potato and roasted red pepper soup for lunch (think I'll avoid having it with bread) and Halloumi and salad burgers planned for tea.

I had an accident at the pub last mouthy and drank 3 large red wines (equivalent to a bottle! Blush). Also ended up having some oven chips with my dinner so not the greatest day. As I'm now horribly hungover I don't expect today will be super healthy but I'll try.

BrimfulOfBaba · 22/10/2020 09:22

@momo3w thank you - meal planning is part of what constitutes my 'fun' these days Blush

Good luck today everyone!

I didn't exercise very much yesterday, didn't time things well and only cross-trained for 20-ish mins and didn't get up to 10,000 steps. But anything's better than nothing, I keep telling myself and today should be less busy :)

PurpleDaisies · 22/10/2020 09:25

I’ve had a couple of days away and it’s period time so I’ve fallen off the wagon a bit. It was a beige carb day yesterday and I’m fighting the urge to do the same today. I’ve booked a yoga class this morning and possibly Zumba tonight. Goodness knows what I’m going to eat.

swampytiggaa · 22/10/2020 09:57

Just done a couple of miles on the treadmill and got a ballet class this evening 🙂

Not planning to eat until 12 today seem to be doing 18:6 fasts mostly.

pluiedeprintemps · 22/10/2020 14:51

Can I join in ?
I’m 1m65 and was 68.4kg last Saturday - I want to get to 63/64ish as this is the weight I feel “right” at. So I have 5kg to loose. I would like to loose them before Christmas.

NibbleQueen · 22/10/2020 16:32

swampy yeah I've found fasting helps... Mostly because it's fewer calories! Maybe I'll try fasting until lunch as that'll mean forgoing breakfast and a mid-morning snack, easily 300cals less in a day which might be enough to shift the needle!

I was planning to not drink for a few weeks but I've got a few fun plans upcoming that will definitely include lots of wine and I want to enjoy those.. So maybe limiting to one or two days a week will be the answer.

Ha ha! This is too frequently me, and I don't exercise shilo I can't make up for those moments.

I'm having a bizarre day today. I had a banana, then eggs and toast, then a few ryevita with a little hummus, olives and cherry tomatoes, and I seem to be fine to be done eating. I'm having one of my 150 calories German beers and will probably have one more. But how odd. Please let this be my new eating habit.

Hi pluiedeprintemps, welcome!
swampytiggaa · 22/10/2020 18:14

Today I have eaten...

A sandwich baguette with butter and 4 slices of chicken and a pork and pickle pie.

Slice of coffee cake H had made.

Leftover cauliflower cheese for tea.

Clicked start on my fast at 5pm as I have ballet at 7:30 and won’t want to eat anything afterwards 🙂

BrimfulOfBaba · 22/10/2020 18:47

Welcome @pluiedeprintemps!

@swampytiggaa love the sound of what you've had today.

My eating today is almost the exact same as yesterday, managed to successfully meal prep for once.

Just finished a legs workout and had a long walk at lunchtime. I'm on track for my deficit so am skipping the cross trainer today. Which is ace as I have a virtual movie night with a friend in an hour!

PrincessConsuelaBH · 22/10/2020 19:04

@DownUdderer and @pluiedeprintemps welcome to you both! We're a friendly bunch, get stuck in with us Grin I will pop you both on the list when I update again Monday.

Didn't do too badly today despite hangover!

B: scrambled eggs, sourdough, spinach
S: about 6 squares of choc, 2 rice cakes, pear
L: veg soup
D: lemon sole, broccoli, spinach, mochi for pudding

Think I'll probs start fasting in the morning, at least for a couple of weeks

momo3w · 22/10/2020 19:52

Going in to a long weekend here in NZ. We are getting pizza for dinner tonight as my oldest boy has been away at camp all week. Would typically write off the day as a ‘bad’ eating day and have anything and everything - what’s with that mindset? But I’m just going to eat lightly during the day and aim to just have a few slices and not a whole pizza? Who am I? 🤷🏻‍♀️

dudsville · 22/10/2020 20:44

I missed you there downudder, I'd just like to feel better when I'm sitting down, I don't want my jeans to be cutting me in half! Same here! I just want things to be a little loose. Anyway, welcome!

PurpleDaisies · 22/10/2020 20:47

Today hasn’t been too bad at all, especially considering I met a friend for lunch. The cafe had a lovely avocado on toast dish with chilli kale on the side. Definitely better than the falafel burger with onion rings I usually have there and tasted great. Will nick that for home. I’ve done Zumba and yoga so hoping that will counteract the lemon drizzle cake I had for pudding...

Keep going everyone!

dudsville · 22/10/2020 20:49

Those of you doing fasts, I'm curious to hear more. I went from 3pm ish until 8 am, and then I only had the banana because I was going into back to back meetings. I have some sort of fear of being a little hungry and it preoccupies me. I'm not tiny, I'm not going to faint. Curious to reduce me window of eating without having fast whole days.

Happyface120 · 22/10/2020 21:01

Can I join please? I've had a terrible 6 months of eating. Was 65kg at end of February, on Monday I was 73kg! And I'm only 5'6"...

Am attempting a short sharp shock of 2x meal replacement shakes (200cal each) then a healthy dinner for 2 weeks, then will be a bit more sensible and just cut out the crap/up the veg etc.
Just need a bit of a head start. Have done 4 days of shakes so far, and its been fine...

swampytiggaa · 22/10/2020 21:12

You sort of go past being hungry iyswim? I’m often starving by 8am then 10am but if I have a drink it passes and sometimes I realise it’s 2pm and I haven’t eaten.

It works for me because if I start eating in the morning I don’t stop 😂😂

Only time I have breakfast is if I am doing a race. I will happily run up to half marathon distance fasted but that’s with me starting my run at 7/8am. Races typically start at 10am and I prefer to have porridge on those days. Not that races are going to be an issue for quite a while 😢

Not eating in the evening stops mindless snacking on chocolate fingers and galaxy. So that’s a win too.

PurpleDaisies · 22/10/2020 21:25

I have never gone past being hungry in my life! A small protein heavy snack usually sorts me out until dinner.

DownUdderer · 22/10/2020 22:04

I fast from 6:00pm until 10:30am. So early dinner and late breakfast, I started because I wanted to stop my evening snack habit.

momo3w · 22/10/2020 22:50

I’ve tried various forms of fasting and in general I like the concept and find it easy to stick to. 16:8 is the best for me - which means 16hr fasting window (no food, water, black coffee/tea only) and then 8hr eating window. I generally do 10/11am - 6/7pm but I’m not rigid with it so it might be anything from a 4, 6, or 8hr window that I end up eating but the main focus for me is stopping after dinner so that when I’m getting the kids ready for bed I brush my teeth too and call it a day. I’ve also tried 5:2 (5 days normal eating, 2 whole days fasting) but I found i overcompensated on the days I could eat. It’s actually to the point now where that’s a very normal way of eating for me but I can still end up eating a lot of food in that timeframe if I chose to so, like now, I need to reset and reduce my portions, cut calories and once I’m seeing steady loss on the scales then go back to this to simplify things.
