Vanity pounds to lose - any takers?

PrincessConsuelaBH · 12/10/2020 21:09

So I have approx. 15lbs to lose to get back to my comfortable weight and for my clothes to fit! Thanks to lockdown and a toddler that still doesn't sleep meaning I rely on sugar to get me through the day...

I'm aiming to break it up into 3 5lb mini goals so I don't feel like it's unmanageable before I ever start Grin

Nothing faddy, just planning to make better choices with my food, plan more, and move more too. I have some short-ish term goals that I'm hoping will be enough motivation for me to shift the weight 👶🏻

Anyone want to join? I'd be happy to keep a list going (if there's not too many of us!) to record our weights and losses if anyone would want that too.

Feeling on the hungry side today so perhaps I'll save the fasting for tomorrow. But a couple of boiled eggs + miso soup is normally v filling for breakfast.

Dinner tonight will be either a takeaway or a pub dinner... But it is Friday afterall

swampytiggaa · 23/10/2020 09:48

3.5 miles done on the treadmill 🙂 will be eating from about 12 today as usual.

Not sure what we’re eating today tho lol

PurpleDaisies · 23/10/2020 09:55

I’ve just done a thirty minute hiit class and I’m off to Pilates. Think I might actually drop down dead.

Nothing in for breakfast so have had a crumpet. It’s veg box roulette for lunch including some lovely looking tenderstem broccoli I’m planning on stir frying with chilli and sesame seeds.

BrimfulOfBaba · 23/10/2020 10:17

@swampytiggaa and @PurpleDaisies good going on the morning workouts! I really want to do morning workouts but atm it's lucky if I roll out of bed with 5 mins to spare before work starts (working from home at the moment!).

My DP told me yesterday I'm looking really healthy and well which has been encouraging, especially as I was a bit down about the weight not coming off faster. I know that if I restricted more, I'd get there faster - but I had to remind myself I'm in no rush and want to enjoy life while I do this!

Today's meals:

B: Skyr, low sugar granola, blueberries. Maybe a ginger tea.
L: Chickpea salad with usual salad bits, a bit of pesto, 50g mozzarella
D: Steak night! DP got us some lovely aged steaks from Sainsbury's that come with black garlic butter. Will have this with tenderstem and 100g oven chips, and I'm allotting myself 2 glasses of red.

This comes to only 1,207 calories in today which I am surprised by. Will be doing 45 mins on the cross trainer today, an arms workout and maybe an abs one too.

swampytiggaa · 23/10/2020 10:47

@BrimfulOfBaba I love morning runs but normally I work 5-10am so no way am I running before that 😂😂 I sometimes put my running kit on under my uniform so I have no excuse when I get home.

I’ve got this week off so I’m making the most of it 🙂

dudsville · 23/10/2020 18:23

Agh, just deleted my post.

Welcome happy!

And I've eaten in a small window of 9 am and 3 pm. I had eggs and toast for breakfast with peanut butter on the last quarter of toast. I had a luxuriant late lunch of baked salmon with store bought antipasti. I'm having beer again.

bellinique · 23/10/2020 18:35

I am determined to lose some weight this week and have been pretty good so far.

I've always skipped breakfast and don't usually eat anything until 1 or 2pm. So I've been naturally doing 16:8 for years (but have still managed to pile on the pounds Blush)

I've been having cottage cheese on toast (thanks to this thread) for lunch and a vegetable filled vegan dinner every day, no snacks. If I haven't lost anything from that then the wine is to blame... Either that or the Friday night take away which dp is currently suggesting. Weekends are so tough!

swampytiggaa · 23/10/2020 19:08

Jam sandwich for lunch ate several shortbread biscuits this afternoon then chilli rice cheese and tortilla chips for tea. Pressed start on my fast at 5:30. Run planned with friends tomorrow morning 🙂

Happyface120 · 23/10/2020 19:34

I have stuck to shakes for breakfast and lunch, about to have Joe Wicks lamb mince stuffed peppers- no carbs on the side for me. However, am planning on drinking a pint of wine and eating some cheese...

BrimfulOfBaba · 23/10/2020 20:56

Bloody Fridays! Was doing so well until DP came home with monster munch and ice cream. And wine makes it harder to say no! Ha

bellinique · 23/10/2020 22:56

I'm with you @BrimfulOfBaba!

I've had a cheese sandwich and chips for dinner with wine for pudding Blush

DownUdderer · 23/10/2020 23:04

I'm off alcohol at the moment, I don't buy it so I can't drink it. If I've got some in, then it's much harder to resist.

dudsville · 24/10/2020 08:42

I managed to turn things around this week but I'm anxious now it's the weekend. On the one hand I've got used to not snacking or eating large meals and I've got used to be a little hungry without panicking, generally being done eating by about 3pm until breakfast and I'm in ni rush to eat (just having a cup of tea in bed now). But I'm really busy when I'm working and this weekend is much needed lazy time... any tips?

swampytiggaa · 24/10/2020 09:39

Sounds silly but I crochet. Stops me snacking as my hands are busy. Plus I don’t want to get chocolate or crisp smell on whatever I am making 🙂

Done a 10k run this morning with a friend... pleased with that. Not planning to eat until 12 🙂

PurpleDaisies · 24/10/2020 09:55

I love crochet too @swampytiggaa. I have a few projects that really need finishing off. Maybe I’ll pick them up as distraction!

I’m always more relaxed on the weekend. We started doing fancy brunch during lockdown and have carried on. Today was avocado on toast and it was lovely. Lunch will be leftover fasolakia Greek green bean stew with added fennel.

I’m in pain after yesterday’s exercise classes. I guess that’s good.

swampytiggaa · 24/10/2020 10:32

I’ve gone back to bed 😂😂 taken advantage of the fact that me and the husband are both off work at the same time 😉

BrimfulOfBaba · 24/10/2020 10:42

The fancy brunch idea is brilliant @PurpleDaisies

Crochet is a good idea too! I try to just make sure I don't have anything to snack on in the house.

Luckily in our alcohol fuelled haze we ate most of our snackables last night Blush

PurpleDaisies · 24/10/2020 11:06

Thanks @brimful. We started brunch to break up the week when lockdown was in full swing. Also Friday fake away. That’s one of the things we’ll definitely keep for the future. Saved a fortune on take away and eating out, and much healthier too.

PrincessConsuelaBH · 24/10/2020 13:02

I'm struggling a bit the last few days! My diet hasn't been poor as such, but I've not really focussed on calories so not sure if I'll be seeing a loss on Monday!

Although this has been my first week of eating meat-free and I do love seeing how much my fruit and veg consumption has increased! So that's a bonus at least I guess.

dudsville · 24/10/2020 13:03

I don't crochet, wish I could! I have done some minor clothing repairs this morning, andrl thankfully, if I really think about it, I'm still full from breakfast. Please let my stomach shrink (is that a real thing?)!

Love the idea of a Friday night fakeaway! I'm always disappointed by curries so have recently bought a bunch if various curry seasoning packets.

RainingBatsAndFrogs · 24/10/2020 13:09

Thank you for comments and observations on my jelly belly Smile

Doing OK here apart from a dreadful lapse on Thursday when I ate an entire big bag of chilli and lime lentil snacks. About 400 cals worth. Got back on track with a stringent day yesterday.

Typical day’s meals;

A spoonful of protein granola with a spoonful of Greek yogurt, frozen raspberries and blueberries

One slice of rye or whole meal bread or toast with maybe an egg or cottage cheese or half a avocado, salad of tomatoes/ leaves / grated carrot. A drizzle of olive oil.

Snack: 2 or two oatcakes with a shaving of hard cheese or cottage cheese. Or a small mug of hot choc made with cocoa powder and half a tsp of sugar

1 measure of vodka with ‘refreshingly light’ Fevertree tonic, or a medium glass of wine, or a can of alcohol free beer or nothing.

A dinner of protein, carbs and green veg, no more than 600 cals. Usually about 450 or 500.

Ingridla · 24/10/2020 13:56

Hi all,

I've felt so disgusted with myself, I gained another pound, I'm heavier than I've ever been now aside from pregnancy. So I've bitten the bullet and am doing slimfast for a few days plus 15 minutes twice or 3 times a day on the exercise bike (if I can) one session definitely.

Will check in probably next Friday which will be a week from my disgraceful day yesterday of I a bottle of red wine, ice cream, sausage rolls, you name it.

PurpleDaisies · 24/10/2020 13:58

Gaining one pound is not a reason to be disgusted with yourself. It was one day. That’s not a reason to punish yourself with slim fast.

Ingridla · 24/10/2020 14:13

I'm disgusted with the sight of my middle in the mirror. The added pound, my eating habits recently, comfort eating food that I'm not even enjoying. I was being a little flippant.

I have several real health issues which mean a lot of weight around my vital organs is dangerous.

I'm not punishing myself I'm kickstarting a better me along with the exercise.

Thank you for the support

swampytiggaa · 24/10/2020 14:18

I weigh almost every day then take the average for the week as my weigh in iyswim. I enter the weights onto Fitbit and it sorts the average for me
